LP

A. R. LUCIANI - Elettroencefalogramma LP (finders - In the widening realms of uncovered European outsider art and maligned musical enigmas, the composer most commonly known as A. R. Luciani, along with his indeterminable and mostly uncommercial discography, continues to exist on the extreme outer limits. Despite his unwaning commitment to the Italian production music for the TV and film industry his work remains mostly undocumented in recent excitable books and documentaries.  Meanwhile his advancements in contemporary music, tape music, neo-classical, jazz, electroacoustic and counterpoint composition remains confided to the educational sector while his vast historical concert work remained exclusive to this discipline. If it wasn't for continued interest of owners of library music labels in the early 1970s it is doubtful that we would ever even hear the truly unique music of this Sicilian born (Florence raised) polymath who would eventually share anti-release schedules with the likes of Alessandro Alessandroni and Daniela Casa. For this reason, unlike many indispensable library legends of the era, it's arguable that Luciani should be considered a library musician at all, rather an independent, highly educated, experimental musician who happened to make library records. Library music clearly needed Luciani, rather that Ricardo relying on RIA's gravy train like many disposable artists of the gilded golden era, which is why this first-ever collection of his music, represents just the tip of an iceberg in a very deep ocean. ) 25.00

ANDY STOTT - It Should Be Us DLP (modern love - Andy Stott’s first release since 2016 and first EP since 2011, ‘It Should Be Us’ is a double EP of slow and raw productions for the club, recorded this year and following on from a series of EP’s that started with ‘Passed Me By’ and ‘We Stay Together’ early this decade. Recorded fast and loose over the summer, these 9 tracks (8 on the vinyl) harness a pure and bare-boned energy, melodies subsumed by drum machines and synths; slow, rugged abandon. It’s all about rhythmic heat and disorientation, pure dance and DJ specials rendered at an unsteady pace, from percolated house and percussive rituals to moody tripped-out burners. There’ll be a new Andy Stott album in 2020, but in the meantime... this one’s for dancing.) 30.00

BONANZA BANZAI - Early Years 1989 - 1991 DLP (mecanica - Bonanza Banzai was a popular techno-pop band formed in Budapest in 1988 by Zsolt Hauber (synths, percussion), Ákos Kovács (vocals, guitar) and Gábor Menczel (synths). They were known as the "Hungarian Depeche Mode” and released a total of eight studio albums during six years of existence. Their debut "Induljon a banzáj!” in 1989 was a huge success selling more than 50,000 copies. A second album, “A Jel”, was released next year followed by numerous live shows and positive reviews in local press. In 1990 they started flipping overseas preparing a compilation including songs from the first two albums, some specially recorded with English lyrics. As a result, video clips were broadcasted in Japan and played a show in Germany. In the spring of 1991 unleashed their cult album “1984”, a recording based on the work of George Orwell, which was also received by a huge success and kept the band active doing concerts in all Hungary. "A Pillanat Emlékműve” appeared in the fall of 1991 again with a great triumph. Although the band was apparently in the peak of success, problems started to arise among the members. According to Ákos electronic music had achieved what it could and it was time to change style, but according to Gábor and Zsolt the world was being conquered by electronic dance music. The band continued working together in a way or another for some more years, released a few more albums and touring until 1994 when everything came to the inevitable split-up. Kovács continued his solo career and is currently a successful pop-rock star. "Early Years 89-91” offers a special selection of songs from the first albums.) 28.00

CATERINA BARBIERI - Born Again In The Voltage LP (important - back in stock - Born Again In The Voltage is an astonishing collection of electro-acoustic pieces for Buchla 200 system, cello, and voice composed and produced by Caterina Barbieri at Elektronmusikstudion (SE) between 2014 and 2015. Cello by Antonello Manzo. Images by Giovanni Brunetto; Photography by Angelo Jaroszuk Bogasz; Layout by Important Records. Mastering by Giuseppe Ielasi. "One of electronic music's most interesting new voices." FACT) 26.00

CATERINA BARBIERI - Patterns Of Consciousness DLP (important - Patterns Of Consciousness is the powerful second full length from analog synth composer Caterina Barbieri. Highly recommended to fans of Alessandro Cortini and Eleh; Barbieri can be seen/heard/felt live at major electronic music events across Europe and beyond. Gorgeous high resolution analog textures and algorithmic melodies unfold under Barbieri's careful control, exploring the basic nature of sound and consciousness. These pieces are minimal in arrangement but maximal in presence asserting Barbieri as a unique voice in contemporary electronic music composition. "Patterns Of Consciousness finds Caterina Barbieri at her best, elegantly moving between melodically pleasant yet twisted sequences and comforting, reassuring sonic spaces. Every piece, while given a singular identity, is part of the bigger picture: a work of art that will push you, pull you, and then eventually leave you with your back against the wall once you get to the last track. " Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails) "A pattern creates a certain state of consciousness. Once it is created, the pattern stands as an object exactly like the sound waves which generate it. We are at the same time inside and outside of the object. While being it, we observe it. Over time we become familiar with the inner structure of the pattern. We decode its gravitational centres, where our psychomotor attention is attracted, where everything seems to be drawn. When a change in the pattern occurs it causes a perturbation of the previously established field of forces. This causes consciousness to fracture, potentially unfolding layers of perceptions we weren't aware of or simply suggesting that we access only a fraction of our psychic potential. The layered nature of consciousness and the relativity of perception are some of the biggest secrets we can experience through sound." Caterina Barbieri) 36.00

CLUTCH - earth rocker LP (While musical trends have come and gone over the course of the 23 years that Clutch have been roaming the earth, they've always thrived by just sitting back and doing their own thing, a trend they keep up on their tenth album, Earth Rocker.  (allmusic)) 18.00

CRASS - Yes Sir, I Will. LP (Crass' fifth studio album 'Yes Sir, I Will' is back in print on vinyl. Restored from original analog tapes and recut from brand new metalwork. This album was made as a statement on the Falklands War. It is wall of noise, anger and hate apart from one piano / vocal piece. The twisted, wailing noise seems to ebb and tide with the intensity of the words. The diatribe against Margaret Thatcher's handling of the Falklands War and manipulation of the media still strikes a particularly resonant chord.) 21.00

CRASS - Ten Notes On A Summer's Day LP (Number six in a series of re-releases of Crass. Now classic albums remastered and with additional related material. This edition includes the original Crass album plus additional tracks featuring eve libertine and comes with a specially designed fold-out poster and an illustrated booklet containing lyrics and contextual notes. 'ten notes on a summer's day' - the swan song. Recorded at Southern Studios from winter 1984 to summer 1985. From the liner notes by Penny Rimbaud: "just as throughout our seven years' existence as a punk band we had made concerted efforts to avoid specific political pigeonholing ('left wing, right wing, you can stuff the lot'), so, musically, we attempted to push the barriers, always avoiding the obvious. In one respect alone we were absolutely consistent; our inconsistency. If the essentially rowdy 'Feeding Of The Five Thousand' and 'Stations Of The Crass' had established us as the thinking man's bovver band, so 'Penis Envy' broke the mould as an almost lyrical, yet still very angry piece of rock 'n'roll feminism. Just at the very time that the BBC thought us safe enough to be given airplay, so we ploughed in with 'Christ - The Album,' an uncompromisingly avant-garde noise album which in its own way went a long way in redefining rock'n'roll's limited parameters. then, in much the same way as our fifth album, 'Yes Sir, I Will,' owed more to free jazz than to rock, so 'Ten Notes On A Summer's Day' nudged itself towards modern European atonality, and us completely out of the rock'n'roll arena (as testified to by dramatically reduced record sales). In this sense, 'Ten Notes On A Summer's Day' truly was a swan song.“) 21.00

DANIEL MENCHE - Melting Gravity LP (sige - Daniel Menche follows up his triple CD opus Sleeper with the razor drone constructs of Melting Gravity. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Menche is an iconic musician with three decades working with intense noise, immersive ambience, and turbulent field recordings. With Melting Gravity, Menche continues to carve his spot as a figurehead in the experimental community. The title of Melting Gravity refers to an allegory on the human pursuit of transcendence with all of its connotations to weightlessness, ascension, flight, out-of-body experiences, and just getting high. Gravity, on the other hand, becomes that which negates and nullifies those transcendent pursuits. In the context of this particular allegory, gravity is the devil. Music, long a vehicle aimed towards transcendent ideals, becomes the weapon to defeat gravity, to defeat the devil. Daniel Menche wields the weapon of music in composing the mercurial grandeur that is Melting Gravity. Implementing an elegant arc of acceleration and dissolve, Menche presents a slow-motion tumble of drones from his signature manipulation of FM synthesis, oscillators, and sustained tones from various stringed instruments. The tangles and tendrils of these extended frequencies are bright and liquid, rich in harmonic complexities though mottled with a scrap metal discord. Menche balances these slippery, luminous overtones with a dub-inspired lattice of recursive bass tones. Read as an industrial mantra or as amplified minimalism, Melting Gravity stands as an exemplary work in Menche’s storied catalogue of recordings. Daniel Menche’s lengthy discography contains over 60 albums, many of which have been published by some of the most esteemed experimental record labels. Over the years he has worked with Editions Mego, Sige, Touch Music, Alien8 Records, Ash International, Utrecht Records, and many others. He has collaborated with Mamiffer, Andrew Liles, KK Null, John Wiese, Aaron Bradford Turner, Joe Preston, Anla Courtis, Zbigniew Karkowski, Kiyoshi Mizutani, and Kevin Drumm. He has performed extensively in North America, Japan, Europe, and Australia. - Jim Haynes ) 24.00

EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY - How Strange, Innocence DLP (temporarty - The members of Explosions In The Sky played their first show, at the University of Texas’ student radio station, on July 4, 1999, under the short-lived moniker, Breaker Morant. A year later, they recorded their first album, How Strange, Innocence, over the course of two days, and made 300 CD-R copies to sell at shows and give to friends in their hometown of Austin, TX. In 2001, they signed to Temporary Residence Ltd., and released their breakthrough second album, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever, leaving the legend of How Strange, Innocence to proliferate on file-sharing and tape trading sites in a pre-iTunes and YouTube era. Following their third album, The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, the band released a single vinyl pressing of How Strange, Innocence as the debut release on a friend’s short-lived local imprint, Ruined Potential Records. Sold exclusively on a 2004 North American tour, the sole pressing of 300 sold out immediately, quickly becoming an urban legend for fans. Now, in honor of the band’s 20th anniversary, we are delighted to bring this treasured document of Explosions In The Sky’s humble beginnings back into the world. How Strange, Innocence – Anniversary Edition has been beautifully remastered by Heba Kadry – with vinyl lacquers cut by Bob Weston – and packaged in an incredible full-color, heavyweight triple-gatefold jacket with matte varnish, heavyweight full-color insert, and custom vinyl etching containing the charming story of How Strange, Innocence in the band’s own words. This is the definitive sound, look, and feel of the album that started one of the most inspiring and unique careers in modern underground music. ) 27.00

FKA TWIGS - Magdalene LP (red vinyl) (young turks - One of this decade’s definitive singer-songwriters returns in biblical style with 2nd album, ‘Magdalene’, co-produced with Nicolás Jaar and offering a much more mannered and theatric sound than her singular early outings. ‘Magdalene’ signifies a weightier seriousness to Twigs’ 2nd album, which arrives after a well publicised, high-profile romance and period of illness over the interim since 2014’s groundbreaking avant-R&B salvo ‘LP1’. Where that album featured Arca’s dazzling co-production alongside Twigs’ presence, her follow-up sees her mutate thru a carousel of different voices, both whispered, octave-scaling, and processed into alien, computerised reflections that give her persona room to breathe against Jaar’s burnished backdrops; themselves ranging from solo piano torch songs to trap, Burial-esque blues, and Julia Holter-like theatricality. We really need to spend more time with it to comprehend the lyrical content, but the music says enough upfront, just a bit quieter and spacious in tone than we’ve previously heard from her. Factor in chops by everyone from Skrillex and HudMo to Koreless, Motion Graphics and CY AN and you can be certain the album’s ornate details will only reveal themselves further with repeat listens.) 20.00

THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS - Imminent Death DLP (god - The Flying Luttenbachers’ “Imminent Death” is the second release by the seminal cult band since its reincarnation in 2017. “Imminent Death” is very different in many ways from the previous Luttenbachers releases, but then again, you could consistenly say that about most of them. The group has always followed the direction set by its leader 'Weasel Walter' and reflects his desire to create music of a determinately less common quantity in any given era. 'The Flying Luttenbachers' have always been staunchly committed to making artistic statments which defy current trends and seek the expression of personal truth, mania and iconoclasm. This offering is a record, Mr. Walter has pondered and thought about making for 30 years - finally, here it is, and it is quite a cathartic exorcism. ... Hope, you enjoy.) 28.00

GAS - Pop 3LP (kompakt - The 3LP edition of Wolfgang Voigt’s most treasured Gas release is finally freed of the 2016 boxset and available as a standalone edition to a definitive ambient techno classic Originally issued as a 2LP in 2000 as the 4th Gas transmission, ‘Pop’ remains among the Kompakt co-founder and European techno catalyst’s finest work. By 2000 Wolfgang Voigt has indelibly carved his name on European electronic music with a huge catalogue touching on myriad strains of rave, techno and trance for everyone from Warp to Sähkö and Force Inc., including very canny lines in flipping pop classics far out of their original frameworks. With the Gas series he refined and applied that latter aesthetic to the grand orchestrations of Wagner in a strolling style of breezy strings and booming bass drum heartbeats designed to accompany his walks through the Black Forest. ‘Pop’ is arguably among the most revered of these rambling soundtracks and has now been afforded the fitting luxury of a 3LP pressing giving each track more room to breath and let the listener take in the scenery.  In our books it’s an evergreen essential that rarely fails to draw us into its gently insistent, ambulating pace and naturally plangent ambience.)31.00

GIRL BAND - The Talkies LP (rough trade - ‘The Talkies’ is Girl Band’s follow-up album to their ground breaking 2015 debut ‘Holding Hands with Jamie’. It was recorded in November 2018 at Ballintubbert House, Ireland, “a few pay grades above what we're used to!”, the alien construction of Ballintubbert and its corridors help to navigate Girl Band’s cataclysmic sound within a world of its own. “In many ways the idea behind the album was to make an audio representation of the house.“ And this enigmatic manor becomes Girl Band’s sonic playground. The Talkies is living, breathing, in a continual state of metamorphosis. It encompasses everything there is to love about Girl Band while simultaneously causing an exciting level of discomfort. The moaning and sawing guitars, atonal blankets of sound, abstractive lyrical repetition, chugging snare and ascending/descending snakes and ladders noise-rock guitar deliver something that is so distinctively Girl Band.) 20.00

JOHANN JOHANNSSON - Fordlandia DLP (4AD - Johann Johannsson - ‘Fordlandia’ double 180g black vinyl LP reissue in gatefold sleeve. Previously only available on vinyl as a small run pressed by Jóhann himself on his NTOV label.) 26.00

KING MIDAS SOUND - Solitude DLP (bakc in stock - Woe are King Midas Sound on ’Solitude’, their crushingly desolate new album, auspiciously cued for a Valentine’s Day release on Shapednoise’s Cosmo Rhythmatic label. A meditation on loss, narrated by Roger Robisnon and produced by Kevin Martin (The Bug), ’Solitude’ sees KMS gut out their sound following the bittersweet shoegaze-dub blooms of their ‘Edition1’ [2015] collaboration with Fennesz, resulting in a starkly noirish elegy to extinguished romance and love in the endtimes Combining the grown-up, confessional vulnerability of Robinson’s lyrics and dreader-than-dread delivery with the most stripped back arrangements in Kevin Martin’s entire catalogue, the duo drill deep into emotional sufferation with simultaneously suffocating yet somehow beautiful results. Over the course of 12 songs, they glacially limn a coming-to-terms with a loss that has been enforced or unexpected, and ultimately arrive at the starkest conclusions with cinematic effect. ’Solitude’ pushes King Midas Sound’s pessimism to heart-rinsing degrees. Staging Robinson in a series of vantablack scenes veiled by smoky, minimal synth-lighting, the poet processes irrational and incessant feelings of rejection and loneliness. From the aching desolation of ‘You Disappear’ to the unflinching realisations of ‘X’, the ache imparted by Robinson’s lyrics is only amplified by his quiet stoicism, while Kevin Martin finds power in a sense of deferred gratification and his embrace of negative space.) 28.00

LINEAR MOVEMENT - On The Screen LP (minimal wave - The thirteenth release on Minimal Wave is Linear Movement’s ‘On The Screen’ LP, a collection of songs originally slated for release in 1983. Linear Movement is Belgian mastermind Peter Bonne (A Split-Second, Twilight Ritual, Autumn) joined by Peter Koutstaal, and Lieve Van Steerteghem on vocals. Some tracks appear on the exquisite Pulse Music cassette (released by the Micrart Group) while the rest are previously unreleased. Linear Movement was featured on V/A The Lost Tapes LP with their highly acclaimed The Game, described as an “unstoppable pop song”. Due to so much interest in this song, we decided a full LP needed to be released and so we present it to you: hand-numbered, limited pressing on 180 gram vinyl, and accompanied by a large glossy postcard photograph of the band live - now Sold Out. These songs are perfect for the dance floor and for home listening too!) 27.00

MAMIFFER - The Brilliant Tabernacle LP (sige - Ltd. to 300 copies, black vinyl, tip-on jacket, gold foil print, incl. booklet The long-arc vision of Faith Coloccia / Mamiffer has deftly traversed a sonic terrain with an emotional depth and compositional restraint rarely found in contemporary music. Across multiple albums, EPs, and splits, she and her collaborators have tapped into the passionate elements of life - the sublime joys and the harrowing losses - while also providing a score to the less definable moments; the pensive times of solace, the dissonant chapters of uncertainty, and the meditative sojourns. Mamiffer’s latest album, The Brilliant Tabernacle, transmutes darkness and rejoices in the force of life by illuminating the beauty of creation. Beginning with a foundation of piano, organ, and voice, Coloccia enlisted her partner and long-time collaborator Aaron Turner along with a congregation of auxiliary musicians to help her construct “a guiding light” in the form of seven songs. With The Brilliant Tabernacle, Coloccia has focused her work on encompassing the totality of the human experience. Herein she acknowledges both the joyful abundance and inherent suffering of life, while fostering a deep reverence for “pristine awareness” as accessed by the natural mind. This fecund drive was further bolstered by the birth of her first child after her last album The World Unseen. The attendant experiences with maternity—hope, love, strength, support, surrender, and more than anything, the cognition of the self at its most powerful: the embodiment of vulnerability—prompted the construction of The Brilliant Tabernacle.) 25.00

MARIA W HORN - Epistasis LP (hollow ground - Following the success of her 2018 solo debut album »Kontrapoetik,« the Swedish composer Maria W Horn returns with »Epistasis,« her most ambitious record to date. The title track, »Konvektion« and the two parts of »Interlocked Cycles« see the XKatedral co-founder explore radical approaches to composition that combine avantgarde methods with electronic means. While »Kontrapoetik« highlighted Horn’s strength as a conceptual and political artist, »Epistasis« is to be understood as an advanced statement by a forward-thinking composer who throughout four pieces channels her influences, ranging from black metal to minimal music, through state-of-the-art technology. Originally composed as an audiovisual piece for synchronised multichannel sound and lights and premiered in 2018 at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, »Interlocked Cycles« is a series of pieces exploring a gradual increase in tempo and density using various instruments. It was written to be performed by a computer-controlled upright Disklavier piano while the electronic part was generated within the Supercollider framework using phase modulation synthesis. Navigating between acoustic and electronic sounds, the two parts of »Interlocked Cycles« create a frame for the album by respectively serving as an introduction and coda to Horn’s musical exploration of the notions of authenticity and artificiality. The nine and a half minute long title track was composed for an eight-voice double string quartet and draws on evolving progressions in F minor that were inspired by the sound and harmonic structures of early nineties doom and black metal music. During the performance of »Epistasis,« which was commissioned by Konstmusiksystrar and premiered by Malvakvartetten at Konserthuset in Stockholm 2018, four parts are played by the string quartet and four parts are played back electronically. Using various amplification techniques, the spectral characteristics of the string instruments are enhanced and distorted and were later on complemented by feedbacking electric guitar overdubs while mixing the piece. The result are densely layered drones that are most unsettling when they are the quietest and reveal their anthemic qualities in their most forceful moments. The structure of »Konvektion« however takes its cues from a very different field of the musical world. The composition progresses in a way that was inspired by Arvo Pärt’s »Tintinnabuli« technique, where step-by-step diatonic movement interplays with triads to form a complex harmonic function that is still rooted in tonality. Based around four-note chords articulated as dyads and performed by two organists on the same instrument, the duration of each dyad is measured by the individual breaths of the two performers while pitches are predetermined in the score of the piece. The alternating breathing cycles of the performers slowly move the piece forward at a glacial pace. Simultaneously, an electronic part composed of interference tones creating high and low frequency beating patterns gradually unfolds, making »Konvektion« an exercise in minimalism that combines the subtle gravity of Phill Niblock’s work with the visceral theatrality of Anna von Hausswolff’s organ pieces.) 26.00

MAXIMUM JOY - Station M.X.J.Y. LP (1972 - A focal point for the unique punk-funk that was coming together in Bristol as the bridge from the ’70s to the ’80s arrived, Maximum Joy was formed by Glaxo Babies multi-instrumentalist Tony Wrafter and 18 year-old vocalist Janine Rainforth. Soon they drafted in additional Glaxo Babies in the form of drummer Charlie Llewellin and bassist Dan Catsis, along with guitarist John Waddington, fresh from The Pop Group. The group set about making a one-of-a-kind mix of funk, punk, pop, jazz, dub, soul, afrobeat and reggae; creating a brilliant burst of danceable tunes wrapped around elastic basslines and complex percussion, punctuated by melodic horns and stabs of guitar, all of it highlighting Rainforth’s naturally enthusiastic vocal style. They immediately took their place on the rosters of influential labels like Y and 99 with iconic debut single “Stretch”, as the band had clearly captured something special. Entering 1982, Kevin Evans had replaced Catsis as Maximum Joy set out to make what would be their only full length LP. Recording at Berry Street and The Lodge with producers Adrian Sherwood (On-U-Sound legend), Dave Hunt (the Flying Lizards and This Heat) and Pete Wooliscroft (Kate Bush, Talk Talk, Peter Gabriel and OMD,) the band would mix practiced grooves with imaginative improvisation. The results were absolutely jaw-dropping.) 25.00

MIDORI HIRANO - Invisible Island LP (sonic pieces - Ltd. to 450 copies, handmade textiled artwork, incl. printed inner sleeve. Invisible Island is a fitting title for an album that seems to exist in a place quietly removed from the problems of the world. It's playful and imaginative, living in a soundscape filled with exotic fruits that fall from invisible trees. The record feels like a continuance from her album Minor Planet (2016) that shines through as an ethereal fog. Although the pieces on the album mostly centre around the piano - played in a soft, minimal way - it's the way they are presented that creates the personality that defines Invisible Island. The keys are coated in sound experimentations, perfectly accompanied by layers of synthesizers. It's a dreamy album that seems to emanate from a fantasy full of warmth, channeling both classic Japanese ambient music and a more modern electro-acoustic sound. Midori has a special sense of creating touching, melancholic pieces that float on the borders. As someone who grew up in the outskirts of Kyoto for then to later move to Berlin, one can sense the influences of both places - without ever settling down on either. Midori's Invisible Island is a safe place. Though it's one full of life and colours : birds, animals, wind and waves, fond memories of lost or unknown places and people that exist only in the hidden edges of this album. This especially comes to light for the albums centrepiece, the beautiful Belong, featuring Christoph Berg on violin. It's as if the protagonist - after roaming around the island for a long period, lost in its intrigue - finally finds what he/she has been searching for. A few tracks later the album ends on the title track, an uplifting ending that seems somehow unreal once the album stops and we ́re back to reality. Though the piano seems to keep performing in ones head with its repeating chorus and slowly drowning theme. An album of true visible beauty. ) 30.00

NOT WAVING & DARK MARK - Downwelling LP (Following Not Waving’s stellar recent recordings with Jim O’Rourke, Colin Potter & Jay Glass Dubs, ‘Downwelling’ finds him in a striking Pas de deux with alt. rock god Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, QOTSA). It’s one of those rare link-ups that truly transcends the sum of its parts, with Not Waving’s rolling range of nuanced electronics acting as backdrops for Lanegan’s smoky barritone storytelling. Delivered in a husky but pliable voice that has come to define the American alternative rock scene since the early ‘90s, Lanegan inhabits the songs with a reserved presence that has served him well for decades, but which has never been heard in quite this context. Pairing music recorded by Natalizia between London, Italy, and Paris over the past five years, with vocals recorded by Lanegan in LA, the duo arrive at dreamy non-place that’s not defined by geography or time. Instead the album offers a timeless insight into human behaviour, as reflected in the sleeve art details from the ‘Lights of Canopus’, a Persian version of the ancient Indian book of animal fables, the ‘Panchatantra.’ Thanks to Lanegan’s classically dusty tone - famously described as being “scratchy as a three day beard yet as supple as moccasin leather” - and the breadth of Not Waving’s production, the results draw listeners deep into the artists’ shared plane of world-weary but quietly hopeful conception, emphasising the power of closeness and empathy. Their songs come on like waves lapping a shore that’s ever-shifting, ever the same. This cycle is epitomised on the opener, ’Signifying The End’ with Lanegan’s raspy tone met by honeyed synths, before scaling the nocturnal heights of ‘City Of Sin’ and coolly channeling Suicide in ‘Burn Out Babylon.’ The waters calm again for ‘Persimmon Tree’ suitably set to harp-like arps, while the deathly croon and impending throb of ‘Murder In Fugue’ comes to rest in the serene resolution of ‘The Broken Man’ in a manner that’s entirely modernist but speaks to eons of human emotion. Echoing everything from latter-days Scott Walker to David Sylvian at his most strung out, and even the odd energy of Moebius, Conny Plank & Mayo Thompson’s ‘Ludwig’s Law’ album, or the arcane creak of John Duncan’s ‘Bitter Earth’, Natalizia & Lanegan’s efforts will surely realign listeners presumptions of both artists and place them in a category all of their own. ) 25.00

12 neue Lieder) 15.00

STRAIGHTJACKET NATION - Straightjacket Nation LP (la vida - Forming in 2004, Straightjacket Nation (featuring members of other important Australian bands such as Pisschrist, Total Control and The UV Race) have long been considered by many to be among the best that modern hardcore has to offer. Whether rearing their ugliness live or remaining underground and birthing releases sporadically, Straightjacket Nation absolutely DESTROY - undeniably deserving the cult following they've earned over the years, and the cult is alive. 2017 sees the release of the second Straightjacket Nation LP. Intimidating and foul, ridden with feedback, lurching and slamming, screeching and boiling over. There's no hint of youthfulness here, instead lurks a fearful incarnation of hardcore punk at it's darkest and most foul. One moment disciplined, the next a sprawling chaos. Straightjacket Nation stands alone, a horrible entity carved out in stone. Mean. Strict. Remorseless. Vengeful. Harsh. SJN. File between GAUZE 面を洗って出直して来い , POISON IDEA Pick Your King era and LIP CREAM great hits. Released between Cool Death in Australia and LVEUM in the Rest of the World. Straightjacket Nation S/T LP comes in a really black front embossed sleeve.) 15.00

SVART PARAD - Total Svart Parad DLP + CD (FOAD - Ripping and raw Hardcore Punk from Sweden!!!! The definitive TOTAL SVART PARAD discography including all their existing recordings 1984-1986 remastered from first generation tapes provided by the band, adding a bunch of rare and unreleased material! Comes as double LP in gatefold-cover with bonus LIVE-CD and Booklet! In total 80 fukkin songs of pure oldschool hardcore punk madness!!!) 26.00

TERREMOTO - The Bridge LP (Terremoto formed in early 2017 began as Giacomo, Tessa and James messing around in a backyard shed in Melbourne. From humble beginnings Terremoto became an attempt to subvert the typical constraints of space and place to create music whilst band members were physically separated by multiple borders and oceans. Terremoto (earthquake in Italian) moulds upbeat new wave synth lines and 1980's pop vocal melodies with darker elements of driving goth-inspired guitars and drums. The debut 12" EP 'The Bridge' was written and recorded in studios on opposite sides of the planet, brought together and mixed by Phill Calvert of The Birthday Party & Blue Ruin. Released on Calvert's label Behind The Beat Records in Australia and Symphony of Destruction Records in Europe.) 16.00

WIRE - Mind Hive LP (pink flag - WIRE are the definitive post-punk group. Since their inception they’ve maintained a reputation for creating music that stretches the rock form whilst simultaneously editing it down to its essence. With their gift for crafting songs that perfectly balance experimentation and accessibility, WIRE were recently hailed by the Quietus as "one of the most consistent British bands of all time". Yet WIRE exhibit little inclination to look back or trade on past glories, rather they remain resolutely focused on producing music which is smart, vital and defiantly modern. Mind Hive is the group’s first newly recorded material since 2017’s stellar Silver/Lead. That album garnered rave reviews ("Some of the best tunes they’ve done" – The Guardian) and career best sales. Yet, if Silver/Lead set the bar pretty high, Mind Hive seems to have no problem vaulting over it.) 23.00

BUM - I 7“ (Neue Postpunkband aus Berlin.

SABRE - Sabré 7“ (ETT - Never change a winning team, so ETT is honoured to bring you the debut EP from Bay Areas finest UK 82 influenced supergroup SABRÈ. A strong brand of a sound between early UK punk-meets- early US hardcore. The members are known from their previous bands like SYNTHETIC ID, NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE and COLD CIRCUITS and so the word supergroup makes totally sense. These guys play a thumping, tough as nails, stripped down and catchy as hell brand of a almost classic 1-2, 1-2 UK82 inspired hardcore punk with bruising vocals, sharp guitar riffs and a rhythm section that sounds like it's done a pharmacy full of speed. Gritty and loud production elevates what could otherwise be doomed to dollar bin hell. If you need a reference I would say something between LAST RITES and early ATTAK. Four songs of ripping punk created by some of the key members of the Bay Area punk scene. Staying away from the epic side of things, SABRE keeps their songs catchy and punk. No fakes on this platter just punks playing what they love. That says it all. No trend, no fashion, just pissed friends shreddin' fast and loud. This EP is a real steel toe tapper!) 6.00

URIN - Incydent 7“ (ett - It's always great to release records of bands with members of other outstanding bands, especially when they sound fucking dope! Members of Rock (Karolina), Piss (Per), Cuntroaches (David) and Vexx/G.L.O.S.S. (Corey), got together in Berlin and started this band. This is raw lo-fi hardcore punk in the vein of SKITLICKERS - which seems to be plasphemic, but believe me, it is not! Most of the time I am bored when there are new bands trying to deliver hardcorepunk. So I have just a real ear for bands that take hardcore to some new, weird, and exciting places. And thats why ETT brings you this EP. straight out of the Berlin gutters. The new wave of raw Berlin hardcore is here and alongside fellow bands like LIFE FUCKER and PISS, URIN are holding a match to the firecracker set to explode under the asses of all the would-be artists, internet activists and party people currently scourging the German capital too. Short, fast, loud, brutal, heavy, obnoxious. Too punk for metal, too metal for punk. This is deadly serious raw punk, much better than most of the so called "raw punk" bands out there. It has that "broke into the studio in the middle of the night" sound quality. The vocals, drums and guitar tone - everything sounds like a lost 1982 recording out of Gothenburg. Four perfect tunes in the vein of Shitlickers and Anti Cimex! No compromises - just pure Swedish! Ultra! Mega! Raw! Hardcore! Punk!) 6.00

LP

ARTHUR RUSSELL - Iowa Dream DLP (audika - Over the past decade, the visionary musician Arthur Russell has entered something close to the mainstream. Sampled and referenced by contemporary musicians, his papers now open to visitors at the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center in New York, and his name synonymous with a certain strain of tenderness, Russell is as widely known as he’s ever been. Thanks to Russell’s partner Tom Lee and to Steve Knutson of Audika Records, who have forged several records from Russell’s vast archive of unfinished and unreleased work, the world now hears many versions of Arthur Russell. There’s the Iowa boy, the disco mystic, the singer-songwriter and composer, and the fierce perfectionist deep in a world of echo. While all of these elements of Russell are individually true, none alone define him. Now, after ten years of work inside the Russell library, Lee and Knutson bring us Iowa Dream, yet another bright star in Russell’s dazzling constellation. Blazing with trademark feeling, these nineteen songs are a staggering collection of Russell’s utterly distinct songwriting. And although Russell could be inscrutably single-minded, he was never totally solitary. Collaborating here is a stacked roster of downtown New York musicians, including Ernie Brooks, Rhys Chatham, Henry Flynt, Jon Gibson, Peter Gordon, Steven Hall, Jackson Mac Low, Larry Saltzman, and David Van Tieghem. Musician Peter Broderick makes a contemporary addition to this list: more than forty years after Russell recorded several nearly finished songs, Broderick worked diligently with Audika to complete them, and performed audio restoration and additional mixing. Several tracks on Iowa Dream Russell originally recorded as demos, in two early examples of his repeated brushes with potential popular success—first in 1974, with Paul Nelson of Mercury Records, and then in 1975, with the legendary John Hammond of Columbia Records. For different reasons, neither session amounted to a record deal. Russell kept working nearly up until his death in 1992 from complications of HIV-AIDS. At once kaleidoscopic and intimate, Iowa Dream bears some of Russell’s most personal work, including several recently discovered folk songs he wrote during his time in Northern California in the early 1970s. For Russell, Iowa was never very far away. “I see, I see it all,” sings Russell on the title track: red houses, fields, the town mayor (his father) streaming by as he dream-bicycles through his hometown. Russell’s childhood home and family echo, too, through “Just Regular People,” “I Wish I Had a Brother,” “Wonder Boy,” “The Dogs Outside are Barking,” “Sharper Eyes,” and “I Felt.” Meanwhile, songs like “I Kissed the Girl From Outer Space,” “I Still Love You,” “List of Boys,” and “Barefoot in New York” fizz with pop and dance grooves, gesturing at Russell’s devotion to New York’s avant-garde and disco scenes. Finally, the long-awaited “You Did it Yourself,” until now heard only in a brief heart-stopping black-and-white clip in Matt Wolf’s documentary Wild Combination, awards us a new take with a driving funk rhythm and Russell’s extraordinary voice soaring at the height of its powers. On Iowa Dream, you can hear a country kid meeting the rest of the world—and with this record, the world continues to meet a totally singular artist. ) 38.00

AWES - Modern Love LP (diy - New mathy Noiserock duo out of Berlin. Released on white vinyl in an edition of 200 with screenprinted sleeve. Think of: Don Caballero, Hella or Pitchblende) 15.00

BYRON POPE SPEED OF LIGHT - Music For Earthdwellers And Starseekers LP (Alto saxophonist Byron Herman Pope (born 1934) might be a rather unsung name on the bill despite being part of the avant-garde jazz circuit for more than half a century. Deeply committed to the ideas of John Coltrane, he has played with Alan Silva and Sunny Murray but only recorded sporadically over the course of his long career. Coming from a musical family: Byron’s father was the band leader of his own orchestra and was a writer for Billie Holiday, his uncle Lee was the tenor sax player with Eddie ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson (until he retired & was replaced by a young man named John Coltrane) and his cousin was Darlene Love, the famous R&R Hall Of Fame singer/actress who was married to Phil Spector and godmother to Whitney Houston. Growing up in a segregated Monroe-Louisiana in the 1940’s, at the age of 12, Byron Pope was exposed to concerts by African American bands at his high school…this became his principal motivation to become a musician himself. At the age of 19, Byron came to Germany as a US military serviceman…after two and a half years he returned to the States but was not able to accept the racism and political climate in his home country anymore. After accumulating three professorships as a jazz teacher (including the title of professor in Jazz and Blues at University of Washington, Seattle in 1968) in the early Seventies Byron crossed the ocean again, this time he went to France. Here he met (and started performing with) the legendary Burton Greene and became friends with main players from the likes of Georges-Edouard Nouel and Chris Henderson. Throughout his long career Byron kept close friendships with famous jazz and blues players including Sun Ra and John Coltrane (Coltrane wanted to record his song “This Way” but unfortunately passed away before he could do it). Byron Pope was a member of the Alan Silva Orchestra from 1972 to 1976, later he went on to play with Sunny Murray on a regular basis. Byron eventually settled in Geneva where he has lived ever since…dividing his time between his family, his love for spiritual yoga and his musical career. Byron Pope’s 1982 LP Music For Earthdwellers And Starseekers (recorded at Studio Caroline, Paris) is a sublime modal jazz record with a nice cosmic spiritual touch. Enlisting a superb all-star line-up including Georges-Edouard Nouel on piano, Roger Raspail (Kassav) on percussion and Chris Henderson (Sun Ra) on drums. To top things off, the album was engineered by the legendary Jean-Philippe Bonichon (who later on went to become the engineer responsible for many of the early remixes of Dimitri From Paris). This is absolutely top-drawer material with superb grooves that astral travelers are looking for. The three percussionists unlock rhythms that move your bones and bring alive new levels of consciousness…pure raw cosmic energy turned into vibrations and notes at the speed of light. Today we are proud to present to you the first ever vinyl reissue of this rare album (original copies tend to go for large amounts since only 1000 copies were pressed upon its release in 1982). This reissue is now available as a deluxe 180g vinyl edition (limited to 500 copies) featuring the original artwork and also comes with an insert containing pictures and liner notes.) 40.00

COIL - The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex +2 LP (backk in stock - Here comes Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" released in 1992. Members for this project are John Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and Danny Hyde. The OST, to quote John Balance's interview for Compulsion Online, "is [a] slightly new agey, progressive house type thing".  ) 25.00

CORNISH WRECKERS - Lurid Tales Of Wrecking And Repose LP (This debut album brings you tales from the tough Victorian-era streets of East-End London, tales from the Cornish coast and of its ruthless 19thC pirates, tales of the ghosts and lights that bewitched the sailors travelling on board sea faring vessels made of wood and hemp, listen to the nursery-rhyme about a Bedeviled goat that tempts the flesh of the tender and the innocent, visualize the psychosis that comes from steering a constant course towards the horizon without respite and without the prospect of returning homeward, imbibe of the bygone music-hall playfull-ness towards death and the daily struggle to pay the rent within the leaning walls of the cobbled parishes, hear stories about a time when darkness writhed around the false lamp light through a shortened life . . . and have you heard the news about Mother? Familiar folkloric themes indeed rendered modern. Enjoy the rich and tremulous guitars and synthesized sounds of Michael Plater. Revel in the basso profondo piano treatments and lyrical vocalizations of Tony Millman. Enjoy the female witch choruses rendered by Andrea Millman, Heather Fiona, Sarah Williams, Melon Mendez, Claire Raine, the soaring sirenades of Paige Duggan and the earth rumbling chants of Lachlan Currie and Dean Lombard. Hear the choral influence of Byrd and Tallis and Taverner and of Punk Rock. Feel the Folk Horror. Submit to the sea. Get wrecked. FFO: Nick Cave, Mount Eerie, Dirty Three,…) 16.00

DRUKNER / GAIA - split LP (Two of Denmarks meanest stoner/doom-bands come together on this split to show that coorporation is the way forward for the scene. This release gives us 42 minuttes of heavy riffs, epic passages, and all danish lyrics. The lyrics contain equal amonts of destruction and hope (well.....come to think of it - maybe a bit more destruction). The cover was designed by NMAAR and screen printed by the bands them selves in a basement in Nørrebro.) 16.00

DUMSPELL - Dumspell LP (This is Dumspell, a post-punk band coming from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I was pretty quickly swooned by the somber, fuzzy and reverb-heavy tunes, and oddly lethargic-yet-melodic songs. Tracks like "Cowboy" or "Spin" drone on with tantalizing monotony, drilling it's fantastic riffs, uninterested vocals, and refreshing bass n' drums into your earholes. I don't know what this Hattiesburg post-punk group has been up to since the release of their debut tape way back in 2015, but if the eleven songs they dropped on this 12" this year are any sort of clue, I'd say it's probably great, GREAT things. An LP full of songs that will make you feel instantly comfortable - you might have seen this movie, you've just never seen it acted quite this well, and the production this time around is sheer perfection. You are welcome to dismiss this as some more of that melodic punk that you are too cool to admit that you like, but you would be a fool. I can only hope that they've got more stuff coming down the pipeline, because they've only heightened my opinion of their work by releasing new songs that are just as memorable as their steller demo -- and that's saying a LOT. Cool punk for sad people, check it.) 14.00

ENVY - The Fallen Crimson DLP (pelgaic - The Fallen Crimson – the first new studio album from Envy in five years – is a record that almost never happened. Japan’s most iconic and influential post-hardcore band suffered seemingly insurmountable personal and creative struggles that challenged the very existence of the band like nothing they had experienced in their nearly three decades together. After reuniting with briefly estranged singer Tetsuya Fukagawa – and shaking up their lineup for the first time in 25 years – Envy return refreshed with their most dynamic and progressive work, The Fallen Crimson. Opening with the melodic thrash that made Envy so renowned in the first place, The Fallen Crimson finds the band perfecting their past, exploring their present, and pondering their future. It is the deepest, and most poignant album of Envy’s legendary career. It bears the stories and scars of a band whose relationships with each other are as dynamic and progressive as their music.) 29.00

FORESHADOWER - Foreshadower LP (Instrumental post-metal / doom / sludge from Copenhagen, Denmark. Crushing. FFO: Isis, Hexis, Neurosis, Pelican, …) 16.00

FRUSTRATION - So Cold Streams LP (born bad - During the 1990s, wherever you lived in France, there was a handful of bands you could see 5 or 10 times a year - sometimes almost by mistake. Bands who played so much, all the time, everywhere, that you would stumble upon them every three months. In the most remote and rural places of the country, they inspired tons of kids to start their own band or fanzine, to go for something different. It was more than just music. It was a spirit, an idea. Something that made you look at the world with a different perspective. ) 18.00

GIL SCOTT HERON - We’re New Again (A Reimagining By Makaya McCraven) LP (xl - To mark the tenth anniversary of the release of I’m New Here , the thirteenth - and last - studio album from the legendary US musician, poet and author Gil Scott-Heron, XL Recordings will release a unique reinterpretation of the album by acclaimed US jazz musician Makaya McCraven.) 23.00

JAIMIE BRANCH - Fly Or Die II LP (international anthem - back in stock - FLY or DIE II: bird dogs of paradise is the much-anticipated follow-up to composer, trumpeter, and (now) singer jaimie branch's debut Fly or Die, which was dubbed one of the “Best Albums of 2017” by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, NPR Music, WIRE, Stereogum, Aquarium Drunkard, and more. Written (mostly) while on her first European tour with Fly or Die in November 2018; and recorded (mostly) in studio at Total Refreshment Centre and live at Café OTO in London UK at the end of that tour, bird dogs of paradise is the result of a never-satisfied branch pushing her distinct style of progressive composition to new heights — while also stepping forward as a vocalist for the first time. “So much beauty lies in the abstract of instrumental music,” says branch in the album’s liner notes, “but being this ain’t a particularly beautiful time, I’ve chosen a more literal path. The voice is good for that.” On the album’s epic opening opus “prayer for amerikkka pt.1 and 2” branch calls out “a bunch of wide-eyed racists” between searing trumpet ad libs atop a massive, down-tuned blues. On the album’s closing track “love song (for assholes & clowns)” she laughs in their faces - an unhinged, unflinching, mix of anger and humor paired with a classic shuffle beat. Between both ends is an instrumental chronicle that traverses a deep sea of dystopian Americana without trepidation. Her trumpet – sometimes soft and pleading and other times brash and seething – is always at the helm. Branch and company are on a quest for sonic saturation here and they conjure up moments of real reckoning - hopefulness, hopelessness, danger, and joy. A cinematic sojourn from our earth to imagined worlds above, bird dogs of paradise dares you to feel again, or as branch says, “now sound the trumpets and get ready to roll.” ) 26.00

GAIA - A Cure For Time LP (The second album from Gaia takes a turn - away from the very controlled stoner/doom of Reality Field - towards a more chaotic and noise-influenced kind of doom. The first side sees a faster pace and brings the spaceyness of the music to the center, while the second side is slower and heavier. All of it tied together by bassheavy feedback. ) 14.00

KALI MALONE - The Sacrificial Code DLP (ideal - Finally repressed. Kali Malone presents a quietly subversive new album featuring almost two hours of concentrated, creeping organ pieces governed by a strict acoustic and compositional code. It’s a major new work with ultimately profound emotional resonance. ‘The Sacrificial Code’ takes a more detailed approach to ideas first sketched out on last year’s ‘Organ Dirges’, which featured canon exercises spontaneously captured without much prior technical planning. By contrast, the recording of ‘The Sacrificial Code’ involved the more careful micing up of several organs in such a way as to eliminate acoustic impurities as far as possible - essentially removing the large hall reverb so inextricably linked to the instrument. The pieces were then performed free of gestural adornments and without expressive impulse - an approach that flows against the grain of the prevailing musical hegemony, where sound is so often manipulated, and composition often steeped in self indulgence. The question posed; can this strict methodology still speak to the listener in meaningful terms? The answer is both obvious and entirely surprising; with its slow, purified and seemingly austere qualities ‘The Sacrificial Code’ guides us through an almost trance-inducing process where we become vulnerable receptors for every slight movement, where every miniature shift in sound becomes magnified through stillness. As such, it’s a uniquely satisfying exercise in transcendence through self restraint - a stunning realisation of ideas borne out of academic and conceptual rigour which gradually reveals startling personal dimensions. It has a perception-altering quality that encourages self exploration free of signposts and without a preordained endpoint - the antithesis to the language of colourless musical platitudes weíve become so accustomed to.) 33.00

LA LUNA SOTTO IL PONTE - L'Alchimia Dell Svanimento DLP + 12“ (For it's third release Infoline showcases never heard compositions of Marco Repetto (former Grauzone). La Luna Sotto Il Ponte is a 2x12' compilation and a never used alias of Marco Repetto. The compilation features tracks written between 1983-1989. Some years after his break up with Grauzone (1981), Marco went on a darker and more industrial path, which was a common route for experimental composers at that time. Expect a solid mixture of unreleased Industrial / EBM cuts. The bonus EP replaces La Luna Sotto Il Pontes grim and dark compositions for a much more utopian mind-set and movement in it's heyday. It's 1988/1989 - Acid House is everywhere.) 26.00

LATE NIGHT VENTURE - Subcosmos LP (Late Night Venture is a post-metal / doom / psychedelic outfit from Copenhagen, Denmark. FFO: Neurosi, Cult Of Luna, …) 18.00

PIERRE VASSILIU - En Voyages LP (born bad - "Voyage", to Pierre Vassiliu, was not only the title of an album of his, but also a philosophy of life. Travels were not for vacation or rest. They were synonyms of meetings, new music and sometimes, simply, life. These experiences around the world nourished his work, and his career allowed him to set foot on every continent. But his most beautiful travels took place in recording studios. ) 16.00

LEPER - Frail Life LP (kink - Hailing from Umea / Sweden and in the biz for 3 years. After their 2007 4 song demo you finally get their vinyl debut with 9 new tracks of highspeed raging and furious 'n' snotty Hardcore-Punk the way it meant to be. Fucking banger through and through.) 13.00

MAMIFFER - The Brilliant Tabernacle LP (bakc in stock -Ltd. to 300 copies, black vinyl, tip-on jacket, gold foil print, incl. booklet The long-arc vision of Faith Coloccia / Mamiffer has deftly traversed a sonic terrain with an emotional depth and compositional restraint rarely found in contemporary music. Beginning with a foundation of piano, organ, and voice, Coloccia enlisted her partner and long-time collaborator Aaron Turner along with a congregation of auxiliary musicians to help her construct “a guiding light” in the form of seven songs.) 25.00

RIKI - Riki LP (dais - Riki is the Los Angeles based dark synth-pop outfit commandeered by the mysterious Niff Nawor, a visual artist and musician active in the deathrock / anarcho-punk scenes of the California bay area (formerly a member of Crimson Scarlet), before founding her solo endeavor as Riki in 2017. Niff’s desire to explore her own sound manifested in the recording of the Hot City cassette tape in 2017, which featured Chelsey Crowley of Crimson Scarlet, Skot Brown of Phantom Limbs and Peđaof Doomed to Extinction. Released on Commodity Tapes and later reissued on vinyl by the well-regarded Symphony of Destruction label, Riki followed the release of the single with several small tours and festival dates, performing with such acts as Light Asylum, Black Marble, and Trisomie 21. For her self-titled debut album for Dais, Riki explores courage, physicality, and romance across eight timeless synth pop anthems. Produced and engineered by hardware-based synthesist Matia Simovich of INHALT, influences and ideas are worn proudly without deviating from fresh and daring electro-pop territory. Nostalgic cues can be heard ranging from Neue Deutsch Welle, early Adrian Sherwood productions, classic ZYX Italo Disco, Japanese Visual Kei and even classic new wave/pop like Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, and early Madonna. The lead single, Napoleon, contains Riki’s indelible sound design, reminiscent of 80’s New York dance floor electro-pop that recalls the fusion of uptown and downtown styles and culture, told through Riki’s present day West Coast narrative. For contrast, the second single entitled Böse Lügen (Body Mix) was previously released in demo form and re-mixed to emphasize its commanding presence and addictive nature. Translated simply to “Wicked Lies” and sung completely in German, Böse Lügen moves away from the upbeat romanticism found throughout the album and commands serious self-reflection guised within an infectious dance floor anthem. Riki invites listeners to “reveal their useless habits of complacency and fear...and witness their own rebirth, a rhythm universal” ) 24.00

SET TOP BOX - TV Guide Test LP (erste Theke - How weird can we go at the ETT hq? and the answer is - extremely weird, thanks to SET-TOP BOX. Some of the weirdest punk songs I've heard and what should i say? I freakin love it. Crack a drink, put your feed up, turn off yur brain and just relax to this TV GUIDE TEST BOX. Both tapes combined to a great full-length vinyl debut.) 14.00
SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE - Companion Rises LP (drag city - The new Six Organs of Admittance song title says it all: “Two Forms Moving.” Musically, a beatific bongo-driven acoustic form interlocks with a metallic guitar with intermittent synth radiation form, as two distinct vocal forms join together too. It’s good fun, like Faust producing The Revolution, with one of Prince’s hottest solos. Inspirational couplet: “two forms moving / two forms living / form a counterpoint / in double giving.” Universal!) 29.00

SVEN AKE JOHANSSON & THOMAS KAPIELSKI - Das Moabiter Duo - Recovered LP (fantom - Sven-Åke Johansson and Thomas Kapielski will release the vinyl LP "recovered" under their project name Das Moabiter Duo at Fantôme Verlag. It will be published on the occasion of a joint exhibition by Johansson and Kapielski at the Laura Mars Gallery, Berlin. The LP "recovered", mixed and mastered by Frieder Butzmann, features a previously unreleased concert recording from 1983. Joint performances by Kapielski and Johansson took place in clubs like the Korrekt (Alt-Moabit, Berlin) or - as part of the experimental concert series "Materialausgabe" initiated by Heiner Goebbels and Christoph Anders - at the Batschkapp in Frankfurt/Main. Das Moabiter Duo, as we can see from today's perspective, already anticipated live performances between noise, improv and advanced electronics that now almost daily enrich the nightlife of a city like Berlin. But back to the concerts of that time: Kapielski's electronic manipulations of sounds from everyday objects resulted in, as he himself puts it as ironically as conceitedly, an "ingenious-stockhausianistical" performance. Meanwhile, Johansson explored the sonic possibilities of shoe trees, lashed out with towels, grabbed his accordion with its attached rear-view mirror, and, last but not least, played, of course, his astonishing drum kit. Confusion arose - both during the actual performance and, in a completely different way, decades later, when Kapielski rediscovered the audio tape with a concert recording in an old carton - because of a typically unique idea by Johansson: "With a professional gesture, in the middle of the concert and while playing, Sven-Åke exchanged the cymbals, mounted on stands to the left and right of the bass drum, for large ‘cymbals’ made of thick foam pads. And he continued to play on them. We laughed - but we heard nothing. Or presumably even more. Each of us something different. That was enlightening - how else would this scene still be so present in my memory after 35 years." (Heiner Goebbels, text excerpt from the booklet) Obviously, listening to the original recording on which the LP is based you wouldn't be able to see Johansson playing his foam cymbals, in order to, as it were, hear them before the inner eye. Moreover, as Kapielski remembers in an e-mail to Johansson printed in the booklet, the recording microphones were placed in such a way that little of Johansson's drums could be heard anyway. So, across decades, a special kind of improvisation emerged: Johansson added new, "real" sounds with his drum kit, turning his improvisations with Kapielski into a, not only in a temporal sense, genuinely free-floating undertaking: „recovered". In addition to a download code, the vinyl album contains an extensive format-filling 16-page booklet with drawings by Sven-Åke Johansson, a text by Heiner Goebbels, an e-mail from Thomas Kapielski and photographs by Gerald Domenig of the legendary performance. In addition, a video documentation of the concert at Club Korrekt from 1983 will be published. Sven-Åke Johansson is one of the style-defining drummers of the German free jazz era of the 60s and 70s. From the 80s onwards, he pursued an artistic path as a music performer, largely independent of institutions and groups, and increasingly involved in the visual arts and new music circles. His oeuvre includes more than fifty record releases, numerous music theatre pieces, radio plays, visual works and a lively touring life. Thomas Kapielski is perhaps better known as an author, with publications at Merve, Suhrkamp etc., certainly also as an artist. But since the 80s he has also been active as a musician. He released records with Frieder Butzmann, among others.) 30.00

There, exotic birds and courteous elephants guarding a castle built with cakes form a Front for the Liberation of the Imaginary: colourful, systematically framed illustrations standing out against the cream background of gatefold sleeves… doorways to a maze of sounds at the crossroads between the neatest form of chanson and the most prospective jazz. ) 16.00

V/A - Ethiopian Soul And Groove - Ethiopian Urban Modern Music Vol. 1 LP (heavy - Ethiopian Soul and Groove. Urban Ethiopian music stands out within the African continent thanks to its creativity and originality. Whatever the shade — pop, blues, jazz or soul — it comes from a fusion of local musical traditions mixed with an echo of Western music. It bewitched Ethiopia during the ‘Swinging Addis’ decade before recently winning the favors of a well-informed audience all over the world. V/A - Voulez-Vous Cha-Cha ? French Cha-Cha 1960-1964 LP (born bad - Careful, "Let’s not get angry" suggests Spartaco Sax, the famed song accompanying French daily paper FRANCE-SOIR’s campaign against road violence: music isn’t that serious, often times really not. In any case, it is with this not so serious ear that one should listen to this selection of chachacha, mambo and other genres to twist and madison to, as music-lovers pinch their noses and block their ears. And yet, these breezy and light songs under their false airs of effortlessness draw out an astonishing analysis of late 1950s France with its partying baby boomers. Put on your dancing shoes, everyone on the dancefloor, let’s go baby. The record starts out with an esoteric organ, a guitar straight out of a western, a vibey rhythm section, a speeding saxophone, a glamorous voice, a curious keyboard, a slightly panicky tempo... "Please Mr Hitchock!" calls out a voice from the unknown, on an arrangement that’s about to lose control.) 16.00

LINUS VANDEWOLKEN - Het Vlier, Een Hommel Op Aarde 2x10“ (okraina - " What you are listening to is the sound of a forgotten instrument. It has existed since the middle ages, but the earliest example still intact is from 1608. Once a staple in most households in the low countries, it is a true folk instrument, of the people, mainly played in the past by women who used their kitchen tables as a resonating surfaces to amplify & accompany traditional religious & secular tunes. Nowadays it seen rarely outside of museums in Brussels & other places you most likely have never heard of. It is not spectacular, its simplest version is just a long thin box with strings on top. Some of the strings are melody strings, which have frets placed underneath them, some are drone strings that have no frets. Traditionally it was strummed with a goose feather & notes were made by sliding a hard stick with a handle, from fret to fret on the melody strings leaving the drone strings ringing openly. The constant hum of the drones is where the name of the instrument comes from: bumblebee, which in Flemish, is a hommel. The hommel has all but disappeared from the collective memory of Flanders. If it is seen outside of a display case, it is usually being played in a static way, denied the right to evolve & find a more contemporary voice. It has thus been replaced in the hearts of most Belgians by acoustic guitars & the more well known Appalachian dulcimer, which strangely enough is a descendent of this instrument: the grandparent is lost, the grandchild is celebrated. The first hommel I saw was years ago at the Volksinstrumentenmuseum in Gooik. Curious to how it would sound, I suggested to my father that we make one. A seasoned woodworker, he was up to the challenge & so we began... The sides & top are made from Douglas Fir recovered from an old bookshelf. The headstock block (schroevenstuck) is maple. The end block (staartstuck) is a piece of Oregon myrtlewood & the fretboard... I have to say I don't remember. We cut & sanded the wood, sawed the guides for the frets & set them in, created the bridge & nut out of ersatz granite, found some tuners from an old guitar & assembled the pieces together. Is is not the most elaborate example of a hommel, but, with the relationship I have forged with it over time, it's a beauty to me. ) 18.00

MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ - Je Est Un Autre 2x10“ (okraina - This recording is not a "best of", it is a reflection of Tori Kudo's evolution as a composer, from playing with seasoned musicians, to playing with people just starting out, from playing with meticulous scores, to playing call & response melodies written down, to the songs here on "Je est un Autre": instant improvisations based on keyboard compositions that Tori plays for the group. Yes, that is it. He plays a recording of himself on the keyboard, with singing or humming sometimes and he leaves it to the "big band" to interpret this on the spot. Sometimes, you can make out the melody, other times it is quite obscure, as if a sort of common shyness flows out of the collected instrumentarium. And other times, well, it is a big party. Mr Kudo and the group were invited to tour Europe to celebrate 20 years of the project Le Ton Mité, members of which are absorbed into the ensemble. The recording evolves from the static sound of hermetic conditions to the live concert in the later tracks. The studio here, is a trendy concert hall in Brussels Les Ateliers Claus. You hear the applause of the brave ears that weathered the ride of accidental psychedelia & moiré of various notes fading into and out of each other. This is only a sliver of the material from the 20 hour recording marathon documenting the new composing/playing style of Mr Kudo & snippets from the last concert of the March 2018 tour. Perhaps the album should be called "Je est un autre : Volume 1" in a vague reference to "My Brother The Wind" series from Sun Ra. In any case, here you have four sides of ten inch vinyl to take you on a journey into Maher: Je est un autre... ) 18.00

ALABASTER DEPLUME - To Cy & Lee: Instrumentals Vol. 1 LP (internation anthem .In the words of Emma Warren: Alabaster DePlume is not doing things properly, and this makes him very happy. DePlume is a Manchester-born, London-based bandleader, composer, saxophonist, activist and orator. He’s a resident at the legendary London creative hub Total Refreshment Centre, a recording artist for the off-grid, Scottish Hebridean island label Lost Map, and now the latest arrival into Chicago-based International Anthem’s growing family of progressive musical explorationists. Whilst much of his music contains vocals – often whispered imperatives – this is a collection of instrumentals, drenched in feeling and recorded over four albums and eight earth years in cities across the UK. The music of "To Cy & Lee: Instrumentals Vol. 1" contains naturally elegant orchestration wrapped around something visceral and primordial. Swirled inside the 11 pieces are shades of Japanese Min’yo folk, Celtic folk, the Ethio-jazz of saxophonist Getatchew Mekurya and hints of the pan-human ‘ancient music’ that sat underneath Arthur Russell’s melodies on First Thought, Best Thought. The music is filled with space, inspired, he says, by computer games and Japanese animation, particularly Joe Hisaishi’s soundtrack for Studio Ghibli’s Castle In The Sky. The record combines new compositions alongside bygone instrumentals and understated lullabies that feel like they’ve been picked from between the cracks of civilisation. These songs were collected from albums "Copernicus," "The Jester," and "Peach" – under-the-radar records that preceded his critically acclaimed 2019 release The Corner of a Sphere. The new tunes feature Dan ‘Danalogue’ Leavers of The Comet Is Coming and Sarathy Korwar alongside a host of London’s finest musicians. To Cy & Lee… has a suitably individual genesis. DePlume was working for Ordinary Lifestyles, a charity in North Manchester which supports people with disabilities to live in their own homes and to live fulfilling lives. Specifically, he was working with the titular Cy and Lee. His job was to get the guys socialising and he did this by making up songs with them. They’d make up melodies together, humming tunes in the house when they needed something calm, or when they were haring round the city in a battered car. DePlume would record these impromptu sessions in his phone, then go to the studio and use the material as starting points for songs. He also ran music sessions for Cy, Lee and their friends. “People would focus on a central point, tuning in to one another. There are things we can’t put into words, which can be expressed with sound and music. These guys have fewer words than us, some of them have none. When we put some feelings into a music expression – that’s liberation.” Alabaster DePlume is not doing things properly. Hallelujah.) 25.00

BYRON POPE SPEED OF LIGHT - Music For Earthdwellers And Starseekers LP (tidal waves . Alto saxophonist Byron Herman Pope (born 1934) might be a rather unsung name on the bill despite being part of the avant-garde jazz circuit for more than half a century.

CINDY LEE - What's Tonight To Eternity LP (w25th - For Patrick Flegel, Cindy Lee is more than just a recording music project. It is the culmination of a lifelong exploration of art, the electric guitar, queer identity and gender expression. "Singers like Patsy Cline and The Supremes carried me through the hardest times of my life," explains Flegel, "and also provided the soundtrack to the best times.“ Following the dissolution of Canadian experimental indie band Women, Flegel would delve deeper into songwriting that bends further toward high atmospherics and bracing melodies – a unique space where splendor naturally collides with experimentation. Delivering moments of sheer beauty through somber reflections on longing and loneliness, Cindy Lee is something to hold onto in a world of disorder. What's Tonight To Eternity, Cindy Lee's fifth long-form offering, showcases the project's most entrancing strengths: ethereal snowdrift pop and sly nods toward classic girl-group motifs. Recorded at Flegel's Realistik Studios in Toronto and featuring younger brother Andrew Flegel on drums, the album travels hand in hand with a spectral guide. Flegel found inspiration for Cindy Lee in the form of Karen Carpenter, drawing on the singer / drummer's early recordings as well as her look and style. "I found a deep interest and comfort in Karen's story, which is a cautionary tale about the monstrosity of show business, stardom at a young age and being a misfit looking for connection. The darkness and victimizing tabloid sensationalism she suffered is easily tempered and overwhelmed by her earnest output, her artistry, her tireless work ethic. Something utterly unique and magical takes shape in the negative space, out of exclusion. What I relate to in her has to do with what is hidden, what is unknown.“ What's Tonight To Eternity remains a mix of pop culture indoctrination, pain and suffering, hopes and dreams, fierce confrontations and wide-open confessional blurs. Closing with the song "Heavy Metal" (dedicated to the memory of former Women bandmate Chris Reimer) and adorned by Andrea Lukic's Journal of Smack artwork, the album continues the bold and rewarding path on which Cindy Lee has embarked.) 22.00

DELUSION OF THE FURY - Delusion of the Fury LP (With an eye on the most heterogeneous approaches that emerged with Noise, Krautrock, No-Wave, LAFMS, Japanoise, ... DELUSION OF THE FURY phagocyte, crush, digest and expel an exquisitely cooked vinyl from different sound sources beyond any gender. Sharp guitars, frantically stripped beats, voices that scream beyond and subtle electronic noises RAISE, CONVULATE and EXPLODE away from any territory explored by the last radar calibrated by a human. As the planet writhes more and more deaf, DELUSION OF THE FURY will be the bonfire for some survivors.) 20.00

DISSEMBLANCE - Over The Sand LP (mannequin - Exploring the balances between pop song writing structures, 80s cold wave bedroom style electronic production, and dreary gloom rock, Paris based Dissemblance presents her debut lp "Over the Sand" for Mannequin Records. Over the ten tracks Dissemblance treads the fringes of a blurred dream world, using her bass guitar, voice, and drum machine as the backbone to create haunting yet soothing pop atmospheres in her songs. The opener "Transfuge" maintains a focus on the bass guitar, while a sparse rhythm box and monotone vocal fuel unbreakable tension. "Rescue" continues centered around the bass playing, this time with more almost upbeat surf rock pop sensibility driving the track. The closer "A Ride" takes shape with Boss DR-55 clicks, solem, floating vocals and a subtle bassline reminding us of some of Lifetones finer moments. A welcome new addition to the Mannequin catalog, "Over the Sand" will appeal to fans of gloom tinged electronic pop and even to optimistic goths around the globe.) 22.00

ELEH - Living Space DLP (touch - Following ‘Slow Fade for Hard Sync’ (2009) and Location Momentum (2010), Living Space is Eleh’s third physical release for Touch. Seven years in the making, this new release consolidates the artist’s parallel narrative between a series of vinyl and CD releases for Important Records – where the emphasis is on a minimalist aesthetic – to a visual counterpoint that hints at the cinematic and painterly qualities of the music.) 27.00

ELEH / NYZ - split LP (imprtoant - 2020 Split release with contributions by ELEH and NYZ. ELEH: This side is possibly the artist's most complicated electronic composition. It navigates myriad timbral, tuning and temporal processes while winding itself to completion. It was composed/constructed over a period of months in early 2019. NYZ: Two crunchy microtonal drone meditations in mono, using techniques of digital FM and hybrid analogue/digital modular synthesis. FM60P::fbk1#03 is from a number of sessions recorded on my very battered SY99 recorded from 2013 to 2014. As the name suggests, this particular session revolved around using feedback in the FM algorithm. EML DRNPi was recorded as part of the 2015 Plum Island Sessions where I had a host of synths on loan from John Brien at Important Records. For this recording I used the EML ElectroComp 101 and my own 4 voice digital microtonal oscillator running a Lambdoma Matrix to make a hybrid analogue/digital system. This split release between ELEH and NYZ (David Burraston) is packaged in a heavy duty sleeve printed on both sides of the packaging and utilizing metallic inks. This is a first edition of 500 copies and a brand new full length from NYZ is being released at the same time via Important Records.) 27.00

ENVY - The Fallen Crimson DLP (pelagic - The Fallen Crimson – the first new studio album from Envy in five years – is a record that almost never happened.

FLUISTERAARS - bloem LP (eisen - After more than four long years, the enigmatic black metal act Fluisteraars return with their third full-length record, “Bloem”. This new chapter in the ever-expanding output of perhaps one of the most creative acts in the Dutch scene is set for release on February 28, 2020. The band recorded the follow up to 2015’s “Luwte” in E-Sound Studios, under the recording auspices of T. Cochrane, who contributed significant brass instrument flourishes on the record as well. From the first feedback-laden chord struck at the beginning of opener “Tere Muur”, one is immediately taken into the familiar Fluisteraars tonal register that has marked most of their output since the previous full-length album. However this familiarity is skillfully deconstructed throughout the following tracks, moving between ripping blast beats and greater vistas of lush melancholy. Again, the versatile performances of B. Mollema (vocals) effectively narrate the unmistakable songwriting of main instrumentalist M. Koops (guitars, bass, drums, piano). Thematically, “Bloem” conjures old and reimagined folktales and legends in which flowers act as both symbols for birth and regeneration as well as crippling decay. The flower can be imagined as both an object of beauty in itself as well as a single glistening star in a whole night-sky of blossoming spring. The romantic naturalism on display within these five songs attest to a band wholly enamored with the forests and fields of the Gueldrian Veluwe; fully committed to capturing its seasonal shift like the romantic Oosterbeek painters before them. From the beginning, Fluisteraars has been known to experiment with influences of psychedelic folk. On ‘Bloem’, this input is lifted into a realm of psyched-out rural black metal mysticism. In parts reminding the listener of old psychedelic rock by the likes The Electric Prunes, the minimal but extremely effective orchestration in some parts even touches on a production style reminiscent of Lee Hazlewood. However, what Fluisteraars offer here are not the very long and drawn-out compositions by which they are perhaps more well known, but captivating and moving songs, nowhere crossing the eight-minute mark.) 21.00

JOHN FRUSCIANTE - Curtains LP (John Frusciante enjoyed two stints as guitarist in Red Hot Chili Peppers from 1988-1992 and 1998-2009. Frusciante’s solo albums have a bit of a cult following and there’s quite a lot of them too, 14 in fact. Curtains was his eighth album, originally released in 2005. It features guest spots from Autolux drummer, Carla Azar, upright bassist Ken Wild and regular collaborator, Mars Volta and At The Drive-In guitarist, Omar Rodrigues-Lopez.) 36.00

GOLEM MECANIQUE - Nona, Decima et Morta LP (editions mego - My first encounter with Karen Jebane (aka Golem Mecanique) was in the context of Echoés above the village of Le Saix in Haut-Alpes, in 2016. This tremendous location runs along a deep river canyon with a long cliff on one side and a small mountainside slope on the other. Importantly, and uniquely, some mad acoustician geniuses have built massive concrete amplified horns into the hillside to project sound against the cliff, activating the landscape's natural resonance and delay patterns. The Echoés organisers exploit this system once per year, in a type of private weekend. People arrive for a few evenings of music and enjoy the summer and loosen their minds a bit. I was to be performing later in the night (under the stars, one of my most memorable and moving experiences with music ever), but Karen began her performance directly at sunset, the color saturating the sky and shadows growing deep purple and reds. Instantly and for the next hour I felt like I had descending into the neolithic/mythological age. And into the pre-renaissance mindset of time where linearity was absent, cyclic experience unnessesary... just when it was/is. Karen's deep and evocative chanting voice reflected and called forth in multitude amongst the landscape. Bone-chilling, or, perhaps, penetrating down through the bone. A thick and immaterial drone wove itself into the air. Voices began emerging from the cliff's face, the stones itself were singing, seemingly liberated from their geological time space. I understood more about why archetypal memory forms of seers, divinatory, witches and sorceresses exist in our cultural long storylines, our shared sociopsychological neurological rationalisation constructs. Those necessary systems of attempting to interpret and communicate the world. It was an incredible moment within the blur between the night and the day. Although Karen's main instrument are her voice, and her mind, she also performs on organ, and also together with the Mediterranean folk music impressionada Marion Cousin on this deeply moving album. Karen also utilises a very special French instrument known as the BAB, a kind of mechanised vielle (hurdy-gurdy)... one of the more incredible inventions of the La Nòvia group's legendary instrument builder Léo Maurel. Basically, the instrument sounds like an arcane goth/spirit interpreting Phill Niblock's string pieces, in monochrome on the very edge of the invention of color grain. Marvellous - Stephen O'Malley, Paris January 2020) 22.00

JASMINE GUFFOND - Microphone Permission LP (edtions mego - Developed over a two year period, Microphone Permission, the new album by Australian producer Jasmine Guffond is an unsettling musical journey utilising contemporary tools of communication to display Guffond’s ongoing research into online surveillance and sound as a method of investigation. Source material on Microphone Permission are from various projects Guffond has been working on; a commission to sonify the data of the city of Melbourne, a dance performance about the future sounds of an extinct forest, an installation that sonifies Twitter meta data in real time, a job as a composer for a theatre work about music and feminism by five young female identifying performers in Western Sydney and a site specific installation at the Linachtalsperre dam that employed the harmonic frequencies of electric currents.) 22.00

KIM GORDON - No Home Record LP (matador - back in store - With a career spanning nearly four decades, Kim Gordon is one of the most prolific and visionary artists working today. A co-founder of the legendary Sonic Youth, Gordon has performed all over the world, collaborating with many of music’s most exciting figures including Tony Conrad, Ikue Mori, Julie Cafritz and Stephen Malkmus. Most recently, Gordon has been hitting the road with Body/Head, her spellbinding partnership with artist and musician Bill Nace. Despite the exhaustive nature of her résumé, the most reliable aspect of Gordon’s music may be its resistance to formula. Songs discover themselves as they unspool, each one performing a test of the medium’s possibilities and limits. Her command is astonishing, but Gordon’s artistic curiosity remains the guiding force behind her music.) 22.00

MUGA - There Is Nothing Eternal Exists LP (7inch - 無我 (Muga) was a melodic metallic Crust band from Nagoya, Japan. You love TRAGEDY, than this is what you need to listen to! Amazing neocrust! Apart from their two full-length releases, ”無我” and ”There Is Nothing Eternal Exists” there is the demo tape ”The Road of Asura” and a split with Swarrrm. ... This is the re-press on vinyl of their 2008 CD “There Is Nothing Eternal Exists”.) 13.00

PHAROAH SANDERS & IDRIS MUHAMMAD - Africa DLP (total waves - Pharoah ‘Farrell’ Sanders (born 1940) is a leading figure in the world of jazz and one of the last living legends with connections to players like Sun Ra and John Coltrane. His tenor saxophone playing has earned him royal status amongst free jazz players, critics and collectors. Originally Sanders was interested in urban blues music, but his high school teacher exposed him to jazz and this took Farrell in an entirely new direction. Once completing high school Sanders quickly packed his belongings and headed to Oakland, where he got a chance to work with musicians of high caliber such as saxophone players Sonny Simmons and Dewey Redman (who were both later to be major forces in new jazz and free jazz). Soon the young Pharoah would meet John Coltrane and would feel being attracted to the life as a professional musician. By the early sixties Sanders moved to New York where the major jazz scene was happening. Here he’d spent most his time honing his skills at rehearsals with Sun Ra….sadly he was not making much money with the Arkestra and soon found himself living on the streets, trying to stay up all night playing and then scrounging for money during the day, often selling blood to eat. Sanders recorded his debut album for ESP soon after, but it wasn’t until he started playing with his old friend John Coltrane that he would fully unleash the fury of his saxophone on the world of free jazz. The records Pharoah Sanders played on for Coltrane laid the foundation of what was to come for both the world of free jazz and for Sanders as a musician. After Coltrane’s tragic death Sanders would record further with Alice Coltrane, John’s widow, on the album Karma (1969 – Impulse!), which is universally accepted as Sanders’ masterpiece. Along with musicians Alice Coltrane and singer Leon Thomas, Sanders helped to create the genre of spiritual jazz. On the album we are presenting you today (Africa from 1987) Sanders plays with an all-star line-up consisting of Idris Muhammad, John Hicks and Curtis Lundy. Muhammad brings his trademark tight sense of timekeeping, but with a looseness that we love – and Lundy’s warm soulful bass does more than enough to give the set a sound bottom- all this while Hick’s free lyrical piano works nicely with Sander’s spiritual horn. The brilliant ‘Africa sessions’ features the quartet at their best…soulful but also searching for a strong groove at the same time. The music here is less ornamented than on most of Sanders’ studio recordings, where sextets, septets or larger lineups have been the norm, but this brilliant effort here remains every bit as compelling. Pharoah and his crew play with the utmost sensitivity and give a demonstration that shows us the full extent of their skills. Tidal Waves Music now proudly presents: the official reissue of this fantastic album, back available on vinyl for the first time since 1987. PHAROAH SANDERS - Moon Child LP (tidal waves - Pharoah ‘Farrell’ Sanders (born 1940) is a leading figure in the world of jazz and one of the last living legends with connections to players like Sun Ra and John Coltrane. Here he’d spent most his time honing his skills at rehearsals with Sun Ra….sadly he was not making much money with the Arkestra and soon found himself living on the streets, trying to stay up all night playing and then scrounging for money during the day, often selling blood to eat.) 40.00

REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER - Ascension DLP (yellow vinyl) (seasons of - REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER return in 2020 with 'Ascension', the closing chapter of their trilogy. Continuing the narration after ‘Exile’ (2015), the record marks both an end and a new beginning. The French band herald a new era and a new order with their own brand of black metal. REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER deliver a unique creation about the most remarkable protagonists from the holy writings. All trapped by fate, the inevitable way toward loss and defeat. All starts and all ends with a fall.) 27.00

RUPERT CLEMENDORE & JOHN BUDDY WILLIAMS - Le Jazz Primitif LP (smithsonoan - Originally released in 1961 on the Cook Laboratories label, Le Jazz Primitif From Trinidad is an extraordinary example of the jazz scene on this West Indies isle. Side A features a group led by RUPERT CLEMENDORE, an amazing drummer, percussionist, and vibes player, covering territory from American Jazz and R&B, to Calypso. Side B, led by bassist JOHN BUDDY WILLIAMS is more straight forward Calypso though it is not without Jazz and R&B influences. An incredible LP showcasing the diversity of the fruitful Trinidadian musical scene of the mid 20th century. Lovingly reissued in a perfect replica of the original Cook jacket.) 18.00

SIGHTLESS PIT - Grave Of A Dog LP (thrll jockey - Sightless Pit brings together three of the most ambitious and prolific minds in heavy music today. The trio, comprised of Lee Buford of The Body, Kristin Hayter of Lingua Ignota and Dylan Walker of Full of Hell, combine their profound talents and eclectic tastes to make music that is defiantly original and emotionally sublime. Grave of a Dog was crafted without any clear rules or guidelines beyond their desire to work with one another. The central pillar to what coheres the three into a unified voice throughout the album is a shared bleak vision of existence and a willingness to follow each other into bold new territory. While their collaboration borrows keystones from each members’ musical arsenal, from Buford’s singular percussion and production to Walker’s venomous howl to Hayter’s virtuosic voice, in tandem the trio carve out a path all their own for a wildly dynamic and exhilarating experience. Grave of a Dog was recorded throughout 2017-2019 at Machines With Magnets by Seth Manchester. The album recording process was extensive and intentional. Stretching over the course of two years, recording sessions by individual members shaped songs and continued to shape and inspire the next session be it by an individual or a pair. Walker describes the album’s core themes as being “about the anonymity of struggle, the darkness of a lifetime wasted warring against nature, god and everything else, only to be defeated… nothing… the end.” Throughout the album, Sightless Pit embody those struggles through building oceans of tension. A diversity of instruments and arrangements subvert expectations at every turn and bring new depth to each passage with the band utilizing samples of contra bassoon and Rufai mystic rituals while doing away with guitar entirely. Sightless Pit is a group of expansive ideas, extensive experience working together and shared vision. Over the course of the eight tracks, the trio reflect the extremes and emotional weight of their world view through elegiac dirges, driving beats, explosive crescendos. Together, three strong voices unite to create a work of remarkable clarity of expression of enormous sorrow, futility and most of all, beauty.) 26.00

SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE - Companion Rises LP (darg city - The new Six Organs of Admittance song title says it all: “Two Forms Moving.” Musically, a beatific bongo-driven acoustic form interlocks with a metallic guitar with intermittent synth radiation form, as two distinct vocal forms join together too. It’s good fun, like Faust producing The Revolution, with one of Prince’s hottest solos. Inspirational couplet: “two forms moving / two forms living / form a counterpoint / in double giving.” Universal!) 29.00

STEPHEN O'MALLEY - Auflösung Der Zeit LP (editons mego - Produced within the context of ‘The Guidebook of Church Burners’ publication release, this performance was recorded at visual arts institution LE BAL in Paris, May 4th 2018. Published by Païen in a limited edition, the book explores and transforms into an abstract narration the multiple facets of black metal iconography and history. Emerging from a dialogue between sound and image, the otherworldly piece created for that evening by Stephen O’Malley is a result of this collaboration. – Emilie Lauriola Dedicated to Iancu Dumitrescu.) 23.00

TIME LURKER / CEPHEIDE - split LP (New split album from French atmospheric bands TIME LURKER & CEPHEIDE!) 18.00

TURIA - degen van licht LP (eisen - Turia`s upcoming record is an ode to the ageless lure of the unyielding mountains, and an exploration of the sweltering warmth which encompasses these heights every summer. Crackling green pastures full of life morph into scorching fields of withered grass and decaying alpine herbs. Shrieks of lammergeiers prowling for the bones of decomposing creatures reverberate throughout the high summits. The purgatory potential of the massif is revealed when death prevails. Witnessing these changes and enduring the delirious heat formed the basis for “Degen van Licht”. The maniacal drumming, tormented screams and spectral guitars coalesce into a sound that will be familiar for long-time followers of the band, while further developing their signature psychedelic aural structures. Cavernous reverbs evoke great depths and heights, while analog delays reminisce the phantasmal rays of the sun. The years of playing live across Europe since Turia’s last album “Dede Kondre” are revealed in an increased complexity of songwriting. Taking cues from mid-era Bathory to early Hawkwind, moving between ferocious sonic avalanches and churning dirges, “Degen van Licht” is sure to expand Turia’s idiosyncratic style of black metal into new territories. The album is once again produced, recorded, and mixed by Turia themselves with assistance of longtime collaborator M. Koops. A greater clarity in the production is enhanced by the tasteful mastering courtesy of Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios) 21.00

ENVY - The Fallen Crimson CD (pelagic - The Fallen Crimson – the first new studio album from Envy in five years – is a record that almost never happened. It bears the stories and scars of a band whose relationships with each other are as dynamic and progressive as their music.) 14.00

FLUISTERAARS - bloem CD (eisen - After more than four long years, the enigmatic black metal act Fluisteraars return with their third full-length record, “Bloem”. Thematically, “Bloem” conjures old and reimagined folktales and legends in which flowers act as both symbols for birth and regeneration as well as crippling decay.) 13.00
