ERIK NERVOUS - Ice Cream 7“ (total punk - ERIK NERVOUS's first release of 2017, following a stunning first season which ended with him being crowned rookie of the year, and let me be the first to inform you there is no sophomore slump happening here. This is Erik’s third vinyl release and in my humble opinion his best yet. “Ice Cream Cone” finds Erik at his most frantic. A fast paced bouncy minute and a half ode to stabbing someone in the face with an ice cream cone. Erik keeps the stabby theme up on the B-side with the jerky neck injury inducing hit “Children Stabbing Things.” Two songs, both about stabbing, both 100% TOTAL PUNK! Edition of 500 in hand-stamped red covers.) 7.00

PERVERTS AGAIN - My Accident 7“ (total punk - Six years in and here it is, our 50th single on Total Punk. Including represses that’s over 30,000 handstamped covers, hundreds of blisters, and countless hours of mind numbing labor. That being the case we wanted to go big with number 50. Cleveland’s PERVERTS AGAIN blew me away with last year’s Our Big Party 12” on Non-Commercial Records and were quickly elevated to favorite band status (not to mention their mascot game is on point). Well the Perverts are back with two more of their signature, warbled, repetitive punk incantations. Plodding bass and drums, slow macho riffs, and gang chants all moved forward by the monotone delivery and of the head Pervert. Weird, catchy, sarcastic, and 100% TOTAL PUNK. Look for an LP on Total Punk later this year. Edition of 500 in hand-stamped red covers.) 7.00

AGE COIN - Performance LP (psoh - Posh Isolation’s elusive Age Coin duo impress with the cranky post-techno deviation of Performance; a lean, nervy and dread bass-fuelled follow-up to their Perceptions 12” - reissued by Luke Younger’s Alter in 2013 - and interim excursions in their other projects, inc. Vår, Marching Church, and the excellent Yen Towers. ) 20.00

BEACH FOSSILS - Somersault LP (Beach Fossils present their first recorded work since 2013. Somersault is a heartfelt indie album from Brooklyn, notable for featuring guest vocals from Cities Aviv and Rachel Goswell of Slowdive! Elsewhere, the band’s guitars etc. line-up is bolstered by strings, harpsichord and other lovely chamber instruments. ) 18.00

BLAZE FOLEY - Lost Muscle Shoals Recordings LP (Reissue of the first album recorded by the legendary Austin singer-songwriter who was tragically murdered in 1989. Recorded with Muscle Shoals studio musicians in 1984, the album was never distributed due to “some trouble with the law” resulting in the confiscation of most of the 500 copies originally pressed. These recordings find BLAZE FOLEY in a rare studio setting performing ten of his well-known compositions including the apparently timeless resistance song, Oval Room, originally written with Ronald Reagan in mind. The outstanding production values and musicianship breathe fresh air into these classic Blaze compositions. The original recordings have been digitally mastered by Austin engineer MARK HALLMAN. Foley’s songs have been recorded by Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, John Prine, Lyle Lovett and others. Lucinda Williams’ “Drunken Angel,” and Townes Van Zandt’s “Blaze’s Blues,” personal tributes to their good friend Foley, have added to a legacy once nearly forgotten. A major motion picture on Blaze directed by Ethan Hawke is in production and scheduled for theatrical release in 2018.) 18.00

THE BUG vs. EARTH - Concrete Desert DLP + 12“ (ninja tune - Bonus 12” included with the LP version features two of the album tracks vocalled by JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick)! Like master painters exploring a subject over a lifetime’s work, Kevin Martin and Dylan Carlson – The Bug and Earth, respectively – have each been mining and defining their genres for more than 20 years. They’re united by an interest in – really an obsession with – heaviness. They search for, examine and break the boundaries between beautiful and ugly, minimal and maximal, light and dark – but The Bug and Earth always make music that is heavy in the most thrilling of ways. These two uncompromising outsiders met via the visual artist Simon Fowler (Angels & Devils.) Simon arranged for Dylan to come to a King Midas Sound gig, but Martin’s trademark use of a powerful strobe light meant that the epileptic Carlson couldn’t enter the room. Undeterred, Carlson featured King Midas Sound’s music in a podcast, and the pair eventually decided to collaborate around “Angels & Devils.” ) 27.00

CHASTITY BELT - I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone LP (hardly art - A few years ago, while in a tour van somewhere in Idaho, the members of Chastity Belt—Julia Shapiro, Gretchen Grimm, Lydia Lund, and Annie Truscott—opted to pass the time in a relatively unusual fashion: They collectively paid one another compliments, in great and thoughtful detail. This is what we like best about you, this is why we love you. ) 18.00

DAUDYFLIN - Ofbeldi LP (iron lung - Absolutely furious Icelandic hardcore punk. And for you non-natives the title Ofbeldi translates to Violence which is a very appropriate description of the sounds you'll find here. Twisting dagger fuzz guitar, murder-chorused bass, brass knuckle beats and vocals that melt a body down like an acid bath. A real mean ear fucker. Touring the US in July 2017 so watch out for that! Includes a download.) 18.00

DESIRE - Under Your Spell LP (PRESSED ON 180-GRAM OPAQUE ELECTRIC PURPLE VINYL!!! A collection of classic DESIRE tracks remixed and remastered. Features "Under Your Spell," "Don't Call," "Mirroir Mirroir (Instrumental Dub)," "Under Your Spell (Vocal & Synthesizer)," "I Can Dream About You (8 Track Version)," "and "Don't Call (Vocal & Synthesizer).“) 22.00

DIREWOLVES - The Great Year LP (throatruiner - Three years after their debut album "Aegri Somnia", Lorient, France's DIREWOLVES return with "The Great Year". This new six tracks EP focuses on the more energetic facet of their sound, refining the band's revigorating blend of melodic crust and screamo-influenced hardcore. Recorded & mixed by Guillaume Doussaud at Swan Sound Studios (Amanda Woodward, Aussitôt Mort…), mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Studios (Coliseum, The Sword, Jawbox…) and with artwork once again designed by Førtifem, "The Great Year" is another implacable display of the band's abrasive yet anthemic vision of punk/hardcore.) 12.00

DO MAKE SAY THINK - Stubborn Persistent Illusions DLP (constellation - Do Make Say Think has been widely celebrated as one of the preeminent instrumental rock bands of the 90s-00s. Stubborn Persistent Illusions is the group’s first album in eight years – and a stellar addition to one of the most consistent, inventive, exuberant, satisfying, and critically acclaimed discographies in the ‘post-rock’ canon. Following Other Truths (2009), the five members of DMST pursued other creative projects, while all continuing to stay firmly rooted in Toronto. An invite from Heartland Festival and Constellation to play the label’s 15th Anniversary shows in Europe in fall 2012 brought DMST back to the stage in very fine form – the band worked up a bevy of gems from their catalogue and absolutely killed live. Stubborn Persistent Illusions is built from this distinctive toolkit, at once familiar and as fresh as anything DMST has committed to tape. A short Bhuddist poem about boundlessness and recurrence informs this profoundly imagistic listening experience, amplified by the beautiful original album art paintings commissioned from Marianne Collins. Do Make Say Think enter their third decade with a new album that helps reaffirm the promise of genuinely emotive, narrative, restorative and life-affirming instrumental rock music – and will surely rank among the group's best.) 28.00

DZELTENIE PASTNIEKI - Lentu Gabalini LP (dark entries - Dzeltenie Pastnieki are a Latvian new wave band formed in 1979 in Riga, Latvia. Their name means “The Yellow Postmen" in Latvian. The constant core members of the band have remained Ingus Baušķenieks (bass, keyboards, vocals) and Viesturs Slava (guitar, keyboards, vocals), with Zigmunds Streiķis (keyboards) and Ilgvars Rišķis (drums). They released six albums between 1981 and 1987. All were recorded at the band’s home studio and distributed on 1/4" reel-to-reel tape and compact cassette, with no artwork. Their sound ranges from electronic post-punk to experimental tape manipulation all sung in Latvian. ‘Lentu Gabaliņi’ is a 10-track compilation featuring songs from each of the band’s six albums, all songs appearing on the vinyl for the first time. pilsēta’ (The Depressing City) was assembled from out-takes, alternate versions, and solo tracks by individual members of the band in 1986. ‘Naktis’ (Nights, 1987) could be seen as a 'back to the roots' effort that made use of the progress of home studio advances made by Baušķenieks over the previous years. All songs have been mastered from original tapes at Bicycle Systems, Rīga, by Ingus Baušķenieks and remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket features an photo of the group from 1981 with textured wallpaper designed by Eloise Leigh to represent tape pieces. Each copy includes a double sides 11x11” insert with never before seen photos and liner notes.) 20.00

DREAM MACHINE - The Illusion LP (catsle face - When Matthew Melton told us he had two brand new records for us to hear, a final Warm Soda record as well as a new band with his wife Doris called Dream Machine, I must admit there was a little sadness that Warm Soda had run its course. Then I put on Dream Machine and poof, a puff of smoke and a familiar looking magician appears, beckoning for me to jump through his top hat and we’re off! The vibe makes a deft jump from Warm Soda’s terse power pop to tongue in groove swinging proto-metal a la Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple, Heart, and more than a hint of LA’s dark masters The Doors…Doris absolutely murders the organ all over this thing, along with some perfectly placed synthesiser pepper - it’s just jammed with hooks and pulsing vintage vibes but in an unassailably clever and accomplished manner. This band is going to be the background party band of the summer I can already tell, this sounds like a saturday night satanic ritual in a sunsetting Austin backyard, everyone dressed to the nines and we’re fuckin goin’ there man. If I didn’t know Melton already I would have lost my shit seeing this out in the wild - expertly played, fantastically recorded (at A = 432 hz, by the way) and just a real tasty party platter of a record here for you.) 18.00

ELDER - Reflections Of A Floating World DLP (It’s time to get euphoric. With EDLER's fourth full-length album, an epic piece of rock music will be released unto the world. And we think that’s a reason to celebrate. Band members and friends NICK DISALVO, JACK DONOVAN and MATT COUTO already dismissed any last remains of stoner metal stereotypes on Lore (2015). Their current album, which was written following the long and acclaimed Lore tour in moments of intense creativity, is a journey into prog rock and psychedelic worlds. Six monumental songs, huge in sound, each of them their own cosmic expedition. What begins as driving mid-tempo rock filled with heavy guitar riffs repeatedly erupts into melodic tangents and clever variations. The high demands that DiSalvo places on his own songwriting seem to become more unfettered from minute to minute—as does the pleasure of listening to him. Guest musicians MICHAEL SAMOS and MIKE RISBERG have added additional guitars, pedal steel and keyboards to the trio, making Elder’s sound more voluminous than ever, and the influences found here range from '70s prog dinosaurs such as Yes, King Crimson or Pink Floyd to their kindred spirits in the European psychedelic and space rock scenes. And it is of course a cliché, but Elder bring their own organism to life from all these influences.) 31.00

GARY WILSON & TREDICI BACCI - Another Lonely Night In Brooklyn LP (feeding tube - "Totally great live LP by GARY WILSON (the world's forgotten boy) with a cover photo that makes him look like a dead ringer for the late Mike Kelley, back when Mike was a fake hippie. Anyway, Gary shouldn't need much of an introduction. If you don't know him, you might well access one of the many other LPs of his we've done. But then again, Another Lonely Night In Brooklyn might be just the place to start your own little wagon rolling down the road of Gary Wilson fandom. The tunes on this album are representative of the live set Gary's been doing lately, with a heavy emphasis on tracks originally recorded around the time of his 1977 breakout LP, You Think You Really Know Me. What lifts things to a higher-than-usual level is the lovely musical backing provided by TREDICI BACCI. This New York City unit formed to perform classic-era faux Italian film music, but they really find their own special place as Gary's backing group. Wilson's best songs of longing and loss have always been built around strong narrative centers as much as melodies, but Tredici Bacci's expansive accompaniment manages to give these narratives a width that is positively cinematic. And I'm not trying to put down Gary's other backing bands or anything, but I think anyone who's familiar with Wilson's work will have a similar response. The songs are not re-cast, but they feel a lot less compressed now, and this open-ness gives them a universality they didn't always have. No one would ever dare suggest that Wilson isn't a weirdo of the first order, but the sound of this album (and the jocularity of Gary's on stage raps) might well bring him to a whole new audience. Let the era of Wilson-Mania begin."—Byron Coley, 2017. Housed in silkscreened fold-over covers by NEIL BURKE. Includes a bonus CD version. Edition of 500.) 25.00

GRACE SINGS SLUDGE - Life With Dick LP (Life With Dick is the new album by Grace Sings Sludge (The Sandwitches, The Fresh and Onlys). It’s the continuation of a world Grace Cooper began illustrating as one of the lead songwriters of the San Francisco band The Sandwitches, and on her previous three collections of solo home recordings (released as limited run cassette tapes). As with the other solo albums, Cooper does the artwork for the album. Her delicate yet disturbing pen and watercolor creations are the perfect accompaniment to her songs, as though they’ve emerged from the same troubled dreams. Though understated, a sense of urgency permeates this record. Cooper’s voice dances through the songs with a chameleon quality that’s sultry and commanding on “In Spite of Doom” and desperate, vulnerable and sharp on “Can’t Play” and “Everlasting Arms.” Her lyrics contain the weariness of giving in to a love requited, and the unsettling realities of maintaining that love. In some pieces it seems she no longer knows where to direct her endless yearning. She observes on “Bad Timing Pt. 2”: “Two boats they don’t meet up in the night, they glide by each other and forever out of sight... they might just be the lucky ones.” The spookiness of Cooper’s sound—a sound influential in some of The Sandwitches’ best songs like ”Joe Says” and “In the Garden”—is still present here and especially on the darker second side. Piercing guitars and heartbeat drums on “Everlasting Arms” warn that “something’s growing in the basement” and something comes “from within.” The recording quality of this release is raw but it is far from being a “garage record.” It is a recording brought down from the attic, with no date and with no intended audience, and is best listened to alone.) 20.00

HARRY TAUSSIG & MAX OCHS - The Music Of Harry Taussig & Max Ochs LP (Fifty years ago, HARRY TAUSSIG and MAX OCHS were featured on a sampler LP, Contemporary Guitar - Spring '67, alongside John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and Bukka White. Both guitarists were "re-discovered" by Tompkins Square in 2005, and have since released new recordings for the label. On May 26th, Tompkins Square will release The Music of Harry Taussig & Max Ochs featuring newly recorded material, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Takoma sampler they first appeared on. The pair will also meet for the first time and play select shows on the West Coast. The May 28th concert in Berkeley will also feature Tompkins Square recording artist Richard Osborn, a student of the late Robbie Basho.) 18.00

HOUSEWIVES - s/t LP (HOUSEWIVES are: Industrious music for industrious people. A few years ago, London, England’s Housewives, in the finest of post-punk traditions, began making an intensely focused racket. Their debut took the form of a five-song limited-edition cassette put out by Faux Discx. This self-titled EP had a startling power and hypnotic force that is all too rare in this era of practiced disaffection. Instead of pretending to be bored by this evershifting world, Housewives' approach revealed a microscopic attention to detail. Despite their using the traditional instruments of rock n’ roll, Housewives invert these powerful totems to their own ends. This is music that earns its praise from such high priests of refusal as Charles Hayward (This Heat, Camberwell Now). Like an Adam Curtis documentary, Housewives' music that takes on social constructs, looking for a way to disassemble these ridiculous structures. Delivered at a volume-enhancing 45 rpms, Housewives’ 12” EP is a diamond-hard gem of post-punk.) 20.00

INSTITUTE - Subordination LP (sacre dbones - Since their first demo in 2013, the Austin expats in Institute have edged their raw anarcho punk blitz into something much more expansive and nuanced. 2014’s Salt EP marked the beginning of the band’s working relationship with Sacred Bones, and it explored longer, more experimental song forms. Catharsis, the band’s debut full-length, was another huge push forward, with a slightly cleaner production and some krautrock influence creeping in around the edges. Subordination sees them push themselves further out of genre, incorporating hard rock and glam and writing some of the most diverse material of their career. The songs on Subordination address the lonely sham of playing by the rules, the search for money and power, the annihilation of a true personality, and the standards of normalcy that from childhood conditions us to feel abject.) 20.00

JANITOR SCUM - Scenes From The Grocery Store LP (lumpy - Upbeat noisy new wave from this genius one woman group outta Calgary. Scratchy guitars and abrasive pouting vocals tracked over a thudding drum machine makes for a punk/wave mess to remember. Nine tracks with an incredible and infectious closing number “Vacuum Rebuilder.”) 18.00

JOHN COLTRANE & ALICE COLTRANE - Cosmic Music LP (John Coltrane transformed the inner architecture of jazz, throughout the mid-1950s and 1960s and long after his premature death at age 40 in 1967. No other American musician could be said to be at the spiritual center of the ‘60s musical universe as Trane influenced Albert Ayler, La Monte Young, Jimi Hendrix and everybody in between. Cosmic Music, originally self-released by Alice Coltrane in 1968 and later issued by Impulse!, features two tracks (“Manifestation” and “Rev. King”) by John Coltrane’s legendary final quintet that were recorded in San Francisco on February 2nd, 1966 and two more (“Lord Help Me To Be” and “The Sun”) from Alice Coltrane’s very first session as a bandleader, recorded six months after her husband’s passing. “Manifestation” opens with the group already in mid-flight: Trane’s fierce tenor leads the way with Pharoah Sanders’ blistering sax and Alice’s powerful chords hearing his call. On “Rev. King,” Trane introduces a lyrical theme and then the composition erupts into fiery incantations, while Jimmy Garrison’s bass throbs alongside the propulsive, gravity-defying drumming of Rashied Ali. Foreshadowing her majestic debut, A Monastic Trio, “Lord Help Me To Be” brings Alice’s celestial piano playing and inspired improvisations to the foreground with Sanders, Garrison and drummer Ben Riley rumbling in tow. “The Sun,” a meditative ballad with subtle urgency, perfectly closes the album’s contemplative circle. As John Coltrane recites on the final track, “May there be peace and love and perfection throughout all creation.”) 25.00

LEJSOVKA & FREUND - Music For Small Ensemble & Computer DLP (mie - I’ve always thought it’d be really cool to have someone write something smart and poetic about a release of ours, but here I am again trying to type this out myself and not have it be boring and embarrassing. I don’t know, I guess I’ll just be blunt and direct and hit “send” ASAP. Music for Small Ensemble & Computer is a collection of what I call the “DIY shitty classical” pieces me and Linda have been working on for a couple years. Using an inherited piano, freeware, and the basement floorcore spirit of discovery to trespass into a typically more rarefied style. And thankfully a few actually-trained friends lent their skills to the mess. To me, it’s the sound of the two of us struggling to find peace and stability for ourselves, family, and small community in an often chaotic and hostile world. I’m really excited about this collection. We previously released these pieces on as-limited-as-possible 12” runs and went through them very quickly, so it’s cool that MIE is giving them a wider issue. Linda and I have made quite a few records now, but to me this is really the closest to being “us”. Put a headphone jack in my tombstone and have this playing. Does any of this make any sense?-- Keith Freund.) 25.00

LIFE'S BLOOD - Hardcore A.d. 1988 LP (LIFE'S BLOOD were a legendary short lived band from New York City. Formed in 1987, The band played 20 shows and recorded two radio shows, a demo at Don Fury, one 7-inch, "Defiance," released on Combined Effort Records and appeared on the seminal New Breed tape comp in 1988. In these short 14 months as a band they left an indelible mark on the history of hardcore punk, as their sharp, earnest, and challenging lyrics backed with remarkably sturdy, dissonant and distorted hardcore songs emerged at a time where the focus of underground hardcore had been blurred by commercialism, crossover and violence. Hardcore A.D. 1988 collects 27 songs from their Defiance EP, demo tape, compilation tracks, their posthumous split EP with Sticks And Stones, WFMU and WNYU recordings and live tracks, Members went on to play in BORN AGAINST, MENACE DEMENT, SINKING BODY, MEN'S RECOVERY PROJECT COLLAPSE and MY RIFLE. Features new liner notes from guitarist ADAM NATHANSON, extensive band notes compiled by bassist NEIL BURKE and a ton of photos and flyers. The LP comes in a Stoughton tip-on gatefold with a 11x22" insert and download card.) 18.00

LOSS - Horizonless DLP (prfound - Six doomed years in creation since their debut album Despond, Nashville, Tennessee melancholic death / funeral doom metal band Loss have completed their anticipated masterwork of pure doom death worship Horizonless, one of the most anticipated metal releases of the year. Reaching further into the void and traveling even more beyond the realms of hopelessness and despair, this album is a journey devoid of all hope and redemption, one where heartbreak, total death and never-ending despondency prevails. Produced and engineered by Billy Anderson (Pallbearer, Bell Witch, Neurosis, Red House Painters) in the band’s hometown, giving the band their most monumental sound yet, Horizonless (which also features guest vocals from Wrest of Leviathan) forges the band’s sound tapestry into more vast and sprawling territory: heavier, darker, more melancholic, and sorrowful. Where their previous album laid down the foundation that gave them the reputation as the saddest and bleakest band in the movement, this latest forges that funeral march onwards towards ruin, decay, and utter oblivion.) 32.00

MIKA VAINIO - Reat LP (elektro - The first release in 8 years on EMD brings Mika Vainio in full action. Tracks with beats, groovy, experimental and/or hardcore all on one album, initiating the continuation of the label's activities with a series of releases. The logo on the cover can be read "reat" and means both a bad behaving child and something really evil. It is also a logo of a big company, whose name will not be mentioned, since EMD is not an advertising agency, to be highlighted here for the newcomers.Mika Vainio invents sublime electronic scapes with a poetic approach. Half of the tracks have his caracteristic imprint the other half reach out to another wasteland or universe, at a minimum. A trust-worthy cooperation between two underground submarine sandwiches.) 18.00

MOLLY NILSSON - Imaginations LP (night people - That we live in a world changed is beyond question. Since 2015’s Zenith, Berlin-based songwriter Molly Nilsson has surrendered to the world, traveling from Mexico to Glasgow, observing the changing socio-political landscape and imagining a better world. For an artist who has so successfully created her own environment and gradually let others in, her 8th studio album Imaginations sees Nilsson directly engaging with her surroundings, engendering change and allowing love in. Imaginations dreams big, recasting storming, stadium-sized pop into the internal language of the solo auteur. Imaginations is not escapism, it’s a kaleidoscope and an alternative view, an agent of change. On Imaginations Molly is recasting her interior monologue as a prism through which to see the world, a means to live differently and to reject the status quo. We can Think Pink, change our destiny together. This is an optimism about the future when we need it the most. “New boys, new girls.. give me your smile and I’ll give you mine” Clearly, we are living through a transformation but with alchemists like Molly Nilsson, we’re never alone in the process.) 21.00

THE MUFF DIVERS - Dreams Of The Gentlest Texture LP (lumpy - Chicago group’s debut LP. 10 songs of catchy drum machine Glam with a hearty reverence for KISS and the Ramones. Some high voltage pogo speed punk rock n roll! Mastered by GEZA X.) 22.00

NO FAITH - Force Subservience LP (iron lung - Members of DISCORDANCE AXIS, DEMON BROTHER and VACCINE combine forces on Forced Subservience, a constant hammering heart of power violence bursting from inside a wall of harsh power electronics. An unstoppable mix of fury, vitriol, sound and scum for the modern era of world failure. This LP, their second, primarily serves to expose the corruption of war and the abuses of authority society has come to accept as commonplace. Its a sad state of affairs today. The alarms are sounding... Recorded, mixed and mastered by WILL KILLINGSWORTH. Includes a download.) 18.00

NUMENOREAN - demo 2014 LP (vendetta - I was captivated from the first moments by the reverberating solo guitar melody and continued to be carried away by the song as it evolved, moving through soft passages of sorrowful meditation and powerful waves of riffs coming down like sheets of rain, and concluding with the strumming of an acoustic guitar." - NoCleanSinging ) 13.00

RAZZIA - Rest Of 1981 - 1990 LP (Die LP erscheint im Inside-out Cover, inklusive 6-seitigem Einleger.

ROE ENNEY - Glare LP (root strata - A somnambulant journey through psychedelic bedroom fantasy-scapes, Glare is Roe Enney's first proper LP after only a few under-the-radar cassette releases on Phaserprone, Discriminate, and Piero since 2011. Recorded over the last couple years in the late evening at the cusp of the witching hour, Glare unfolds like a manifesto on the devolution of communication. An experiment of thresholds: electronic, political, poetical, Roe Enney touches on the likes of Tara Cross or Anne Clark, but only briefly before hurtling into a subterranean world of closed-off obsessions. Enney on the release: "The electronic artist is always enmeshed in a battle of thresholds. What does one do? This is because she, the electronic spirit, is always in the process of change. This spirit is never stable, it is tenuous. It is a moving hierarchy, a royal island with a v. real topography, with its own guard, observation deck, casino. The music on this record firmly pledges allegiance to this island, and yet it is out somewhere on the shore, perhaps 'dreaming of elsewhere.' Yet one cannot help what one is. Perhaps the record is cast-off." Mastered by Sean McCann; Cut at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. Includes download code.) 18.00

SHIN JOONG HYUN - Beautiful Rivers And Mountains: The Psychedelic Rock Sound Of South Korea’s Shin DLP (Inspired by jazz, soul, and traditional Korean music, SHIN JOONG HYUN started his career in the mid-1950s, performing for US troops stationed locally after the Korean War armistice of 1953. While his English language skills were limited, the young player had no trouble communicating through his trusty electric guitar, but Shin was no mere 6-string slinger for hire, he was able to communicate something far beyond your average professional musician. Production work and extensive songwriting followed, not to mention a steady stream of electrifying performances. Gaining momentum by the moment, Shin developed popular success across South Korea molding protégés like singing duo the Pearl Sisters and folk-psych songbird Kim Jung Mi into top pop stars. From there it was hit after hit. The late 1960s rock explosion and an influx of imported music from The Beatles, Jimmy Smith, and The Jefferson Airplane all informed and inspired Mr. Shin to elevate his own craft. Even experimental trips via a crew of local hippies also took the music man to new heights despite Korean law forbidding such rebellion. Drug use was illegal and punishable as a serious offence. Park Chung-hee, then President of South Korea began to closely monitor Shin’s “subversive” activities. After refusing to write a song in praise of the political leader, the musician was labeled unpatriotic and his career was instantly snuffed-out through a series of surveillance, torture, and institutional confinement.) 30.00

SLEEP - vol. 1 LP (tupalo - restock - Volume One is the debut album. It was the only album recorded with second guitarist Justin Marler, before he became an Orthodox monk. Volume One showcases a darker sound and stronger doom metal influence than Sleep's later work. ) 18.00

SUBHUMANS - 29:29 Split Vision LP (blurrg - 29:29 is the 6th full length release by Subhumans, following on from 1986's EP LP, this was originally released in 1987 on Bluurg.) 21.00

SUBHUMANS - From Cradle To Grave LP (REMASTERED AND REISSUED!!! From The Cradle To The Grave is the second full length album by the SUBHUMANS. It was originally released in 1983 on Bluurg records. CD packaged in a deluxe digipak, LP pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Both formats include a booklet and poster.) 21.00

SUBHUMANS - EP LP (REISSUED!!! EP LP is a collection of EPs THE SUBHUMANS put out before their first LP. The Day The Country Died, was released. This complete collection was originally released in 1986 on the band's own label, Bluurg Records.) 25.00

SUBHUMANS - Time Flies + Rats LP (Bluurg records are proud to announce the reissues of the SUBHUMANS back catalog. Remastered and presented in a deluxe digipacks (CDs) and gatefold sleeves (LPs) with all original artwork, these re-releases give you another chance to hear one of the original UK punk bands at their very best. Time Flies/Rats is the third release by the Subhumans. It was originally two 7-inch EPs which were later combined to make this album, released in 1983 on Bluurg records.) 21.00

THE TERMINALS - Antiseptic LP (ba da bing - The Terminals are the best rock band New Zealand has ever produced. Period. There’s heavy competition, but believe it. No group has lasted over three decades and maintained such intensity, structure and mood better than the core team of Steven Cogle and Peter Stapleton. Cogle’s voice is a quavering incantation of deep spell-casting, throwing more dirt onto already gritty guitar squalls. Stapleton’s rhythm section propels songs through lightning charges of tempo and energy. Age has only embedded the band’s mastery of deep sonic realms. The ten years between their last album, Last Days of the Sun, and the release of Antiseptic whip by in a flash when these records are played next to each other—they never disappoint, they never relent. This latest album does mark some changes, however. Longtime guitarist Brian Crook now lives in the California desert, so Nicole Moffat has replaced him, providing violin and vocals. Mick El Borado thickens the atmosphere with his improvisational keyboard playing. A group that has stayed together so long knows instinctively where a song can go, although it is often the maverick pieces—ones that at first don’t seem to belong—that end up on the records. Their work together has become only more sagacious, and The Terminals don’t waste an intended or improvised note. This is a peerless rock album—think of another group who’ve stayed as heavy, as broke, and consistent for this long.) 18.00

THOMAS LEER - 1979 DLP (dark entries - Thomas Leer is an innovative electronic musician from Port Glasgow, Scotland. He began singing for a local band at age 13, and was writing his own music by 18. By 1977, he had moved to London, where he fronted Pressure, a Clash-esque punk group with fellow experimental Scottish musician Robert Rental. After hearing Kraftwerk, Leer became interested in synthesizers – not long after, he was exploring the experimental techniques of Eno, Zappa, Beefheart, Faust, and Can. In 1978, Thomas released his first single, “Private Plane”/“International”, on his own Oblique Records that we reissued in 2015.) 25.00

TONY CONRAD - Ten Years Alive On The Infinite Plain DLP (superior - Ten Years Alive On The Infinite Plain is the quintessential work of artist/filmmaker/composer Tony Conrad. Comprised of both film installation and minimalist score for amplified strings, Ten Years leaps across genre and medium to connect his revolutionary structural filmmaking with the experiments in long-duration sound that Conrad had begun in the 1960s as part of the Theatre of Eternal Music. "Ten Years began with image before sound," writes Andrew Lampert, "a row of quadruple projections arranged side-by-side, all the shuffling stripes cascading into each other. Over the next two hours the music throbbed and the projectors incrementally shifted inwards, their beams gradually uniting to form one pulsating, overlapping picture." For its 1972 premiere at New York's The Kitchen, Ten Years included Conrad on violin as well as Rhys Chatham and Laurie Spiegel performing on instruments of the composer's own making. Chatham played the Long String Drone – a 6-foot long strip of wood with bass strings, electric pickup, tuning keys, tape, rubber band and metal hardware – while Spiegel carried out an arrhythmic bass pulse throughout. Superior Viaduct is honored to present this previously unreleased recording of Ten Years Alive On The Infinite Plain's breathtaking premier performance. As Chatham recounts in the liner notes, "When I first listened to this recording after not hearing it for over 40 years, it transported me back to the early Kitchen and the heyday of early minimalism, played outside the Dream Syndicate.”) 32.00

TRAUMA HARNESS - Halloween Songs Vol. 1 LP (A collection of three Halloween-themed tapes released between 2012 and 2015 by this beloved long running St. Louis band. Channeling elements of post-punk, synthpop, and '80s horror movie music, TRAUMA HARNESS provide a delightful and ominous soundtrack for autumn. It’s tin can punk blended with a pop nightmare; if you’re waiting for October this should hold you over. Includes covers of John Carpenter, Alice Cooper, and Seige!) 17.00

TRAUMA HARNESS - Tried My Hardest LP (Smoking debut album from St. Louis finest punk group. They definitely love Wire but also include some nods to power pop and synth music of the late '70s. Memorable radioactive post-punk songs peppered with gloomy dust. A strong release. Art by AMOS of Tenement.) 17.00

ULRIKA SPACEK - Modern English Decoration LP (Ulrika Spacek return with the release of their second album, Modern English Decoration. Much like their debut album released in early 2016, the band chose to record, produce and mix the entirety of the record in their shared house – a former art gallery called ‘KEN’, so named because of a cryptic inscription found above the front door. Not just a studio and home, KEN is essentially the band’s hub, a space in which the surrounding ephemera of videos, artwork and even band photos are all created. And focus is the abiding term: this is an album designed to be just so - a 45 minute commitment, a surrender.) 22.00

VATICAN SHADOW - Rubbish Of The Floodwaters LP (ost gut - Some resurrect themselves after near-death experiences in politics, while others continue to appear politically alive even when they have actually died.” In time for the 20th anniversary of his label Hospital Productions, Dominick Fernow offers the first release of his Techno-focused moniker Vatican Shadow on Ostgut Ton, following up on his Berghain residency and joining Ostgut Booking in 2016 with his Vatican and Prurient projects. ) 12.00

THE WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND - Vol. 3 LP (Released in July 1968 on Reprise Records, Vol.3: A Child’s Guide To Good & Evil is considered to be the band’s most accomplished work and a masterpiece of the psychedelic genre. Released just nine months after Vol. 2, the band explores their incredibly creative psychedelic pop song writing with an accomplished mastery of studio techniques . Featuring iconic original artwork by JOHN VAN HAMERSVELD (Beatles, Rolling Stones) A long awaited reissue from the master tapes. “One of the 40 greatest Psychedelic Records of all time.”—Mojo Magazine. Limited edition MONO pressing. Packaged with printed inner sleeve with master reel photos.) 25.00

V/A - Saigon Supersound Vol. 1 DLP (What started as an idea in 2012 now becomes reality with the release of Saigon Supersound Vol. 1, compiled by Jan Hagenkötter. A compilation about the story of a musical era in Vietnam that was almost lost, made of tracks from 1965 to 1975, the so-called "Golden Music" period in the south of Vietnam, where—under difficult circumstances—a lively pop culture had developed. This period is characterized by the fusion of Vietnamese music with western pop music. The compilation includes some tunes reissued for the very first time since their original release. Compiled by JAN HAGENKOTTER, a music-lover and DJ who is also the mind behind the renowned music publishing company and record label INFRACom! after relocating to Saigon in 2012. Features: Carol Kim, Hùng Cường & Mai Lệ Huyền, Duy Quang & Thái Hiền, Thanh Vũ, Connie Kim, Hòa Tấu, Phượng Mai, Khánh Ly, Kim Loan,Thanh Thuý & Văn Thanh & Hoàng Liêm & Thanh Mai, Kiều Oanh, Thanh Lan, Châu Hà & Thanh Mai, Mai Lệ Huyền, Vân Sơn & Thùy Dung, Hoàng Oanh,Phương Dung, and Ngọc Giàu.) 31.00

CULT OF OCCULT / GRIM VAN DOOM - split TAPE ("The split album by the sludge bands Cult Of Occult and Grim Van Doom starkly contrast the two very different approaches that the two bands bring to the same genre. But, if anything, that contrast grabs the listener. Cult Of Occult’s half of the album is one, twenty-two minute long track titled “Black Sea”. It rumbles like a distant demon patiently clawing its way out from hell, one massive handful of earth at a time. Plump, earthy bass tones, ominous, cymbal-heavy drumming, hellishly guttural vocals and filthy guitar distortion are set to a tempo that makes Sleep look like a grindcore band. All of these elements remain constant throughout the twenty-two minutes of “Black Sea”, giving the song an endless, trance-inducing feel.) 6.00

OBED MARSH - Innsmouth TAPE ("Obed Marsh's debut album 'Innsmouth' is a raw and unadulterated foray into the nightmare realm of early-twentieth-century horror, and the the blackest sludge-drowned depths of funerary doom metal. Crossing the threshold between the horrors of the sea and the corruption of man, 'Innsmouth' paints a dark picture of mental illness, conspiracy, murder, civil unrest, and the morbid progeny of Lovecraft's infamous "Deep Ones" to the tune of dissonant, harrowing chords, slithering guitar leads, and an unforgiving, organic percussive force below.“) 6.00

RAKTA - Rakta At KEXP TAPE (During the epic U.S. leg of the tour they did in 2016 promoting the 'III' album they stopped in at Seattle's KEXP to record a live radio set. It came out phenomenally so, with the cooperation with the station executives, we put it on a cassette for you to enjoy. Pro printed and masterized to perfection. Limited to 200 copies) 8.00

VERWOED - Bodemloos TAPE (Formally known as Woudloper, VERWOED emerged in 2014, with a mammoth self-titled demo tape released through Breathe Plastic Records the following year. While sharing similarities in sound and dynamics, VERWOED greatly surpasses Woudloper with this latest release by delving deeper into paranoid, almost hallucinogenic textures, entwined with dense, melodic ambiance that will leave you with one huge mind-fuck of a listening experience that is as terrifying as it is satisfying.) 6.00

WILDERNESSKING - Levitate TAPE (breath plastic - This 2 track tape record sees Wildernessking expanding on their sound. Never afraid of exploring new territory, the band gives listeners a 5-minute-a-side look into their varied palette.( 6.00

MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL - #409 | June 2017 MAG (As extreme as your coming summer weather, MRR starts the blistering with features on BAND OF ACCUSE, NACHTEXEN, KALEIDOSCOPE, FUCK YOU PAY ME, GAZM, and PROTEX, plus Thrillhouse Records' 10th Anniversary and the Break Free, Damaged City and Everything Is Not OK III Fests. All that sizzling action along with the usual collection of columns, news items, action-packed photos and reviews.) 5.00

Joan Jett appears courtesy of Blackheart Records.) 6.00

PUFF PIECES - Born 2 Die 7“ (lovitt - Two songs by Washington, D.C. trio, Puff Pieces (member of Antelope and Vertebrates). The A-side was recorded with Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios and a remix of the same track by guitarist/singer, Mike Andre.) 6.00

ANCST - Furnace LP (vendetta - After "Moloch", their first album hit the scene last year, ANCST has toured relentlessly. Besides putting out a few more of their dark ambient releases, the Berlin based blackened crust collective has gone quieter at the end of 2016 to write new material for a row of releases to be put out in 2017. the first in line will be this EP entitled "Furnace" which see's the band heading out into much more melodic territories while still featuring the aggression of former releases. "Furnace" delivers 5 new songs of bastard sound black metal / hardcore crossover that takes no prisoners." (yehonala tapes) ) 13.00

BYRON MORRIS & GERALD WISE - Unity LP (ermite - Unity, by byron & gerald, is a long lost & highly sought-after private press free jazz album recorded in 1969 at howard university. encouraged by his friend joe mcphee (who contributed an 'invocation' to the back cover), byron morris made unity the very first release on his own EPI label (EPI-01, 1972). it is the only hardcore free jazz record out of 1960s DC, & a viscerally powerful musical & cultural dispatch on the aesthetic & sociopolitical upheavals of its time. eremite's edition exactly reproduces the original EPI release & adds new liner notes by byron morris. it is pressed on premium quality audiophile vinyl by RTI, presented in a heavyweight stoughton 'laser disc' sleeve with a hand-pulled screenprinted insert by alan sherry/siwa in an edition 550 copies. PROJECT PRODUCED WITH THE ARTIST'S FULL PERMISSION & COOPERATION. with mad love & appreciation, eremite dedicates this reissue to the musicians & aficionados of the 1960s & '70s american free jazz underground epitomized by byron & gerald, aboriginal music society, drumdance to the motherland, solidarity unit inc., black unity trio, mcphee's nation time, & so many more... you know who you are!) 33.00

CLOUD RAT / DISROTTED - split LP (dry cough - Dry Cough records has teamed up with the mighty Halo Of Flies to bring you this immense split LP from two of the finest heavy bands around, Michigan's genre-bending grind-punks Cloud Rat, and Chicago's hellish doom-mongers, Disrotted. CR are usually known for their short frenetic blasts of noise-infused grindcore, but here they've taken a break from their usual formula and recorded one 18 minute track of schizophrenic grind/doom that effortlessly eclipses most peddlers of such lengthy numbers, offering more ideas and riffs in the one song than many bands manage over a whole album. On the other side, the only thing that Disrotted's track has in common with their LP mates is it's length, albeit clocking in at 4 minutes longer. Their unique style of hideous, glacial-slow, relentless droning sludge is as punishing and brutal as anything out there, and serves as the perfect foil to Cloud Rat's frantic riffing. This LP is something of a landmark release for both labels, being Dry Cough's 30th and HoF's 100th, so we pushed the boat out and opted for an extravagant triple gatefold sleeve, adorned by the striking artwork of Ryan Brady ( 14.00

DEBILS - s/t LP (static age - Reissue of Debils' only album which came out in 1981. Finest Swiss Punk with male / female vocals. Catchy as hell. Comes in a fancy tip on gatefold cover!) 19.00

INSTED Proud Youth: 1986-1991 DLP (iondecision - In their five-year existence, Insted toured the States several times and developed a huge local following at home in Orange County, CA. They were one of the most prominent straight-edge bands of the late-'80s scene, playing old-school hardcore with an ultra-positive message. This retrospective is packed to capacity with every song the band ever recorded, 45 tracks in all. Now available again on colored vinyl with a gatefold cover and one additional track. Vinyl version includes digital download of the entire album as well as a 30-minute video documentary about the band and a 30-minute video of their entire set filmed at the Showcase Theater from one of their reunion shows in 2004.) 26.00

JEFF PARKER - Slight Freedom LP (ermite - slight freedom, jeff parker’s first ever solo record, presents the first opportunity to hear the guitarist in fully self-revealed circumstances. recorded 2013 & ’14 in the hollywood hills as he relocated from chicago to los angeles, parker combines the dark tonal palette & percussive attack he’s long been known for with real-time processing elements & field recordings, deftly crafting a unique world of solo guitar music --multilingual, mysterious, alive with extraordinary sonic events, with a sturdy intelligence in charge & a raw homestyle vibe. the record is yet another defining moment for parker in 2016, a year that already includes a brilliant ensemble album (the new breed) & tortoise’s 25th anniversary tour & record (the catastrophist). parker’s title composition sets the album’s cavernous mood. terse lines & ricocheting loops morph into a gnarly ambient section that resembles neil young droning out over a vg+ copy of discreet music. parker creates a different sort of ambient space in his take on frank ocean’s 'super rich kids,' bending the melody around a bossa nova rhythm into a moodsville tone poem. parker makes an extraordinary long-form statement out of chad taylor’s ‘mainz,’ a piece he first recorded with taylor & chris lopes on the album bright light in winter. twice the length of the trio recording, the multi-layered soliloquy finds parker leaping from the high rung to damn near orchestral heights, pushing his techniques & concepts to their breaking points. it’s one of the great solo performances you’ll hear from a musician this year. to say “lush life” comes with formidable baggage is an understatement. parker achieves instant classic status with a rendition that sounds beamed-in from a decommissioned satellite --burned out, covered in space grit, yet still formally nuanced & beautifully reflective of strayhorn’s world-weary lyrics. 33.00

LIFE'S BLOOD - Hardcore A.d. 1988 LP (prank - LIFE'S BLOOD were a legendary short lived band from New York City.

MARIE DAVIDSON - Perte d'identité LP (Perte d'identité, which translates to “loss of identity,” is the debut LP by composer, singer and poet Marie Davidson, one of the finest artists rising from the electronic dark-synth scene in Montreal. Her voice is a stark half-spoken monotone which will tell you stories from which you can’t escape unchanged. With this release, she refines her storytelling with suffocating tales that are both intimate and melancholic. Meanwhile, her miraculously human electronic rhythms are as frantic and hypnotic as an intense stare. In her premier full length album, she invites you to take a look in the peephole, revealing a fascinating cinematic picture. What you will be shown are the parts of yourself which you're scared and ashamed of, but also the ones that reveal a haunting and glamorous sensuality. Not only will she spin you a tale, but her music will immerse your soul in images of sweet anxiety. "This album is about romance and a quest for meaning." ) 25.00

SOLBRUD - vemod LP (vendetta - "Vemod is the third album of this Copenhagen crew, and it’s quite a convincing piece of raw black metal. The sound is straight up melancholic and atmospheric black metal with strong hints of the Norwegian 90’s, but with a progressive/experimental touch. Nothing that would ever cause anyone to tag on that terrible “post” prefix when defining their genre, but just enough to give it a slightly modern touch. If Ulver’s acoustic masterpiece Kveldsanger had not been an acoustic masterpiece, but rather a black metal album, then parts of it would certainly have sounded like Solbrud. There are also some wilder passages similar to the more climactic, finishing parts of several songs off of Satyricon’s Nemesis Divina. In general, we’re talking mid-to-fast-paced black metal with melodic lead guitars over ever grinding chords. There are quite a few tidbits to broaden, or perhaps narrow, the appeal too. In the third track “Menneskeværk”, there are numerous outright experimental parts, including substantial ambient intro and outro. The last song “Besat Af Mørke” begins with a strange drum intro that gives the impression that some kind of Oi punk song is about to start, whereupon a monotonous guitar holds one chord for a brief while, before the whole thing relaxes into the more melodic, flowing black metal which after all forms the core of the album. Vemod is music for forest drinking, people hating and corpse painting. Music which shows that black metal remains alive and well, even in Denmark." - archaictriad) 14.00

SOLIDARITY UNIT, INC. - Red, Black & Green LP (ermite - originally produced and issued by charles 'bobo' shaw himself, red, black & green, by "solidarity unit, inc." documents what happened inside "the bag room" in st. louis, mo, the day jimi hendrix died.  shaw captured his ten piece ensemble's raw teeming caterwaul in a low-res recording as gloriously blunt as his b&w cover art.  lake & bowie were by this time already powerful soloists, & both declaim fervently and damn near relentlessly over shaw's swaggering themes. dead at age 34 and recorded just four times, guitarist richard martin's performance is a true revelation; as martin leaps from blues idioms to screaming attacks to pure howling feedback, one wonders if even sonny sharrock reached these places with the instrument.  furious kit & hand drumming, violently rattling little instruments, jabbing percussive rhodes, thundering bass guitar, these guys don't hold back! easy to say "lost underground free jazz classic," but that's the real story here.) 33.00

SUFJAN STEVENS, NICO MUHLY, BRYCE DESSNER, JAMES MCALISTER - Planetarium DLP (4AD - Planetarium is an album co-composed by four musicians: Bryce Dessner, James McAlister, Nico Muhly, and Sufjan Stevens.  Flanked by a string quartet and a consort of seven trombones, this unique collaborative ensemble has assembled an expansive song cycle that explores the Sun, the Moon, the planets and other celestial bodies of our solar system (and beyond) through soundscape, song, science and myth. The subject of the album is not just the wilderness of outer space, but the interior space of human consciousness and how it engages with divinity, depravity, society and self—what does it mean to be human?  This existential question rings clear from the opening lyric: “What’s right and what’s wrong?”  The 75 minutes of music that follow provide a complex thesis: to be human is to be a total mess.  The result of this creative alliance is a musical and aesthetic journey as far-reaching as its subject: from lush piano ballads to prog-rock political anthems, curious electronic back-beats to classical cadenzas, the vast musical styles seek to explore the diversity and mystery of our cosmos. Planetarium is a concept album that occasionally gives way to ambient interludes and majestic brass chorales, buttressed by a percussive drive that keeps the momentum skyward.  In spite of all the experimentation in sound and style, Sufjan’s vocals provide a clear and coherent center of gravity.  The album includes some of his most diverse vocal performances to date (from soft hush to guttural scream), and whether he’s singing through effects pedals, vocoders, auto-tune or not, his voice delivers an ambitious flight map through the cosmos.) 30.00

SWANS - The Great Annihilator DLP (mute - SWANS have announced a remastered reissue of their ninth studio album, The Great Annihilator, out on 5th May 2017 on Mute / Young God Records (N America). The Great Annihilator, originally released in 1995 and described at the time as “…a majestic symphony of haunting melodies and shifting moods” [SF Bay Guardian], will be released on double vinyl and as a 3CD set. Both the vinyl (in the form of a download code) and CD will feature Drainland, Michael Gira’s debut solo album recorded at the same time as The Great Annihilator. The album was entirely remastered by Doug Henderson, but only after Bill Rieflin (“honorary Swan“a revelation of great sonic effect”. Talking about the recording, Gira said “I lived in a tent in a mosquito infested studio right next to Cabrini Green in Chicago for what (?) something like 3 months, rarely leaving. Band members and Jarboe and Bill Rieflin etc came and went, and somehow we crafted this thing into what it became.” The Great Annihilator line up features: Michael Gira, Jarboe, Bill Rieflin, Algis.) 29.00

USA NAILS - Shame Spiral LP (bigoit - London based noise-punks USA Nails release their third album, 'Shame Spiral', on June 16th 2017 through French DIY stalwarts Bigout Records and one of London's newest and most exciting underground labels, Hominid Sounds. It's been a busy 18 months for USA Nails as they've toured Europe, recorded and released a 7" for Too Pure Singles Club and have even been played on the actual radio. On a station you can listen to in the car, not just on a computer. But now they are back with their third release and a spattering of UK and EU dates. ) 14.00

LIFE'S BLOOD - Hardcore A.d. 1988 TAPE (prank - LIFE'S BLOOD were a legendary short lived band from New York City. Formed in 1987, The band played 20 shows and recorded two radio shows, a demo at Don Fury, one 7-inch, "Defiance," released on Combined Effort Records and appeared on the seminal New Breed tape comp in 1988. Features new liner notes from guitarist ADAM NATHANSON, extensive band notes compiled by bassist NEIL BURKE and a ton of photos and flyers.) 8.00

SYNDROMES - Demo TAPE (If Sisyphus ditched that enormous rock and just made killer crust records, it’d likely resemble the discography of His Hero Is Gone‘s family tree. Fuck, the records that have come from that lineage alone read like a “how to backpatch” PSA. Syndromes S/T EP is jaw-dropping for a band hardly a year old. With musical blood also donated from the mighty Masakari, the group’s first output finds them in sparring shape, trading blows with the genre’s heavyweights.) 7.00

V/A - Old Is the New New: A Tribute to Karate's In Place of Real Insight TAPE (In 2005 or ’06, I walked out of Aquarius Records in San Francisco with two CDs, an odd couple: Karate’s "In Place of Real Insight" and Nadja’s "Truth Becomes Death." As pivotal and powerful as Nadja has proven to be, it was the immediacy of the decade-old Karate album that captured a spirit I previously hadn’t been convinced of. Let’s just say that Nadja had to wait until well out of downtown to get its turn; truly, "In Place..." hasn’t left rotation since. To this day, Karate’s music still speaks to me of that discovery and destination, post-salad days and pre-Highway 101. As for the decade since: text worn off the disc face, a “New New” tattoo, an ever-growing Karate-related record collection. And so the serpent finds its tail. This year, Katuktu Collective (formerly Land Animal Tapes) has had the pleasure of working with Nadja’s Aidan Baker ("Heteroticims Volume 4"), and now here, with "Old Is the New New," we attempt to pay humble tribute to Karate’s Geoff Farina, Jeff Goddard, Gavin McCarthy, and Eamonn Vitt. The family of international artists that make up this track listing represent a whole generation influenced by Karate, and on April 28th, 2017, we celebrate the 20-year anniversary of "In Place of Real Insight"’s release, with a few other ‘90s Karate covers thrown in for good measure. I hope you have as much fun listening to this tribute as we had assembling it. And, of course, turn it up (so you can hear it downtown). - Aaris Katuktu ) 7.00

Thank you

DISROTTED / MOLOCH - split 7“ (feast of - one new rager by each band. killer with beautiful artwork) 6.00

JESSICA 93 / BRAS MORT - split 7“ (New split 7" between Jessica93 (French solo project between shoegaze, noise and new wave/post-punk/cold wave.) and Bras Mort (post-punk / krautrock feat. Julien of Austrasian Goat fame). Released as a one time only edition of 700 copies for the 2017 Record Store Day.) 6.00

OCCIDENTAL WHITE - Progress Through Research 7“ (onderstroom - These two minimal synth-pop pearls were first released on the compilation “Walkin’ After Midnight” in 1982 and are in the same vein as early 80’s singles by Carol (Breakdown) and Rive Gauche (Friends Are Friends). Both tracks on the 7” are a delightful proof of the lively and creative music scene in Brussels during the early eighties, supported by labels such as Factory Benelux and Les Disques Crépuscule and the famous venue Plan K.) 12.00

ABRAM SHOOK - Love At Low Speed LP (lim. Edition) (Austin-based musician Abram Shook is a remarkable wellspring of ideas when it comes to songwriting. When he sat down to write his third album, he produced two distinct batches of songs, one very personal collection titled Love at Low Speed, and a darker, more detached collection titled Love in the Age of Excess. Due to time and money constraints, he opted to only record the more personal album, which explores themes of love, loss, and connecting with others, all themes he's been careful to avoid on previous albums. As he explains, "I avoided the subject of love in the past because I thought it was a cliched, overwrought topic. What else could I really add to the cannon? Writing the album directly coincided with some pretty big changes in my life, mainly the ending of an 11 year relationship." Love at Low Speed proves that Shook has plenty to offer on these topics, and that he's at his best when he digs deep, mining his years of experience for confessional tales peppered with hard-wrought wisdom.) 22.00

BAGARRE GENERALE - Tohu Bohu LP (After their first full length record released in 2012 by Radar Swarm Records and a split LP with YEAR OF NO LIGHT, here is the BAGARRE GENERALE sophomore album. Since five years and some lineup changes, the music of BAGARRE GENERALE becomes harder and more aggressive with a heavy drums-bass section still guided by ethereal guitars and loud brass instruments which make the band unique. The three long tracks are a real trip to the band universe and sound like a post metal soundtrack composed for a an old peplum movie.) 12.00

COM TRUISE - Iteration DLP (ltd. Edition) ("Repetition is a form of change," reads one of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies. Seth Haley knows the concept well, and his style of technicolour synth-wave takes the mantra as a challenge--how much emotion can one man convey through his machines? Six years ago, Galactic Melt introduced space traveller Com Truise and his journey through far-flung galaxies, before mini-epics Wave 1 and Silicon Tare expanded the story in further cosmic detail. And now Iteration concludes this sprawling saga. True to its name, the album is built on Com Truise hallmarks: neon-streaked melodies, big drums, robotic grooves, bleary nostalgia. But Iteration is also the most elegant and streamlined that Haley's music has ever sounded.) 25.00

DISROTTED / IRN - split LP (feast of - Chicago's DISROTTED and Toronto's IRN come together in a eucharist of black putrefaction, delivering 2 feedback-laden doom missives over a 37 minute period.) 13.00

DREW MCDOWALL - Unnatural Channel LP (dais - After the long overdue release of Drew McDowall’s debut solo album “Collapse” in 2015, the experimental music underground saw McDowall as an arrival of an artist that was always here, hiding in plain sight. He was quietly in the background, pulling the levers on some of the most influential recordings in electronic music and with shifting his focus from the role as band member of such legendary acts as Coil & Psychic TV along with his recent collaborative efforts alongside Tres Warren (of Psychic Ills) in Compound Eye, McDowall came to finally identity as a singular artist and figurehead to a movement that has vitally required his presence. His second full length endeavor for Dais Records is aptly titled “Unnatural Channel,” allowing McDowall to allocate offerings to the ghosts of his past using methods not fully understood. Moving forward from the impact left with his first album, “Unnatural Channel” moves McDowall into more uncharted territory. From the opening mark, Drew’s distinct fingerprint is evident on the track “Tell Me the Name”, his signature ambient ebb and flow to pulsing electronics painted over reverberated percussions that have been pulled apart and spun around the spectrum.) 22.00

FRA LIPPO LIPPI - In Silence LP (Reissue of the gloomy 1981 debut lp from this Norwegian post-punk band. Released in an edition of 500. Fra Lippo Lippi was a gothic post-punk band founded in Nesodden, Norway in 1978. Their sound was heavily influenced by bands such as Joy Division and The Cure. In 1981 the band recorded and released "In Silence", a hard to grasp, dark album with ominous bass lines, death-march percussion, pensive keyboards, and sinister, indecipherable vocals.) 20.00

THE HELIOCENTRICS - A World Of Masks LP (soundway - The Heliocentrics are a group for which genres are meaningless and boundaries invisible. Since first appearing on DJ Shadow’s 2006 album The Outsider the group have gone on to release a string of records that float through jazz, hip-hop, psych, krautrock, and musique concrete whilst collaborating with numerous genre heavyweights from Mulatu Astake to Gaslamp Killer and picking up prestigious fans along the way, such as Madlib and the recently departed David Axelrod. The primarily instrumental group, who operate out of their vintage analogue studio in East London called the Quatermass Sound Lab, bring in a new singer on album number four - a young Slovakian singer called Barbora Patkova. The result is an album that takes the band, already solidified in ever-expanding grooves and rhythms into new previously unexplored dimensions. The group’s deep-set ability to craft music intuitively and impulsively stems from a desire to avoid typical processes or generic structures. Since its conception, the band's music has mainly been created from live improvisation. This musical approach gives the band its own sound and identity -"for anything to happen it must be at that time from the people in the room, and on the spot".) 20.00

JORDABLOD - Upon My Cremation Pyre DLP (his is the debut album of a bold 'n' brilliant newcomer, JORDABLOD's Upon My Creation Pyre. JORDABLOD descends from southern Sweden and took shape in the year of 2015 - thereby, a relatively new name for most. The trio's musical output is a product of assembling the finest fragments of music and noise from all corners of the world, resulting in a grand diversity, but always maintaining the deepest awe for the core elements of black metal and death metal in its thematic and lyrical aspects. ) 19.00

KALLOUSED - Damn You Believer LP (feast of - The UK’s KALLOUSED have a new sonic offering in the works, and today we’re honored to be bringing you their album Damn You Believer in full! This album works its way into your veins with each melancholy riff, and then pummels you from within like a delicious poison. Damn You Believer comforts and soothes you, only to smack you in your unsuspecting face!) 13.00

KHASHM - Asmodeus Rising LP + 7“ (Here comes KHASHM's highly anticipated fourth album, Asmodeus Rising, on vinyl LP format with bonus 7" EP. One of black metal's best-kept secrets, KHASHM belong to the inner circle of Russia's True Ingrian Black Metal Death. As such, the sound they've patiently crafted for nearly a decade bears a tangibly gnarly physicality contrasted by an almost-levitational aspect: truly, an alchemical melding of aggression and atmosphere. ) 20.00

LOREN CONNORS - Evangeline LP (recital - First-time available on vinyl (pressed as a limited CD in 1998), Evangeline finds Connors working in a narrative structure. This album trails the story of Evangeline, the heroine of an epic-poem written in 1847. Loren’s guitar tone follows the weary landscapes and mournful souls of the characters. Thematically Evangeline falls in line with the other romantic Connors LPs Recital as published, Airs and Lullaby, though with a defining arc in direction. Parallel guitar preludes begin this collection, leading to distant ballads in spheres of reverb. Suzanne Langille softly singing on the first track sets this album as a child’s fable. As longing clouded in dreams of loss and devotion. Includes restored audio & new artwork by Loren Connors. Includes an 8.5”x11” insert: a story written by Suzanne Langille based on the epic poem, Evangeline.) 21.00

MOLOCH / ENSORCELOR - split LP (feast of - back in stock - Ensorcelor come with one long track of creeping black doom. Slower and bleak but still keeping that fine melody. This is some of the sickest music we’ve released so far. Moloch on the other side come with their signature Eyehategod powerplay. Incredibly heavy and without any happiness to it. Put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger. We love this band and these dudes. This is a co-release with Graanrepubliek, Feast of the Tentacles and Psychic Assault.) 13.00

MONARCH / BIRUSHANAH - split LP (Ultraslow doom metal from the southwest of France meets a band from Japan combining Doom Metal and Japanese Classical Music. This split is not only gorgeous to behold, it is a thick slab of heaviness ready to decimate your very being.) 12.00

MUTOID MAN - War Moans LP (Mutoid Man is a power trio formed of a few metal veterans (from bands like Cave In and Converge) who decided to fully embrace the excellent absurdity of their chosen genre. So everything is cranked-up, riffed-up and deathed-up for maximum camp thrash power. War Moans, which features a guest appearance from Chelsea Wolfe, is out on Sargent House.) 26.00

NEV COTTEE - Broken Flowers LP (wonderfuö - Caught somewhere between the rain-drenched streets of Manchester and the sun-beaten deserts of America lies Nev Cottee’s third album Broken Flowers. A deeply cinematic, string-soaked album rich in atmosphere and brooding ambience. Its origins however, began in India, with Cottee trying to leave rainy-city heartbreak behind.) 19.00

TERRY RILEY - Persian Surgery Dervishes DLP (aguirre - This classic minimal music album is now available again on vinyl for the first time since the 70s. Californian composer Terry Riley’s In C, first issued on vinyl in 1968, is widely acknowledged as a Minimalist landmark that altered the course of twentieth-century music. His influential album A Rainbow In Curved Air, which appeared the following year, is a vivid fusion of rock and raga, jazz and psychedelia realised through overdubbing on an 8-track machine which had recently been installed at the studios of Columbia Records.  In recent decades Riley has composed a series of critically acclaimed pieces for string quartet. He has also written for full orchestra and explored a variety of instrumental combinations. But during the 1970s, he concentrated on solo keyboard performances, continuing to make music yet writing down almost nothing. Riley selected a mode, chose a few motifs or basic patterns and then, seated on the floor in front of his audience, improvised on electronic keyboard. That instrument became an essential part of his musical identity for a while, although it was chosen in part for practical reasons. The electric organ, superseded at later concerts by a synthesizer, was portable and consistent. This enabled him to avoid unreliable pianos in venues which were less formal and more variable than the standard concert hall circuit. ) 30.00

UNYIELDING LOVE - the sweat of angry LP (feast of - Savage and ruinous blackened noisegrind from Belfast, Northern Ireland. A firestorm of swarming hatred that can not be stopped. Total fucking bedlam.) 13.00

WOMAN IS THE EARTH - Thaw LP (SMGS - Woman is the Earth cover much ground on this new opus of theirs, crawling in and out of light and shadow, and pushing their imagination across vast and ever-changing landscapes made of shimmering shoegaze and post-rock meadows and dreadful abysses of darkened punk and obsidian black metal. While “black metal” is the obvious word to use here, it is somewhat diminutive for a band like this one, who find their pathway and essence in constant change, duality, and ambiguity, always pushing forward to take the listener deeper into the unknown and beyond genres and tags. If you like bands as diverse as Oathbreaker, Wolves In The Throne Room, Fen, Converge, Hexis etc, then your heart will be stolen by this band. ) 15.00

VAIYA - Remnant Light LP (bindrune - Vaiya's third album 'Remnant Light' is an aggressive ritual banishment of the darkest aspects of the ego. A progression upward toward the light and away from that which drags us down. Told through three thirteen minute tracks, 'Remnant Light' seeks to exalt the journey toward bliss and repel the darkness that aims to destroy true being. This album is a more straight forward Black Metal record than the two previous Vaiya releases, which were written specifically for live ritual performance, thus, there is more emphasis put on dense atmosphere and layered instrumentation.) 26.00

V/A - Ethiopian Urban and Tribal Music DLP (indanoo Mistiru means 'What is the Unknown?' and Gold From Wax refers to the layers of meaning in Amharic poetry. Ethiopia has many languages and styles of music. These recordings were made in the Empire of Ethiopia in 1971. The music recorded in Addis Ababa uses masenko fiddles, craar and bagana lyres, washint flutes and kabaro drums. There is folk music played in Addis Ababa tej beit bars with vocals, craar, masenko, washint and kabaro, Ethiopian Christian songs accompanied by the bagana large 'Harp of David' and Mary Armeede's craar accompanied Amharic sung poetry. There are Afar chants and flutes from the Danakil Desert, Anuak thumb piano, Nuer harp, laments and drumming, a Konso dance and a Gidole flute dance from the Sudan and Kenya borderlands.) 24.00

POSSESSION - Exorkizein TAPE (One of the hottest bands in the modern black/death metal underground, Possession’s ascent has been rapid but never exacting, and more than rightly earned. Forming in 2012, their debut demo, His Best Deceit – released jointly by Invictus and Iron Bonehead, in 2013 – exploded with excitement, showing an incendiary charisma rarely heard, not to mention a veteran’s grasp of engaging songwriting. But for however filthy ‘n’ furious His Best Deceit was, less than a year later, the band released the Anneliese EP: a catacombed dirge that proved there were yet more haunting depths to this still-young band. ) 6.00

THE WIRE - #401 | July 2017 MAG (Inside this issue: Nicole Mitchell: Her latest album Mandorla Awakening II: Emerging Worlds may constitute a dire warning against humanicide, but for the flautist, composer, AACM member and Afrofuturist, hope springs eternal. By Daniel Spicer. Kassel Jaeger: As artistic director of the Groupe De Recherches Musicales, François J Bonnet preserves – and continues – the story of the French institution, while carving out his own path as a writer and pseudonymous composer. By Robert Barry. The Primer: Evan Parker: A user’s guide to one of the UK’s most accomplished and daring improvisors, whose catalogue takes in collaborations with Derek Bailey, Steve Lacy, Cecil Taylor and many more. D.C. DISORDER - Naive To A World 7" (young blood - D.C. Disorder is a brand-new band comprised of Youngblood alumni and members of current hardcore bands that you undoubtedly know. However, we will let the music speak for itself. Fresh, urgent and bursting with an incredible kinetic energy, "Naive To A World" is another great addition to the Youngblood catalog. 7" includes digital download.) 7.00

LORA / THE ULTIMATE SCREAMO BAND - split 7“ (Fanfuckingtastic split 7" from Quebec's solo project THE ULTIMATE SCREAMO BAND (sounds kinda like Orchid) and Russia's LORA (little bit of Carol and Systral going on) unite. 3 different covers. Beautifully packaged but devastating as all hell.) 5.00

MISLED YOUTH - Excuse For Existence 7" (US Press) (Return of the Misled Youth! Angrier than ever, embracing the legacy of 00's DCHC, while showing influences from bands like Poison Idea and YOT with their angry, fast riffs and breakdowns that kill. "Deceive/Exploit/Follow the Trend/Whatever it takes, Just a Means to the End" -- That says all. No trend, no fashion, just pissed kids shreddin' fast and loud) 6.00

PETTERSSON / DET ÄR DÄRFÖR VI BYGGER STÄDER - split 7“ (time is a color - ienna meets Stockholm, as Pettersson teams up with Det är därför vi bygger städer to spoil us with one hell of a split record. "In customary style, Pettersson – who were able to leave a remaining impression with their 2016 debut, Rift & Seam – are leading off the split with the three minute, post-rock influenced screamo epos, Sensory Deprivation > Motion Sickness. Slowly Rising, the song is characterized by the ability of Adrian, Dominik and Tobias not to exaggerate, but to make clever use of post-rock riffs, wrapping Dominik’s breathtaking vocals into a well-composed sound garment.) 5.00

STAND OFF - Behind The Wire 7“ (Stand Off returns with this, their final recording. Six tracks of hardcore from the nation's capital brought to you by members of Red Death, Pure Disgust, Line Of Sight and too many more bands to mention. Recorded by Ned Russin (Title Fight) and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Iron Age, War Hungry), this EP is a truly a collaboration by the hardcore for the hardcore. 7" includes digital download and is limited to 650 copies.) 7.00

ANGUS & JULIA STONE - Down The Way DLP (discograph Angus & Julia Stone are an Australian brother-sister folk and indie pop group that formed in 2006 by Angus Stone and Julia Stone. Their parents played as a folk duo before Julia and Angus were born. Angus & Julia Stone have released four studio albums, A Book Like This (2007), Down the Way (2010), Memories of An Old Friend in 2011 and their self-titled album (2014).) 26.00

ANGUS & JULIA STONE - s/t DLP (Angus & Julia Stone are a brother-sister duo from Newport on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. Angus and Julia began to collaborate on their musical endeavours in early 2006. Prior to that, both had performed as solo artists, principally at open mike nights, but with each using the other as a backing partner.) 26.00

BURIAL OATH - beyond the vale of shadowlands LP (vendetta - ltd to 300 - Burial Oath incorporate ingredients from beyond the vale of black metal, and while the dominant melodic currents in the album are dark and often sorrowing, they very effectively change the moods and the intensity of the music so that the album maintains a firm grip from start to finish. ... he instrumental performances on the album are quite accomplished, with a warm bass pulse that’s prominent in the mix and impressive drum work to complete the rhythm section, and a knack for crafting guitar melodies and riffs that are both memorable and headbang-worthy.  So yes, the music is sulfurous and savage, but its ferocity is more than matched by the appeal of its dark melodies and the dynamism of its rhythms and energies. It’s well worth a full immersion in these sonic shadowlands that Burial Oath have created" no clean singing) 14.00

CRIMPSHRINE - Sound Of A New World Being Born LP (numero - efore Green Day, Operation Ivy, and Lookout Records put the East Bay’s burgeoning punk scene on the map, a trio of Berkeley kids were reinventing the genre with music that was melodic but full of feedback, and a singer who sounded like he gargled glass. Crimpshrine's debut EP was Lookout’s fourth release, followed by an album, a second EP, and a slew of split singles and compilation tracks before the band imploded in 1989 after a ridiculous two-and-a-half-month tour in a Ford Pinto hatchback. ) 20.00

CRIMPSHRINE - Duct Tape Soup LP (numero - Before Green Day, Operation Ivy, and Lookout Records put the East Bay’s burgeoning punk scene on the map, a trio of Berkeley kids were reinventing the genre with music that was melodic but full of feedback, and a singer who sounded like he gargled glass. Crimpshrine's debut EP was Lookout’s fourth release, followed by an album, a second EP, and a slew of split singles and compilation tracks before the band imploded in 1989 after a ridiculous two-and-a-half-month tour in a Ford Pinto hatchback. Formed around teenage binary stars Jeff Ott and Aaron Cometbus, Crimpshrine went through a series of lineups in their four-year run, utilizing future Tilt and Go Sailor bassists Pete Rypins and Paul Curran, and briefly including second guitarist Idon Bryant. Not overtly political, their fiery brand of introspective punk touched on homelessness, teenage pregnancy, drug use, friendship, isolation, and a grimy sort of romance. Duct Tape Soup is their Lookout-rejected 1988 debut LP that was parsed out to various compilations and split 7”s before being recompiled for Larry Livermore’s punk institution in 1992. After Lookout’s unfortunate demise at the turn of the century, the album went out of print. In cooperation with the band, we’ve remastered the recordings and freshened up the accompanying booklet to make the perfect legacy edition of this '80s punk classic.) 20.00

COKE BUST - The Early Years LP (carry the way - Compilation 12" of all early Coke Bust material. Includes the demo, the "Lines In The Sand" LP, "Fuck Bar Culture" 7", "Cycle Of Violence" demo, covers, and a compliation track, "Time Theft." DESCENDENTS - Everything Sucks: 20th Anniversary Edition LP + 7“ (To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this special release in Descendents history, Epitaph Records is proud to present the deluxe 20th Anniversary edition of "Everything Sucks." This remastered edition is a vinyl-lover's dream, pressed on 180 gram vinyl and including a 7" with two unreleased bonus tracks. The packaging features deluxe, embossed cover art with the beloved Milo cartoon. This album marked a reunion for the band back in 1996 with the lineup that has remained solid ever since, featuring singer Milo Aukerman, drummer Bill Stevenson, bassist Karl Alvarez and guitarist Stephen Egerton. LP+7" includes download card.) 32.00

DUCT HEARTS - Feathers LP (time is a color - y placing their mid-90’s emo/diy roots into modern postrock soundscapes duct hearts create a mix that is cryptic yet simple, mysterious yet heart-on-your-sleeve, loud yet fragile, beautiful yet raw. ‚feathers‘, the band’s debut album, is versatile. different. in a good way. it’s one of these records that can grow on you, more and more with every listen. if you let it. consisting of 6 songs, clocking in just under 32 minutes, the record deals with thoughts on families, their dependencies, their safety and its influences on how they function, or often not function.) 13.00

EERO KOIVISTOINEN QUARTET - Labyrinth DLP + 7" (Col. Vinyl) (sart - ro Koivistoinen, one of the all-time greats in Finnish jazz and saxophone, arrived in the Finnish jazz scene in the mid-60s. Ever since, he has been one of the most distinguished and trusted jazz musicians in Finland. He is known for his versatility and creativeness, his tastes ranging from pithy jazz solos to large-scale orchestral works. For this heavy duty reissue of Koivistoinen’s 1977 album we went back to the original multitrack tapes and discovered a heap of alternate takes that were left unmixed at the time. Koivistoinen selected the best and most interesting alternate versions of each track and a new, fresh mix was prepared specifically for this release.) 39.00
EVOKEN - embrace the emptiness DLP (180g black double vinyl in gatefold sleeve. Limited to 666 hand-numbered copies! Season of Mist is reissuing US Funeral Doom Metal legend EVOKEN's much sought after debut album ‘Embrace The Emptiness' as a limited edition vinyl. Now that this dark gem is available again, put the record on your turntable, shade your windows, turn off the light, lie down in bed and let yourself get overwhelmed with emotions. Drift away in your mind and just let the feelings of solitude hit you. An utterly dark album that every fan of funeral doom/death metal should own.) 22.00

GHOST BRIGADE - IV - One With The Storm DLP (GHOST BRIGADE return to deliver a perfect lecture in dark melancholy and heart-wrenching pain. ‘IV - One With The Storm’ takes exactly those subtle steps ahead that makes the Finns sound exciting and fresh again. While their previous full-length ‘Until Fear No Longer Defines Us’ (2011) successfully dwelled on the themes and ways made popular by their ‘Isolation Songs’ (2009) masterpiece, the band understood they had to move on or fall into the trap of repetition. Sure, GHOST BRIGADE remain in essence true to the formula already established by their acclaimed debut ‘Guided By Fire’ (2007), which amalgamates Post-Rock, Metalcore, Progressive Rock, Death and Doom Metal into a highly emotional musical experience. Yet the changes in their line-up can be felt such as new keyboard patterns by Joni Vanhanen. Adding to this, singer Manne Ikonen's hard work on his performance reveals itself remarkably in the enhanced clear vocal passages. ‘IV - One With The Storm’ furthermore comes with a state of the art production by the band and Tuomas Kokko at Electric Fox Studios, Finland. GHOST BRIGADE are now ready for the next step. ‘IV - One With The Storm’ will capture your heart and head!) 22.00

HIGHER POWER - Soul Structure LP (flat spot - Bursting with old-school NYHC groove and West Coast crossover, Higher Power's "Soul Structure" LP is about positive expression of aggression and a form of escapology. The album was recorded by Misha Hering at Holy Mountain, with vocals recorded by James Atkinson at Mutiny Studios. The album was mixed by Arthur Rizk at Salomons Gate (Power Trip, Mizery, War Hungry), mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and features artwork by Sam Bailey. LP includes digital download.) 18.00

IONA FORTUNE - Tao Of I LP (optimo - ptimo Music unveil one of 2017’s most striking debut releases with Iona Fortune’s spellbinding Tao Of I; the first in a promised series of eight releases exploring all the symbols of the I Ching - the oldest of the Chinese classical divination texts. Meshing traditional oriental sounds gleaned from guzheng and gamelan with lustrous tones from a Synthi AKS, Glasgow’s Ms. Fortune evokes a darkly sublime, opiated sound in Tao Of I that’s patently redolent of Kenji Kawai’s Ghost In The Shell soundtrack as much as Sleazy Peter Christopherson’s Bangkok exploits or Dopplereffekt’s reverberating synthetic spaces, whilst also broadly falling into Jon Hassell’s 4th World paradigm, which she recently explored quite literally in the Miracle Steps compilation from Optimo and 12th Isle’s Fergus Clarke.) 25.00

KEN MODE - Success LP ('Success' is a funny concept. On its rawest, most pure form, it is entirely relative, and this was the subject KEN mode chose to approach their new album with. Both sonically and lyrically, a shift has been made from the classic spitting of metallic hardcore tinged vitriol to a more raw indie aesthetic. On 'Success' KEN mode pay tribute to where they've come from, saluting both their Canadian Prairie roots and a time when they first started to care about making music. This was a time when the burgeoning grunge scene of the late 80's / early 90s, with bands like NIRVANA, BIG BLACK, COP SHOOT COP, THE COWS, CIRCUS LUPUS, and DRIVE LIKE JEHU were warping their teenage minds. Lyrically, the band's fascination with comedy spirals around classical western concepts of 'success' - from employment, sex, marriage, religion, socio-economic standing, and the perceptions people have of how they, and those around them, fit into the world.) 17.00

LAJE - Přicházíme Ze Tmy LP (From wide spawn of Jihlava city underground comes this musical story of human encounter with nature and providence of mind in the middle of dark forest. We are changing to those ones, whose we are fighting against, on the territory, where everything is allowed. This is forest and our mourning in roots of trees.) 12.00

MASTODON - Emperor Of Sand DLP (warner - „Emperor Of Sand" finds Mastodon returning to a deeply imaginative and complex conceptual storyline that ponders the nature of time. Threading together the myth of a man sentenced to death in a majestically malevolent desert, the band conjures the grains of a musical and lyrical odyssey slipping quickly through a cosmic hourglass. "Emperor Of Sand" was recorded at The Quarry Recording Studio in Kennesaw, just outside Mastodon's hometown of Atlanta, GA, with producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Neil Young, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine), who first worked with Mastodon on their seminal 2009 album "Crack The Skye.“) 37.00

RAYMONDE HOWARD - S.W.E.A.T. LP (specific - S.W.E.A.T. is some sort of "back to basics" challenge for Rymond Howard, as the French singer-songwriter goes straight for the throat again with her guitar / loop pedal / voice pattern, committing her most infectious and tormented songs to date on a beautiful piece of thick black one-sided laser-etched vinyl. For fans of: Blonde Redhead, PJ Harvey, Cate Le Bon) 12.00

ROTTING CHRIST - Rituals DLP (For almost 30 years, ROTTING CHRIST have blazed a trail for the black metal genre to follow. From their primitive early material through to 2012's epic 'Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy', their pioneering spirit has been a flame of inspiration in an increasingly reductive genre. Now the renowned band return with new album 'Rituals', a diverse collection of new songs influenced by rites and myths from all around the globe. 'Rituals' highlights their unique power and magic, and is the darkest and most personal-sounding ROTTING CHRIST album to date. As 'Rituals' illustrates, there is a reason that ROTTING CHRIST are an international heavy metal institution.) 20.00

SOJOURNER - Empires Of Ash DLP (aantgarde - One of the most anticipated debut albums since their 2015's first outings on the web! Their "Heritage of the Natural Realm" track got more than 20 thousands views on youtube and overwhelming feedbacks. New Zealand-based Sojourner are an atmospheric black metal band with folk influences. ) 24.00

WHALEHEART - Younger Years LP (time is a color - Whaleheart is a new band from Sweden that is quite hard to place in a specific genre (for us who have to place things everywhere, every time). At times heavy, straight and screaming. At times rhythmic, catchy and suitable for the pop dance floor. We’ll put our focus on their catchy indie parts – cause they reach quite high. Sounds a bit like the european indie scene did in the nineties, mixed with how a bunch of Canadian bands sound like today… As a matter of fact it surprised us a little that they’re not Canadian natives, they’re just Swede’s that are about 20 years too late on the scene – ’cause they would definitely play a bigger part if they were around 20 years ago.) 13.00

V/A - Naši Hostia: Experimental Studio Bratislava Series 3 LP + CD (This Series of electro acoustic music and Musique Concrète has started in 2015 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Experimental Studio Bratislava, Exs. Series 1 introduced us to Ina Hudba/Other Music from the first generation of Slovak avant-garde composers recorded in the Exs, mostly with self-built electronic equipment behind the Iron Curtain. Series 2 provided a platform for Nova Generacia/New Generation of Slovak composers using Western equipment – now integrated in the “5 years plan” to purchase in the West…- and influenced by Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti, Pietro Grossi among others. Series 3 called Nasi Hostia/Our Guests show casts the recordings at the Exs of foreign visiting composers like György Ligeti, Lothar Voigtländer, Liviu Dandara etc. The backbone to these unusual landmark recordings were the highly esteemed Annual International Seminars on New Music in Smolenice, Slovakia. The first Seminar held in 1968 was opened and attended by Karlheinz Stockhausen – playing his “Hymnen” for the first time abroad – for the Slovak composers an ear opener and a learning process on how “to make” this kind of “music”… In the following years New Music personalities like Ligeti, Mauricio Kagel, Lutoslawski, Gorecki, Sofia Gubajdulina etc. attended the Smolenice Seminars. – Unfortunately the partial opening of the Iron Curtain and the general cultural upsurge of the 1960’s were frozen by tanks in 1968. Neo-stalinistic “normalization” of the early 1970s violently pushed this – and not only this – creative branch beyond the borders of permitted cultural activities. Limited numbered edition of 500 LPs inclusive a CD with all the tracks in full original lengths.) 25.00

V/A - Pop Makossa - The Invasive Dance Beat of Cameroon 1976-1984 DLP (analog africa - Double LP with 20 pages LP size Booklet and 30 x 30 cm poster The Pop Makossa adventure started in 2009, when Analog Africa founder Samy Ben Redjeb first travelled to Cameroon to make an initial assessment of the country’s musical situation. He returned with enough tracks for an explosive compilation highlighting the period when funk and disco sounds began to infiltrate the Makossa style popular throughout Cameroon. So why has it taken almost eight years from that first visit to the final compilation? From the very beginning, there were several mysteries hanging over Pop Makossa.  After many month and hundreds of different running orders, something still didn’t seem to click... until one day they came across a mighty song entitled ‘Pop Makossa Invasion,’ recorded for Radio Buea, a tune so obscure that even in Cameroon it had never been released. Suddenly the whole compilation fell into place. ‘Pop Makossa Invasion’ makes its debut here and joins the pantheon of extraordinary songs that plugged Cameroon’s Makossa style into the modern world.) 27.00

V/A - Seafaring Strangers: Private Yacht DLP (numero - With pop music’s volume knob adjusted for deflation in the early '70s, softness begat smoothness. Crewmen arrived from the worlds of jazz, folk, rock, and soul, all peddling a product that was sincere, leisurely, and lofty. A sound that was buoyant, crisp, defined. Sometimes classified as West Coast—and, later, Yacht Rock—the compass points of our Private Yacht expedition are the blue-eyed harmonies of Hall and Oates, the cocaine-dusted Fender Rhodes of Michael McDonald, and the combover strums of James Taylor. Here, at the glassy apex of rock’s softer side, 20 strong swimmers are gathered together. An album for both relaxation and reflection, where listeners can enjoy the present, a cool breeze, and a taste of the good life.) 31.00

YOU COULD BE A COP - s/t LP (adagio830 - OU COULD BE A COP is a three piece slowcore punkrock band from Norway/UK. This is their debut album feat. 4 beautiful emo songs somewhere between old emo bands like Samuel, Pohgoh, early Rainer Maria. Two boys and a girl playing rock music with guitars, drums and singing on top.) 12.00

THE FLEX - Flexual Healing VI: Live From The Pain Cave TAPE (painkiller - New England meets Olde England. Continuing their string of "Flexual Healing" cassettes, Painkiller is proud to offer volume six, "Live From The Pain Cave." On the last day of their massive summer 2015 US tour (and the morning after a double gig performance in Boston) The Flex rolled into the Pain Cave and ripped through their current live repertoire (10 songs!) with the kind of precision that can only come from over a month on the road together, playing every night. New and old songs get the Pain Cave treatment on this one. No redos or overdubs, just straight Flexin’.) 7.00

Cassette includes digital download and is limited to 175 copies.) 7.00

SIEGE - drop dead TAPE (Restored definitive sound with all the original sessions' outtakes. This edition features all four bonus tracks unearthed when the tapes were sent off for restoration, making this the most complete and definitive version of the release. Siege was an American hardcore punk band from Weymouth, MA, active in the Boston hardcore scene from 1983 to 1985, and reunited briefly in the early 1990s. Siege's unprecedented level of extreme hardcore punk was some of the fastest and heaviest of its time, incorporating lightning-fast tempos, chord changes, vocal delivery and blast beats into its style, thus setting the stage for the emerging grindcore scene. And though rather short-lived and little-known during their existence, subsequent musicians have cited the group as a profound influence, including the famous British grindcore band Napalm Death and the American hardcore band Dropdead, whose name was derived from the title of Siege's demo of the same name. An awesome document of Siege's Radiobeat recordings, complemented by the stark, black and white original demo images and lyrics. Now available on cassette.) 8.00

CHAIN OF FLOWERS - Let Your Light In / Flesh, Blood and Bone 7“ (alter - Cardiff's Chain of Flowers return to Alter with their first new material since 2015's self-titled debut album. A double A sided single, 'Let Your Light In' and 'Flesh, Blood and Bone' are two tracks which see the band moving beyond the dense shoegaze sonics of their debut, bringing forward a more spacious and streamlined sound that emphasises the powerful urgency of their live performances.) 9.00

(DOLCH) - An Den Mond 7“ (van - Newest output by mysterious Doom / Black Metal band (Dolch) from Germany. Two new songs, Track A based on a poem by J. W. v. Goethe and track B is a Dead Moon cover version.) 7.00

MOLLY NILSSON - Single 7“ (night school - Preceding her epic new record Imaginations, due May 29th, Single features two exclusive new songs not available on any other release. Molly Nilsson is in a mood: the mood for love, perhaps? For an artist who has spent almost 10 years skirting the issue of love, almost addressing it, taking it out to dinner only to stand it up, “Single” almost lands a sucker love-punch to the listener’s heart. About Somebody seems to be about somebody, or maybe even somebody’s body, about desire too, perhaps. How else to interpret the line “Babe I want to party with you every night, and have a hard-on for the rest of my life?” But this is a Molly Nilsson song, and this is Empowering Content. Over a rousing, even anthemic, verse/chorus one-two, a soaring synth-string hook that rides the handclaps beautifully, we‘re soon left wondering whether our beloved narrator is really focusing on the “other” at all. Love lets you down: treat it mean, keep it keen, and remember if you can’t love yourself how the hell are you gonna love any body else?  On the flip, Quit (In Time), is a classic minor-key Nilsson elegy to obsession and addiction, sounding almost close to an early 80s Springsteen love-story.) 10.00

I I - Omnivorous Void LP (II (which stands for Infernal Invocation) releases its debut-EP. This one sided 12-inch brings you some serious devastading death/black metal. The band hails from Leipzig, Germany.) 14.00

COMBO LOS YOGAS - Canabrava LP (vampsoul - Combo Los Yogas was a short-lived early Colombian salsa band from Medellín directed and arranged by Aníbal José Ángel Echeverri, the famous antioqueño keyboardist known as Aníbal Ángel or simply Anán. Anán studied arranging and composition at the famed Manhattan School of Music in New York, had many of his own songs become hits over the years, founded the raspa gallega band Los Teen-Agers ("raspa" or "gallega" denotes combos that played tropical Afro-Colombian coastal music but were from the whiter interior) in 1958, and recorded with Discos Fuentes starting in 1965, so he was already an established musician on the scene by the time he founded this oddly named combo. With the influence of New York's burgeoning young Latin scene being absorbed by certain sectors of the youth in South America at the end of the 1960s, Aníbal Ángel must have felt the urge to join the fray, so in 1968 he founded Los Yogas to explore this new phenomenon from the north. Employing Barranquilla native Johnny Moré as his lead vocalist (Moré, who claimed to be related to Cuba's Beny Moré, also worked with the Conjunto/Sexteto Miramar and Rafael Benítez as well as pianist Joe Madrid) and a full combo with trumpet, trombone, congas and timbales, Los Yogas recorded a fantastic collection of cover tunes in the guaguancó, son, guajira, descarga and cha-cha-chá rhythms) 18.00

DERBE LEBOWSKI - DERBE LEBOWSKI LP (spastic fantastic - Once again time to tear down some walls! Three years after the first attack, here comes powerhouse #2: Nine gun hits from DERBE LEBOWSKI out of Berlin City! In almost 15 minutes somewhere between Hardcore, Powerviolence and Fastcore an ugly three headed punkbastard is born in Moloch. In the circle of the family out of aunts and uncles of HENRY FONDA, HATEHUG and FEMME KRAWALL, it should be clear that the celebration of the day of liberation is more important than a dusky birthday party. Stop And Go Hardcore for people with low attention threshold and pulsating throat line. Hölli ( is once again responsible for the outstanding artwork on thick Inside-Out cardboard. If you are lucky enough to be among the first buyers and have € 2 more in your pocket, you can also look at Paul Ayuhara's screen print craft ( on the B side and get closer to the summit of total bliss. Compulsory purchase. Should be clear!...

GNOD - live at roadburn LP + CD (roadburn - Limited Pressing of just 300 copies worldwide! CD Only Bonus Tracks: "Man On The Wire" & "Entrance" Special release to celebrate GNOD as artist in residence on Roadburn Festival 2017. "Fuelled by maverick spirit and fearsome willpower, GNOD have released dozens of full-length albums, CD-Rs, cassettes and short run releases, each seemingly materialising from the ether, as the band, revolving around key members Chris Haslam and Paddy Shine, is shrouded in mystery. Always thought-provoking and political oppressive, with a mercurial power and fiery intensity that could come from no-one else, GNOD will play four shows during their residency at Roadburn, and following in the footsteps of Circle, Justin K Broadrick and The Heads among others. Gnod Bless." Recorded at the prestigious Roadburn Festival 2012 at Patronaat, Tilburg. Mixed and mastered by Marcel van de Vondervoort at Torture Gardenn Studio, Oss.) 21.00

JAMES ELKINGTON - Wintres Woma LP (Drawing from British folk, avant-rock, and jazz traditions alike, Wintres Woma—Old English for “the sound of winter”—is James Elkington’s debut solo record, but you’ve likely heard his masterful guitar playing and arranging, even if you didn’t realize it. Elkington (an Englishman living in Chicago) is an inveterate collaborator who brings his lyrical compositional and improvisational sensibilities to any group. He has toured as a band member, recorded, and/or collaborated with Jeff Tweedy, Richard Thompson, Steve Gunn, Michael Chapman, Joan Shelley, Nathan Salsburg and Brokeback, to name just a few of his many enthusiastic admirers. His assured album, recorded at Wilco’s Loft, is baroquely detailed and beautifully constructed, featuring both his baritone vocals and some of Chicago’s finest, including Tomeka Reid.) 24.00

JASMINE GUFFOND - Traced LP (sonic pieces - Following 2015’s remarkable Yellow Bell, Jasmine Guffond finally unveils her sophomore album for Sonic Pieces: Traced develops a broad sound spectrum that goes far beyond her previous efforts. Influenced by digital surveillance technologies, Guffond examines data generated from facial recognition systems and global monitoring networks and translates their algorithms into auditory shapes. She draws sonic portraits that manage to capture what normally eludes human perception turning peripheral data into deeply engaging compositions. These pieces unfold through shifting drone patterns interspersed with refined cut-up vocal snippets. Commanding bass pulses are counterposed against assemblies of beats and subtly measured guitar. Emotionally suspenseful, the album alternately rises to intense highs that descend into soundscapes almost trancelike in affect. Collectively, the tracks on Traced attest to Guffond’s profoundly sensitive approach to communicating contemporary ideas re-imagined as intricately inventive tonal possibilities. ) 27.00

KATE TEMPEST - everybody down LP (big dad - The story rhyme. Rather than the bragging and boasting of many raps, in a story rhyme the MC presents a narrative – a street update of Ovid or Homer if you want to get hifalutin about it. Traced back by some to “The Message” by Melle Mel, few would dispute that it reached some sort of a peak with Slick Rick’s first album, and was carried forward by the likes of Biggie and Eminem. It also had a profound influence on rap in the UK, with artists like Roots Manuvausing the form to represent themselves and their city in a myriad of new ways.) 18.00

KENNY KENNY OH OH - I Will Not Negotiate LP (contrastz - After two 7"s and million of shows, here's the first album of this band from Leipzig, Germany. Something between '77 punk and Riot Grrrl. Catchy as hell!) 11.00

LAUREL HALO - dust LP (hyperdub - Whilst fully formed in their own rights, those records now appear to be a playground or warm-up for the stunningly loose yet instinctively coherent geometries and ideas that crystallise, slosh and flit all over this one, and which should surely place Halo among the most enigmatic artists in her astral field. While swarmed with a daring roll call of collaborators such as Klein, Eli Keszler, Julia Holter, $hit & $hine and Max D, Laurel’s myriad ideas both anchor and form a glowing lattice which beautifully perfuses the whole record, tying together her roots in Detroit techno’s makeup - sci-fi, jazz, electro, japanese electronics, dub and nEuropean concrète - and seamlessly incorporating up-to-the-minute gestures from pop, R&B and 4.1 world dimensions in the most elusive yet insoluble style of her own.  18.00

LOVE THEME - Love Theme LP (alter - If there's a single guiding motif to this debut recording from Love Theme, it's the melancholic throb of love learnt and love lost, a descent that tumbles and slips through the overall feeling of looking back. As intimately and carefully as its parts cohesively lament a narrative, it's the after-image that catches your breath, like a memory morphing as it is observed.  Comprised of Alex Zhang Hungtai of the now defunct project Dirty Beaches, along with Austin Milne, and Simon Frank, 'Love Theme' is arranged from an improvised session with twin saxophones, synthesizer, percussion, drum machine, and voice. Over the course of a year the material was edited remotely from the members' home cities of London, LA and Taipei.  The record's sullen ambience is never left too long to set in. The aching wane of the saxophone arrangements frisk the propulsive aggro of the mixed percussion, forcing a melancholic halo upon the queasy stupor of the synthetic swing that closes each side of the record. It's a bizarre lust for life that's being divined from equal parts dislocation and invigoration, a potent remedy which perhaps Love Theme can call their own. ) 19.00

MAGGIE PAYNE - Crystal LP (aguierre - Maggi Payne is an American composer, flutist video artist and co-director of the Center for Contemporary Music, Mills College where she teaches recording engineering, composition, and electronic music. Her work involves electroacoustic, instrumental, and vocal works along with works involving visuals, including dancers outfitted with electroluminescent wire and videos she creates using images ranging from nature to the abstract. She has composed music for dance, theatre, and video. Crystal was first released in 1986 on the Lovely Music label. Home to experimental musicians such as Robert Ashley, David Behrman, Pauline Oliveros and Alvin Lucier. On Crystal flute, spoken voice, sonifications and synthesizers are processed to create dense and massive structures. Maggi Payne's musical imagination is vivid: she is interested in the surreal, the inward, the micro, and the accumulation of physical and psychological tension. Periods of silence gently evolve into flowing drones of complex resonances. Oozing drones evolve into dense and powerful peaks of short duration. The compositions and sounds on Crystal have incredible depth, a profound logic and, though not "pretty", an irresistible beauty.) 23.00

METAVARI - Metropolis (An Original Re-Score by Metavari) DLP (Metavari is the stage name of Indiana-based electronic musician Nathaniel David Utesch and is best described as the intersection of nostalgic electronics, ambient soundscapes and off-kilter synth pop music. Since 2008, Metavari have toured extensively in the US; sharing the stage with notable acts such as This Will Destroy You, Maserati, Tortoise, Titus Andronicus, Anamanaguchi, The Appleseed Cast & Small Black.) 44.00

PENELOPE TRAPPES - Penelope One LP (optimo - Penelope Trappes, a member of freak disco unit The Golden Filter, makes a spellbinding solo debut on Optimo Music with Penelope One; her chamber-like suite of deep blue songcraft about “being a mother in a dystopian world, with pensive words about swimming against the current as a female artist”.) 20.00

POPOL VUH - Spirit Of Peace DLP (light in the attic - Born as Florian Fricke’s brainchild, Popol Vuh needs little introduction, the band stayed active between the late 1960s & late 1990s (until Florian’s passing in 2001).  Regarded as pioneers in avant-garde German electronic music, their early works practically laid down the foundations for ‘Kosmische Muzik’ (Space Music) with the then new sounds of the Moog synthesizer joined with ethnic percussions. Later the group evolved to include all kinds of instruments (both electric and acoustic alike) shrouding their music in a spiritual & introspective mystical aura. Popol Vuh influenced many other European bands with their uniquely soft but elaborate instrumentation, which took inspiration from the music of Tibet, Africa and pre-Columbian America. With music sometimes described as "ethereal", they created soundscapes through psychedelic walls of sound, and are regarded as precursors of contemporary ‘world music’, as well as of ‘new age’ and ‚ambient’. Popol Vuh regularly contributed soundtracks to the films of Werner Herzog that include classics like ‘Aguirre’, ‘Nosferatu’, ‘Heart Of Glass’ & ‘Cobra Verde’. Originally released in 1985, ‘Spirit of Peace’ is the fifteenth album by Popol Vuh. The first track was used by Werner Herzog as original motion picture soundtrack for his documentary ‘The Dark Glow if the Mountains’. ‘Spirit of Peace’ is about making the journey into the destination and it truly achieves the meaning of the album title. ‘Yehung’ chants and beautiful intertwined mellow, yet complex guitars grooves make this album an ambient (or even a new age) masterpiece. Out of print since 1985 and never released outside of Europe, now back available as a gorgeously packaged expanded Double Vinyl edition. This release also comes with extra tracks that were not featured on the original pressing and it features the original cover-art by Erik Wollo.) 38.00

POPOL VUH - Agape Agape Love Love LP (orn as Florian Fricke’s brainchild, Popol Vuh needs little introduction, the band stayed active between the late 1960s & late 1990s (until Florian’s passing in 2001). Regarded as pioneers in avant-garde German electronic music, their early works practically laid down the foundations for ‘Kosmische Muzik’ (Space Music) with the then new sounds of the Moog synthesizer joined with ethnic percussions.) 35.00

POTENCE - L'Amour En Temps De La Peste LP ("L'Amour En Temps De La Peste" is the title of POTENCE's remarkable and stunning debut LP. This new band featuring members of GERANIÜM and DAITRO capture the attitude of some of the darkest and fierceful niches of hardcore, turning its aesthetics into something very personal, emotional and increasingly unpredictable. The new 8 track effort from the French crust hardcore / screamo act were recorded in April 2016 by Steph at Disvlar Studio and mastered by Will Killingsworth at DEAD AIR STUDIOS and it’s really worth the wait! "L’Amour Au Temps De La Peste" is a work of striking emotions, surprisingly immense compositional capacity and colossal, thick arrangements. ffo: jungbluth, amanda woodward.) 11.00

RIDE - weather diaries DLP (witchita - Produced by legendary DJ, producer and remixer Erol Alkan, ‘Home Is A Feeling’ is a tantalising second taster of their forthcoming album, hinting at the breadth and ambition of the new material. Mark Gardener says: “‘Home Is A Feeling’ to me is like a slow, wide-screen, sonically, layered, slowed motion warm wash. Like returning home as dawn rises totally exhausted and spangled after a long ..long ...big, great night out’”) 29.00

ROBERT AKIKI AUBREY LOWE - two orb reel LP (more than - More Than Human is very proud to present a new full-length work by modular synth experimenter Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. Lowe has made some of the most transcendent music of recent times (‘cerebral music in the best sense of the word’ - Music & Literature) with acclaimed releases on DDS, Type and RVNG. ‘Two Orb Reel’ revolves around the concept of a soundtrack for African science-fiction; each of the song titles come from science fiction works set in Africa. The music takes the form of library tracks and soundtrack cues. The music conjures weird landscapes. Oscillating pulses suggest alien communication. Themes of eeriness and entropy come to the listener filtered through evocative modular throbs, deep bass textures and off-kilter meters.) 18.00

ROSE McDOWALL - Our Twisted Love 12“ (night school - The Our Twisted Love E.P. constitutes the most contemporary recordings by Rose McDowall available, heralding her return to live performance and songwriting. Building on the groundwork laid by McDowall with her group Sorrow, and various collaborations with key figures in the post industrial landscape, it features a full band recording and long-form songwriting that draws heavily on both McDowall’s keen sense of pop melody and melancholy. Breaking into a harmonium drone and Rose’s instantly recognisable, vocal, the epic title song unfurls at a glowing, glacial pace. Never hiding her love for the Velvet Underground, Our Twisted Love reminds the listener of 70s-era Nico, but McDowall’s fragile vocal has a spine-tingling fragility of its own.) 16.00

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST - Exuvia DLP (van - Exuvia" is the name of the newest output by The Ruins Of Beverast. It will take you quite a while, to explore the whole album in detail. With every listening you will find something new and this is it, what makes the album to the strongest release of the band up to now.) 25.00

SON PALENQUE - Afrocolombian Sound Modernizers DLP (vampisoul - In the history of Afro-Colombian culture, Son Palenque is without a doubt an exceptional band, and its history has a place at the very heart of ancestral palenquera music as well as at the musical intersection between Africa and Colombia, which took place on Colombia’s Caribbean coast in the 70s and 80s and which continues today through champeta, a musical genre and dance that also bears a strong African influence. The members of Son Palenque band grew up in rural communities fixed in time, with deep musical roots, duels between tambora players and a legendary musical profusion of traditional musicians that built the foundations of today’s Afro-Colombian music. Later they all migrated to the city and bit by bit made a place for themselves. The story of this record starts on a night just like any other, at a picó, a musical block party, of the Pablo VI neighborhood, in the city of Cartagena. It was the peak of Afro-Coastal psychedelic music, of African music and of an endless number of musical fusions. Excited by the gigantic party they had been at until dawn, rocked by the deafening noise of the speakers and the records played at the picó, a few friends went to the beaches of Marbella and improvised a musical rumba; one of them grabbed a beer can, the other one a stick, Justo Valdez sang his beautiful melodies and the magic of palenquera music grew mystically in front of the waters of the endless sea. “That’s where Son Palenque was born,” recalls Justo with excitement and nostalgia. Enrique Tejedor and Luciano Torres as the back-up singers, his brother Tomás Valdez in the tambor alegre (a Colombian drum), Pánfilo Valdez as the second lead vocalist…) 25.00

SLAEGT - Domus Mysterium DLP (VAN - Here comes the new album of Danish hopefuls SLAEGT! Building up on their highly acclaimed EP "Beautiful and Damned" (2015) and an own blend of Black Heavy Metal, this band is definitely armed and ready for the next step with "Domus Mysterium". Delve into sophisticated, yet aggressive compositions garnished with brilliant melodies and musicianship. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Ballade Studios, Copenhagen, between September to November MMXVI, and with artwork and illustrations by Jose Gabriel Alegría Sabogal, the album consists of eight tracks, and is entitled “Domus Mysterium”. ) 22.00

STEPHEN 'O MALLEY - Dread Live LP (bakc in stock - Stephen O’Malley deploys the 2nd in a trio of documents of his improvisational prowess following his crushing Fuck Fundamentalist Pigs, which was brought forward in tribute to the Paris attacks and released in late 2015. The minimalist electric guitar mantra Dread Live was performed at Studio Helmbreker in Haarlem, Netherlands, September 2013, and recorded by Mathijs Ton on a hypercardiod ribbon mic with immaculate 70’s valve amp back line and technical support by the great Tos Nieuwenhuisen. The set was programmed as part of the opening of the Dread - Fear in the age of technological Acceleration exhibition at De Hallen Haarlem, curated by Juha Van’t Zelfde.) 25.00

STEPHEN O'MALLEY - end ground LP (ideal - End Ground forms the 3rd and final installment in a series of records documenting the solo prowess of Sunn 0)))’s Stephen O’Malley released on Sweden’s iDEAL Recordings. It was performed on electric guitar thru Sunn model T amps, and captured on zoom H4 at Centre Cultural Suisse, Bad Bonn Carte Blanche, Paris, France, on 18th October 2013.) 25.00

STEPHEN O'MALLEY Fuck Fundamentalist Pigs DLP (ideal - F*ck Fundamentalist Pigs is Stephen O’Malley’s crushing, personal and intensely emotive retort to the fascists and fundamentalists who undermine his and our sense of personal liberty and freedom, particularly in the wake of attacks suffered by Charlie Hebdo magazine and the residents of Paris during late 2015, and the countless poor souls who’ve suffered in the Middle East, Kenya and North Africa. The material itself is just staggering - appearing a mere couple of weeks after Sunn O)))’s Kannon and once again displaying the intensity of O’Malley's immersive, uncompromising aesthetic, congealing tarriest waves of sub-harmonic drone and bad-handed chord changes into a glaring expression of sustained, paranoid tension and jawing, cathartic blows. ) 32.00

V/A - Cartagena! Curro Fuentes & The Big Band Cumbia and Descarga Sound Of Colombia DLP (Sourced from a period when musicians effortlessly combined the swing of cumbia with the driving bass of salsa, Cartagena! un-wraps a period of musical history seldom heard beyond the tropical coast of South America. V/A - ¡CHICAS! Vol. 2 - Spanish Female Singers 1963-1978 DLP (Crimes should be put to trial quickly. The sooner, the better. But it's not so clear what should be done about songs. Or maybe it is. The history of songs and their reputation is full of incongruities, misunderstandings and, even more clearly, flagrant injustices. Released by an insatiable industry which has never thought about the future and has simply considered them light entertainment, an industry whose only way of assessment was a song's potential to make cash, then and now, with old or new technology, the truth is that many of those songs from years past usually have a life beyond that affidavit period imposed on them as music for a certain season. It's unfair that after a judgement made in a few seconds, after deciding that what's heard doesn't fit what might be expected, those songs are arbitrarily condemned to ostracism. Women and their songs know a lot about that) 25.00

ÚIR - Tein-Éigin TAPE (Raw and atmospheric black metal, with members of HAAR. "In Tein-Eigin we explore the passing of the seasons and how ancient cultures revered both the sun and the moon. The sun acted as both a source of all life and through its absence was a bringer of death. Furthermore, the waxing and waning of the moon punctuated the passing of time. Expressed in ritual form, our forebearers defined and brought symbolism to the seasons through this ancient knowledge. In this aural depiction, we begin with the rise of spring and culminate within the depths of winter. A decent into darkness more apt than the ancient path into the light." ) 6.00
