HEXIS - MMXIV. A. D. XII. KAL. DEC. flexi disc 7" (2 songs of abalam and one off the split with this gift is a curse recorded live in japan on a two sided white flexi disc with a sticker on the sleeve) 5.00

V / A - d i v i d e d b y w a t e r 2 x 7“ (time is color – 423 copies on black. colored vinyl is handnumbered and limited to 109 copies, 40 of these go to the bands, so only 69 colored ones are available for purchase- one new/exclusive song by each band, 2 color screenprinted covers, obi-strip with band names and title, handstamped center labels, b/w inlay with lyrics and liner notes. includes a download code) 10.00

LOREN CONNORS - the departing of a dream vol. V 10" (family vinyard - After ten years, legendary avant guitarist Loren Connors returns to his much acclaimed and beloved The Departing of a Dream series. Initially based loosely as tribute to Miles Davis' masterwork "He Loved Him Madly," Connors delves further into the inspiration to explore melody as a slow-moving spectrum of shades projected against a fragile, often decaying ambiance. Volume Five continues the theme, as Connors coaxes complex blues mutations and wide swathes of distant vibrating tones - not unlike the expressionistic cry of Miles' horn. The flutter of voices and din that seep in between the sustained notes transform into a choir as only Connors can lead. The mini-album is presented as a 10-inch, housed in a purple sleeve with metallic ink and download coupon. Audio mastering by Taylor Deupree at 12k and vinyl mastering by Jason Ward at Chicago Mastering. One-time edition of 500 copies.) 18.00

ABSTRACTER / DARK CIRCLES - split LP (Dark Circles (canada) vs Abstracter (usa). brutals. hc/crust from the north vs blackened death doom from the west. killer!) 12.00

DICK DIVER - calender days LP (One year after releasing Dick Diver’s third album, "Melbourne, Florida” Trouble In Mind is pleased as punch to re-present the revered Melbourne, Australia band’s first two albums 2011’s “New Start Again” & 2013’s critically acclaimed (and The Age-nominated Best Album) “Calendar Days” for eager & discerning listeners. The band sprung to life in 2008 from four talented songwriters & members of Melbourne’s (still) thriving DIY/Punk scene who sought inspiration in the precious, yearning chords & poetic lyrics of Brisbane’s Robert Forster and Grant McLennan of the Go-Betweens rather than the squall & feedback of Aussie punk forefathers The Saints or the ugly, brutish pummelling of feedtime or the Cosmic Psychos. The band’s lyrics speak to a very real & present Australian existence, often referencing everyday slices of life and utilizing native turns of phrase, congealing it all into rich earworms with casual, affable, scrappy charm. It’s almost cliché these days to say an album finds a band at the “top of their game”, but “Calendar Days” does just that. Building on the promise of their debut, presenting a truly communal album with each band member contributing hit after hit, from the punchy first single “Alice” (penned by bassist Al Montfort) to Al McKay & Rupert Edwards’ elegant ditties & pop bangers like “Water Damage” “Calendar Days” & “Lime Green Shirt” (whose palpable sense of ennui & desperation make it a standout track). The real highlight is drummer/guitarist Steph Hughes whose vocal duties on the Edwards-penned title track & duet on “Two Year Lease” add a melodic richness. Not to mention her absolute classic tune “Gap Life” a beguiling & charmingly casual take on “Australian-ness”, cementing “Calendar Days” as an unquestionable modern classic. People started to take notice too, as the band was nominated for The Age’s Music Victoria Awards for Best Album & Best Band. For those who’d just discovered the band via their US debut “Melbourne, Florida”, or for those who missed out initially, Trouble In Mind presents the missing pieces of the puzzle from this truly essential & important band. Re-released in North America on cd & vinyl, housed in (nearly identical) artwork by Hughes, a full color inner sleeve and includes a download code!RIYL: Go-Betweens, The Clean, The Bats, The Triffids, The Feelies, Twerps, Ultimate Painting, Courtney Barnett) 20.00

DOOMSQUAD - total time LP (Having formed in 2010 siblings Trevor, Jaclyn, and Allie Blumas soon began to explore trance and electronic beat making. Their shared fascination with dance culture, rhythm, and the unknown, along with their lifelong immersion in the arts, began to manifest as a collective ethos. Before long, DOOMSQUAD had mushroomed into a full-scale art project.Inspired by some of their favourite artists — Georges Bataille, Richard Tuttle, Tanya Tagaq, and Genesis P-Orridge — DOOMSQUAD travelled to the New Mexican desert to write and record Total Time, creating dark, pulsating beats interspersed with hypnotic, incantatory jams. The album opens with the enticing dance of ‘Who Owns Noon in Sandusky,’ which was written to inspire the nakedness in us all, a song to wake up our inner clocks and reclaim our circadian time. ‘Solar Ass’ was written as a love song to a donkey, a song for paying respect to the smaller, under-appreciated elements that carry us through our contemporary lives. The songs on Total Time are meant to lead you through a genderless experience of transition to owning time, losing time, and becoming timeless, while providing a platform for you to dance through your consciousness. Upon returning home from New Mexico, the band continued to draw inspiration from the Toronto arts community, which is vast but also extremely supportive and close-knit. Their friendships and connections led to some fortuitous collaborations, including one with Canadian avant-garde legend, Mary Margaret O’Hara, whose otherworldly vocals grace ‘The Very Large Array.’ The driving, dirty bass lines, and analogue layers of effects come care of Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck), who produced and mixed the album. The record features a number of other contributors: Mike Haliechuk of Fucked Up plays guitar. Industrial noise experimenter David Foster aka HUREN offers vocals on ‘Russian Gaze.’ Colin Fisher and Brandon Valdivia of free-jazz duo Not the Wind, Not the Flag bring instrumentals. And galactic twins Josh and Jesse Hasko, who perform as North America, are a crucial part of Total Time as well. Over the years, the connection between DOOMSQUAD and the twins has deepened and this summer they’re joining forces: the Haskos are becoming members of DOOMSQUAD’s live act, which will take it further than it’s ever gone before.) 18.00

HUMAN HANDS / BLUE PERIOD - split LP (time is a color - 250 copies black - superb split lp by those great british mid 90s emo / indie pop emo bands. ) 13.00

JOANNA BROUK - hearing music DLP (She was a composer who wrote scores with geometric shapes, a poet who became a pioneer of early electronic music. Joanna Brouk's little-known body of work exists at the nexus between ambient, new age, drone, and classical minimalism—stark in its simplicity, lush in its expanse. Studying under Robert Ashley and Terry Riley at the fabled Mills College Center For Contemporary Music before graduating into the margins of the '70s bay area new music scene, Ms. Brouk blazed her own trail well outside of the musical establishment to create uncompromising electronic and acoustic work of sleek beauty and primal power. Describing herself as less a composer than a channel, she took her cues from the frequencies of the natural world and the talents of collaborators like Maggi Payne and Bill Maraldo. Hearing Music collects for the first time the deepest cuts from her beguiling and rare cassette releases and her archive of previously unreleased recordings.) 25.00

JULIANNA BARWICK - will LP (dead oceans - Julianna Barwick's revelatory third full-length, Will, is a surprising left turn for the Brooklyn experimental artist. Conceived and self-produced over the past year in a variety of locations, the ominous, compelling Will is a departure from 2013's Alex Somers-produced Nepenthe. If that last record conjured images of gentle, thick fog rolling over desolate mountains, then the self-produced Will is a late afternoon thunderstorm, a cathartic collision of sharp and soft textures that sounds looming and restorative all at once. The electric current that runs through Will takes on various shapes of intoxicating instability: the orbiting chain of tones that wafts through "Nebula", the frizzy sine waves lying under the firmament of "Same", the haunting vocal echoes on opener "St. Apolonia" that were recorded late at night at a Lisbon train underpass, and the martial arpeggios that accompany Will's processional closer "See, Know". Another new wrinkle that Will introduces in Barwick's sound: Mas Ysa's Thomas Arsenault, who lends his richly complex vocals to "Same" and "Someway" and weaves perfectly into Barwick's distinctive musical fabric. The album also features contributions from Dutch cellist Maarten Vos and percussion from Jamie Ingalls (Chairlift, Tanlines, Beverly). The beguiling, beautifully complicated Will is the result of that curiosity, as well as the latest proof yet of Barwick's irresistibly engaging talent as a composer and vocalist.) ) 20.00

NOTHING - Guilty of Everything LP (red) (relapse - Repress on red vinyl with red cover! Philadelphia’s Nothing have been destroying the eardrums of audiences throughout North America for the past two years with a magnetic blend of captivatingly dark and beautiful vocals and explosive, blown out, in the red guitar fuzz. On their debut full length Guilty of Everything, recorded and produced by Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, War On Drugs, etc) Nothing seamlessly merge the huge distorted guitar sound of 90s/00s alternative rock giants My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins with Jesu’s introspective post-metal/hardcore. This is a triumph of a debut that successfully manages to be massively loud, darkly introspective and totally beautiful all at once.) 20.00

RED HOUSE PAINTERS - old ramon DLP (sub pop - Old Ramon, the sixth Red House Painters album, recorded in the fall of 1997 through the spring of 1998, was intended for release that summer. But the mega-major label merger catastrophe that left hundreds of bands homeless spared few. Red House Painters looked for a brief moment like survivors, but subsequent delays eventually turned into permanent layoff. Old Ramon sat in limbo and grew into legend as another great, lost album only the privileged few would ever properly hear. They’ve unintentionally put the wait back into the term “long-awaited.” Singer Mark Kozelek kept busy with a series of other projects. He served as producer for Take Me Home: A Tribute to John Denver. As archivist for the 4AD Red House Painters Retrospective album, assembling rarities and live tracks. As solo artist with several tracks on the Shanti Project album, and two albums Rock ‘n’ Roll Singer and What’s Next to the Moon, a collection of AC/DC songs reinterpreted. As live performer, touring the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and his first ever shows in South Korea. As film scorer for the independent film Last Ball. And, finally, as actor in Cameron Crowe’s critically acclaimed Almost Famous._But while playing a musician in a movie—Kozelek appears as the bassist of Stillwater in Almost Famous—was an exciting diversion, it also pointed out the absurdity and irony of the situation. He’d been writing and performing his own music since the 1980s, with Red House Painters since the early 1990s. He was a musician, not just someone who might play one on TV) 25.00

RORCAL - creaon DLP (Three years after the monstruous and blackened “Világvége”, RORCAL is back with a brand new full length entitled “CREON”. Again, this new beast is showing a different face of the band by the mean of 4 hellish tracks for more than 50 minutes of music. Furious, but also melodic, these new songs display a wild range of atmosphere, each one serving the purpose of an epic story. Yes, it’s the death of 4 well known Greek characters, all linked to Creon, that are narrated in this new concept album. Punishing blast beats, heavy riffs, progressive structures expressed through brilliant song writing, possessed vocals ; everything is here reunited to create a new level of insanity in the field of extreme music. This 4th full length, recorded in three days in live conditions by Steph Kroug and mixed in Sweden by Daniel Bergstrand, is a journey nobody could have dreamed of. Let the magic do its job, let yourself drown in this beautiful and savage piece of aggression. ) 25.00

SUN WORSHIP - pale dawn LP (This the new release of the much anticipated follow-up to Elder Giants, the debut album by Berlin / Germany based band Sun Worship. Following up European tours with artists such as Unru, Ultha and N as well as festival appearances at Roadburn, Incubate, O Tannenbaum Waldfest, CTM and H2Ö, Sun Worship entered Golden Retriever Studios in Berlin with Henner Henzler (of Tonmeisterei fame) on January 1st 2016 to record their second full length album. “Pale Dawn” further explores the more extreme fringes of their previous material while retaining the bands trademark harsh melodic ferocity, atmosphere, and momentum, charged by exceptionally frantic yet organic and musical drumming which acts as an equal instrument alongside the dual guitars and vocals. Musically both more accessible and hermetic, more minimalist and complex at the same time than its predecessor, “Pale Dawn” sees Sun Worship confidently exploring new levels of an intense musical expression which increasingly becomes their own. The intentionally unpolished and dynamic recording was mastered at Enormous Door, while the exquisite artwork, design and packaging (the 180 g vinyl edition comes in a heavyweight old school tip-on sleeve with foil print) was once more expertly taken care of by Raoul Mazzero aka View From The Coffin.) 17.00

TRAUTONIST - s/t LP (Trautonist take the energy, roughness and euphoria ofblack metal and combine it with the melancholia ofshoegaze. The songs are naturally flowing, thriving on the combination of Dennis harsh and Katharinas beautifuly fragile vocals. The record has been mastered by non other than Markus Siegenhort of the well-known Lantlôs that gave the record a warm and rich sound but still keeping the necessary harshness. The artwork by Pascal Hauer who has contributed design for bands like Nothing or Lantlôs underlines the feeling of the music perfectly - transfering an urban but surreal feeling that makes you think of a David Lynch movie. Whether one wants to call this blackgaze, post black metal or modern black metal: The self titled record of 'Trautonist' is a compilation of 6 perfectly balanced songs - captivating the listener right from the start with the raging blast parts of the opening track 'Stay' but always gives time to breathe in between like the following 'Distance' does.) 13.00

AHMED MALEK - Musique Original De Films LP (habibi - I still remember the first time I heard Ahmed Malek. It was 2012. Back then I didn’t know much about Arabic music, but I was about to leave Berlin for a couple of weeks to go to Tunisia. I was working as a project manager for a music recoding session which ended up being released by Jakarta Records as the “Sawtuha” release. I knew I would have some time off during my stay and I was certain that I would dedicate some of this time to diggin. I asked some people whether they knew of any titles that I should look for. Roskow, who also ended up re-mastering this release, told me about an Algerian composer called Ahmed Malek whose music was also released in Tunisia. Fast forward three years: Arabic records have become my number one hobby and luckily I got my hands on a copy of Ahmed Malek’s “Musique Originale De Films” album. I already knew some of the tracks but listening to the music the way it was originally released, and not as a crappy Youtube version, made me fall in love with Malek’s compositions all the more. It manages to create this very special mood: melancholic and reflective, emotional and touching, but never depressing. Even without having seen any of the pictures created for this, it immediately brings visuals to one’s imagination. Around that time I became captivated with the idea of reissuing some of Ahmed Malek’s music. I knew some people had tried to locate his family but, but with no success. In the end it was an incredible amount of luck that made it possible for you to read these words and listen to this record. I had a DJ gig in Beirut playing old Arabic records and I mentioned my passion for Ahmed Malek’s music to a friend. She said she knew one person in Algier, and as much as it would be a shot in the dark, she could ask her if she had an idea of how to find Malek’s family. Two weeks went by before I heard back, and what I got was incredibly good news. Her Algerian friend was the neighbor of Ahmed Malek’s daughter! I’m not a spiritual person, but it felt like the universe wanted to see this release happen. ) 18.00

BONNY BILLY - More Revery LP (temprory - In the year 2000 – shortly after releasing what would become his most iconic album, I See A Darkness – Will Oldham aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy retreated to his family’s farmhouse with the majority that I See A Darkness lineup in tow to record a half dozen covers of some of Oldham’s favorite songs. The track listing is, as expected, inspired and eclectic: John Phillips, PJ Harvey, Bill Withers, The Renderers, John Holt, and Tim McGraw. Bonny Billy’s renditions are equally inspired and eclectic, ranging from slow-burning uneasiness to uncharacteristic jubilance. Originally released exclusively on limited edition CD in the pre-MP3 era, More Revery was gone before iTunes existed, and has not been available in any format since. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Temporary Residence Ltd., we are honored to reissue this essential piece of the Bonny Billy canon – now expanded to include rare live versions of the entire album!) 20.00

CONFUSIONAL QUARTET - in the box 3LP BOX (A happening -- maybe one could call it that. Confusional Quartet is one of the most original and unique bands to ever come out of Italy, and one of the few bands able to switch from the prog rock era to dislocated art forms, painting their music with traces of early electronica and a post-punk twist (read: no wave). A bridge linked the band from Bologna (rock) to the musical past and present of the nation, with senses of urgency and creativity on top and a revolutionary aesthetic revealed between the lines. No lyrics -- the music was truly instrumental, incorporating no social issues, but evoked a future no less narrow with their sonic scenario. It's really hard to pinpoint the band; they even re-created a singular version of Domenico Modugno's 1958 Sanremo Music Festival-winning "Volare" in a truly devolved way. Italian music history undergoes shock therapy in the exotic manifesto "Samba Paperino" and in the jazz-rock ostinato of "Pronipoti." Now listeners can finally share the whole experience of this truly unique band with this comprehensive box. The first LP contains their 1980 self-titled LP, the second contains their 1981 self-titled 10" EP, and the third contains their 1981 triple-7" flexi disc Documentario, along with previously unreleased bonus tracks. Each LP is presented in its own cover and printed inner sleeve. Limited edition of 500. RIYL: Devo, DNA,The Contortions, Magma.)) 42.00

DAVID GRUBBS - prismrose LP (drag city - Prismrose is a nearly wordless collection of six pieces for electric guitar, all given real time to breathe, grow unpredictably, mutate. It’s an album—an of-a-piece, start-to-finish listen—that documents what an electric guitar sounds like in DAVID GRUBBS hands now that we’ve stumbled into the year 2016. Prismrose comes to us—comes at us—from a stellar run of expansive, hands-thinking hands-puzzling guitar music that began with the stylistic pivot of Grubbs’s solo records An Optimist Notes the Dusk and The Plain Where the Palace Stood and the two recent albums from the trio BELFI / GRUBBS / PILLA. Prismrose begins with “How to Hear What’s Less than Meets the Ear,” an eleven-minute duo written for Tony Conrad’s 75th birthday bash with Grubbs on chiming, tolling Telecaster and wunderkind percussionist and composer ELI KEZLER on backwards-somersaulting drums. Keszler makes his presence known on three of the album’s tracks. The years reel with an errand into the 14th century for “Cheery Eh,” an arrangement of Guillaume de Machaut, and a brief stop in the 19th century with a setting of Walt Whitman’s “When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer”—there are your words, unimpeachable ones—by RICK MOODY, originally recorded by the Wingdale Community Singers. Side two is unambiguously set in the present moment, and this suite of three instrumentals sails off the edge of the world with the breezy, eminently whistleable anthem “The Bonsai Waterfall.”.) 18.00

EAGULLS - ullages LP (Leeds favourites Eagulls make a slight move away from the hard-and-fast rush of their debut album with this follow-up. Ullages finds the band diving head first into the territory of 1980’s post-punk: think along the lines of early Cure cut with a little shoegaze. I must say, they wear it well.) 18.00

ELEPHANT MICAH - where in our woods LP (western vonyl - A painstaking work of minimalism, Where in Our Woods is defined by its limited palette. The arrangements foreground nylon-string guitar and an antique portable pump organ. A stripped- down drum set (played by Matthew O’Connell, Joe’s brother), a baritone ukulele, a toy recorder, and harmony vocals (sung by Will Oldham, a friend of and key influence on O’Connell) round out the sound. This sparse ensemble leaves O’Connell’s voice room to breathe, while elevating and magnifying the poetry of his songs. The album follows an ensemble cast of human and animal characters as they negotiate the supernatural and the mundane: “Light Side” catalogues a friend’s search for sublime experience through a self-described “redneck mysticism” involving in drugs, sex, and travel. “Rare Beliefs” and “Demise of the Bible Birds” explore the world of a "Bible Bird Man" from Noblesville, Indiana, who trained exotic birds to perform stunning Christian-themed stunts. “Albino Animals” is a modern day journalistic ballad, summarizing three stories found in one edition of O'Connell's hometown newspaper: readers responding to the recent slaying of an albino deer, husband-and-wife meth cooks escape federal prosecution based on an error in legal process, and a rower with local roots attempts a transatlantic passage that ends in disaster. The album closes with “Slow Time Vultures,” which was inspired by the descent of hundreds of migrating vultures on O'Connell's parents’ farm in southern Indiana. At the time of this avian congress, state government was instituting the observance of daylight savings time for the first time in Indiana. As O’Connell explains, "Maybe it goes without saying that the unexplained appearance of a sky full of vultures might seem like a harbinger of doom. I wondered if it related to the time change. At its core, this song is in the tradition of American country songs that express indignation toward the idea of progress." Throughout the album, O'Connell deftly transforms the stuff of everyday American life into a series of entrancing meditations on culture, nature, religion, and modernity.) 18.00

FALL OF SAIGON - Fall Of Saigon 1981-1984 LP (replica - Including the first 12'', live tracks and unreleased songs for the very first time on vinyl !Fall Of Saigon was born in 1981 when FLORENCE BERTHON (vocals), PASCAL COMELADE (organ, synthesizer) and THIERRY DEN (guitar, vocals) met at a concert in Montpellier, France. They chose to the name the project Fall Of Saigon after a song by UK post-punk act This Heat. They self-released their debut EP in 1983 citing Nico & The Velvet Underground, Suicide and James Joyce as influences. At the time the band formed, Pascal Comelade was an accomplished musician with instrumental sketches composed for the trio. The 6 songs on the EP were recorded in two stages. "She Leaves Me All Alone" and "On The Beach At Fontana" were sung by Thierry and recorded at Pascal's home on a Revox 2-track in one shot. The four songs sung by Florence—"Visions", "Blue Eyes", "So Long" and "The Swimmer"—were recorded and mixed at the Montpellier Languedoc Video Animation Center by Jean Alain Sidi on two ReVox A77 reel to reels and a small mixer. On "Visions," "Blue Eyes" and "So Long," the group employed a drum machine that could only play four or five rhythms with a single slider to increase or decrease the tempo. The songs were minimal: verse, chorus, no bridge, no intro. Built on a simple spine, they create a feeling of space with just a voice and an organ or synthesizer melody. Full of class and inventiveness, Fall Of Saigon are often compared to Young Marble Giants due to the fragile, ephemeral quality of the songs. ) 15.00

FERDINAND - en forme!! LP (replica - While still in ETRON FOU LELOUBLAN, Ferdinand Richard released this first solo album in 1981 on Celluloid. A unique blend of dadaist jazz, art rock and new wave, inviting FERDINAND in the club of the untypical singers chaired by Frank Zappa and Albert Marcœur.) 15.00

FIRE! ORCHESTRA - ritual DLP (rune . As brilliant as their previous album "Enter" is, with "Ritual" they have outdone themselves and produced a beast of beauty and power, extremely well executed, beautifully recorded and produced from only two days in the studio. Free improvisations, spontaneous horns, keyboard frenzy, abstract electronics, guitar mayhem and not to forget; those glorious twin voices of Mariam Wallentin and Sofia Jernberg. It´s about mysteries and rituals; in music and in life. Fire! originated as the trio of Swedish improv masters Mats Gusfasson (sax), Johan Berthling (bass) and Andreas Werliin (drums). None of them are what you could call jazz purists; they all play in many different groups and contexts, including The Thing (Gustafsson), experimental folk-electronica outfit Tape (Berthling), and skewed blues-pop unit Wildbirds & Peacedrums (Werliin). Sofia Jernberg and Mariam Wallentin have been on board since the beginning, the same goes for horn players Niklas Barnö, Jonas Kullhammar, Mats Äleklint, Per Åke Holmlander and Anna Högberg. Basically a Swedish ensemble, the orchestra now also counts Norwegian, Danish and French players. Members of Fire! Orchestra share a wide background, combining jazz, improvised music, contemporary music, rock, garage, psych, and what have you. As they proclaim on their site: "Please make up your own genre and mind - listen freely - don´t buy our labeling attempts... labeling sucks". A sentiment that basically sums up Rune Grammofon as well, so we couldn´t agree more.) 26.00

INSTED - Proud Youth: 1986-1991 DLP (RSD) (In their five-year existence, INSTED toured the USA several times and developed a huge local following at home in Orange County, CA. They were one of the most prominent straight-edge bands of the late ’80s scene, playing old school hardcore with an ultrapositive message. This 2xLP retrospective is packed to capacity with every song the band ever recorded, 45 tracks in all! This includes both of their full-lengths, their EP, and their original demo. In addition, there are five tracks that only appear in this collection. This record comes with a free digital download and, in addition to all 45 tracks, includes a 30-minute video documentary about the band as well as a 30-minute video of their entire set filmed at the Showcase Theater from one of their reunion shows in 2004.) 25.00

INTEGRITY - Humanity Is The Devil LP (RSD) (Apocalyptic metalcore. The follow up to 1995's "Systems Overload." Cover art by the legendary Pushead. Fully endorsed by Charlie Manson and the Holy Terror Church Of Final Judgement.) 19.00

JESSY LANZA - oh no LP (hyper dub The second full-length album from Jessy Lanza lands hard, skipping around the listener, buzzing with nervous energy. This is the finest of modern electro-pop, Lanza’s breathy vocals firing up the tracks she has co-produced with Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys. Oh No is again released by Hyperdub. The album oscillates between the languid, coiled, arpeggiated slow jams of ‘New Ogi’, 'Going Somewhere', 'Begins', 'Could Be U', 'I Talk BB' and the low slung 808 groove of 'Vivica', where Jessy’s vocal gymnastics run wild over minimal drums and synths, and the catchy upbeat boogie of ‘VV Violence’, ‘Never Enough’, 'Oh No' and the high point of 'It Means I Love You’ which has a sparse addictive bounce with a pitched up vocal refrain and a nod to Shangaan electro. The trials of dealing with nervousness are also encrypted into the artwork, such as the plants that recur in the sleeve and videos. As Jessy remarked, "I became obsessed with surrounding myself with tropical plants. I've been convinced that the air quality in our house is slowly killing us. It might sound crazy but the plants have made a huge difference." Anxiety and botanical remedies or not, 'Oh No' is a bold second album from Jessy and a marked step forward for her sound.) 18.00

JULIANNA BARWICK - will LP (Julianna Barwick's revelatory third full-length, Will, is a surprising left turn for the Brooklyn experimental artist. Will comes off of Barwick's busiest period in her career to date following the release of Nepenthe--a spate of activity that included playing piano for Yoko Ono, performing at Carnegie Hall at the annual Tibet House concert with the Flaming Lips and Philip Glass, the Rosabi EP and beer created in conjunction with brewing company Dogfish Head, and a re-imagining of Bach's "Adagio" from Concerto In D Minor. Barwick's life over the past several years has largely been lived in transit, and as such the genesis of Will was not beholden to location; Barwick worked on the album in a variety of locales, from a desolate house in upstate New York to the Moog Factory in Asheville, North Carolina, to Lisbon, Portugal, the first European city to embrace Julianna's music in 2007. "I love touring, but it can be a wild ride," Barwick reflects on this cycle of constant motion. "You're constantly adjusting, assimilating, and finding yourself in life-changing situations." Those experiences played into and helped shape Will's charged, unstable atmosphere: "I knew I'd be playing these songs live, so I wanted some movement," she explains. "Something that had rhythm and low-end." Will is largely a product of ups and downs, a reflection of a life lived somewhere in between transience and standing still. "While making this record, there were moments of isolation and dark currents," Barwick admits. "I like exploring that, and I love when I come across songs that sound scary or ominous. I've always been curious about what goes into making a song that way." The beguiling, beautifully complicated Will is the result of that curiosity, as well as the latest proof yet of Barwick's irresistibly engaging talent as a composer and vocalist.) 20.00

KADAVAR - berlin DLP (nuclear blast - If there‘s one certainty KADAVAR have internalized for eternity, it‘s that success will run like sand through your fingers when you chicken out after suffering a setback. It was in 2013 in the heart of the USA of all places - where the desert sun preserves deeply-furrowed faces and rusty cars in a picture of Wild West-ish glory - that an infernal series of events kicked off which would make even Berlin‘s internationally most acclaimed rock band of today falter. It started with the notorious US-American visa agency complicating the band‘s long-awaited first arrival to the United States. Subsequently, several thousand hard-earned dollars literally went up in smoke as the engine of a 1964 Ford Galaxy, specifically bought for the 'Come Back Life' video shoot, burst into flames after only a couple of miles on New Mexico‘s highways in blazing heat. And finally, when the guys had just shaken off California‘s dust from their jeans to seamlessly start into the biggest European tour in band history following their second album »Abra KADAVAR«, their bassist bailed out. Other bands would have packed it all in at this point. KADAVAR didn‘t. From today‘s perspective, one can‘t rejoice enough at this decision, for once you‘re listening to the new tracks of their upcoming third record »Berlin« that‘ll be released on August 21, the temporary rough patch appears to be nothing more than a deep breath right before jumping across the gap. Or a deep drag on a cigarette - unhealthy but shamelessly pleasant. The key to the road out of the crisis: The piece of luck that helped vocalist Lupus Lindemann and drummer Tiger Bartelt complete their line-up again with just one phone call. French-born Simon “Dragon“ Bouteloup, who had previously played in AQUA NEBULA OSCILLATOR (the French combo KADAVAR recorded a split EP with in 2012) and had become a regular on KADAVAR‘s tour bus after moving to Berlin joined the pack. Subsequent to the call, it took the trio only four days to take the dragon to the air.) 21.00

KARL BLAU - introducing karl blau .. LP (bella union - Karl Blau chooses to introduce himself with a carefully-selected array of country covers, each taken from a fertile period in Nashville’s history. Townes Van Zandt, Tom T. Hall and The Bee Gees are all interpreted in new directions, with help from Steve Moore and Tucker Martine. Thoughtful modern country.Introducing Karl Blau is released on Bella Union.) 18.00

KENDRICK LAMAR - to pimp a butterfly DLP (Following the success of his major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, in 2012, the rapper Kendrick Lamar's long-awaited follow-up, To Pimp a Butterfly (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) is about carrying the weight of that clarity: What happens when you speak out, spiritually and politically, and people actually start to listen? And what of the world you left behind?) 24.00

KLAUS JOHANN GROBE - spagat der liebe LP (col.) (Klaus Johann Grobe continue to avoid easy classification with “Spagat der Liebe”, the follow-up to their mind-scrambling 2013 debut album “Im Sinne der Zeit”. Said debut was an easy to love, but hard to pin down fusion of krautrock, disco, Tropicalia, post-punk and experimental music that garnered rave reviews both in the USA & abroad. In between numerous European festival tours & opening slots for Temples, Moon Duo & the Growlers, the band holed up in their Swiss studio compound to record “Spagat der Liebe” in the autumn of 2015. Tunes like album opener “Ein Guter Tag” & first single “Wo Sind” feel like a warm up, preparing the listener for the four-on-the-floor propulsion of “Rosen des Abschieds” - a song tailor-made to sweat to. Elsewhere the fragile “Heut Abend nur” (”Tonight Only”) & the synth-tickled “Ohne Mich” - which is closest the band has come to an honest to goodness pop tune - guides the listener by the hand towards floor fillers like “Geschichten aus erster Hand” and the absolutely DEVASTATING groove of “Liebe am Strand”, which is anchored by a rubbery bass groove & a killer flute solo that takes it over the event horizon. “Spagat der Liebe” finds the band continuing to challenge listener’s expectations, eschewing overt stylistic tropes in favor of a feeling; keeping love, passion, ecstacy, melancholy, desire & affection in a nimble balance. “Spagat der Liebe” is issued on compact disc & vinyl, with full-color inner sleeve (with lyrics) & artwork co-designed by band member Sevi Landolt.RIYL: Stereolab, Marcos Valle, Neu, ESG, Blank Realm, Moon Duo, Human League) 18.00

OLIVIA WYATT & BITCHIN BAJAS - sailing a sinking sea LP + DVD (drag city - Last year, filmmaker OLIVA WYATT invited BITCHIN BAJAS to add incidental music to the climatic sounds of her feature-length experimental documentary on the nomadic Moken people, Sailing A Sinking Sea. This new album release packages the soundtrack LP with a DVD of the film, thus opening several windows to the eternal questions posed on both formats and providing two distinct pieces of art coming from the same source. Sailing A Sinking Sea is a feature-length experimental documentary exploring the culture of the Moken people of Burma and Thailand. The Moken are a seafaring community and one of the smallest ethnic minority groups in Asia, traditionally spending eight months out of the year in thatch-roofed wooden boats. Wholly reliant upon the sea, their entire belief system revolves around water. Bitchin Bajas were tapped to add to the already-existing raft of water sounds and other field recordings captured in the film. They were shown scenes, and with subtle directions from Wyatt, laid down music in the vibe of the environment, making particularly satisfying use of auto-harps in the process. Mark McNeill at Dublab did a mix compiling film sounds and soundtrack pieces that gave the album an aquatic flow, with waves of water, Moken voices and songs and cascades of autoharp, synth, bells and flute lapping up against each other, producing a sense of time passing in its ultimate way—somehow timelessly; today twined with the epic tail of history and the million forgotten days stretching behind. The sound of the real intermingling with the music of the mind provides a hypnotic, album-length interpolation of the energies of Sinking a Sailing Sea’s incredible images. ) 22.00

PAZOP - Psychillis Of A Lunatic Genius LP (replica - Arisen on the ashes of some famous Belgian bands (WALLACE COLLECTION, WATERLOO and ARKHAM), PAZOP signed a contract and recorded this first album in 1972. Unfortunately, the label refused to release the record due to its title. Influenced by ZAPPA and the Canterbury scene, and recorded at the famous Hérouville's castle, here is this mythical album for the first time on vinyl !) 15.00
PAZOP - pazop LP (replica - After the recording of their aborted first album, the Belgian band PAZOP recorded new songs in the summer of 1973 at Start Studios. PITA - get in LP (editons mego - Recorded and mixed by Peter Rehberg at Twisted, Wien March 2015-January 2016_Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, Berlin, January 201 Twelve years have passed since Editions Mego boss Peter Rehberg released his last full length release ‘Get Off’ on the Hapna label. In the interim, along with running the label, Rehberg has embarked on a series of soundtracks for the French artist and choreographer Gisele Vienne. Out of this collaboration the seeds were planted for the prolific KTL, guitar/computer duo with Stephen O Malley. After a surprise return to live performance in 2015 we are now presented with Pita’s new full length document under the banner of Get In. Get In extends the perennial Pita sound into a paradox of intimidation and beauty. 20150609 teases the juncture between the human and the tool, the improvised and composed and the analogue and digital. Aahn inhabits a field of electronic nebula, simultaneously inviting and alien. Line Angel could be a new form of minimalism for the post internet crowd. S200729 harks to an acid most splintered whilst Mfbk completes proceedings as an ambient drift underscored with classical overtones. Get in is a beautiful, engaging and unsettling listen. A multi-headed hydra presented as the ultimate dystopian sonic journey.) 18.00

ROPE - manteision bodolaeth LP (Rope are three friends from South Wales who play their own minimal, powerful and precise brand of guitar music. They formed in 2015 from the ashes of other noteworthy South Wales bands, including Goodtime Boys and Hunger Artist. Following their debut offering, a self titled cassette EP released via Palm Reader Records (Bastions, Creeper, Castles) the band now present us with their first LP, 'Manteision Bodolaeth; or The Perks of Being’ which was recorded live in 2 days with the prestigious Lewis Johns at the Ranch Production House. In the course of its 6 songs, the album brings to mind the visceral power of Shellac, the songmanship of Nick Cave and the kind of swirling atmospherics you might expect from Neurosis or Pink Floyd, all held together by a powerful vocal delivery and thoughtful lyrics. Even in the tentative stages of the band and despite their being only a three-piece, Rope are capable of obtaining a sound with a depth beyond any of their contemporaries.) 11.00

SOMERSET - king of the lapiths LP (sømerset's next output after the fantastic demo! six tracks of furious & fast hardcorepunk! For years, sounds of the righteous and the pursuit of justifiable aggression have converged and caved into singular points of space and time. These singular points can take the shape in the form of music. In this instance, the aggression is located in Münster, Germany. There, a band by the name of Sømerset have created a well-crafted catalyst that soothes the fires of those who feel ignored, labeled, and disregarded just by merely existing. With their newest and unfortunately final effort, ‘King of the Lapiths’ emerges from beneath a sea of intensity and drives an unstoppable nature that all aggressive bands dream of achieving. A pair of raw knuckles crushing into the jaw of an entitled alpha male seems to be a real proper description for these extreme and emotional tracks. The world has problems that only bands like Sømerset can properly summarize and convey without sugarcoating the truth. Perspectives that can only be seen by those who face the seemingly incurable and most abhorrent aspects of the brutal human condition. Overwhelming hatred and bigotry permeates so much of the human race. All due to those who feel privileged and above other. Those who do not struggle on a daily basis just by existing will not understand this record. It is only through the passion and determination of these musicians that we can even begin to grasp the concepts of oppression, respect, and how the world should me. Judgement free and non-biased. Let Sømerset guide you with ‘King of the Lapiths’. A much needed journey required by any/all fans of aggressive music.) 12.00

SUN RA - the saturn singles vol.2 1959 - 1962 LP (Herman Poole Blount, better known to the world as Sun Ra, lived more musical lives in his 79 years on this planet (and others) than seems possible. In the '30s he was the most rigorous bandleader in Birmingham, heading the Sonny Blount Orchestra and filling every waking moment with music or philosophical discussions; by the '40s he had moved to Chicago and performed with luminaries such as Wynonie Harris,Fletcher Henderson, and Coleman Hawkins. By the '50s he had changed his name to Sun Ra and began performing with longtime Arkestra bandmates John Gilmore and Marshall Allen. Sun Ra started his own label, El Saturn (or Saturn), to release his own recordings as well as those featuring the Arkestra backing local R&B and doo-wop groups. This second volume of the collected Sun Ra singles focuses on Yochanan (aka The Space Age Vocalist) -- a wild and wildly original street performer from Chicago whom Sun Ra befriended (or an alias of Sun Ra's) -- along with some other amazing Sun Ra sides (and tracks by Little Mack), spanning 1959-1962.) 21.00

YOUTH CODE - Commitment To Complications LP (dais - The year 2015 saw hardcore inspired EBM outfit YOUTH CODE step into line with what most would consider is their well-earned stake in the current world of industrial music. Spending most of that time touring selectively on their own in Europe and then sweeping through North America with the legendary Skinny Puppy, Youth Code pulled together their newest songs, hunkering down with producer RHY FULBER (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY / FEAR FACTORY), and intertwined the ideas that would become their second full length album, Commitment to Complications. Commitment to Complications reflects Youth Code’s time spent with various electronic alumni and scales up the aggressive notch left behind in their previous releases. Youth Code’s introduction of the album starts on a reflective note but quickly changes gears into hyper drive BPM pacing with rhythmic complexity driven in with the track "Transitions" that can only be referenced as maniacal. Songs like "Doghead" and "Shift of Dismay" show the band as a frontrunner of definitive industrial anthems and critical songwriting skill. Another harbinger of Youth Code’s dire shift into more strident terrain would be evident in the inclusion of BEN FALGOUST (GOATWHORE) and TODD JONES (NAILS) as guest performers. The band’s cohesive collaboration with producer Rhys Fulber is in full display, driving the band’s aural trajectory into consuming and contentious industrial electronics. Comes in matte jackets with spot gloss artwork, printed inner sleeves, and lyric sheet and MP3 download card.) 24.00

V/A - François Truffaut: Bandes Originales 1959-1962 LP (Featuring the work of acclaimed composers Georges Delerue and Jean Constantin from François Truffaut's classics Les Quatre Cents Coups(The 400 Blows) (1959), Tirez sur le pianiste (Shoot the Piano Player) (1960), and Jules et Jim (1962), this collection seeks to introduce the listener to the sonic landscapes of some of the most important films of the French New Wave. From playful to intense, these tracks perfectly capture the moods of Truffaut's films and serve as the exact complement to his work. Includes vocals performances by Juliette Gréco andJeanne Moreau. Essential for any fans of Truffaut.) 21.00

WOODS / ULTIMATE PAINTING - split 7" (trouble in mond - In celebration of their 2016 tour together, Woods and Ultimate Painting team up for a limited edition 7" featuring one exclusive unreleased track from each band in what can only be described as a “double A-sider” Ultimate Painting offer up “Into The Darkness”, a lost track from their “Green Lanes” sessions, a mellow jammer heavy on mood & thick with the spindly, intertwining guitar picking that’s quickly becoming synonymous with the band. Woods deliver a jaunty pop hit, “Know Your Minute” that starts with an infectious bubblegum guitar stabs, launches into a devastatingly hooky chorus before descending into a delicious acid-fried psychedelic freakout. This match-made-in-heaven split 7-inch is a one-time pressing on black vinyl, and is limited to 1,000 copies. Housed in a 7-inch pocket sleeve with artwork by Andrew Savage of Parquet Courts. ADULT JAZZ - earrings off! LP (tri angle - Adult Jazz first appeared back in 2013, amid a flurry of praise surrounding their joyous and addictive debut single 'Springful'. Their unanimously acclaimed debut album Gist Is followed in 2014, self-released on their label Spare Thought, with The Sunday Times calling it "utterly riveting" and the NME and The Line Of Best Fit both naming it their album of the week. Gist Is was a startling and mesmerising voyage from start to finish, taking a labyrinthian, fragmented pop-not-pop path, incorporating songs within songs, while maintaining a sense humour through some of its complex themes surrounding religion, gender and humanity. Following the release of Gist Is, the band went on to play sell out tours around Europe as well as festivals including Latitude, End of The Road, CMJ and Iceland Airways. The latter was attended by none other than Bjork, who was moved to write about Adult Jazz as ones to watch for Art In America Magazine. David Byrne followed suit and asked them to play at last year's Meltdown festival with Young Marble Giants, while further endorsements came from diverse remixes by Oliver Coates, Happa and a very rare re-work from Shabazz Palaces. Since then the band have been busy collaborating, including producing OKAY KAYA's recent single 'Durer' / 'Keep On Pushin'. Adult Jazz return with a new record 'Earrings Off!' released on May 6 2016 via TriAngle.) 15.00

ALLEN TERRY - juarez LP (paradise of - Deluxe vinyl package includes expanded tip-on gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeve, download code, and 24pp. book with artwork, lyrics, and essays by Dave Hickey, Dave Alvin, and PoB. Legendary Texan artist Terry Allen occupies a unique position straddling the frontiers of country music and visual art; he has worked with everyone from Guy Clark to David Byrne to Lucinda Williams, and his artwork resides in museums worldwide. Widely celebrated as a masterpiece - arguably the greatest concept album of all time - his spare, haunting 1975 debut LP Juarez is a violent, fractured tale of the chthonic American Southwest and borderlands. Produced in collaboration with the artist and remastered from the original analog tapes, this is the definitive edition of the art-country classic: the first reissue on vinyl; the first to feature the originally intended artwork (including the lithographs that accompanied the first edition); and the first to contextualize the album within Allen's fifty-year art practice. "A master lyricist." - New York Times "Eccentric and uncompromising, savage and beautiful, literate and guttural." - Rolling Stone "The single greatest concept album of all time." - PopMatters "Like Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger as reimagined by Tarantino." – AllMusic) 26.00

CONOR OBERST AND THE MYSTIC VALLEY BAND - outer south DLP (merge - While touring in support of Conor Oberst, Conor and the Mystic Valley Band began writing new songs. The result is the first album credited to this group. DEATH - Scream Bloody Gore LP (rleapse - DEATH's legendary 1987 debut 'Scream Bloody Gore' is more than just an untouchable album - upon its release, it was positively genre-creating. 'Scream Bloody Gore' founded the quintessential death metal sound, with more tormented riffs, screams, and leads than the world had ever imagined, and established Chuck Schuldiner's inimitable phrasing and songwriting style as the most singular voice in the burgeoning genre. Today, the album is viewed unanimously as one of the all-time most important cornerstones of death metal. As the final chapter in Relapse's comprehensive DEATH reissue series, ''Scream Bloody Gore' will now receive the deluxe reissue treatment on a wide variety of formats including 2CD, Limited Edition 3CD, LP, Deluxe 2xLP Boxset, and cassette versions. Like the preceding DEATH reissues, the deluxe reissue of 'Scream Bloody Gore' has been meticulously remastered from the original tapes by Alan Douches (Death, Mastodon, Nile) and includes a plethora of bonus content, including previously unreleased recordings and rehearsal demos, super-expanded packaging, and brand-new extensive liner notes from former DEATH drummer / Autopsy founder Chris Reifert, Sepultura's Max Cavalera, and original 'Scream Bloody Gore' producer Randy Burns.) 20.00

FLOWERS TAPED TO PENS - nice to meet you i hate you LP (12_ release of the two year old debut LP “Nice to Meet You I Hate You” by highschool crybaby’s known as Flowers Taped To Pens. DIY recorded twinkly screamo from San Diego, CA. Co-release with: Bad Break Records, Little L Records, Tyburn Woods, Structures//Agony Records, Paperweight Records, Santapogue Media “Albums like this are the epitome of what I love about DIY and garage recordings in general. The recordings aren’t perfect, or doctored up by any means and you can feel the raw, in your face, emotion that seeps out of every song on this 7 song EP roller-coaster ride. Dipping into at times a definite emo violence sound and jumping back with some twinkly riffs and leads with rough, strained screaming, Flowers Taped to Pens really captures what I would consider the true essence of emo.” – emomusic) 16.00

GRUESOME - Dimensions of Horror LP (relapse - After exploding onto the death metal scene in 2015 with their Leprosy-inspired full-length debut 'Savage Land', death metal wrecking crew GRUESOME (featuring current and former members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation, and Derketa) returns in 2016 with a new EP entitled 'Dimensions Of Horror'. Self-produced by the band and recorded with Jarrett Pritchard at New Constellation Studios in Orlando, FL, 'Dimensions of Horror' is a gruesome salute to DEATH's iconic 'Scream Bloody Gore' and once again features cover art by the legendary Ed Repka (DEATH, Atheist, Massacre). A six-song slab of grisly, bone-breaking death metal jams, 'Dimensions Of Horror' continues the development of GRUESOME's homage to the founding fathers of the genre and proves that no matter the decade, old-school death metal is always relevant, always savage, and always irresistible.) 19.00

JOHN ANGAIAK - lost in the city LP (future days - * Officially licensed reissue * Featured on Native North America (Vol. 1): Aboriginal Folk, Rock, and Country 1966-1985 * Remastered from the original analogue master tapes * Expanded gatefold edition with John Angaiak painting I'm Lost in the City (1971) is the sole vinyl LP offering from Yup'ik singer-songwriter, John Angaiak. Born in Nightmute, Alaska, in 1941, Angaiak began playing guitar at a young age, quickly learning the basics before serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Stationed in Vietnam and far away from home, Angaiak forged an astute outlook on his region, his country, and the world itself. Upon his return, Angaiak enrolled in the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where he became active in the preservation of his native language as part of the school's Eskimo Language Workshop. Inspired by the program's work and a friendship with music student Stephen Halbern, Angaiak recorded I'm Lost in the City, a project that helped to document and promote the previously oral Yup'ik language into a written one through a series of songs. Each side of the album, which showcases John's intimate vocal and guitar style, shares a part of Angaiak's culture and history: Side One is sung in Yup'ik, while the material on Side Two is delivered in English. Both are equally emotional, deeply personal and extremely affecting. Over 13 songs, Angaiak speaks to his community and also to the world. "Ak'a Tamaani," for one, became a regional hit in Alaska and reached as far as Greenland where Angaiak later performed in concert. Though I'm Lost in the City garnered a small mention in industry bible Billboard, regardless of the album's cultural value, it sold poorly outside of Alaska and other northern communities, never finding a broader audience.) 33.00

MARISSA NADLER - strangers LP (bella union - For more than 12 years, Marissa Nadler has perfected her own take on the exquisitely sculpted gothic American songform. On her seventh full-length,Strangers, she has shed any self-imposed restrictions her earlier albums adhered to, stepped through a looking glass, and created a truly monumental work. In the two years since 2014’s elegiac, autobiographical July, Nadler has reconciled the heartbreak so often a catalyst for her songwriting. Turning her writing to more universal themes, Nadler dives deep into a surreal, apocalyptic dreamscape. Her lyrics touch upon the loneliness and despair of the characters that inhabit them. These muses are primal, fractured, disillusioned, delicate, and alone. They are the unified voice of this record, the titular “strangers.”) 19.00

MORLEY LOON - northland, my land LP (future days - * Officially licensed reissue * Includes "N'Doheeno" as featured on Native North America (Vol. 1): Aboriginal Folk, Rock, and Country 1966-1985 * Expanded gatefold edition featuring Cree language lyrics and translation and unseen photos * Remastered from the original analogue master tapes Northland, My Land is the full-length vinyl debut from Cree singer-songwriter, actor, and force of nature, Morley Loon (1948-1986). Born in Mistissini, Quebec, Loon became active in music at an early age. Drawing from his Cree culture, language, and environment, Loon developed an organic style that inspired many Indigenous musicians.
News of his talent even reached producers at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in the late 1970s. Two 7" EPs of original Cree language compositions were laid down first and later compiled into the Northland, My Land album, which was released to the public in 1981. Accompanied by percussion and flute, Loon taps into a spiritual place with this material, achieving a transcendent quality rarely heard in music.) 33.00

PEACE - black power LP (now again – Essential garage Zamrock/soul/funk: the first official reissue of the celebrated band’s one and only album. The musical style that became known as Zamrock came to embody the economic despair that followed the 1973-1974 oil crisis, which flung Zambia into recession and exacerbated a wide range of social tensions. Much of Zamrock also captured the controversy of wider politics in Africa and the world. Perhaps the finest example of this is Black Power by The Peace. The Boyfriends, from Kitwe’s Chamboli Mine Township, supplied the founding members for Zamrock’s most famous band, WITCH, and kick started one of Zamrock’s best bands, Peace. Their sole Zamrock entry, Black Power, recorded at Malachite Film Studio circa 1973/4 and issued circa 1975, sounds like nothing else in the Zamrock canon: a lost message drifiting from the flower power era, imbued with a fiery Zambian voice.) 25.00

SATYRICON - Nemesis Divina LP (napalm - “The most significant and creatively vital album in Norwegian Black Metal! An exclusive high-class re-issue, mastered by legendary Satyr himself!”"There are, at most, a handful of albums and a handful of songs that really define modern day black metal. Nemesis Divina is definitely one of those records, and ‘Mother North‘ is definitely one of those songs,” Satyr boldly (and rightfully) claims.__When Satyricon released their third album in 1996, their status as one of the most significant and creatively vital bands in Norwegian black metal was already beyond dispute, but Nemesis Divina was no ordinary record or just another step along the road to infamy. From its uniquely vibrant and impactful artwork, which broke every supposed rule in the black metal handbook with its vivid colours and refined aesthetic core, to the supremely confident and idiosyncratic songs and individual performances that heralded a newfound sophistication and a freshly incisive vision, Nemesis Divina almost single-handedly took black metal from its voluntarily shadowy and obscure origins into the glaring spotlight of the international metal scene. It showcased a band that finally had the skill and the musical intuition to back up the undeniable potency of their artistic vision. Sonically devastating and compositionally meticulous, songs like ‘Mother North‘ and ‘The Dawn Of A New Age‘ redefined what black metal was capable of, while proudly retaining the genre’s ageless essence and aesthetic values.) 20.00

TOTEM SKIN - Still Waters Run Deep LP (adagio830 - We are glad to bring this album back - this time w/ a slight different artwork. Totem Skin's shivering melodies were created in the deep forests in the outskirts of Borlänge, Sweden; conducted by 6 individuals who poured every drop of passion they could harvest from the bottom of their hearts. The band saw its dawn in the fall/winter of 2012 as a three piece, which produced and recorded two EP’s themselves while adding members as recording went along. The full line-up was completed in March 2013, allowing the band to further expand on their musical horizons “Still Waters Run Deep” is the band’s first full length and their first real documentation since the completed formation. Recorded at the Ranch Production House in Southampton, UK and engineered by Lewis Johns (Goodtime Boys, ex-The Long Haul), the soundscape of the album ranges from raw aggression to doomy heaviness and unsettling guitar melodies. The vocals create an honest and desperate atmosphere, with the dual vocalists screaming themes of nature and problems in life. Intense grinding shares space with quiet and reverent moments, but the sonic landscape is always filled with emotion.) 12.00

V/A - Wake Up You Vol.2 (Nigerian Rock '72-77) DLP + BOOK (The Western world was in the throes of peace, love and flower power as Nigeria descended into Civil War in 1967. The rock scene that developed during the following three years ofbloodshed and destruction would come to heal the country, propagate the world-wide ideal of the Modern Nigerian, and propel Fela to stardom after conflict ended in 1970. Wake Up You! tells the story of this time, pays homage to these now-forgotten musicians and their struggle, and brings to light the funk and psychedelic fury they created as they wrested free of the ravages of the late 1960s and created thrilling, original Nigerian rock music throughout the 1970s. Presented in two volumes, each in a 100 page book full of never-seen photos along with detailed liner notes by Nigerian musicologist and researcher Uchenna Ikonne (Who Is William Onyeabor?), with all tracks fully licensed from the bands themselves. This Double LP Is Packaged With a Stand Alone 100 Page Full Color Book, Filled With Incredible Photos And Words By Nigerian music historian Uchenna Ikonne (Who Is William Onyeabor?)) 45.00

WODE - s/t CD (vendetta - "Six tracks of apocalyptic black metal, Wode's newest record unleashes five years of outstanding potential, finding the band on deadly form, wielding enough surprises to suggest that its work in service to the counter-cosmos is far from done." __"...visceral black metal that’s making waves in the north of England." - Terrorizer __"The promise of Wode has been realised. This is grand artistry, but without the pompousness of many, reliant instead simply on well produced, fierce as fuck black metal. Fantastic." – Ninehertz listen: 10.00

ANGEL DU$T - Upside Down b/w Teenage Haze 7" (grave mistake - On the second single for their upcoming LP, Rock the Fuck on Forever, Angel Du$t deliver a 120-second blast of pure melody in the blissed out pop gem that is "Upside Down." While Angel Du$t have made a name for themselves with their own off-kilter brand of spastic, high octane adrenaline blasts, they've also showed us that they have quite the knack for a big melody and catchy hook. Guaranteed to get your toe tapping and head bobbing, "Upside Down" is a testament to Angel Du$t's penchant for melody and pop sensibility, and is poised to be the perfect soundtrack for your start to Spring.) 6.50

CROWS AN WRA - kakotopia 7" (adagio830 - The new EP from Cornwall prog punx Crows An Wra, released late Spring 2016 via ourselves and a bunch of other wicked labels worldwide. Expanding on some of the sounds they'd road-tested on their last record, Kalopsia, C-A-W venture deeper into the cosmos with three frenetic new tracks dripping with reverb and bathed in cosmic energy. One of the most exciting and inventive punk bands in the UK for sure. 300 copies and screen printed covers) 6.00

DAG NASTY - Cold Heart b/w Wanting Nothing 7" (dischord - This 7" single features two songs by Dag Nasty recorded with Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios in December 2015. These two songs mark the first time this lineup has been in the studio together since October 1985. 7" includes digital download.) 6.00

THOU / BARGHEST - split 10" (THOU side includes the unedited version of "The Mystery of Contradictions." BARGHEST side has a song from the new line-up. Epic stuff. ) 16.00

V/A - DEVON FOLKLORE TAPES VOL.IV - RITUALS & PRACTICES 2x10" / BOOK (In 2014, Folklore Tapes launched their periodic folk tradition series ‘Calendar Customs’, in which the collective trace ancestral roots much further back than 1846, when the term folklore was said to be first coined by W.J Thomas. Certainly, the vestiges of our social and ritual practice are far too numerous to galvanize into one release, so this twin ten-inch can be seen as our embarkation on what promises to be an ever-unfurling foray into the rites and customs of our forbears, some of which continue to flourish to this day.Paper Dollhouse responds to the general idea and definition of the term ritual, by conducting a ceremony in the rural landscape within a circle of trees and stone. The exploration involves a quiet dialogue to invoke a subconscious tale informed by their research, as well as the elemental use of fire through the burning of an effigy. Using a stone during their performance, the pair channeled an ancient superstition of Shebbear in North Devon, where a huge rock known as the Devil’s Boulder is ritually turned over annually by the villagers, to avoid bringing about calamity. The circular formation is invoked in their use of auditory rounds, intended to make reference to both stone circles and the cyclical energy of the serpent eating its own self. Magpahi weaves together a rich tapestry encompassing six different forms of ritual from the West Country, largely informed by the work of the late folklorist Theo Brown. Alison presents a sonic vitrine of tales and customs. Among them are the salting down of a corpse at an isolated Dartmoor inn; the plaiting of corn dollies in the field, tied from standing sheaves; the dangers of picking the white flowers of stitchwort (which may result in being spirit-led away by malignant pixie folk); and the work of witches and charmers in Devon, including their use of snakeskin for curses.) 32.00

ASH KOOSHA - i aka i LP (ninja tune - Ninja Tune are proud to announce the forthcoming release of a new album, I AKA I, from Ash Koosha. Born in Iran and currently living in London, Ash makes the kind of “mind-bending electronic music” (Pitchfork), which has had the cognoscenti buzzing for months. Working mainly with his own field recordings, treating each sampled source as a physical object, Koosha squeezes, stretches, distorts and moulds units of sound before using a background in classical music - both Persian and Western - gleaned from his time at the Tehran Conservatory of Music to structure and shape the result into affecting, original and often beautiful movements - a process he calls “finding geometry in sounds.” Koosha has already lived and done more than most artists do in a lifetime, not least being imprisoned in Iran for his music and having to seek asylum in the UK. More important to him are his current activities, from film and synaesthetic experiments to FACT Albums of the Year and support from the likes of Run The Jewels and Empress OF, to an interest in virtual reality which will lead to a world’s first VR “experience” of his new album, at special ‘viewings’ next year. His process sounds technical and the results are both destructive as well as constructive, but the resulting album I AKA I is also fundamentally human, and that’s set to take Koosha to a whole new level.) 18.00

AUSTIN LUCAS - between the moon & the midwest LP (No one ever said country music had to be simple, and when Austin Lucas began thinking about the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2013 album Stay Reckless he had a lot on his mind. The Indiana troubadour wanted to do something not only different from his own work, but unlike anything else being done in the realm of country music and Americana. Between The Moon And The Midwest marries traditional & cosmic country sounds with sharp, vivid storytelling in a fully realized album concept. Citing influences like Buck Owens and George Jones, Lucas had wanted to record a fully country album since 2011?s A New Home In The Old World. Enlisting the help of Joey Kneiser - guitarist and vocalist of the Tennessee band Glossary- they crafted a sound that, while rooted in outlaw and hard country, was infused with 60s psychedelic pop like the Zombies and the Beach Boys circa Pet Sounds. The result is a finely produced sound layered with guitar, vocal harmonies and atmospheric harmonics. Between The Moon And The Midwest is unique in its mix of sounds, songwriting, and influences. From the country-gold sound of ?Unbroken Hearts?, the infectious ?Ain?t We Free?, to the plaintive truths in ?Wrong Side of the Dream? and ?The Flame?, he delivers an album at once timeless and modern. Boosted by guest appearances from John Moreland, Lydia Loveless, and Cory Branan, Between The Moon And The Midwest finds Lucas at the top of his game and taking his music into exciting new territory.) 17.00

THE BODY & FULL OF HELL - One Day You Will LP (thrill jockey - The Body was formed in 1999 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Since inception, their output has been massively prolific and their sound uncategorized and unmatched. The duo writes and acts as one, a deafening wail against a failing species. Full of Hell was formed in 2009 in Ocean City, Maryland. In similar ethos, the band has remained prolific and relentless since and has continued to challenge themselves, channeling sounds from across the spectrum of extreme music into a nihilistic wall of oppressive sound. Through their own respective recordings, both The Body and Full Of Hell are internationally-revered as forward-thinking entities of extreme music, delivering their musical torment through incredibly intense and often unorthodox methods. The Body’s 2010 released All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood sophomore LP remains one of the band’s prolific high points and one of the most groundbreaking and frightening albums in recent times. Their subsequent releases, including several LPs and more for Thrill Jockey have continued to expand upon this seminal release. Similarly, Full Of Hell rapidly became a favorite amongst hardcore, grind, death and noise metal fans immediately upon their formation with an incredibly energetic and destructive live attack. Their 2013-released Rudiments Of Mutilationsophomore LP solidified them as one of the most damaging new acts out there, and since its release the band’s intensity and hunger for experimentation has magnified immensely. Both bands are proven collaborators, relishing the results of collective efforts to create life-numbing constellations of distortion and depravity. The two members of The Body have joined forces with arcane producer The Haxan Cloak for I Shall Die Here, Louisiana’s darkest sludge troupe Thou for You, Whom I Have Always Hated, as well as Nothing Passes with Braveyoung and a myriad of splits with artists as diverse and detesting as Australia’s Whitehorse, Japan’s Vampillia and Sandworm, taking their virulent, insidious influence to unsuspecting destinations across the globe. Full of Hell made a big impression with 2014’s two-part alliance with internationally feared noisemonger Merzbow, which resulted in the Full of Hell & Merzbow LP and the subsequent Sister Fawn EP. Their discography is littered with noise-soaked demos and splits that wrench Full of Hell in to fresh dimensions of heaviness and extremity, and their constant live actions never cease to stun.) 18.00

CONEHEADS - L.P.1. LP (3rd press, this time in green artwork...The NWI scene is on another level to the rest of humanity. Oh yes, it's going to get weird once you put this shit on. Coneheads are a basement punk band who have decided to douse themselves in creepy circus riffs, robot meets alien vocals with science-fiction wackyness. Keep in mind, it's still punk and damn catchy! Who said weird can't be catchy? They sound like DOW JONES AND THE INDUSTRIALS on speed or a more manic DEVO. This would perfectly fit in 1982 but I doubt they were born before 92. Major points for historical awareness! The rhythm barrels along while solos are interspersed at six second intervals, desperately played like a blur between a Jerry Lee Richard piano solo and a fevered banjo picker who lives in an Appalachian cave. It's hard to find the line between cheap gimmick and true weirdness sometimes, but this one shows that line with every spin. This band is highly addictive and leaves you stunned!) 12.00

DOWNFALL OF NUR - umbras e forestas LP (vendetta - "Umbras e Forestas is the best of two distinct worlds. If you like your black metal raw, underproduced, its potential only grasped by those conscripted to the BM army, you have that. Their screams avoid the usual, meek throating you typically find for more of a rotting sound, but the real moments of captivation are how they balance that with ambiance and folk, transporting the listener into a culture perceived across centuries, real because of the hands that fashioned the lens. The empty spaces of storms and archaic folk take this to where all black metal should go." Written by Stanley Stepanic) 14.00

ELIZABETH COTTON - Shake Sugaree LP (folkways - Elizabeth Cotton's second and most varied LP. Features some her greatest performances. Elizabeth Cotten is one of the absolute best folk musicians of all time and this is an essential document. Blues, ballads, breakdowns and folk songs as only Elizabeth could play them. This is a limited edition with a "tip on" cover and 180 Gram vinyl. ) 20.00

ESOTERIC - the pernicious enigma 3xLP (Esoteric is a British band from Birmingham founded in 1992 that incorporates extreme Doom Metal with distorted vocals and samples over slow paced, down-tuned riffs and atmospheric melodies. The Pernicious Enigma is their second studio album (double CD) that was released in 1997 through Aesthetic Death Records., and now finally got a vinyl release Ultra slow Funeral Doom (also some faster parts or songs included),heavy rhythm guitars, using reverb and delay effects (creating a "psychedelic" dark ambiance feeling), shifting bass rhythms and low guttural vocals. Nice usage of samples over tracks and some jazzy parts also exists in songs like "NOXBC9701040". A very good album with a lot of dark noise elements ,heavy ambiance and power.) 28.00

FATOU SEIDI GHALI & ALMANOU AKROUNI - Les Filles de Illighadad LP (sahel - Sublime recordings from rural Niger. Two very different sides of Tuareg music - dreamy ishumar acoustic guitar sessions, and the hypnotic polyphonic tende that inspires it. Guitarist Fatou Seidi Ghali and vocalist Alamnou Akrouni lead their collective, named after the village. Recorded in the open air studio of the desert.) 18.00

GAG - America's Greatest Hit LP (erste theke - EURO PRESS with different artwork. Received a 7.7 rating from Pitchfork. Destined to be the most famous of all the bands. At least in their vision of the future that is. We like them. You like them. Why not? Go big or fuck off. Trippy violence and snake charms drenched in delay and fuel this wild, ugly, mid-tempo hardcore punk vehicle. All the way across the salt. For 180 days. Crew up and get down with America’s greatest. Recorded by NUDITY's own CAPT. TRIPPS in Olympia, WA. Edition of 700 copies on black vinyl, housed in a heavy duty sleeve adorned with SCOTT YOUNG's perfect artwork. Includes a download.) 12.00

GERMAN ARMY - Kalash Tirich Mir LP (yerevan tapes - German Army is a duo from somewhere just outside of Los Angeles, CA, in the dehydrated and dilapidated outskirts of San Bernardino County. Little is known about them, but what you need to know is this: a prolific non-stop stream of countless releases in all formats in less than four years for labels like Opal Tapes, Handmade Birds, Beläten and Chondritic Sound. A truly weird approach that mixes up early industrial and exotic infatuations, cheap gear electronics and world music soundbites, obnoxious drones and beach-like radiance. Again, primitive toy drumming and Eastern traditions heritage, twanging guitars and dub reverberating influences. All this and more is Kalash Tirich Mir, a fucked-up name like it’s supposed to for the band’s fifth full-length on vinyl LP. Fourteen tracks that will mess your mind up and make you wander around German Army’s wilderness.) 16.00

IBRAHIM FERRER - bunea visa social club presents 2LP (world cicruit - Two years after the release of Grammy Award winning, six million selling Buena Vista Social Club, many of the same musicians went back into the studio to record the debut album of Ibrahim Ferrer, one of the stars of the BVSC. Available for the very first time on double vinyl, it’s pressed on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl and housed in gatefold sleeve alongside a beautiful 16 page booklet and download card. With Ry Cooder and Nick Gold producing, the release went on to sell over one and half million copies world-wide and elevate Ibrahim to superstar status. The album is a collection of eleven songs by the golden voice of Cuban music. Using the Buena Vista Social Club rhythm section and featuring the piano of Rubén González, this album takes the listener on a very different journey to that of any other Cuban record. ) 25.00

KENDRICK LAMAR - Untitled Unmastered LP (Oh yes, next big surprise release by King Kendrick called "Untitled Remastered". ) 25.00

KLARA LEWIS - too LP (editions mego - Written, produced and mixed by Klara Lewis
Additional sound contributions on tracks 2 & 5 by Simon Fisher TurnerMastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, February 2016Drawing by Klara Lewis
Layout by Andreas Karperyd - Following her acclaimed debut ‘Ett’ (Editions Mego) and the subsequent Msuic EP (Peder Mannerfelt) Editions Mego is very proud to present the second full length lp by Klara Lewis. Lewis’ skill at sculpting the hermetic shines on Too as she twists her idiosyncratic vision into nine tracks of blurred rhythms and haunted backdrops. Too is a powerful statement where the individual works tread a vast landscape as dour and aggressive elements rub shoulders with warmer optimistic works. Neither looking behind nor forward these works spiral in a time of their own devising, presenting themselves as a most audacious theatre for the ear. With a strong momentum developed from an organic outset the works move into a logic of their own, forming themselves as abstract landscapes, jitered rhythms and even pop like structures. Too is a deeply engaging display of sound and skewered sensibility which hovers the cusp of reason and eludes the concrete. The results are Lewis’ boldest statement to date.) 18.00

KRISTIN KONTROL - x-communicate LP (sub pop - It was a tough call for Dee Dee. Dum Dum Girls was her guise for the better part of a decade, an outlet through which she had crafted an instantly identifiable body of work. Demos made in a studio apartment on a nylon string guitar and posted on to a Myspace page pricked the ears of various labels including Sub Pop who the band signed with. From there, Dee Dee assembled her group of badass, black-clad cadets and toured the world. Over the course of three albums, four EPs, and a bold brace of singles, Dum Dum Girls morphed from the girl-group-gone-bad moves of debut album I Will Be (2010), to the plush noir-pop of 2014’s Too True, with its motorik beats and svelte harmonies; a dark heart burning bright “The first music I felt was mine was classic 80s pop and 90s R&B, from Tiffany and Debbie Gibson to Janet Jackson and Madonna, to TLC and SWV,” she says. “But for years I was hellbent on the rock’n’roll thing, revering Joan Jett, Patti Smith, Chrissie Hynde” — a rebellion against her classical vocal training — “but with Kristin Kontrol I just wanted to try it all….I thought I’m Kate Bush covering Mariah.” “I feel free. I had to excommunicate myself to be able to explore. Even if I have to rebuild my whole career, I’d rather work tirelessly then feel stagnant. I feel excited again, and you can’t put a price on that.” ) 18.00

THE LINES - Hull Down LP (acute - Between 1978 and 1983,The Lines released 5 singles, 1 EP and 2 LPs to mixed reviews and little sales. One reviewer at the time noted: "The stumbling block for instant accolades seems to be the puzzling paradox that these are lasting pieces of work which require several listens before they finally take root in your soul." Sure enough, anybody who's spent enough time with these records has developed a cult like devotion to The Lines. Acute Records is excited to present our latest and final release, the “lost” third album by The Lines. After the release of their cultclassic singles, EPs and LPs (compiled on Acute’s Memory Span and Flood Bank releases,) The Lines continued to record, first in a series of home experiments and then in William Orbit’s Guerilla Studios. Unfortunately these recordings were never finalized as band mem0bers began to drift apart. Although they played shows with bands like The Cure, Bauhaus and Birthday Party, and featured members of prag Vec and AlternativeTV, they were never part of any scene. They never toured and rarely spoke to the press. For 5 years they rehearsed, performed and recorded to little acclaim, leaving only 8 releases on vinyl. While unappreciated in their time, they perfectly encapsulate the best qualities of the era: angst ridden Angularity, danceable catchiness, sublime dubinfluenced atmospherics, sonic experimentation and killer hooks, with an unrivalled consistency. Singer and multiinstrumentalist Rico Conning continued working at Guerilla, spending the better part of the 80s engineering and remixing such artists as Wire, Coil, Swans,Renegade Soundwave, Depeche Mode and many others of your favourite bands, often in collaboration with Mute’s Daniel Miller.) 18.00

LITHICS - Borrowed Floors LP (water wing - Lithics is a four person minimalist punk band from Portland, Oregon formed in late 2014. Over the last year and a half they have refined a sound focusing on interlocked bass and drum rhythms paired with shrill guitar counterpoint and stark female vocals. While counting Wire, The Fall, Devo, Pylon, The Shadow Ring, and Captain Beefheart's Magic Band as reference points, the band's concerns are contemporary and urgent. An injection of uptight, nervous energy into the reverb drenched complacency of today's musical underground. "...basically the stuff of my post-punk dreams, with needles-and-pins guitar lines jabbing and competing for space with minimalist, meditative bass/drums synchronization and coolly detached female vocals that drift somewhere between the twin inspirations of Allison Statton of Young Marble Giants, and Vanessa Briscoe of Pylon." - Erika Elizabeth, Maximum Rock 'n' Roll #392.) 17.00

LOREN CONNORS - lullabye LP (recital - Originally released as a CDr in 2001 (in an edition of 100 copies), Lullaby continues where Connors' Airs (1999) left off. A story of shadowed miniatures; flickering electronic guitar poems. The compassion is ever-present, as in all of Connors' work. Remastered for vinyl by Taylor Deupree at 12k Mastering.) 21.00

THE MERCURY PROGRAM - new myths LP (lovitt - New Myths is the fifth full-length by THE MERCURY PROGRAM. Formed in Gainesville, Florida in 1997, The Mercury Program released music on Boxcar, Tiger Style, and Kindercore Records and toured heavily through the early ’00s. Now split between distant locales—with members spread between New York, Gainesville, and Palm City—the band has become slightly hiatus-prone as of late. The quartet’s previous LP, Chez Viking, arrived seven years ago, in 2009. Another multi-year break divided that record from its predecessor, A Data Learn The Language. Meanwhile, shifting obligations have made it harder to occupy the same room, much less write and record new material. However, even though their time together has become more rarified, the band has retained its distinctive style and voice. As per Mercury Program’s previous releases, the music on New Myths is lush and consonant – a combination of nuanced rhythms, minimalist riffs, and hazy atmospheres. Melodies are gracefully swapped and shuffled between guitar, vibraphone, and Rhodes piano. The music is serene and often hypnotic. New Myths was written and recorded during five distraction-free days spent in Northwest Vermont with the band’s friend and touring sound engineer, PETER BARTSOCAS. Sketches from previous sessions were further refined and new songs quickly took form. The Mercury Program emerged from the trip with a nearly complete set of songs, with only “Constant Static” realized later, as drummer DAVE LEBLEU wove together and expanded on snippets of unfinished material. The record is the product of a week’s worth of studio time, but many years worth of thought and planning. It reflects The Mercury Program’s current state of operation—keeping a slow pace, but always moving forward.) 15.00

OUMOU ANGARE - moussolou LP (world circuit - Deluxe release for Record Store Day 2016. Now for the very first time World Circuit are releasing this iconic album on deluxe single vinyl. Mastered at Abbey Road the vinyl is pressed on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl and presented alongside a beautiful 10 page booklet and download card. In 1989 Oumou Sangare, a young singer from the Wassoulou region of southern Mali, went to the JBZ studio in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to record her debut album. Except for electric guitar and bass, the line-up was traditional – kamalengoni or 5-string ‘youth’s harp’, karinyang (iron scraper) and violin (substituting the local one-string fiddle). The music they recorded was exactly the kind of music performed by hunters to charm the wild animals and invoke the protecting spirits, but with updated lyrics reflecting the concerns of young women living in African cities today) 21.00

PLEBEIAN GRANDSTAND - false highs, true lows LP (throatruiner - Plebeian Grandstand is a four piece band from France who formed in 2005. Plebeian Grandstand play a chaotic and volatile style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, black metal, and sludge within their sound. Since their inception in 2005, Plebeian Grandstand have released a nine song LP titled How Hate Is Hard To Define in January of 2010, a three-way split LP with Bone Dance and Divider in January of 2012, a split 10" with Cortez in May of 2013, and an eight song LP titled Lowgazers in March of 2014. False Highs, True Lows is the band's latest eight song full-length LP, which is slated for release via Throatruiner and Basement Apes records on April 29th, 2016. On False Highs, True Lows, Plebeian Grandstand offer up eight tracks of chaotic, volatile, and brutal as fuck sounding hardcore, punk, black metal, and sludge. Overall, False Highs, True Lows is an amazing Lp and should not be missed. ( deadpulpit ) 13.00

PRIMITIVE MAN / NORTHLESS - split LP (halo of flies – restock - “There’s no taking it easy or leaving time to breathe for a band like Primitive Man. The band has laid down some of the most crushing and heavy pieces of blackened doom/sludge mingled with caustic noise.” – Metal Injection „Northless are by no means re-inventing the genre of sludge but what they are doing is owning it like few bands have done before them. They do more than plod out riffs, they make the listener feel and they make the listener care.”- Metal Bandcampgatefold covers, download code.) 15.00

PUP - the dream is over LP (side one dummy - Toronto's Pup follow up their debut (our album of the year 2014!) with The Dream Is Over. REPOS - poser LP (youth attack - all covers have a slight seam split - With a legacy spanning 14 years, THE REPOS reign as living legends at the forefront of contemporary Hardcore. Their first two albums are undisputed sought-after classics. Following years of incredible tape and EP releases, they finally usher forth their most accomplished work yet: Poser. Sounding more unhinged than ever, guitarist Joe Phillips shines while cult frontman Aaron Aspinwall delivers his best and most visual lyrics to date. Poser has an unrelenting ferocity that paints a gritty vision of life on the outskirts that few dare tread. THE REPOS are the embodiment of all that YOUTH ATTACK represents: outstanding, pure, uncompromising Hardcore.) 18.00

SIN MOTIVO - el desierto LP (erste theke - Finally! After two stunning demo tapes SIN MOTIVO created this untold hardcore punk 12" bastard. Born and bred in Fort Worth/ Denton, Texas' legacy of DIY, SIN MOTIVO seeks to push what it means to be punk in 2015. In equal parts Victim In Pain and Too Many Humans, SIN MOTIVO perpetually pushes Punk's lack of attention span Psychedelic drudging interwoven with a classic hardcore punk formula balances out to create a true sonic seduction. All aspects mentioned before are finally realized in their recent opus, El Desierto, an LP brought to you by members of Wiccans, The Sentenced, and Treatment. Their recordings capture that energy perfectly and form some of the most driving and propulsive hardcore punk I have heard in ages. You need to hear this. These songs are chaotic and unrelenting. Constant changes make the songs feel relatively short although some of them stretch out over five minutes and even the shorter songs just plod along. Sin Motivo isn't afraid of frantically throwing anything and everything into a speedy, punk rock blender that persists of thumping around for a moment before exploding into a hardcore nail bomb. If you like your hardcore chaotic and turbulent, you're in for a hell of a ride. This is hardcore punk with demonic vocals and hard-as-nail beats that is extremely hard to shake once you have heared it. Ferocious, dissonant hardcore focused in intensity and all-out rage. A record full of uneasiness and trepidation. SIN MOTIVO is another living proof for how great the current Austin punk/hardcore crop is.
Recorded / Mixed by Dentons finest, Mark Ryan and Jeff Burke ( Marked Men, High Tension Wires, Mind Spiders, Radioactivity ) and mastered by Daniel Hussain ( Red Dons ) I am more than honoured to release this timeless LP.) 12.00

TALK TALK - laughing stock LP (back to black - Talk Talk’s Laughing Stock, the group’s 1991 final album, took a year to make, and yet it has required decades to fully appreciate. Following up on the abstract and composerly Spirit of Eden, which sufficiently alienating pop fans of the band’s earlier material, Laughing Stock took spaces in recorded music to new extremes, with layers of silence breathing through strings, woodwinds, percussion and Mark Hollis’ delicate vocals. The record exists as one complete thought, albeit with jagged diversions and tangents.) 22.00

TENEMENT - Bruised Music Vol. 2 LP (toxic pop - Bruised Music Vol. 2 features an era of transition for Wisconsin punk band Tenement. You'll hear the first inkling of Tenement's interest in the fusion of classical stringed instruments and pop music in "Wouldn't Let You Go," an instrumental piece called "Jet Slug" that sits somewhere between Pavement and Ferrante & Teicher, the chunky, blown-out punk/pop of "Blast Exhaust" and "Taking Everything," which seem too aggressive to label simply as "pop punk" yet too melodic to label as "hardcore," and the acoustic ballad "Your Sway..." with Nick Drake-esque chord patterns. You'll hear the twinkling pianos of "Perverse Universe" and the jangling, sparkling guitars and lush vocal harmonies of "Paper Airplanes," and it will sound so achingly familiar yet so hard to generalize or pin down. Fourteen tracks in all, including material compiled from the "Taking Everything" EP, split 7" with Culo, split 7" with Cheeky, "Freak Cast In Iron" 7" single, "Puke And Destroy Vol. 2" 7" compilation, and the split 7" with Screaming Females. All material has once again been mastered for this release by Daniel Husayn at North London Bomb Factory.) 16.00

TOTAL LOVE - same LP (Here it is, the soundtrack of your summer! All the way from Toronto, Ontario, the stunning debut record of TOTAL LOVE! The first time I listened to this record, I knew it was the start of something amazing. What you get is a sun-soaked beach, garage, punk, pop gem that will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Simple, haunting, instantly memorable pop songs that will leave you glad to be alive. Let's just call it beach punk; these guys are keeping it tight and far from over-produced. Their formula is simple: big, poppy riffs and catchy choruses, jangly upbeat guitars and reverb soaked vocals. Confident, heart-felt, refreshingly irony-free beach pop that is just about the catchiest thing you have heard in a long time. This is a fantastic and exhilarating summertime pop album, so get your beers and yourselves ready to start summer in TOTAL LOVE! I guess you could say we are a TOTAL LOVE fan and I know that after listening to this record, everyone else will be, too...) 12.00

VERDUN - the eternal drift's canticles DLP (throatruiner - "Arisen in 2011 from the fertile scene of Montpellier, France, VERDUN made a name in the realm of slow and heavy music on the basis of a simple three-tracks demo, leaving a strong impression on every witness of the band’s thunderous live shows. With a line-up solidified after a few european tours and opening slots for forefathers such as Electric Wizard, Eyehategod or YOB, the band finally delivers their long-awaited debut album, mixed and mastered by Tad Doyle. «The Eternal Drift’s Canticles» is the fruit of three years of crafting; far from simple amp-worship, the band excels at creating memorable tracks with their science of instant-classic riffs. A richer background emanate from these guitars, able to tint their sludge/doom roots with metallic hardcore toughness or burden-of-the-world melodies. Another strong component of VERDUN’s trademark sound comes from these charismatic vocals, switching between echoed screams from outer space, spoken words or mournful clean vocals. With an arid, heavy as hell sound, «The Eternal Drift’s Canticles» is a 55-minutes dark and painful procession that transcends the heritage of too-often codified scenes, running away from simply rehashing the past.") 18.00

ZAHGURIM - Moral Rearmament LP (mannquien - Early pioneers of the UK industrial music scene, Zahgurim were formed in 1983 by Paul Ackerley and William Vince and were associated with the iconic Temple Ov Psychick Youth (TOPY). Recorded on October 24th and 25th, 1984 Moral Rearmament was the first and subsequently only vinyl release by the group, and was released on the same year by the legendary Berlinese record label Atonal Records. The album was produced and mixed by Paul Ackerley and William Vince with Simon Crabtree and Julian Gilbert (both of Bourbonese Qualk) at The Old Ambulance Station, Old Kent Road, London on October 24 and 25 1984. Zahgurim were in fact invited by Konnex Records Producer, Manfred Schiek to record an album for his recently launched sub-label, Berlin Atonal, and by Berlin Atonal Festival founder Dimitri Hegemann [aka Leningrad], to perform at his pioneering sonic art event alongside Test Dept. Laibach, Club Moral and others. Moral Rearmament became Berlin Atonal’s fifth release [ST 3005], the label having launched with two live recordings by Psychic TV. This new and first vinyl repress celebrates the 30th anniversary of a classic Industrial album, and includes 2 bonus tracks ‘Dog Unit’ and ‘Presence’ never released on vinyl before and created to mark the occasion of this release. For fans of Bourbonese Qualk, Psychic TV, Test Dept., Z'ev.) 17.00

V/A - Cease & Desist: DIY Cult Classics from the Post-Punk Era (1978-1982) 2xLP (optimu . restock - "If Punk was the nuclear detonation, the fallout that came after was where a lot of the most interesting music of that era was made. People who would never have thought to release a record before realised it was something they could do, and the end result was a DIY explosion. I've always loved music that doesn't try to fit in a particular genre, that is anti-canonical and doesn't care what else is going on in music at that time, that takes risks and is full of imagination and ideas that may or may not make any logical sense but that resulted in something unique, that ignores conventions about how a record should be produced and that was created simply because its creators felt the urge to express themselves and share the results with some other people. This compilation compiles 15 tracks that fulfil all those criteria. None of them had any success, most are (unjustly) obscure but every one of them has inspired me and would be in my ultimate 7" singles box" – JD Twitch. This release has been a real labor of love, involving tracing long-lost artists to far-flung corners of the globe, persuading them that the modern world needs to hear the music they made several decades ago, tracking down masters -- lovingly restoring 7"s in place of lost masters in some cases -- and conceiving an elaborate package with detailed sleeve notes to house the double album. Unfortunately, the original choice of title for this release infringed on the copyright of a series of well-known pop compilations released by a certain major label. They sent a cease and desist letter (hence the title of this edition), and did not accept proposed modifications to the original sleeves, so this edition is released in a more conventional package than was intended. Gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves containing sleeve notes and detailed overviews of each individual track by JD Twitch and an introduction by New York's DIY expert Dan Selzer. Includes tracks by Tesco Bombers, Sara Goes Pop, People in Motion, Nancy Sesay & the Melodaires, The Distributors, Dorothy, Thomas Leer, Visitors, The Murphy Federation, The Cro-Tones, Fatal Microbes, Spunky Onions, The Fakes, and The Prats.) 25.00

MARISA ANDERSON - Golden Hour / Mercury TAPE (mississippi - Marisa Anderson's first two Mississippi LP's reissued on one cassette! Golden Hour is Marisa's first record recorded for Mississippi. Marisa has been a fixture on many a music scene for years and years, playing with everyone from the Evolutionary Jass Band to Tara Jane O'Neil to The Dolly Ranchers. In any context, she can't escape her rag/blues/folk roots, no matter how hard she tries. On this LP featuring only guitar, no vocals, no overdubs, we are treated to a very intimate-sounding home recording filled with delicate grace. Comparisons to John Fahey and his ilk are bound to occur, but won't be the last words. Mercury is Portland guitar virtuoso Marisa Anderson's second set of home recorded instrumentals. This time around we find Marisa exploring structures more based on the Apallacian folk tradition. The bluesy cadences of Marisa's other Mississippi release - Golden Hour - are still there but more in an emotional sense than a structural. It's rare to find a record that has just one instrument with no vocals that can achieve real emotional communication - but here 'tis. Marisa thoughtfully composed & recorded this LP over the course of the last two years. It was worth the wait. A contemporary record that can hold its own against the various re-issued folk music on our label. ) 7.00

Artists featured are The Blue Rondos, The Blue Men, Jason Eddie and the Centremen, The Sound Offs, The Moontrekkers, Johnny Leyton, The Cryin' Shames, Mike Berry, The Outlaws, Chick Lewis, Glenda Collins and even Joe himself warbling out a tune. ) 7.00

V/A - Six Feet Under / Anxious Color TAPE (Here we have a cassette featuring two beloved Mississippi titles. Side A is 'Six Feet Under', a compilation of unbelievable rockabilly, country & early rock instrumentals. All obscure & hard to find & not a loser in the bunch. A mind blower for fans of the Cramps, Lee Hazelwood, real deal rock n' roll & out there country. Side B is 'Anxious Color', an amazing compilation of basement and garage dwelling stranger than fiction psych rock recorded between 1966 and 1967. The real underground sound of the 1960's as you've probably never heard it before. People making music by their own rules and influenced more by the spirit realm and the heavy weight of being alive than the pedestrian drug experiences that informed much of the 60's popular music. A bit dark and a bit intense and a bit lo-fi but such is life. Trust us when we say this one is essential. .) 7.00

DNA - You & You 7" (superior – Recorded in May 1978, a few weeks before DNA entered the studio with Brian Eno for the essential No New York sessions, You & You is this legendary No Wave trio's sole single and features original lineup with Arto Lindsay (guitar/vocals), Robin Crutchfield (keyboards) and Ikue Mori (drums). This first-time vinyl reissue comes with original sleeve design. Limited edition clear vinyl.) 10.00

DRIVE LIKE JEHU - Bullet Train To Vegas 7" (merge - DRIVE LIKE JEHU's sole 7-inch “Bullet Train to Vegas” b/w “Hand Over Fist” will be back in print on Merge on June 3, 2016. Originally released in 1992, its songs display a harnessing of powers first introduced on their self-titled record from the previous year and later fully realized on their final album, 1994’s Yank Crime. While recording “Bullet Train to Vegas” on the UCSD campus (drummer/producer MARK TROMBINO “borrowed” mics and cables from the theatre department next door), guitarist JOHN REIS felt the urge to pick up a trash can and chuck it across the room. It’s the crash that you hear just as Trombino and bassist MIKE KENNEDY engage, and you may feel a similar urge to do the same while listening to its unrelenting rhythms. “Hand Over Fist” slows things down slightly but by no means muffles the quartet’s ferocity or RICK FROBERG's trademark howl.) 7.00

HEAVY TIMES - Black Sunglasses 7" (hozac - Those irresistible misanthropes are finally back with a new record after a year of lineup changes (4 different bass players on this 4 song EP) and strife, and those impressive new songs are ready to saw you in half. The A-side bolts forward like a pair of metronomic 70s Italian electro-punk anthems that skipped through time, complete with icy KORG patterns interwoven with sinister simplicity that’s almost too much to handle. The sheer brevity of craft here is in high form, like a knife made of ice or an invisible noose around your neck, it’s all downhill UNLESS you see their way. This is gutter-level pop for nobodies that want everything, and it’s about time these tracks were allowed to sizzle like this, as Heavy Times have evolved yet again and you’re gonna love every minute of it. The B-side unplugs the synthesizer and takes a turn back toward their signature “criminal pop” side that we love so much, conjuring up feelings of running for your life from the cops (and outrunning them) as well as some slick & melancholic Thin Lizzyisms that are just what your lonely heart needs tonight. So have no fear, Heavy Times are still throbbing along better than ever, lurking in the shadows, trying hard to not to act like they’re the best band in Chicago. First pressing of 500 copies.) 6.50

KING KHAN - Children Of The World / Gone Are The Times 7" (merge - KING KHAN return with a limited-edition 7-inch featuring two new songs: “Children of the World” b/w “Gone Are the Times.” The songs were inspired by the story of The Invaders, a militant civil rightsgroup from Memphis, Tennessee. An eponymous documentary about the group will be released this spring. John B. Smith, founder and leader of The Invaders, invited King Khan & the Shrines to provide the soundtrack to their story. “King Khan is a fiery arrow shot into the night sky which no one knows how high or far it will travel. However, we do know that as that arrow streaks across the heavens, its flames will light up dark places along the way,” wrote Smith. “King Khan’s music can become the voice of many around the world, some of whom have never been heard from before.”) 7.00

MADE IN JAPAN - Instant Hit 7" (hozac - By now you probably know that we’re pretty big B-movie fans here at HoZac, and any time there’s ever a band performing in one of these films, it never fails to send those jolts of curiosity, as was pretty much the case with the classic 1980 horror film, New Year’s Evil. After we got the Archival leg of our operation underway, it was prime time to dig in and try and see if these near-mythical bands had any unreleased material, and sure enough, MADE IN JAPAN bit on the line and after a few email exchanges, we had a grip of unreleased 1979 material from one of Los Angeles’ unsigned bands of the first wave of punk on our hands. The Made in Japan story starts a little earlier than their appearance in the film though, as original bassist BOBBY ASEA was in CYCLOPS, the band that opened for The Damned on their first US tour in LA in 1977, DAVE CODLING (aka MAHA DEV) was originally from the early 70s UK psych rock band QUINTESSENCE, and BARRY PAUL from SAVOY BROWN, as well as HEAVY METAL KIDS, so they truly had quite the offbeat pedigree. In late 70s LA, punk and new wave were inescapable so the melting pot runneth over with all types of rock’n roll remnants scattering about to form bands, and Made In Japan fit the mold quite well, despite sadly never acquiring a record deal at the time. First pressing of 500 copies) 8.00

SPRAY PAINT - Bogans And Hoons 7" (goner - Teaser 7-inch EP from Austin's best band. Feel the clamps, motherfuckers! Features four tracks—"Shit Me To Tears," "Bogans," "Heavy Loiter," and "Screwed Batsman"—none of which appear on their brand new Feel The Clamps full-length.) 6.00

ALARIC - End Of Mirrors LP (neurot - End of Mirrors is the new album from Oakland’s Alaric. Operating at height of their powers, the quartet delivers a claustrophobic, gloomy, epically grandiose work. Shane Baker’s lyrics are deeply personal and universal in scope. They reflect hard times in a fallen world at a time of monumental change in the lives of the band members. These are emotional and deeply physical journeys; inky, blackened stuff, but not without a glint of hope. It could be moonlight shining through a crack in the wall or maybe just a sickly glow visible out of the corner of one’s eye. Jason Willer pummels the drums, driving forward with power and finesse, and then dropping down into a roiling boil of tribal toms. Bassist Rick Jacobus’s woozy but solid lines carry the melody while filling out the sonic space with riding drone notes. “I am going for a ‘sheets of electric rain’ guitar sound,” says guitarist Russ Kent, a master of his craft. He creates scintillating, cascading moments of beauty that open into crushing and aggressive distortion. As with their previous efforts, the new LP was recorded and mixed by Skot Brown at his Kempton House studios. Brown’s contributions have been crucial to realizing the vision of the band, expanding on its creepy and complex soundscapes while giving the songs a chance to breathe and shine with exceptional clarity. The band also enlisted the sound artist and experimental electronic musician Thomas Dimuzio to contribute his unique atmospheric investigations to End of Mirrors. Dimuzio employs a Buchla Polyphonic radio tuner, modular analog synthesizers and non-traditional methods. Make no mistake, this is not passive listening. These are instant classics for a new dark age.) 18.00

ANGRY ANGELS - same LP (goner - This 17-song collection comprises the complete studio recordings (including five unreleased tracks) of Angry Angles, the Jay “Reatard” Lindsey and Alix Brown project that came together shortly after the mid-2005 demise of the former’s long-running primary endeavor, The Lost Sounds. The sheer immensity of Lindsey’s musical discography relative to the artist’s demise in January of 2010 at the age of 29 is an undeniably impressive attribute of his legacy. But unlike other artists with massively prolific output, Lindsey’s militantly self-imposed standard of quality control assured this project was not simply a prolonged demo or practice session for what came next—his landmark solo debut Blood Visions. Sure, extraneous live documents reveal a handful of set items that turned up on that album, and there’s more than a passing riff among the songs collected here that did the same. Ms. Brown herself even appeared on that album’s “I See You Standing There” and “We Who Wait.” But Blood Visions didn’t really “come next” at all. Angry Angles’ musical demise, at some point during the latter half of 2006, was a direct result of Brown and Lindsey’s demise romantically. In fact, the release of Blood Visions in October of 2006 was to be followed closely by a proper studio full-length by Angry Angles, with the latter receiving heavier promotion.) 17.00

BAD NEWS - no end LP (SARAH BERNAT and ALEX LUKAS weld industrial hymns out of gritted synth tones, mutilated samples, darkly protracted guitars, icy vocal delivery and swollen frequencies. The two have an affinity for hardware, dead-panned vox and loaded, unpredictable live performances, and BAD NEWS reveals a penchant for unsavory frequencies, achieved with artful brutality and control of their uniquely industrial sound. Edition of 250 copies) 18.00

B/B/S - Palace DLP (miasmah - One of the most amazing things about the group B/B/S/ is that even though it does sound like the logical sum of its parts, listening to their output is like devoting yourself to an emotional haze of interaction. All based on improvisations recorded within two sessions at Golden Retriever Studios in Berlin, the ten new tracks, spanning almost 80 minutes total, are so fluid and natural that they abandon separating the musicians' individual contribution for a soundscape that is overwhelming in the best possible way. However, the place B/B/S/ puts you in is not a gleaming one: It could be imagined as an empty room with just a chair to sit on to be surrounded and pervaded by flickering guitars, effects and drums – a scenery that is as murky as it is gripping and best digested without further distraction. Making you feel comfortable might not be their main intention but Aidan Baker, Andrea Belfi and Erik Skodvin know all the tricks to turn this into an exciting atmospheric experience with plenty of vigour and hope shining through the duskiness. Their second album for Miasmah masters in tension that is building up like a blueprint, maybe starting in one room but revealing many doors, corridors and passages to explore. There are no dead ends in their Palace: It’s a dark territory and sparse in light but each turn is a success and each glance a revelation.) 25.00

BELIEVER / LAW - Matters Of Life And Death LP (The roots of this aggressive, rhythmic electro-industrial outfit based in New York City begin with DIY punk, but their harsh, driving dance sensibilities recall the likes of early Skinny Puppy or Front 242. Featuring members of KAMA RUPA, CULT OF YOUTH and MISSING FOUNDATION, Matters Of Life And Death’s themes put subjects such as addiction and mental illness at the forefront of many of these songs, and aspire to transition, growth, compassion, hope and love. Edition of 300 copies.) 18.00

BODY SCULPTURES - a body turns to eden LP (posh isolation - The formative element is the collaborative pact between Sweden's Northern Electronics and Denmark's Posh Isolation. The aesthetic singularity of the project is owed to the distinguished backgrounds of the five contributing artists. Each perspective entails a varying set of working methods and sonic preferences, though it is the sensitivity with which the diversity of these practices are framed in Body Sculptures that assures the project its own space. Jonas Rönnberg is the co-owner of Northern Electronics and is involved in the projects Ulwhednar (with Abdulla Rashim) and Dard Å Ranj Från Det Hebbershålska Samfundet. Erik Enocksson is a highly regarded Swedish composer who has scored countless independent productions. Frederikke Hoffmeier's industrial and experimental project Puce Mary has been the subject of much veneration in recent years. Ossian Ohlsson is from the industrial outfit Vit Fana. Loke Rahbek is the co-founder of Posh Isolation and a member of Damien Dubrovnik and Lust For Youth. The combinations of acoustic and electronic instrumentation, the soiled traces of genre, and the mixed modes of experimentation, are here pitched as an eternal requiem, letting the play between the project's orthodox and unorthodox methods reflect a sharp fatalism.) 21.00

COUGH - still they pray DLP (relapse - COUGH return with their first album in over five years. Produced by Electric Wizard’s Jus Oborn and recorded by Oborn and Windhand’s Garrett Morris, 'Still They Pray' is the kind of monolithic cosmic doom that will take the listener to the heights of despair and the bottom of the abyss. With 'Still They Pray', COUGH summon psychedelic feedback-driven melodies just to deconstruct them to their core. This is easily COUGH at their most focused: pessimistic riffs and tortured grooves collide in melodic agony alongside a hallucinogenic blend of harsh and clean incantations, crushing and cathartic yet utterly mesmerizing. Step through the gates of madness and stare into the void.) 28.00

DÄLEK- Asphalt For Eden LP (prfound lore - Conceived in New Jersey’s then-emerging DIY scene of the late 1990s, cult hip-hop act Dälek pioneered an intriguing fusion of progressive lyrical prowess and sonic experimentation. With unique dark ambient / rhythmic noise elements, the trio was described as a mix of Public Enemy and My Bloody Valentine. Their singular sound was documented on four milestone albums released on Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings imprint, alongside live actions supporting the likes of Tool and Melvins and collaborative works with artists such as Faust, before the group ceased regular activities in 2011. In the spring of 2015, mastermind MC Dälek (a.k.a. Will Brooks) revived the project with the blessing of ex-member / co-producer Oktopus. Featuring new members DJ rEk and Mike Swarmbots, Dälek presents their newest release and first proper full-length since 2009’s Gutter Tactics. A formidable display of true hip hop artistry, Asphalt for Eden is a creative peak for the forward-thinking trio and will generate renewed interest in their iconoclastic sound. Expect rigorous touring when the album drops.) 22.00

FOSTER CARE - Sterilization LP (total punl - It’s been almost four years since New York’s FOSTER CARE put out their debut album Bad Vibe City and we’ve been anxiously awaiting a follow up. Well the wait is finally over. Foster Care is back with another banger of an LP and it’s gonna knock you out. In their downtime the guys did more than terrorize the neighborhood bars. They’ve been sharpening their knives and waiting for the right time to pounce. Well apparently that time is now and this record is razor sharp and heading straight for the throat. Every bit as punchy as the first but more dialed in. The hooks are bigger, the guitars are meaner, and CHRIS TEENAGER sounds as vicious as ever. 24 minutes fist pumping, head rattling, negative punk perfection for 2016. 100% TOTAL PUNK! Edition of 500 copies.) 16.00

GRAVE MIASMA - Endless Pilgrimage LP (prfound lore – Since the heralded 2013 release of their debut full-length Odori Sepulcrorum, England’s Grave Miasma has risen to the upper echelons of the true underground movement of the present day. Originating a dark, atmospheric, prog-infused style, they are one of death metal’s most creative entities. Their new mini-album Endless Pilgrimage—recorded, mixed and mastered solely via analog methods, capturing that ancient death metal vibe—is a five-track, 35-minute journey depicting spiritual death throughout the ages. The album includes a reprisal of “Glorification of the Impure,” a song from the band’s Goat Mölestor demo days. More otherworldly, more progressive, more challenging, Grave Miasma continues to explore their creative impulses, and Endless Pilgrimage is another treasure of true death metal that embodies an unparalleled vision within the genre.) 25.00

HEMELBESTORMER - portals LP (The power of Hemelbestormer is still massive on this two-track album. From the very beginning of 'Portal to the Universe' to the final sound of 'Portal III', this quartet grabs the listener's attention in a severe deathlock and drags him down into a continuous vortex of guitars, drums and soundscapes. Monolithic riffs and haunting layers of sound alternate with soothing passages before the whole rages on again with sheer ferocity and gigantic wall-of-sound. It's obvious that these are experienced musicians, having earned their stripes with bands like Death Penalty, Serpentcult and Gorath. If you're a fan of sludge, post-metal or doom, this definitely is something to get your hands on. With this record, Hemelbestormer confirms their rightful spot between Belgium's most praised bands, such as AmenRa, The Black Heart Rebellion and Sardonis, to name a few. (merchants of air)) 14.00

ILIAN - Love Me Crazy LP (antholgy - LEON NAHAT sat on a pier at Hermosa Beach with his guitar and noted how each wave was different. He saw birds fly above and got a feeling. He went right to a recording studio and put “Saturday Song” down in one take, a touchstone of the sole 1977 album Love Me Crazy by ILIAN. However, getting “the feeling” is perhaps the easy part, presenting it in a contagious way is where the talent comes in. Ilian (Nahat’s nickname) put together his first rock band, FAT DADDY PUCK, in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan while he was still a teenager, circa 1970. Along with Doug Brown, Steve Marston, and Tom Fine, the band quickly built a local following playing all original material. When Ilian turned 18 years old, the band moved to Phoenix, Arizona and soon were among the most popular live acts in town. Their next move was to Colorado where Tommy Bolin of the hard rock band Zephyr caught a show and flipped. Tommy became a good friend of the band and partying buddy. Anybody can throw a bunch of licks at your face. Communicating, telling the story is where it’s at. Ilian was influenced heavily by the concise, innovative guitar moves on the ’60s Yardbirds classics. Every note speaks, adds to the story the song is laying out. You can hear that in both his guitar tracks and the arrangements of his songs on Love Me Crazy. Not one dicey or stale move allowed, no horses beaten to death in pursuit of pop perfection. He moves fast and if it doesn’t happen, he moves on to the next one. Brings ’em back alive. The songs of Love Me Crazy LP were recorded at different times in different studios. They hang together so well because Illian moved fast and with his virtuosic guitar-playing guiding the way. His music sounds fresh and timeless today because the songs were captured quickly before the magic of inspiration faded.) 25.00

KAMA RUPA – sistinas sangius LP (ERIK PROFT (BELIEVER/LAW) and MATT KNOEDELSEDER's industrial sound and ritual unit. Their sound is brutal and animalistic, but also ethereal, a miasma creeping down from the astral plane and into the back walls of consciousness. Named after the ghost of a person’s most animalistic desires (an intermediate “spook” stage between physical death and the afterlife), KAMA RUPA tie together threads of industrial, noise, EBM, and dark ambient into a dense knot that is satisfying to unravel. Pressed on one-sided 180-gram vinyl. Edition of 260 copies. Includes download card.) 18.00

KIKAGAKU MOYO - House In The Tall Grass LP (guru - KIKAGAKU MOYO call their sound "psychedelic" because it encompasses a broad spectrum of influence: classical Indian music, Krautrock, traditional folks, and '70s rock. House In The Tall Grass features a more refined Kikagaku Moyo—soft vocals, warm Sitar, and the masterful balance between loud and soft and chaos and order, taking the listener on an unexpected psychedelic journey, where their traveling songs blend the interplay of the guitars, sitars, and voices suspended beyond belief.) 24.00

KYLE FORESTER - same LP (amd - As a member of CRYSTAL STILTS and LADYBUG TRANSISTOR and all-purpose sideman for too many others to mention, KYLE FORESTER has appeared on dozens of recordings and played countless shows. His solo debut presents 12 headily crafted AM gold heart-pop tunes that leave you both swimming & simmering. “Like Deerhunter by way of Real Estate, matching acoustic finger-plucking with swelling head-trip synths as he sends a string of romantic reflections pinging through the echo chamber.”—Stereogum. Limited edition vinyl-only release with download and limited Risograph print insert by KEEGAN COOKE / Circadian Press.) 20.00

MATS GUSTAFSSON - piano mating LP (They sound like two holes puncturing the fabric of reality - holes that disobey time and space; black holes then, where you can poke your head through and see what is really going on behind the curtain. The two side-long pieces of Piano Mating by Mats Gustafsson are incredibly pure, simple-sounding and slowly-ascending drones that feel convincingly like tractor beams for the soul. Is this spiritual music for heathens? It happened because we asked Mats to compose an album using an instrument he'd never recorded with before. He came back with one of the most bizarre pieces of kit ever - the Dubreq Pianomate. A deliciously odd device from the manufacturers of the Stylophone, which turns your nan's living room piano into, well, a giant Stylophone! Mats doesn't hook his up to a piano though. Instead he manipulates the machine on its own to wring out these strange, expressive sonic prayers.) 30.00

MRS MAGICIAN - Bermuda LP (swami - Bermuda is the latest effort by San Diego’s dismal-pop outfit Mrs. Magician and their second full-length release on Swami Records The album offers a concise collection of punk songs inspired by the big sounds of classic ’60s pop and rock ’n’ roll, with structures more associated with ’70s and ’80s power pop. Thomas Garcia’s blissed-out backwash guitar tones and fuck-it fuzz attack juxtapose the band’s dry and thudding foundation, creating a tropically depressed grog. Cutting through the lacquer with a glossy shimmer, producer Swami John Reis (Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes) coaxes a tightly wound, rigid backdrop for vocalist Jacob Turnbloom’s morose-pop delivery. Lyrically far more non-linear than their 2012 debut album Strange Heaven, Bermuda echoes the familiar self-deprecating humor that is heavily present in the band’s prior work, but focuses less on interpersonal relationships, favoring broader inspirations of alienation and melodrama. Themes of gentrification, addiction, religion and the intoxicating aroma of modern day conspiracy theories wrestle against a bright and tight sonic terrain. This is the ghetto of Kokomo. Bermuda has a boozy and breezy island malaise on the surface. But once submerged, the listener is exposed to confusion, nihilism and the notion that even with all of our technology and omnipresence of big brother, essentially we are all still very lost.) 17.00

MYSTERY PLANE - still life LP (color tapes – MYSTERY PLANE formed in 1980 from the ashes of '70s new wave band 3D5 who's line-up also featured future CURE member PORI THOMPSON. This record was originally a demo cassette made in 1981 that was hawked around record labels with a view for release. Later Color Tapes released a 100 copies edition. To support their demo at the time the band played such gigs at the Marquee, Rock Garden and The Bridgehouse supporting bands such as Fad Gadget, Modern English and Henry Padovani (Ex-Police) in London. This sublime minimal basement krauty synth LP was inspired by bands such as Neu, Amon Duul ll, and Vienna period Ultravox. The album features guitar work of GERALD O'CONNELL who was a big fan of Ash Ra Tempel's guitarist Manuel Gottsching. A year later he went on to form LIVES OF ANGELS who made the classic cold wave album Elevator To Eden which was originally released on Color Tapes in 1983. Mystery Plane have been featured on the sold out Cold Waves Of Color compilation series. The album has been remastered by DENIS BLACKHAM and comes complete with a poster insert.) 22.00

NGOZI FAMILY - day of judgement LP (bow again - We’ve been talking about an anthology centered around Zambian guitarist/vocalist Paul Ngozi for a while now. And – while we’re not there just yet, we’re announcing the issue of his masterwork. His debut album – issued under the name Ngozi Family – is important record: not just in the Zamrock genre, but in the global rock canon. Day of Judgement is an introduction to the most intense, raw and inimitable golden era Zamrock recorded, as it paved the way for a dozen Paul Ngozi and Ngozi Family releases (the most famous being drummer Chrissy Zebby Tembo’s My Ancestors) that straddled the line between funk and punk, of driving hard rock and Zambian folk melodies and rhythms. Day of Judgement was released in 1976, the same year as other, now famous, Zamrock albums, from WITCH’s Lazy Bones!!to Rikki Ililonga’s Zambia to Musi-O-Tunya’s Give Love To Your Children, all reissued on Now-Again. But Day of Judgement sounds like none of its counterparts. Part of that stems from its frenzied primitivism, the Ngozi Family’s attempt to overcome a lack of musical acumen with sheer force of will. That will allowed Paul Ngozi to overcome a humble upbringing to become the most unlikely combination: Zamrock’s most beloved star in its brief but now-well chronicled arc; the only musician to maintain his fame and recording prowess in the dark ages of the ’80s; an inspiration to not only aging but young Zambians — and now others, beyond Zambia’s borders. But one cannot imagine Paul Ngozi without this album, a full-on aural assault that sounds as wild nearly forty years after its release as it must have sounded in the developing Zamrock landscape from which it emerged. We listen to this anachronistic yet prescient album now as a wholly original, completely unpredictable album in line with those from mavericks from across the world – from the Ramones to the Sex Pistols to Death. And, though it’s been over two decades since Paul Ngozi’s passing, his voice and vision still seem exciting, powerful, unique, unvarnished, new.) 25.00

PG.LOST - key DLP (pg.lost is a Swedish band of many directions. Their sound is throbbing with great melancholy, but there is also a healthy dose of dirty, crushing rock n’ roll in it — something you will be hard-pressed to find in the ever-growing mass of typical post rock pabulum. With their 3rd studio album „Key“; originall released in 2012, pg.lost have delivered their stongest album to date, moving further into their own sonic territory. A beefy distortion runs through „Key“ on a whim, but the most enriching stages of the album occur once the dredges of distortion succumb to the cleaner aspect withinpg.lost’s instrumentation. The highs on “Key” are grander than ever before, the lows more steeped in contemplation, and the listener is kept always on the edge, knowing that just around the corner could be lurking another maelstrom of destruction: “Sheaves” is fierce but smart, and “Weaver” finishes the album with twenty minutes of extremely powerful, beautiful and sensitive music.) 25.00

PG.LOST - in never out DLP (pg.lost is a Swedish band of many directions. Their sound is throbbing with great melancholy, but there is also a healthy dose of dirty, crushing rock n’ roll in it — something you will be hard-pressed to find in the ever-growing mass of typical post rock pabulum. With their 2nd studio album „In Never Out; originall released in 2009, pg.lost create a dark and vast sonic unique universe of their own. What makes the band so enthralling is that they couldn’t care less about making any part of their music pretty – and yet at the same time, „In Never Out“ as a whole oozes beauty. From the minimalist start of opener „Prahanien“ to the dying last seconds of the album, pg.lost craft sweeping, melancholic soundscapes that attract, surround, and finally haunt the listener hours after the album is finished. They sound more restrained, with no over-playing or useless repetitions on display. Everything is done to serve the purpose of each track individually, and the album as a whole.) 25.00

PUBERTY – same LP (born bad - PUBERTY is initiated by hormonal signals from the brain to the gonads. Puberty (the band, the lifestyle, the etc.), though, belongs entirely to SUSANNA WELBOURNE and LARS FINBERG. The band was hatched during a pocket of uncertainty, a time when signals seemed to point toward the half-promised oblivion of this duo's day-job in THE INTELLIGENCE. During these uncertain 2010 evenings, the tag team launched Trainwreck, a monthly musical happening held at Seattle's deepest, dankest karaoke dive, the Orient Express. Dance, dress-up (drag?), and debauchery were of principal concern, with a soundtrack tailored to exalt such values. The Intelligence's assumed influences were swiftly replaced in Puberty by (as confirmed by Finberg) Trainwreck playlist regulars like U-Roy, Tones On Tail, Fun Boy Three, prime sleaze Roxy Music, and other grandiose splatterings. This was to be the inverse of what the duo had been doing musically in terms of mood and motivation. The Intelligence's airtight guitar jerking delivered with (ahem) casual professionalism was to be largely displaced by big-band arrangements with wildly unexpected turns, delivered via eccentric theatrics and playing upon classically sexual, sultry, and moody rock 'n' roll with odd atmospherics. Plus pink outfits. Puberty is the process of physical changes through which a child's body matures into an adult body capable of sexual reproduction. A 2011 single appeared quickly via Canadian label Telephone Explosion, though Puberty's message was only briefly paraded before The Intelligence's domination program resumed. More weird hairs started to grow by mid-2015, though, as Finberg and Welbourne resurrected Puberty for a truly wholly album, assembling a wide array of co-conspirators both new and familiar. Perhaps most surprising is that neither plays a single note on the resultant recordings, offering only their vocals (which interplay wonderfully) and songwriting, allowing the band to, as Finberg puts it, "sound like itself." That self ends up being a mad provocateur. The album begins with beautiful orchestral fluttering ("Uptown") and concludes with very loud resolve ("Downtown"), tones that bookend a collection of superbly spacious songs that blast through expectation. "Parties" is both awkward and the gospel truth, built upon a simple riff that only occasionally visits the circus. "Nature Calls" boasts a blast of guitar that's so ridiculously jarring that an advisory should be present. That solo on "Skeletons"?!?!? Hear it, then die knowing you lived a life of true value. "Moonlight" is slinkingly cinematic and impossible to shake.) 18.00

PURE HELL - Noise Addiction LP (cherry red - Beat Generation presents a reissue of PURE HELL sole full-length album, recorded in 1978 but not released until 2006. In 1974, on the streets of Philadelphia, a band unlike any other was formed. They called themselves Pretty Poison. They had a sound so ahead of its time that the music industry was not yet ready for it. They coupled the punk sound of the New York bands of the time with a harder, faster heavy metal edge unheard before. Their unique sound was a result of KENNY GORDON's berserk choreography and PRESTON MORRIS' needling guitar riffs, while STEEL and SPIDER added synchronized barrage with no nonsense execution to the arsenal. Inspired by the famous fuel-altered dragster, they changed their name to Pure Hell in 1975. Soon after, they moved to New York City where they played with bands like the New York Dolls, Sid Vicious, Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, The Dead Boys, The Stimulators, Richard Hell, The Germs, The Nuns, The Cramps and more. In 1978 Pure Hell headlined a tour of the UK, with bands like the UK Subs, Wilko Johnson, Vermilion & the Aces and more opening for them. While in the UK, their only original record was released. It was a single released by their manager Curtis Knight on his label, Golden Sphinx Records. The songs on the single were "These Boots Were Made for Walking" and "No Rules." The single charted in the top 40 charts in the UK. During the same year, a full length album was recorded but was never released. It did not surface again for 28 years. Limited edition of 500 copies.) 21.00

ROSALI - out of love LP (siltbreeze – The stunning debut LP from Philadelphia-based artist Rosali Middleman, Out of Love is hard to pin down. It rolls like an omnipotent fog through the canyons of Topanga, smothering the once-bohemian enclaves of East / West Village NYC, all the while blinding every vibrant peak ’n’ hollow from the Ozarks to the Appalachian Mountains. The guitars are sublime, with occasional flickers of higher-key psychedelia punctuating the breathless, reflective cadence that is Rosali’s transcendent delivery. While drawn from personal catharsis, Out of Love achieves that uncanny ability to speak to us all. It’s LZ IV, stripped of its pomp and circumstance. This time it’s more about the triangle / pyramid symbol found on the inner sleeve than the man with the bundle of sticks on the cover. And if you know what I’m talking about, then twist ’em up, ’cause summer ’16 is the year Out of Love takes on a whole lotta love. Rosali has shared the stage with Meg Baird, Kurt Vile, Mary Lattimore, Purling Hiss, as well as many other local luminaries. Look for her on the nation front throughout this year.) 18.00

SECOND WOMAN - same DLP (editions mego - Second Woman is a new collaborative project featuring Turk Dietrich of Belong and Joshua Eustis of the renowned Telefon Tel Aviv. As one would imagine, Second Woman is a nonpareil debut of futuristic electronic music fusing the coveted genetics of the duos respective previous endeavors into an alluring new enigma of ASMR-inducing kaleidoscopic dub. Second Woman is a fully realized entity; a well-crafted sound world and a refreshing shared effort which is inspiring in its purity and painstaking in its design. The opening "100407jd7" wastes no time exhibiting mastery in both sound and structure, contorting the frequency spectrum into a psychoactive mirage with its mutating tectonics and vaporous tone clouds. Cuts like "200601je6" and "700358bc5" are bar-raising examples of veteran craftsmanship and vision, refining and reengineering the blue prints of their early works to create an original and dynamic album. The deliberation and control over every particle is obsessive, but the end results of each individual track unfold with an organic temperament unparalleled in a grid-locked world of DAW shaped musics and rat's-nest modular aleatory. Words fail where essential sonics are concerned, and this vital new creation speaks for itself.) 23.00

SKAPHE - Skaphe LP (fallen empire - The debut SKAPHE album of asphyxiating black metal from A.P. Originally released in 2014 on cassette and limited run vinyl.) 22.00

SKAPHE - Skaphe2 LP (fallen empire - Born as a new project from A.P. - SKÁPHE released an acclaimed, eponymous debut full-length of experimental black metal via Fallen Empire Records in 2014. Now turned into a duo thanks to the addition of amazing singer D.G. (from the Icelandic black metal rising stars MISBYRMING and NAORA), Skaphe return with their sophomore album Skáphe2 bringing with them an even more ominous and deadly sound. Supremely obscure, visionary and soaked in anguish, Skáphe2 can be described as a scaring mind-altering experience, a psychonautic voyage through innermost regions. A.P.'s cyclopian and chaotic black metal riffs, and D.G.'s imposing vocals trace cavernous melodies that are left to rot into a freezing, infinite vacuum of non-existence, while the thunderous bass and drums alternate funereal tempos with convulsed, frantic rhythms. Macabre, enigmatic and more structured than what could appear at first, Skaphe's music is like abstract darkness struggling to take shape. The oneiric and expanding sound abuses of echoes and low frequencies to resonate within the listener's subconscious, vibrating with deepest fears, creating new ones. The mesmerizing black/red cover art drawn by H.V LYNGDAL couldn't be more explicit: the eviscerated devil devouring a human being is the portrait of our own monstrous, Lovecraftian soul, spreading its tentacles over our mental sanity) 22.00

SPRAY PAINT - Feel The Clamps LP (goner - 2015’s quick succession of two full-length albums by Austin, TX, trio Spray Paint—Punters on a Barge in June on Australia’s Homeless Records followed by Dopers via Austin’s Monofonus Press—showed the band repeatedly visiting some proverbial “next level” relative to the steady developmental trajectory framed by their preceding 2012-2014 arrival-and-vision-quest phase (itself a three-album, three-7-inch chunk of catalog not appropriate for dismissal). At the risk of corniness in conveying the sterling truth, Feel the Clamps could be considered to represent drummer Chris Stephenson, guitarist Cory Plump and other guitarist George Dishner arriving at a “next level,” but next after what? They appear to have skipped a few.) 18.00

STEVE GUNN - eyes on the lines LP (matador - People have written about roads for as long as they’ve been around. And before there were roads, people still wrote about travel and about landscape. Roads are the stages upon which our greatest experiences and desires play out. Steve Gunn’s music has always embraced expanse and movement. Eyes on the Lines is his most explicit ode to the blissful uncertainty of adventure yet. His solo ventures, emerging over the past decade and culminating most recently the highly-acclaimed Way Out Weather, have been pastoral, evocative a airs. Here he embraces his urban surroundings through a series of songs that fully showcase his extraordinary ability to match hooks to deftly constructed melodies. These are songs you can take in quickly, but spend all the time in the world devouring. The very large and the very small are present in equal measure. The inability to categorize them within the avalanche of impotent diatribes that pass for categorizationis a testament to their power. And what a pleasure to have this music presented to the wider public. This is Steve Gunn’s Matador debut.) 25.00

STEVEN JESSE BERNSTEIN - I Am Secretly An Important Man LP + DVD (factory 25 - Movie + Soundtrack! 'I Am Secretly an Important Man' is a portrait of writer and poet Steven J. Bernstein (aka Jesse Bernstein), one of Seattle's most celebrated and troubled voices. His angry, surprisingly fresh and lyrical writings are about sensitive souls, drifters and drug addicts; the people alienated by a society that refuses to understand them. Bernstein peels back the ugliness and the darkness of life on the fringe to expose tender and not so tender human feeling. His unique rhythms, filled with humor and pain, were especially exciting when read in his own gravely voice. Bernstein was an integral part of the legendary Seattle rock scene of the late 80's and early 90s, and in 1991 was dubbed the "Godfather of Grunge" by the British magazine THE INDEPENDENT.) 30.00

SWEET VALLEY - so serene LP (ghost ramp - Sweet Valley is a Bermuda-Triangle-like place where cannabis crumbs, spilt beer, record dust and that mysterious shit you had to blow out of game cartridges all collect as if pulled by some gigantic junkyard magnet. It is a blood pact between two brothers, Nathan (of Wavves) and Kynan Williams gone awesomely off the rails. Welcome to Sweet Valley—hi. You can be sure of nothing here. So Serene is a single 27-minute track that shifts through ideas relatively quickly. There’s rarely a dull moment as this thing is packed with fascinating samples, video game sounds and synths aplenty.) 17.00
SYNTHETIC ID - Impulses LP (castle face - “Hermetically sealed punk broadcast from a bunker. This guitar is untying a knot of wires; vocals like watching a fight where two men exchange tit-for-tat face blows. Surgical drums; bass grown under glass. The occasional synthesizer like you didn’t know you were thirsty till water crossed your lips. Wound tight, lock-jawed; no rust on these gears. Chilly production crystallizes these post-apocalyptic poems from San Francisco.” —John Dwyer) 18.00

TWINKEYZ - alpha jerk LP (s-s From Sacramento via outer space comes The Twinkeyz and their Alpha Jerk LP, restored to excellence after 40 years. During the sizzling hot summer of 1976, Donnie Jupiter, Tom Darling and Walter Smith decided to break out of their boredom with a band. The group was named after Pink Fairies drummer Twink, and influnced by the Fairies, Velvet Underground, Thirteenth Floor Elevators and other underground favorites. In 1977, The Twinkeyz recorded and self-released their classic first single, “Aliens in Our Midst.” 1978 saw its followup, “E.S.P. / Cartoon Land.” And in 1979, the album Alpha Jerk was released on the Dutch label Plurex, run by Wally Van Middendorp of the Minny Pops. Though the songs on Alpha Jerk were great, the final mix was botched and the mastering job flawed. What should have been a classic stiffed as one of rock ’n’ roll’s “could have been great.” Now it is!In 1994, Anopheles Records’ Karl Ikola decided to do The Twinkeyz right. Ikola got ahold of the master tapes and, with Jupiter and Greg Freeman, remixed the entire album. In 1997, he released the restored Alpha Jerk, along with abandoned single tracks, live songs and other tidbits, as a CD entitled Aliens in Our Midst. The collection and its vinyl companion Cartoon Land went out of print more than fifteen years ago. Now after four decades, S-S Records presents Alpha Jerk as it was intended, with the original cover art and the superior Ikola / Jupiter mix. USELESS EATERS - Relaxing Death LP (castle face - Castle Face Records has got fresh new jitters from Useless Eaters: a new batch called Relaxing Death. Relaxing it is not—sleepless synths and serrated drum machine loops populate their sharp-edged, futuristic sound. Nightmare punks on a hallucinatory run through empty streets; angry and intense, tightly wound and razor sync’d. Up to no good. It knocks like it’s cut with something nasty, and it’s out June 3rd.) 17.00

V/A - Hardcore Matinee LP (swami - Hardcore Matinee is an ode to the budget, punk rock/hardcore compilations that proved to be informative in the early years of Swami Records head honcho, overlord, John Reis. Some of these budget, compilation LP’s were highly disposable, LP’s that shunned the concept of quality favoring instead the quantity of bands it included. 40, 50 sometimes up to 60 unknown groups were crammed onto these records that crackled and popped with tinny sound and infantile graphics. Over time, this cut-rate aesthetic actually weathered quite well. Call it nostalgia or perhaps it is a testament to how truly ugly the world has become, but some of these records can now be enjoyed as curious oddities of a bygone era. So, it was with this inspiration that Hardcore Matinee was assembled. Hardcore Matinee features 22 of San Diego’s most exciting groups and covers the wide range of current punk music. From well-established bands such as Hot Snakes (with their first new recording since 2004 and featuring both drummers on the same recording), Pinback (their final recording before disbanding and then reforming) and Gary Wilson (off his recent collaboration with The Roots) to up and coming bands Octagrape (ex-Truman’s Water), Death Eyes (Hardcore supergroup with ex- Rat’s Eyes and ex-Death Crisis) and Schizophonics, this record’s varied styling is a jarring ride. The Swami Records harem is represented by the reformation of The Sultans (first recording since 2003), Beehive and The Barracudas (first new recordings since 2008), Mrs. Magician (an outtake from their soon to be released second album Bermuda) and The Heartaches (first new recording since their Too Cool For School LP). Other artists include The Loons (featuring Mike Stax of Ugly Things), Rob Crow, Teenage Burritos (Burger Records), Plateaus (Art Fag Records), Creepy Creeps (Dionysus Records), The Widows (Route 44 Records), Ale Mania (Volar Records), Ghetto Blaster (ex- Fishwife and The Let Downs), WHA (ex-Tourettes Lautrec) The Shake Before Us and The Lumps (both on Tower Bar Records) and the debut of The Soaks. In order to vaguely adhere to the inspired aesthetic, it was important to keep the music fresh and moving quickly. All of the bands recorded new, unreleased material and attempted to keep their contribution as brief as possible. Hardcore Matinee showcases a cross section of some of Swami Records favorite, current San Diego noise and presents them in a blurred collection high on energy and momentum. The result is a record that plays as a whole and is greater than the sum of its parts. Another important component of this record is to contribute to keeping the spirit of regional punk rock compilations alive for future generations. As a result, proceeds from Hardcore Matinee will be donated to The Museum School in San Diego and be used exclusively for their music department. The Museum School is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students from all over San Diego in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Because I realize your time is valuable, for your convenience I am including a brief description of the specific, PUNK sub-genre of each track on the record.) 17.00

VIVIAN GOLDMAN - Resolutionary LP (staubgold - There’s a myth about music critics that says we are frustrated, wannabe performers. Evidence to the contrary: Vivien Goldman. Ever since she migrated from pitching editors on the little-known music of Robert Nesta Marley to becoming one of the foremost chroniclers of the perfect storm of reggae, punk, hiphop and Afro-Beat, the London-born, New York-based Goldman has made documenting music her primary life work. But between 1979-82, Goldman was also a working musician, creating songs that, years later, would be sampled by The Roots and Madlib. These rare girl grooves are now collected for the first time on Resolutionary, courtesy of Staubgold Records. Resolutionary takes us through Vivien’s first three musical formations: first as a member of experimental British New Wavers The Flying Lizards; next as a solo artist, with her single “Launderette,” featuring postpunk luminaries; and then as half of the Parisian duo Chantage, with Afro-Parisian chanteuse Eve Blouin. Goldman’s synthesis of post-colonial rhythms and experimental sounds are threaded together by her canary vocal tones and womanist themes. Her eclectic musical crew included PiL’s John Lydon, Keith Levene and Bruce Smith; avant- gardists Steve Beresford and David Toop; The Raincoats’ Vicky Aspinall; the mighty Robert Wyatt; Zaire’s Jerry Malekani; Manu Dibango’s guitarist; and Viv Albertine, then of her good friends, the Slits. The majority of the tracks were produced by dubmaster Adrian Sherwood, and Resolutionary channels the history of a time when the bon-vivant voice of music was in the air, and Vivien Goldman was its eyes, ears, and mouth.) 20.00

V/A - Household Shocks LP (dark entries - Dark Entries is proud to present Household Shocks, a 16-track compilation of UK DIY/Synth/New Wave/Post-Punk originally released in 1980. The album showcases 9 bands from the thriving post-punk scene in Scunthorpe and the North of England. Operating on a shoestring budget, co-producers CHRIS LEANING and PAUL SINGLETON (both of ONE GANG LOGIC), released Household Shocks on Stark Products, a label they founded in 1979. At almost 50 minutes of music, the album took four weeks to produce at the Studio Playground in Lincoln. It was supported heavily by the late Radio 1 DJ John Peel. In July 1980 Paul Singleton and Chris Leaning opened a record shop in Lincolnshire, England. It opened under the name “All Tomorrow’s Parties”, but later moved to the city center and was renamed “Parade.” Through their growing local music scene and the separation of economic classes, their shop became the hangout for the local punk movement. It was there that the idea for “Household Shocks”, a compilation of their friend’s bands, was born. THUNDERBOYS offer three punky pop blazers and feature Carmel McCourt who who subsequently achieved chart success with her band Carmel. PRODUCT OF REASON contribute three haunting synthesizer heavy numbers. SINKING SHIPS supply two tracks of off-kilter dubbed out angst ('Weight Loss' is the best Gang of Four song not by the Gang of Four). JUVENILES provide two power pop jams. MYSTERY GIRLS supply one track of quirky post-punk that recalls The Prats. DEFECTORS, a female fronted quartet featuring COUM Transmissions affiliate Tony Menzies, grant us one superb track of somber gothic new wave. FAULT 151 serve a slice of wistful Flying Nun-esque indie pop featuring a 14-year old bassist. URBANTECH, a short-lived synth-punk outfit, deliver one delirious track. ONE GANG LOGIC contribute two metallic synthesizer drenched pieces and close the album with a somber atmosphere. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in replica of Chris Leaning's original jacket design, which features a black and white photograph of a doll shocked by a vacuum cleaner. Each LP includes a copy of the double sided 11x11 insert that was included with the original pressing. “It was such an exciting time for everyone involved, creating and producing music was still quite new to many of us let alone running a record label and pressing vinyl” - Chris Leaning, 2015.) 18.00

V/A - Dengue Fever Presents - Electric Cambodia LP (minky -
BACK IN STOCK!!! This music was recorded in the 1960s and early '70s soon after Cambodia became an independent nation. It was a period of rapid modernization that not only influenced music, but also architecture, sculpture, painting, dance and cinema. For many, it was Cambodia's own artistic renaissance, a time pointing to a hopeful future. This golden era came to a sudden end when the Khmer Rouge took control of the country in 1975 and brutally attempted to destroy any trace of modern society. Sadly, while many of the recordings of modern Cambodian rock and roll survived, most of the artists who created it did not. Over the last decade DENGUE FEVER has culled this compilation of their favorite Cambodian rock and roll from many different cassette tapes. The great music you'll find here is a testament to the spirit of a modern Cambodia that existed not so long ago, and should be remembered today.) 20.00

WHITE ZOMBIE - IT CAME FROM N.Y.C. 5LP + BOOK BOX (Years before Beavis and Butt-head headbanged “Thunder Kiss ’65” and “More Human than Human” into the eternal rock video canon, there was primordial White Zombie—a quintessential, diabolically loud byproduct of Manhattan’s underground rock scene, born of art-school rendezvous and squalid apartment circumstance. It Came From N.Y.C. is the most exhaustive attempt so far to document the band’s wondrously ugly birth. Get reintroduced to White Zombie as New York noise-rock, a grotesque creation that clawed and threatened its way to crossover metal glory. Numero resurrects White Zombie’s eternally out-of-print early EPs and LPs as It Came From N.Y.C. Spread across five LPs or three compact discs, all 39 tracks have been remastered by guitarist J. Yuenger and packaged alongside the original lurid artwork. The accompanying 108-page book painstakingly documents White Zombie’s punishing progression through scores of unpublished photos, period discography, a T-shirtography, and tales from the terrifying early years that stitch together the sordid story of a band whose true power eclipsed its mainstream heyday. White Zombie lives. Don’t be afraid.) 120.00

ZIG ZAGS - Running Out Of Red TAPE (famous class NOW AVAILABLE ON CASSETTE!!! Los Angeles-based bonehead savants Zig Zags are no-nonsense ’80s style thrash with a magpie eye for deep-fried pop culture detritus. These guys give so few fucks while they are out ripping faces that it’s tough to say much about them that hasn’t been said before—they shred so that we may raise beers in non-ironic salute to their Voivod worship, to a world in which young heshers subscribe to Heavy Metal and practice early Slayer solos while watching daytime TV, to waking and baking as you watch the world burn. Running Out of Red is the soundtrack to getting high and driving around in your shitty car in your small town, occasionally getting laid…occasionally getting laid out at the local liquor store by an older dude. Gang vocals: check. 1-2 pit beat: on lock. Shredder solid state guitar heroics: ripping, and so should you, the bong is packed and I think there’s still pizza in the fridge. I can smell your pants from here, dude.) 8.00

DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE - #3 MAG (The third issue of Dynamite Hemorrhage comes in strong with features on THE VELVET UNDERGROUND APPRECIATION SOCIETY, as told through an interview with VUAS founder PHIL MILSTEIN; an epic, Homeric oral history of wiry & jagged 1980s San Francisco pop band WORLD OF POOH, as told by band members BARBARA MANNING, BRANDAN KEARNEY, and JAY PAGET; in depth interviews with 2016 faves WHITE FENCE, LITHICS, RAYS and THE COOLIES; an interview with SIBYLLE BAIER—along with five of her folk "heirs" MAXINE FUNKE, JULIE BYRNE, ALLYSEN CALLERY, JOANNE ROBERTSON and MYRIAM GENDRON; GREGOR KESSLER writing on some of the wildest and most obscure 45s of 1980s New Zealand; and interview with SARA FANCY of early '80s UK DIY acts SARA GOES POPE and AMOS & SARA; an interview with 1908s Belgian punk band UNIT 4; tons of reviews and more. 84 pages with color cover.) 8.00

Robert & Klose & Norman

BAIT - sunburst LP (When you combine black metal and hardcore, you get something that is entirely nihilistic and utterly destructive, and Bait delivers both nihilism and destruction in droves. Sunburst is a brooding darkened piece of work that shreds souls and shatters your reality. While the five songs that are in this release are blistering and can tear the skin straight off of your face, Bait does a great job of showing the slower and ultimately heavier side of hardcore as well. Each song here carries a massive weight, and Bait isn’t afraid to sling that weight around and put your life in danger. Bait takes chaos and controls it to create what you see before you. Sunburst is bleak and dismal and provides you with an interesting and numbing listen. This is a great album that you have to let sink in a little, and when you do it should be on repeat for quite some time.) 13.00

THE CAULFIELD CULT - cult LP (The Caulfield play an infectiously catchy style of punk, emo, and indie rock. Musically, The Caulfield Cult can be loosely compared to bands such as Sport, Solids, Knapsack or Small Brown Bike. Cult features eleven songs of brilliantly executed punk emo, and indie rock. Cult also features guest vocal appearances by Patrick Kindlon frpm Self Defense Family/Drug Church and Pontus Carlsson from Disembarked. Overall, Cult is a killer LP and should not be missed. ) 12.00
CROWS AN WRA - kalopsia LP (adagio830 –Repress on iceblue vinyl Featuring ex members of the bands Ravachol and Crocus Crows-An-Wra deliver an album worthy of comparison to bands like At The Drive In, Million Dead and Refused. This is album of the year material right here. 11.00

CUT - stories of success LP (sell your soul - CUT is a 3-piece from Bonn, Germany. After a few digital releases and a split tape with Empty, they are back with their first full length. The 12 tracks are a great mix of Hardcore, Sludge and Noise that will cut your mind.) 11.00

DIN A TESTBILD - Programm 1 LP (mannequin – re issue - Early pioneers of the German New Wave, Din A Testbild were formed in 1978 by Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut (Einsturzende Neubauten, Malaria!). DAT played a significant role in defining the Avant-garde music in Berlin. Mixed and produced by Klaus Schulze.) 18.00
DIN A TESTBILD - Programm 2 LP (mannequin - Early pioneers of the German New Wave music scene, Din A Testbild were formed in 1978 by Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut (former member of Einstürzende Neubauten, Mania D. and Malaria!). Din A Testbild played a significant role in defining the avant-garde music of Berlin.) 18.00

EKIN FIL - Being Near LP (Had the titular contest in Guy Maddin's The Saddest Music In The World not been rigged from the onset, Turkey could have delivered an impeccable contestant in Ekin Fil. For many years now, her spectral dream-pop deconstructions hold a thousand-yard stare of an unconsolable melancholy; and she's drawn the highly favorable comparisons to Grouper and lovesliecrushing thanks to her understated yet beloved catalogue of releases on Root Strata, Students Of Decay, No Kings, and Sacred Phrases. Helen Scarsdale has long been a fan of Ekin Fil's work, and we are delighted to have her in our constellation of artists here at The Agency. Born Ekin Üzeltüzenci and based in her native Istanbul, she cites the shoegazing classics (Cocteau Twins, Cranes, Slowdive, etc.) as her earliest influence, seeking out worn issues of Melody Maker or NME from second hand shops and trading cassettes with friends and fellow enthusiasts. This Proustian obsession with rainsoaked melodies from the British Isles blossomed into a foundation for her own art. Being Near stands as the pinnacle in her luminous career, with achingly beautiful and elegantly simple arrangements for guitar and electronics saturated in cavernous amounts of reverb, whose semi-mystical blur extends well into the vocal melodies. Ekin Fil's songs emote a timelessness of human desire and longing, albeit constrained to this plane of existence. For Üzeltüzenci, her music is not an escape valve from the patriarchal hammer of the dominant culture in Turkey, but a reflection through her own condition, in her own context, from her own body that may have actualized what Helene Cixous theorized as "écriture féminine" but through sound and not language.) 20.00

FYRNASK - forn LP + 7" (VAN -Limited to 200 copies on BLACK VINYL, presented in a sleeve with hotfoil embossing and including an insert with an additional 7-inch. "Germany’s Fyrnask offers you the blackest of the black. The one-man army of Fyrnd just released his third LP, Fórn, a dense and beautifully chaotic piece of ambient black metal. It’s thrilling, cinematic in scope, and horrific in all the right places." Pastemagazine) 21.00

JIM O'ROURKE & CHRISTIAN FENNESZ - It's Hard For Me To Say I’m Sorry LP (editions mego - Individually, Jim O’Rourke and Christian Fennesz have been responsible for numerous legendary works which merge the traditional avant-garde with contemporary sensibilities. The signature of both O’Rourke and Fennesz cohabit this new release with O’Rourke’s gurgling harmonies swimming amongst the shimmering frequencies and strummed melodies produced by Fennesz. Two side long tracks situate themselves as a warm electronic adventure. Simultaneously radical and comforting these works shift from gentle sonorities to fully distorted explosions all of which reside within a template of tension between musical and non-music matter.) 18.00

KLONE - black days DLP (pelagic - KLONE's 3rd studio album - first time ever on vinyl! Vinyl version inludes 4 exclusive live bonus tracks, previously unreleased! FOR FANS OF: Katatonia, Opeth, Alice In Chains, Anathema, Solstafir, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree KLONE are becoming the spearheads of the French progressive rock scene! Last year's "Here Comes The Sun" album made it to many year's end lists, including album of the year at Germany's leading prog magazine ECLIPSED. Oustanding reviews in METAL HAMMER, ROCK A ROLLA, ROCK SOUND, VISIONS, AARDSCHOK, ROCK TRIBUNE, HARD ROCK, TERRORIZER... The band's 3rd album ,Black Days", originally released in 2010, is a darker affair than the most recent offering... a wild melange of psychedelic rock, metal, heavy rock, grunge and stoner rock... Yann Ligner's haunting vocals and Guillaume Bernard's brilliant groovy riffs bring both Alice In Chains and Porcupine Tree to mind, and Björk fans will surely appreciate the stunning version of ,Army Of Me". KLONE have been around for 15 years and have perfectioned their sound to the greatest level of detail during this long existence.= 25.00

LOTH - loth LP (new black metal band from france. LOTH use music as a cathartic yet enjoyable experience. Their songs are full of sorrow and anfer as they filled with underlaying hope. They aim to recall the fogginess of their beloved cold hearted Austrasia, a bleak of French area where their love for raw melodic black metal has grown stronger and stronger through the years) 13.00

MASADA - s/t LP (i corrupt - Masada play a chaotic, volatile, and at times, melodic style of hardcore, punk, and screamo. Musically, Masada can be said to be influenced by bands such as Caetena Collapse, Raein, Funeral Diner, Saetia and other screamo bands from late 1990's/early 2000's. On their self-titled debut, Masada offer up eleven tracks of top notch hardcore, punk, and screamo. Overall, this is a killer LP and should not be missed. Highly recommended! Enjoy!) 12.00

V/A - Musique Concrète - Groupe de Recherches Musicales de la RTF LP (cacophonic - This record represents an important milestone in the development and progression of musique concrète - marking a crossroad for not only the genre itself but also in the paths of its originator Pierre Schaeffer and another of the genre’s most important and respected protagonists Pierre Henry. Undoubtedly one of the most influential experimental and electroacoustic musicians, Pierre Schaeffer is also credited as being the father of the theory of musique concrete as well as later name coining the term itself. Having found a job in 1936 at Radiodiffusion Française (later Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française or RTF) as an engineer, Scaeffer developed a newly found interest in music and with the blessing of his superiors made the most of his access to the Radiodiffusion Française studios, utilising his abilities as an engineer to experiment with sound whilst collaborating with musicians and composers that passed through the station’s hallowed doors. In 1942 Schaeffer and influential theatre director, producer and actor Jacques Copeau founded the Studio d’Essai (renamed Club d’Essai in 1946) as part of RTF in order to experiment with radiophonic techniques. Drawing on the works of French filmmaker, critic and novelist Jean Epstein, Schaeffer would occupy his time and his mind with the manner in which sound recordings “revealed what was hidden in the act of basic acoustic listening” and in 1948 formally set about his research in ernest - the results of which were presented as a series of studies known as Cinq études de bruits (Five Studies of Noises) during a concert in Paris. With word of his theories and experiments spreading, Schaeffer was able to press the RTF management to further finance and in doing so expand his research. However, for an undertaking of this size he would need help. Having previously collaborated as part of his early research with a young classically trained composer by the name of Pierre Henry, Schaeffer had no problem convincing the RTF executives he was the right man of the job. By adding a third prong to this sonic fork in the shape of sound engineer Jacques Poullin, Schaeffer was able to complete a powerhouse, which he renamed the Groupe de Musique Concrete, that would push his experiments further than he could have imagined. In1951, RTF handed the trio the keys to one of the earliest purpose-build electroacoustic studios (the other being the WDR Studio in Germany), furnishing it with state of the art bespoke equipment such as a Morphophone (designed by Poullin himself and capable of tape loop-delay) and a Phonogène (a multi-headed tape instrument also designed by Poullin). The studio went from strength to strength, attracting composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and Edgard Varèse to collaborate, and in that same year Schaeffer and Henry produced and premiered what is considered to be the first opera concrète, Orphèe 51.) 20.00

NUCLEAR CULT - internal aggressor 7" (Berlin's Nuclear Cult are fetching the hammer again. These Thrash vetarans, who have been in SM70, Pink Flamingos and Y, amongst many other bands before, deliver some ferocious highspeed hardcore with a gloomy twist. For fans of Septic Death, Heresy, Outo etc.!) 5.00

ÆVANGELIST (AEVANGELIST) - dream an evil dream LP (“Dream An Evil Dream” was conceived from pure forms of stream of consciousness transmitted through music. Creating music is a process of divination, by which we may open portals to non-linear universes and commune with extra-dimensional entities. “Dream An Evil Dream” was just much created by AEVANGELIST, as it was createdthrough AEVANGELIST. While others have tried and failed to convey the sense of 'ritual' through music, AEVANGELIST believe to have stumbled upon some alien source of pure evil, with a certainty that defeats reason and skepticism. Now, with this improvised piece of voidgazing, in throes of unimaginable despair, you too will find yourself among dark figures in the night that beckon you to dream, to dream an evil dream.) 17.00

ANICON - s/t LP (Awash in a thick wall of dirgey guitars giving ample breathing room to a crackling, crunchy bass, Anicon play a style of USBM that doesn’t focus on over-the-top speed or chaotic distorted madness. They are masters of the auditory journey, churning out chunks of sound that feel like a living, breathing mass. Like borough-mates Mutilation Rites, they bring a slight thrashened perspective to their grim European sound complete with tempo-changes and serpentine twists. It’s black metal played intelligently; it doesn’t stick to a formula and leaves the listener guessing how many tricks the band has up their charred and rotted sleeves. ( CVLT NATION) This release is limited to 150 copies total. 75 copies each of the cover versions. Covers are silk screened on all 4 sides on thick raw paper!) 16.00

BLUT AUS NORD / ÆVANGELIST (AEVANGELIST) - codex obscura nomina LP ( Where the BLUT AUS NORD side revels in an altered inner hell-state,ÆVANGELIST uses martial double kick, dissonant raked arpeggios, The Riff and outward tropes of extreme metal to affirm the power within isolationism, to assert the strength in difference and to reject all that is beneath them. Threshold of the Miraculous is an awakening, propulsion into action, a repeated avowal to transcend. Incessant dissonant arpeggios and slurred chords swirl amidst aerated synth and smeared sheets of twisted melodicism. An array of wraith-like voices leads into spoken word exegesis; muscular rhythms and disturbing percussive touches hammer home powerful invocations before breaking down into cathartic passages aligned with the genre-splice of ULVER's Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell and the bass-driven heft of GODFLESH, overlaid with reverberant echoes of early 4AD, post-punk and reclusive electronica. A declaration of strength within the bloody trails of psychological disconnect.) 17.00

BLUT AUS NORD - MoRT LP (Here is simply one of the most sinister, obscure and terrifyingly unique records of all time! "MoRT" is the chasm of real madness, a pure abomination, the deformed echo of a lawless musical form…a murky crawling magma of dead microtones that petrified and transformed the entire Black Metal scene. This controversial and CULT release is a putrid collection of complex compositions built on enharmonic principles. A deranged dissonant kingdom of unfathomable guitar textures, ghostly voices, agonizing drum patterns, unhealthy glissandos and chromaticisms close in spirit to the darkest reaches of avant-garde 20th century classical music. On this unearthly masterpiece, shadowy French black metal legendsBLUT AUS NORD redefined the boundaries of pure creativity, took their earlier experimentation to a logically perverse conclusion and offered Black Metal its ugliest and most unique representation to date. "MoRT" is painful, disturbing and destabilizing. This monumental and essential piece of Art is undoubtedly still your worst nightmare.) 17.00

BODY OF LIGHT - Let Me Go LP (dias - Formed roughly 5 years ago in the wasted sands of Tempe, Arizona, electronic dance faction Body of Lighthave proven to be a teeming creative force within the present-day electronic landscape. From the archaic drones and abstract measurements of their earliest collections, to their prodigious cinematic pop ballads and darkwave compositions, the two brothers, Alex and Andrew Jarson, are no strangers when it comes to blurring the compositional lines that confine underground music. Having worked together and separately over the years within the folds of the co-founded Ascetic Housecollective, both Alex and Andrew have given life to a variety of projects such as Otro Mundo, Blue Krishna,Somali Extract, and Memorymann, whilst unveiling over a dozen visual, audio, and written works under a variety of monikers in a shortened period of time. Body of Light is simply another extension of that exercised method of immediate and natural experimentation. Let Me Go frames the band as a project that has run the circle of practiced ideas to a fully-realized vision of synth pop sensibility and erotic aesthetics. Previous releases on Chondritic Sound and Ascetic House show both members grappling with sound and art as both a tool of mechanical reproduction and lawless spiritual hedonism. But after half a decade has marched on under the Body of Light banner, the project has solidified itself in its current mature state as one of the most transcendent dance music mediums today. Hesitant to define themselves strictly as a “synth-pop” collaboration, the brothers incorporate a wide variety of commodities as they attempt to formulate a direction, unique with decaying, warped tape loops, aging VHS home-movie sound samples from their childhood, primitive waveforms, and processed vocals tinged with harmonic means. Their notion is to utilize past and present technologies in a way that feels unique, honest and sensible. With multiple cassette releases to date, including Follow The Current, Lustre, Universal Sin, Volantà Di Amore and Limits of Reason, the project has established a sound and iconography that seem unusual in conjunction, though aesthetically and sonically opulent.Recorded during the afterglow of 2015, the song list that would form the groundwork of Let Me Go finally came full circle under the production guidance of engineer Ben Greenberg (Uniform / Hubble). The synth-pop anthems of songs such as “How Do I Know?” and “Tremble” relay a sense of dance floor incitement in the way that the zeitgeist of 1980’s Manchester forced the dull masses to get up and move, by any means necessary. “Moving Slowly” reminds the listener of their personal fantasy of life in the afterhours haze of Eastern Europe’s discothèques that sadly never took place. Each song follows the next into a lucid moment of cathodic synergy and romantic relevance that pulls from their self-reflected mysticism and projects itself forward during their masterful live performance.) 25.00

THE CAKEKITCHEN - World Of Sand LP (dais - Multi-instrumentalist Graeme Jefferies is the given name of the fabled underground counterculture icon hailing from New Zealand, and his mainstay project, The Cakekitchen, has its roots firmly grounded in the pages of 1980’s New Zealand garage storybook which featured countless innovative artists, all of which huddled under the umbrella of labels such as Flying Nun Records, Propeller, or Pagan Records. After performing in the revered gothic punk act, Nocturnal Projections, and after the collapse of his previous Flying Nun group, This Kind of Punishment, The Cakekitchen emerged as an amalgamation of gloomy and introspective post-punk and indie, with a stronger focus on structured studio songwriting and thoughtful compositional approach - producing some of the most expressive and unique music to come out of New Zealand during the early 90’s. Originally released in 1991 on Homestead Records,“World of Sand” is the second full length album by The Cakekitchen, highlighting the first live line-up of the band featuring the drumming of Robert Key (Expendables / Lanky), and Rachael King (3Ds) on bass. This formation existed for roughly two and a half years and these compositions were considered by many to be the height of the groups’ creative potential, with musical comparisons to the early material by This Kind of Punishment…pounding piano, maddening viola, numerous tape splices and oddball musical passages – along with several pieces recorded at home on a four track, lending a lo-fi, dark, and intimate feel to the album. Led by Jeffereies’ distinct baritone voice, the album is layered, complex, and darkly beautiful. Long sought after by collectors and fans alike, “World of Sand” has been out of print and difficult to obtain since its original pressing in 1991. Dais Records is honored to reissue on vinyl in limited edition “World of Sand” along with the The CakeKitchen’s first LP (released the same year) “Time Flowing Backwards”, in remastered editions of 500 copies making these albums available once again to old fans while introducing these classics to new listeners. THE CAKEKITCHEN - Time Flowing Backwards LP (dias - Originally released in 1991 on Homestead Records,Time Flowing Backwards, the debut album by New Zealand art rock outfit The Cakekitchen, coupling the entire self-titled EP material released by Flying Nun Records in 1989 along with 6 new songs recorded for the album. Mastered at Abbey Road by Steve Rooke(who would later remaster The Beatles catalog), this debut full length would go on to solidify and promote the growing underground New Zealand rock scene and spawn a generation of devoted followers of Jefferies’ exceedingly graceful, atmospheric, and poetic songs, led by Jefferies’ unmistakable commanding baritone voice. A diverse and inspiring album, “Time Flowing Backwards” has been out of print and difficult to obtain since its original vinyl pressing in 1991. Dais Records is proud to reissue on vinyl in limited edition “Time Flowing Backwords” along with the The CakeKitchen’s sophomore LP (released the same year) “World of Sand”, in remastered editions of 500 copies making these albums available once again to old fans while introducing these classics to new listeners. CC DUST - cc dust LP (night peopl e- CC DUST is a new duo from Olympia, Washington featuring Maryjane Dunphe and David Jaques. Channeling an elemental life-force hewn straight from the heart, Dunphe's voice bursts into every melodic line, a cracked, soulful instrument powered by conviction, duetting, duelling and dancing with Jaques' crisp production. A light that casts shadow, CC Dust is doomed, romantic music anchored by Jaques' live bass and the powerful performance values Dunphe has honed both in her punk group VEXX and in various film and performance projects. Musically, CC Dust's precedents might be considered the European synth pop originators of the early 80s, there's also an abundance of low-end hooks played on baritone and bass guitars that teases the ear like early New Order productions, but in Dunphe's passionate vocal performances there's a close-to-the-bone reality that bypasses cool detachment. Their self-titled debut explodes with Never Going To Die, an anthem for the seizing of the day, the rush of standing on the edge looking outwards, invincible. Tonopah slithers into view, Jaques baritone guitar weaving patterns around Dunphe?s voice before the emotion swells in the chorus. Baby Boy is decidedly more ominous, a slow burner that climaxes in an incredible falsetto performance. Abra is another high point, a sweeping waltz that spins the listener around into a tumult, a bittersweet accompaniment to the opening track. Mutiny feels like the end of a phase in your life "let's be rid of our obsessions, don't you agree" begs Dunphe, sounding as obsessed and passionate as ever. It's an ode to desire, the euphoria it grants and the consequences. CC Dust play and write real songs lived. A desire for desire. What is it? How does it manifest? Is it all worth the tumult? CC Dust offer no answers as there are none, but they ask the right questions in a life-affirming way. Doomed, romantic, unanswerable and vital.) 15.00

FALL OF MESSIAH - empty colors LP (i corrupt - With 'Empty Colors' comes a new release by Fall Of Messiah from Lille, France. This EP continues on where the last album, 'How To See Beyond Fields', finished and seeks comfortably into the new one – beautiful melodies, heavy hit drums and rich well-rounded guitars; the whole record is a great package of memorable and addictive tunes with no duds. This is perfectly arranged instrumental post-rock influenced by bands like Explosions In The Sky, Pg.Lost and Caspian.) 12.00
HEMELBESTORMER - aether DLP (On "Aether", the talented quartet HEMELBESTORMER shows to the world an undienable genius and a strong and impressive sense of composition. They have brilliantly blended together Sludge, Post-Rock, and a majestic Black Metal feeling with disarming ease.) 23.00

PETER BRODERICK - partners LP (For close to a decade, Portland’s Peter Broderick has cut his own unpredictable path through the world of contemporary music. So far, his wanderings have led him from solo works into the realms of film, dance and documentary scores, as well as art installations.
Now Peter takes that unpredictability one step further. For his latest album, a series of voice and piano recordings, he experiments with chance, surrendering an entire song’s composition to the roll of dice. As he explains below in an email to Erased Tapes founder Robert Raths, it was John Cage’s tendency to remove himself from his music, to somehow automate his own process, which inspired the strange mechanics with which this record was created.
In the words of Cage himself, ‘the world is teeming; anything can happen.’ ) 20.00

PYE CORNER AUDIO - prowler LP (more then - Pye Corner Audio emerges from the winter darkness with his latest collection of creeping beats & woozy pulses for the haunted disco. ‘After Dark’ is instant night, acid-tinged and full of promise. ‘She Hunts At Night’ glides majestically over agitated pulses and ‘Something Happened’ creeps inexorably towards you. The nocturnal quest continues with ‘Before Dawn’, bleary-eyed and heart beating fast. ’Prowler’ ratchets up the tension with insomniac propulsion. ‘Decade Counter’ echoes in the abandoned city at dawn and finally ‘Morning’ stumbles into the light, bloodied but safe. Until the night begins once more...) 25.00

RYLEY WALKER - golden sings that have been sung LP (dead oceans - "The preceding years have been extraordinary for Ryley Walker. In March, his second album, Primrose Green, emerged to critical hosannas from the likes of NPR, Village Voice, Uncut, and Mojo - in the process, earning admiration of musicians who had chalked up no shortage of turntable miles in Walker's life. Robert Plant declared himself a fan - as did double-bass legend Danny Thompson, with whom Ryley would later embark on a British tour A sprawling tour of the USA around Primrose Green presented a perfect chance to workshop ideas for what would eventually become his third studio album, Golden Sings That Have Been Sung. On the album, "The Roundabout" represents a symbolic return to Chicago, while other songs are directly wedded to Ryley's actual return there.
Perhaps more than any other song on the record, the somnambulant sun-dappled intimacies of opening track "The Halfwit In Me" most audibly bear the imprint of Ryley's improvisational sessions with Wilco multi-instrumentalist, Chicagoan and producer Leroy Bach, while "Funny Thing She Said" is an unflinching study of separation set to a shimmeringly supple ensemble performance. Soft, slo-mo explosions of melody intermittently burst through the distant thunder of the verses on "A Choir Apart". Intriguing, surreal images are meted out by "I Will Ask You Twice", like a malfunctioning slide projector; and, perhaps best of all, the stunning finale, "Age Old Tale", which spiders out from an Alice Coltrane-inspired reverie into a sustained rapture that very few artists have managed to achieve") 20.00

SCOTT WALKER - The Childhood Of A Leader OST LP (clear vinyl) (4AD - A key and compelling component to Brady Corbet’s directorial debut, it is Walker’s first O.S.T. work since his remarkable score for Pola X in 1999. Partly inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s short story of the same name, The Childhood Of A Leader is a tense psychological drama tracing the formative years of a young boy and set against the backdrop of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference that led to the establishment of the Treaty of Versailles. Walker continues to work with long-term collaborators Peter Walsh (co-producer) and Mark Warman (musical director), with the latter conducting an orchestra comprised of 46 string players and 16 brass for the studio recording. Both Walsh and Warman were involved in the live film score performance of The Childhood Of A Leader, alongside a 74-strong orchestra, an event which closed the Rotterdam Film Festival in February this year ) 25.00

TERRA TENEBROSA - the reveses DLP (Born from the ashes of cult Swedish Post-Hardcore band BREACH, since 2009 the enigmatic entity that is TERRA TENEBROSA have created masterfully imposing concoctions of sulphurous, tormented Black Metal and demonic Hardcore and their Dante-esque new offering is no exception! "The Reverses" is mind-crushing: artistically uncompromising, bone-shatteringly intense and devilishly heavy - a contorted monument to sinister devastation. The atmosphere distilled on this suffocating record is ignominious and truly eschatological. Layered malicious sounds lurk beneath a frenetic flow of creepy riffing; the perpetual echoes of nebulous voices are enmeshed within walls of guitar noise atop imposing drums furiously hammering home a destructive rhythmic march. As if that were not frightening enough, guesting leading names of the extreme scene -Jonas A Holmberg (THIS GIFT IS A CURSE), Alex Stjernfeldt (THE MOTH GATHERER) MkM (ANTAEUS, AOSOTH) and Vindsval(BLUT AUS NORD) - provide a ghastly final touch. "The Reverses" is excessive, fascinating, burning and just... purely extreme! After "The Tunnels" (2011) and "The Purging" (2013) - two incredible, unreal albums internationally acclaimed for their amazingly strange singularity - TERRA TENEBROSA have pushed the boundaries of their thrilling approach to offer up a masterpiece, their finest work to date. "The Reverses" is a gloriously obscure compendium of chaotic styles, dark soundscapes and frantic elements, raised aloft to the Apocalypse. The definitive soundtrack to a dying world.) 23.00

EAGLEHASLANDED - same (2nd) 7" (i corrupt - Last year I saw the Russian screamo outfit EAGLEHASLANDED on their tour with Foxmoulder and they fucking blew my mind. So when they asked me to help out with their upcoming release I immediately confirmed. And now it's finally here: Their new s/t 7" is a seven-track EP with raw, fast and banging screamo songs. Highly recommended!) 5.00

KLS - Superpop 7" (krimz kramz – 6 tracks of intense noise grind hardcore from spain) 5.00

BROTHERHOOD OF LIZARDS - lizardland DLP (captrued tracks - By late May of 1989, Cleaners from Venus man Martin Newell and Peter Nice a/k/a Nelson finished their first album, Lizardland, and handed it over to upstart indie Deltic Records.
Though there is a fair amount of Cleaners from Venus DNA in the mix due to the charms of the definitely lo-fi recording methods, the music of the Brotherhood of Lizards has a sharp sound all its own. And, the story doesn't stop there. Towards the end of 1989, label head Andy McQueen, who knew Newell's aversion to touring, asked if there was any possibility that the duo might go on a promotional tour. Newell replied, "Only by bicycle." Soon after, whilst studying a map of England and its regional radio stations, it struck Newell that a bicycle tour might be a real possibility. Thus, amazingly, in early October, the two set off on bicycles, instruments on backs, tiny amps in front carriers, for a 600-mile busking tour of the entire southern half of England. The media became unexpectedly interested. More through sheer eccentricity than eco-activism, at the turn of a turbulent decade, the Lizards had unwittingly hitched a ride on a brand new zeitgeist.) 30.00

CARA & MIKE GANGLOFF WITH GREAT AMERICAN DRONE ORCHESTRA - knock on lifes door DLP (mie - There’s a particular twinkle in the great expanse of American songwriting. This has seen countless nostalgic exploitations over the years – collections of popular songs strung together under the banner of the so-called Great American Songbook that have reiterated the form of many of these songs without contemplating their depths. In terms of thoughtful, emotive synthesis, few have understood it in the way that Cara and Mike Gangloff understand it on this new album. They take have taken older American songs, popular songs that we’ve come to understand as standards, and stretched them out into the rolling hills and vast expanses that gave birth to the nation’s earliest music.) 22.00

EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY & DAVID WINGO - manglehorn Soundtrack LP (temproray - The vinyl format for Manglehorn is limited to 2,500 copies, pressed onto 100% virgin black vinyl, and packaged in a deluxe screenprinted jacket w/ full-color, heavyweight inner sleeve. Following their inspired collaboration for Prince Avalanche - the understated, underrated 2013 film directed by David Gordon Green - iconic experimental rock band, Explosions In The Sky, and renowned film composer David Wingo return with the score to another Green film, Manglehorn. Written by longtime friend, Paul Logan - and starring Al Pacino and Holly Hunter - Manglehorn is beautifully crafted and steeped in symbolism. The performances are subtle and charming, the scenery is eclectic, and the cinematography is strikingly beautiful. The soundtrack reflects that same spirit, shaping abstract sounds into playful and poignant score. With barely a hint of guitar on the entire soundtrack, Explosions In The Sky forego the primary instrument in which their stirring scores for Friday Night Lights and Lone Survivor were built upon, opting to harness that same emotional resonance from an array of percussive instruments. David Wingo brings the same mercurial magic to Manglehorn that made his scores to Mud and Take Shelter so profoundly affecting.) 25.00

FRAK - UH006 DLP (ultimate hits - Since 1987, Frak have been everyone's favourite, premier Swedish synthesizer-touching weirdos. Even if most people hadn't heard of them until 4 years ago. And yet, world of Frak is as long as it is wide. As blue as it is black. As ominous as it is glorious. As dirty as it is hairdryer. Sweet it is as yellow paper As. All of the above is a perfect example of how trying to convey what Frak is in the crass form of words is ultimately fruitless. Here is a double 12" vinyl product from Ultimate Hits featuring eight audio recordings from Frak: three men who have known each other since at least 1987. The sleeve was lovingly hand screen-printed at the studio of House of Traps, and features the colours commonly known as pink and black.) 19.00

MADBALL - demonstrating my style LP (roadrunner – 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL INSERT 1000 COPIES ON SILVER VINYL HIDDEN BONUS TRACK "YOUR FALL"(AGNOSTIC FRONT COVER) After their menacing debut Set It Off, Madball's second album, Demonstrating My Style, finds the former Agnostic Front members navigating a similar territory that they have covered before, but with arguably even better songwriting. Loud, rude, and confrontational, Madball is praised for their unforgiving brutality and skill with raw lyrics and thick guitar grooves. Tracks like "Pride (Times Are Changing)" and the title track "Demonstrating My Style" have become classic staples of New York Hardcore/Punk and still make mosh pits around the world turn into complete chaos. The album includes the Agnostic Front cover "Your Fall" as a hidden bonus track. Demonstrating My Style is a true classic Hardcore album!) 20.00

MARIELLE V JAKOBSON - star core LP (thrill jockey - On her new record Star Core, multi-instrumentalist Marielle V Jakobsons uses her voice for the first time, while expanding on ideas she explored in her previous solo records and as one-half of the group Date Palms. Star Core revolves around minimalist synthesizer layers with melodic violin, flute, and vocals over elongated bass grooves. The songs on the album are Jakobsons’ version of devotional hymns, and they create a cosmic yet personal environment to slow down with and to get lost in. The songs on Star Core are based around slowly-evolving analog synthesizer samples. Jakobsons added bass lines and melodies that emerge as phasing patterns and delicate sonic gestures influenced by her career as a sound designer. She crafts synthesizer melodies by modulating analog filters in harmonic scales that aren’t made up of traditional keyboard notes. In the middle of recording the album, Jakobsons took out all of the frets on her short- scale Japanese surfer bass to play in tune with the synthesizers, instead of being boxed in by fretted scales. “I guess that came from the violin,” Jakobsons, a classically trained musician, notes. “Frets always seemed a bit odd and limiting to me.” The title track, “Star Core,” builds to a Bollywood-style orchestral explosion that mirrors the formation of a star. “Rising Light” acts as a compositional postlude to the title track, taking place when light from the star’s explosion first begins to appear in the sky. Singing lyrics for the first time in her career, Jakobsons crafts dreamy hymns that encourage listeners to find a core power and call upon their higher selves to create their future. Her voice connects the personal to the cosmic on the opening track “White Sparks”: “Seep in the sun/ lay one more day/ rise to the moon/ weave a new way”. Star Core was recorded at Jakobsons’ home studio and at Mills College in Oakland, California and mixed at Chuck Johnson’s Cirrus Oxide studio. ) 18.00

MARY LATTIMORE & MAXWELL AUGUST CROY - Terelan Canyon LP (LTD to 500 - Having never met before entering the studio together, harpist MARY LATTIMORE (who has collaborated with Thurston Moore, Kurt Vile, Jarvis Cocker and Meg Baird to name a few) and koto player MAXWELL AUGUST CROY made an album in less than 48 hours, all live with no overdubs. Lattimore experiments with effects through her Lyon & Healy Concert Grand harp. Croy is a multi-instrumentalist whose work fluctuates liberally between melody, classicism and experimentation.__Terelan Canyon is a “new” sound built on interplay and improvisation that explores space and form, with virtually no ego, filled with sonic imagery and a tapestry of emotions. Epic and beautiful, this recording is a special moment captured in time.) 20.00

MORGAN DELT - phase zero LP (sub pop - The invocation of classic west coast psychedelia that permeates Morgan Delt's Sub Pop debut LP feels like a continuous sunrise, never concealing its influences yet perfectly putting its songs through a gauzy lens that blurs and obscures. Is such a thing even possible after witnessing umpteen reverb-jockeys creating their own take on the genre? Can anything truly different be done in the realm of being both original and reverent, wearing favorite records and artists' moves on one's sleeve? Definitely the case with our man here. After releasing a 6-song cassette in 2013 followed by a full length for the Trouble In Mind label, the California native now fine-tunes his sound world outwardly rather than honing in on a specific trajectory, allowing all of said influences to coexist together in a unique yet undoubtedly Californian vision. The resulting 10-song collection, performed entirely by Delt, recorded in his Topanga Canyon studio, and mastered by JJ Golden, is a home-fi construction with a more subtle, brain-tickling character than its predecessor, and somewhat reflects a realist take on the flower power fantasy of 1967.) 18.00

MYRKUR - Mausoleum LP (relapse - On the one year anniversary of her critically-acclaimed, masterful debut full-length, M, Danish black metal artist MYRKUR unveils a captivating live recording from the historic Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo, Norway. Aptly titled Mausoleum, the album features beautifully dramatic & stripped down acoustic reinventions of seven songs from M plus one brand new song and a Bathory cover; all with the accompaniment of the storied Norwegian Girls Choir. Captured in a cold, dimly lit tomb covered in morbid frescos that depict the circle of human life from conception til death, Mausoleum is an incredible showcase of MYRKUR's sublime yet haunting voice in a truly chilling, unrivaled atmosphere. ) 18.00

NICK DRAKE - pink moon LP (universal – back in stokc - After two albums of tastefully orchestrated folk-pop, albeit some of the least demonstrative and most affecting around, Drake chose a radical change for what turned out to be his final album. Not even half-an-hour long, with 11 short songs and no more -- he famously remarked at the time that he simply had no more to record -- "Pink Moon" more than anything else is the record that made Drake the cult figure he remains. Specifically, "Pink Moon" is the bleakest of them all; that the likes of Belle and Sebastian are fans of Drake may be clear enough, but it's doubtful they could ever achieve the calm, focused anguish of this album, as harrowing as it is attractive.) 19.00

NICK KLEIN - The Lonesome Dealer LP (alter - Conceptual beat-maker Nick Klein returns with 'The Lonesome Dealer' 12” for Alter. Four disparate, industrial-tinged tracks that demonstrate a rough-hewn synthesis of noise and techno, 'The Lonesome Dealer' is born from a geographically transient point in Klein's life spent between Miami and NYC. Despite this, Klein has turned personal disruption around to make his most focussed statement yet as an artist) 15.00

PYE CORNER AUDIO - stasi LP (ghostbox - Conceived as a kind of sequel to 2012’s Sleep Games, there’s an epic sensibility to Stasis. The haunted concrete caverns of the earlier album give way here, to vast, awe inspiring spaces. The album has a strong narrative flow that can be read either as the soundtrack for an interplanetary voyage under suspended animation, or the exploration of vast inner realms under some other form of technologically enhanced sleep. Martin Jenkins' unique production sound is unmistakable: Carpenter-esque slow kosmiche disco and ambience, woozy synth melodies and somnambulistic grooves with soft, rich textures.) 20.00

THE SCIENTIST - A PLACE CALLED BAD DLP + BOOK (numero - With a sound that was swampy, primal and modern-urban all at once—as much in the tradition of rock n’ roll and punk rock as it was a rejection of those things, the Scientists’ formula was as universal as it was specific to their own experience. The themes of getting wasted, driving around in hotted-up cars, being trapped in crap jobs, and paranoia were their subject matter. Machine throb bass and drums with jagged car-wreck guitars were their modus operandi. Fitting into no place or time they spurned all but the most rudimentary and elemental of rock structures to create a sound all their own. 2LP version boils the box down to 22 essentials, plus unpublished photographs, discography, and fold out Perth Punk family tree. ) 30.00

SPORT - colors LP (adagio830 - BACK IN PRINT on MOSS GREEN vinyl - we are proud to be a part of the SPORT debut LP. After a great demo tape - Sport continue playing awesome catchy pop punk tunes in the vein of Promise Ring and other older Jade tree bands mixed up w/ modern stuff like Rvivr, Big Kids, Coping, American Football, Algernon Cadwallader etc. 12 awesome tunes pressed again on moss green vinyl) 12.00

WILLIAM BASINSKI - 92982 DLP (temporrary - First time ever on vinyl! Remastered from original master tapes. Deluxe 2xLP w/ custom die-cut wide-spine jacket and interchangeable heavyweight inner sleeves featuring previously unpublished artwork and photography. Recorded in 1982 and eventually released in 2009 on CD via William Basinski's own 2062 label, 92982 has become one of Basinski's most celebrated works. Finally available on vinyl for the first time, the album has been remastered from the original master tapes, and packaged in an exquisite custom die-cut package with interchangeable heavyweight inner sleeves featuring previously unpublished artwork and photographs from 1982. "You can't help but wonder why this music, recorded so long ago, is only just surfacing. Was the world not ready for WIlliam Basinski in 1982, or was WIlliam Basinski simply not ready to hand himself over to an audience at that point? Whatever the reasoning, we're certainly reaping the benefits of the influential ambient composer's stockpile, and 92982 proves to be a real highlight in his output of recent years. Despite the minimalist essence of Basinski's oeuvre there's a pronounced sense of variety, diversity and depth at work in these four tracks, with each taking on its own specific persona. Essential." - Boomkat) 28.00
