Robert & Klose & Norman

LIFE FUCKER - same 7" (static age - Do you remember the good old days of Berlin hardcore? Neither do Life Fucker and THANK FUCK! The new wave of raw Berlin hardcore is here and alongside fellow labelmates/push moshers PISS, LF are holding a match to the firecracker set to explode under the asses of all the would-be artists, internet activists and party people currently scourging the German capital. Not everything in Berlin used to be better, people and Life Fucker are a response to the long unanswered question of where to pit this Friday. For Fans of PiSS, S.H.I.T, Destino Final etc. !!! Feat. members of Diät, Blank Pages, Modern Pets and others. Artwork by Alexander Heir) 5.00

SHEER MAG - III 7" (static shock - "Sheer Mag return with another four tracker of all killers and no fillers on Wilsuns RC / Static Shock Records. Nothing has changed on this record at all - it's all epic riffs, a lo-fi and compact production, hooks galore and that soulful and gritty voice you already love. 'Can't Stop Fighting' is three and a half minutes of power pop meets classic rock and sits somewhere between the Shivvers and Thin Lizzy if such a place exists. 'Worth the Tears' is a little cleaner, mellower and soulful. Side two opens with the scuzzy and dense 'Night Isn't Bright' before the standout cut 'Nobody's Baby' - which sounds a 1978 classic rock hit that hints at Judas Priests' 'Living After Midnight' and Kiss in their prime. It's an instant pop nugget that sounds like a time long gone." (Sean Forbes)) 6.50

Vi som älskade varandra så mycket / T H E Y S L E E P W E L I V E - S p l i t 7“ (miss the stars - Whooa – this split between Vi som älskade varandra så mycket from sweden and THEY SLEEP WE LIVE from germany turned out stunning. 3 top-notch screamo songs packed in a super-soft gatefold cover with beautiful artwork by Felipe Montt. A 7_ made with a lot of love and passion – I wanna thank give hugs to the bands and Blood Of The Young, Dingleberry records and distribution, Pike Records, Tief in Marcellos Schuld Records, Zegema Beach Records. You are all rad and amazing people.) 6.00

AUDACITY - hyper vessels LP (green vinyl) (From the opening bedlam of barnburner “Counting The Days," Audacity demonstrate that while their songwriting has become more nuanced, their delivery has gotten more savagely precise. With recording duties handled by longtime friend and tourmate Ty Segall, Audacity sound like they’ve finally found someone who can capture the frenetic drive of a song like “Hypo," the off-kilter hook of “Riot Train," the undeniable melodic appeal of “Fire," and the cowpunk influence of “Previous Cast." It can be tricky to juggle the bubblegum with the piss-and-vinegar, but it’s a duality Audacity embraces, “I feel like we get portrayed a lot as a sunshine-y, carefree California band,” Gibson says “But lots of our songs deal with melodramatic subject matter. The fact we’ve all lived in Fullerton pretty much the whole time we've been in the band has some effect on the music. Driving around town, there’s a memory or a ghost on every street. People die or move away or get in trouble, or groups of friends drift apart and start hating each other and get in fights. It’s not demoralizing; it’s a part of life, but of course it affects the music.” That frustration manifests itself on songs like “Overrated," where you can almost hear the spit and sweat hitting the microphone. But then they turn around and bask in the unapologetically gratuitous pop swagger of album closer “Lock On The Door." By the time Hyper Vessels comes to close, you’re convinced that Audacity can get away with whatever they damn well please, it’s going to have it’s adrenaline-fueled charm regardless.) 21.00

BLEACHED - welcome the worms LP ( dead oceans - Bleached return with a follow-up to their sun-kissed debut Ride Your Heart. The rough, and gratifyingly old fashioned, garage of their debut is much the same, but when you have a great melodic and abrasive sound why change it? But Welcome To The Worms is also more ambitious, with great songwriting and vocals.) 20.00

BOULEVARDS - groove! LP (captured tracks - Jamil Rashad, a/k/a Boulevards, is the embodiment of funk. Taking queues from pioneers such as Prince, Rick James, and Earth Wind & Fire, Boulevards seamlessly delivers cheeky, party-themed jams that range from raw and risqué to soulful on his debut LP Groove!) 21.00

CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE - Can't You Hear Me: African Nuggets & Garage Rock DLP (Globetrotter of parallel subcontinents and digger of rare, forgotten records, Eothen “Egon” Alapatt tracks sounds from the dawn of time to the four corners of the world. On the other side of the globe, French designer Christophe Lemaire stays forward thinking and audacious in his choices: far from our deified present, he cultivates a love of timeless designs and mixed influences; a passion for iconoclastic music hidden in the dark corners of a global cultural industry “Through these tracks we can feel the communicative energy, this pure vitality, not only of Africa , but of youth and hope,” Lemaire states. “And I find it quite universal and timeless. It is not about music as an industry , or as product , but music as a craft . And one can immediately recognized when music is created with heart and soul.”) 25.00

DIÄT - positive energy LP JAPAN PRESS (punk and destroy - THIS IS THE JAPANESE PRESSING that comes w/ a modified artwork and an extra obo stripe. Looks gorgeaus Brought together by a shared enthusiasm for bleak UK punk and a history of playing in hardcore bands, Berlin based DIÄT have created a sound that they have described, perhaps not entirely seriously, as ‘tough new wave’. Fans of Crisis, Killing Joke and The Mob should be pleased by the band’s unlikely synthesis of depressive drift and cranked, accelerated energy. Their debut LP, ‘Positive Energy’, will be released this Fall on Iron Lung Records in the US and Adagio830 in Europe. Recorded last Winter while huddled in a practice space overlooking the industrial landscape of frozen East Berlin, the album finds Diät reining in the threads of malignant enthusiasm still peppered throughout their earlier recordings to focus on the cynicism and dejectedness that binds them as a band. Intending to create an album that showcases each song individually and plays out like a mixtape, Diät have boldly attempted to create a sound of their own - the sound of checking your account balance to see if you’ve been paid yet…but you haven’t. LP comes w/ a 10 page booklet and a DL code 15.00

EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY - the wilderness DLP (The Wilderness is Explosions In The Sky's sixth album, and first non-soundtrack release since 2011’s Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. True to its title, The Wilderness explores the infinite unknown, utilizing several of the band’s own definitions of “space" (outer space, mental space, physical geography of space) as compositional tools. The band uses their gift for dynamics and texture in new and unique ways—rather than intuitively fill those empty spaces, they shine a light into them to illuminate all the colors of the dark. From the electronic textures of the opening track to the ambient dissolve of closer “Landing Cliffs,” The Wilderness is an aggressively modern and forward-thinking work—one that wouldn’t seem the slightest bit out of place on a shelf between original pressings ofMeddle and Obscured By Clouds. It is an album where shoegaze, electronic experimentation, punk damaged dub, noise, and ambient folk somehow coexist without a hint of contrivance—and cohere into some of the most memorable and listenable moments of the band’s expansive body of work—“proper” studio albums and major motion picture soundtracks alike. The progressive ambience of early Peter Gabriel, the triumphant romanticism of The Cure in their prime, and the more melancholy moments of Fleetwood Mac all inform the curious beauty of The Wilderness. The uncanny ability to reconcile the tension between discordant, nightmarish cacophony and laid-back, Laurel Canyon-inspired folk-rock is a cornerstone of this album, and the center of Explosions In The Sky's remarkable evolution. If The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place was the defining album of Explosions In The Sky's career, The Wilderness is the band's [re]defining album.) 35.00

FELICIA ATKINSON & JEFRE CANTU LEDESMA - Comme Un Seul Narcisse LP (shelte r- French artist Felicia Atkinson teams up with New York-based experimentalist Jefre Cantu-Ledesma with Comme Un Seul Narcisse (SP070), their first collaborative effort recorded between NYC and the Alps. Comme Un Seul Narcisse is an epistolar conversation of post-modern times between Jefre Cantu-Ledesma and Felicia Atkinson, who – strangely enough – only met 'in real' once in San Francisco back in 2009. But the record is also a detour. While Cantu-Ledesma released the haunting A Year With 13 moons (Mexican Summer, 2015) and Atkinson her most intimate effort to date with A Readymade Ceremony (Shelter Press, 2015), their combined music sounds like everything but their recent records, filling the gaps between their solo outputs. ) 21.00

LOVE SEX MACHINE - asexual anger LP (throatruiner - "Deafening isn't a word strong enough when it comes to describe the sound of Lille, northern France's LOVE SEX MACHINE. Their brutal, low-end-obsessed, modern approach to sludge metal garnered them some instant followers with the release of their 2012 self-titled album. Four years and some line-up changes later, the band returns with «Asexual Anger», which achieves to sound even more crushing and vicious. The core of their sound hasn't changed : gut-punching guitars, irresistible slow and chuggy riffs that create an apocalyptic wall of sound only pierced by hellish shrieks. Still entirely recorded, mixed and mastered by themselves, with exquisite artwork designed by Førtifem, «Asexual Anger» is an eight-tracks lesson in absolute heaviness. An unrepentantly ugly record, without any other aim than knocking you down to the ground.") 12.00

GRAVES AT SEA - the curse that is DLP (relapse - Cult doom/sludge band GRAVES AT SEA unveil their long-awaited debut full-length, The Curse That Is, a tour-de-force of incredible magnitude almost 15 years in the making. After releasing a series of highly regarded demos and splits in the underground, the quartet has re-emerged, having recently cut their teeth performing on mainstages at Maryland Deathfest, Roadburn and numerous other festivals. Now GRAVES AT SEA unleash their strongest, most ear-shattering material to date. Engineered by Greg Wilkinson (Noothgrush, Brain Oil) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, YOB), The Curse That Is effortlessly fuses colossal walls of feedback-laden sound with gargantuan riffs that crush and crawl with the weight of mountains alongside thunderous rhythms meant to tear a hole in this dying earth. Coupled with self-loathing lyrics of torment and demise, the listener is engulfed in wave upon wave of aural misery throughout the 70+ minute ride through hell. This is music that will make you hurt.) 27.00

GRIMES - halfaxa LP (arbutus - Claire Boucher speaks a different language. And Halfaxa, her second album this year, feels like the dictionary from which we might discern just where this being comes from. Consider the title at face value; Halfaxa is just slightly removed from a place that we can understand and grab onto. This is the perfect way to describe the music of Grimes, a B.C. transplant making waves in the Montreal underground music scene. In Boucher’s last album, the Dune-referencing Geidi Primes (Arbutus), she sings in foreign languages, both real and concocted. But even when presented with comprehendible lyrics, the listener is hard-pressed to glean any concrete understanding. Halfaxa is simultaneously more human than Geidi Primes, and yet falls deeper into a hole of mystical obscurity. These songs feel as though they’re being sung through the tunnel of a labyrinth. Grimes can be the soundtrack to a witch hunt and a tape dub from a night at Danceteria”) 21.00

STEPHEN O'MALLEY - end ground LP (ideal - End Ground forms the 3rd and final installment in a series of records documenting the solo prowess of Sunn 0)))’s Stephen O’Malley released on Sweden’s iDEAL Recordings. It was performed on electric guitar thru Sunn model T amps, and captured on zoom H4 at Centre Cultural Suisse, Bad Bonn Carte Blanche, Paris, France, on 18th October 2013. In solo mode, stripped of his usual accomplices and collaborators, O’Malley is no less than an elemental force. His durational meditations absorb and consume with steady- handed wave after wave of charred, sustained, and sub-harmonised chords casting the mesmerising minimalist practice of La Monte Young into the physicality of Black Sabbath’s original, heavy metal die. The A-side/first half of this 45 minute performance features O’Malley tentatively coaxing out languorous riffs which turn the air around him to a pensive, vibrating mush. As the 2nd half dawns he begins to deliver more crushing blows, drawing out and subsiding the chords with a patented, gut-wrenching and vivifying power that transcends rock, avant- garde, minimalism - all of that - to awaken dormant senses not usually experienced with other musics or concise temporality. As with many of the most affective heavy drone recordings by Sunn 0))), among others, a modicum of patience is required in order to attain the right state for reception, but once your mind and body are malleable, the impact is deliciously visceral, primal and whelming.) 24.00

TACOCAT - lost time LP (col. vinyl) (Tacocat’s third studio album, Lost Time (an X-Files reference, doy), is their first with producer Erik Blood. Blood’s sounds are wide and expansive, bringing a fullness to the band’s familiar sparkling snarl. The Tacocat of Lost Time are triumphantly youthful but also plainspoken and wise, as catchy as they are substantive.) 17.00

TOMBS - All Empires Fall LP (relapse - TOMBS's first studio release since the addition of keyboardist/second vocalist Fade Kainer (Batillus), 'All Empires Fall', is a succinct synthesis of the creativity and the traditional black metal ferocity that put TOMBS on the map. Clocking in at 24 minutes long, the EP was recorded at Applehead Studios in New York and brought to life by renowned producer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Twilight, Yob). 'All Empires Fall' is an experimental, commanding, and crushingly heavy release, one that invokes the kind of grandeur and magnitude its title suggests, and affirms TOMBS as one of the leading lights of American – and international – black metal.) 20.00

V/A - Biologia Marina LP (First reissue of the amazing nature-themed series of libraries released in the first half of the 70s by labels Cardium, Chic, Nereide, Musical, Rhombus, Spring and Weekend. These are seven albums which have never been reissued, until now: real collector’s items which acquired the status of minor cult in the years. Biologia marina (originally released in 1973) features 12 tracks inspired by marine life – with a mood suspended between electronic music, avant-garde touches and underwater melodies. Tracks such as Correnti sottomarine, Acque tranquille, Subsuspense, Acquario or Bollicine, recorded well before certain ambient music experimentations, are among the most fascinating you can find in this library – one of the best Italian ones of that era. The album features renowned composer Alessandro Alessandroni (also credited with his own alias: Braen), but also the outstanding contributions of two others: Rome-born Amedeo Tommasi (also with his alias Atmo), highly appreciated author of some excellent libraries; and Franco Tamponi, violinist, composer and conductor always crossing the line between classical music and marvellous soundtracks (such as the one for Mondo sexy di notte). This is science – auditory science – at its best...) 21.00

V/A - ittiologia LP (Second reissue of the amazing nature-themed series of libraries released in the first half of the 70s by labels Cardium, Chic, Nereide, Musical, Rhombus, Spring and Weekend. These are seven albums which have never been reissued, until now: real collector’s items which acquired the status of minor cult in the years. Ittiologia was released in 1973 and it features music by composers such as Alessandro Alessandroni, Amedeo Tommasi – both under his real name and his alias Atmo – and Franco Tamponi, and is a rare and delicate experiment in the art of balancing experimental music and classic Italian libraries of the Seventies. The underwater and liquid atmosphere of each track was conceived to bring to call to mind “romantic algae”, “threats on the sea bottom”, “deep water” and “abyssal mountains” (to paraphrase some of the tracks of this small masterpiece: Alghe romantiche, Minaccia sul fondo, Acque profonde and Fascia abissale). Some compositions are featured in two alternate versions (with small variations, different orchestrations and additions), showing that the three musicians were always looking for new ways to express themselves: each track was a work in progress, part of a never-ending research. With its perfect equilibrium between experimental and classical atmospheres, Ittilogia is the complex portrait of a fragile and always changing ecosystem.) 21.00

WILLIAM FITZSIMMONS - The Pittsburgh Collection LP (William Fitzsimmons is an American singer-songwriter with a deeply intimate approach to his craft: he has no fear of baring his soul to the listener, with his Pittsburgh series being themed around his 2 deceased grandmothers. This release pairs Volume One, Pittsburgh, with the new mini-album Charleroi, gathered on one LP.) 18.00

THE WIRE - #386 | April 2016 MAG (Cecil Taylor: As he prepares to take up residency during New York Whitney Museum’s exhibition devoted to his work, free music’s most uncompromising piano great shares words of wisdom with Phil Freeman Mike Cooper: The colourfully shirted and widely travelled UK guitarist, whose work spans exotica, blues and ambient, explains his wanderlust to Clive Bell J Dilla Primer: The reputation of beatmaker/rapper James Dewitt Yancey has shown no sign of diminishing in the ten years since his death. Robert & Klose & Norman

ALBERT AYLER - in greenwich village LP ('In Greenwich Village' is a 1967 live album by free jazz saxophonist Albert Ayler. It was his first album for Impulse! Records, and is regarded as probably being his best album on that label. At the urging of John Coltrane, Impulse! Records' first recordings of Ayler were made live. A single track recorded at the Village Gate in 1965 was released on the album 'The New Wave in Jazz' while 'In Greenwich Village' was recorded at the Village Vanguard and Village Theatre, New York City in 1966 and 1967. Unusually, Ayler plays alto rather than his usual tenor on the opening track, a tribute to Coltrane, who was present when the two tracks on side two of the album were recorded. The two versions of Ayler’s band heard on the record both feature two bass players, which "sharpens the sound considerably, producing a rock-solid foundation for Ayler’s raw witness") 23.00

COLIN STETSON - presents: SORROW - A Reimagining of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony DLP (52HZ - A remarkable release here: saxophone titan Colin Stetson has arranged Henryk Gorecki’s much loved 3rd Symphony (one of the best-selling classical works ever) for an ensemble of electronics, guitars and woodwinds that includes members of Liturgy and Arcade Fire. It is a fascinating new spin on the piece: nice on Stetson. On 52Hz.) 26.00

DALHOUS - The Composite Moods Collection Vol. 1 DLP (blackest ever - House Number 44 is the first volume of The Composite Moods Collection, a new cycle of Dalhous recordings that examines the relationship between two individuals co-habiting in the same confined space - their interactions, their sense of self and of each other, and the pregnant space between. Longtime followers of Dalhous will observe that House Number 44 contains some of their sparsest, most malevolent-sounding electronic music to date (see especially the brooding synthesizer throb of 'Response To Stimuli' and 'End Of Each Analysis') but some of their most disarmingly beautiful too, with indelible melodies and atmospheres as deep as thought: 'Methods of Élan', 'On A Level', the elegiac 'Lines To Border'.) 29.00

GNOD - Mirror LP (rocket - More new music from the ever-adventurous Gnod, in the form of 3 stretched-out tracks. Politically-generated rage was the key to the creation of the tracks onMirror, and the ferocious momentum and bruised anger they carry will prove infectious. Both vinyl and CD versions are packed in mirrorboard sleeves, and the CD / download code includes a Raikes Parade remix.) 25.00

IGGY POP - post pop depression LP (Iggy. The Iguana. The Jean Genie. The Naughty Little Doggie. The street-walkin’ cheetah with a hand full of napalm. Whatever you call the man matters not in the grand scheme of it all, but if you sharpened your angsty teenage paws on The Stooges’ raw licks or found shelter in Queens of the Stone Age’s stoned-out serenades, then Iggy Pop’s new album should have you salivating like a dog in heat. First singles Gardenia and Break Into Your Heart both sound like the Bowie-backed Berlin-era Iggster that we all immediately welcomed after The Stooges imploded the first time around. Consider Gardenia a follow-up to the strung-out optimism of Lust For Life and think of the sexy, menacing Break Into Your Heartas a long lost b-side to The Idiot. As many of you would probably agree, a lot of Iggy’s material from the 2000s and beyond has been a head-scratching puzzle. Some would even say “unlistenable”. This album here is the one you’ve been waiting for. Welcome back, Jim. Much like the effects of a dirty syringe, the price of this record is gonna sting. This is an Iggy f-ing Pop record, though, and he’s backed by a band of rock and roll kingpins. If I were you, I’d pony up the dough and deal with the repercussions later on down the road.) 23.00

KODE9 & THE SPACEAPE - memories of the future DLP (hyper dub - Repress of Kode9 & The Spaceape's 2006 debut album, including previously unreleased extra track "Stalker (alt edit)". Eight years on from its original CD release, and to celebrate Hyperdub's 10th birthday, the first album from Kode9 & The Spaceape finally reaches vinyl in a Record Store Day special, featuring a previously unreleased version of 'Stalker' (the original of which featured on the very first Hyperdub 10"), cut into transparent coloured vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. 'Memories Of The Future' now features 15 dread-filled flashbacks and flash-forwards from a world trembling in an echology of fear, where the future has collapsed in on the present and Mothership Earth is en route to nowhere. The album brings together a retuned version of the duo's long sought after 2004 debut single 'Sine Of The Dub', with other minor classics such as 'Kingstown', 'Backward' and '9 Samurai', and 11 further doses of uneasy listening. Time-scrambling dubtronic poet Spaceape circulates around the lyrical black hole he calls home with tales of cultural addiction, urban paralysis, bioterror, smouldering flesh and psycho-affective meltdown, yet manages to conjure up a strange joy in these dystopian hallucinations as his dark dictations and demented refrains form the consistent thread through Kode9's loping rhythms, deranged melodies and walls of muffled, driving sub-bass. 'Memories Of The Future' is a claustrophobic cold shiver of astrodancehall, 15 synthetic shanties for a meteor-storm-battered spaceship.) 25.00

KRENG - Cooties - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP (deathw altz - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by KRENG Death Waltz Recording Company is delighted to take you back to the schoolyard for a dose of fun with Kreng's score to COOTIES. A group of elementary teachers – including Elijah Wood, Alison Pill, and Rainn Wilson – up against an army of feral kids infected with a mystery virus, bringing new meaning to the term “playground violence." Produced by Wood's company Spectrevision, COOTIES is already shaping up to be a modern cult classic, not least through its infectious music. Composed by the avant-garde project Kreng (aka Belgian musician Pepjin Caudron) the score for COOTIES reflects a number of influences, from Bernard Herrmann's work for strings to spaghetti westerns through a trip hop filter set to “extreme foreboding”. Kreng's approach will surprise and intrigue, compared to many scores of its ilk. While it's synth-heavy, there are key roles for haunting vocal effects and violins, mixing both aesthetically beautiful and madcap cues to create waves of emotionally and viscerally powerful tunes. COOTIES stands proud alongside – and in some cases above - the crop of contemporary horror scores. Relax, put the needle on the wax, and let this record infect your ears. You'll be voracious for more.) 29.00
LIFETONES - For A Reason LP (light in the attic - Lifetones was the post-This Heat project of Charles Bullen, in which he worked with Julius Samuel to incorporate West Indian reggae flavours into his music. It’s less bleak and out-there than This Heat, but still retains an unusual, uncomfortable edge: repetition and chants featuring heavily. Remastered reissue on Light In The Attic.) 28.00

MESSIEURS BRICOLAGE - tool box LP (kernkrach - Killer debuet album from this fantastic french band! ENJOY! Another Minimal Wave Synth Pop record presented by Kernkrach.) 19.00
MIKE & THE MELVINS - Three Men and a Baby LP (sub pop - Three Men and a Baby is the new album by Mike and the Melvins. It was supposed to come out sixteen years ago. These are the facts we can be sure of: in 1998, around the time his band godheadSilo went on hiatus, bassist/vocalist Mike Kunka busied himself by tagging along on a tour with his friends the Melvins. Somewhere along the way, Mike and the Melvins – King Buzzo (guitar/bass/vocals), Dale Crover (drums/vocals), and Kevin Rutmanis (bass/vocals), at the time – decided to make a record together, and gave the project the imaginative moniker Mike and the Melvins. Sub Pop, ever on the hunt for music’s Next Big Thing, enthusiastically agreed to fund and release the super-group’s debut, and recording commenced sometime in 1999. It’s at this point that things get hazy. Apparently, one or more of the following happened: Some “junior-high level bullshit.”_A house was built, a barn was raised, children were born._Typical record-label skullduggery.) 18.00
PARQUET COURTS - Human Performance LP (rough trade - Brand new music from Parquet Courts, New York’s much-loved indie-punks. Human Performance is a smooth evolution of their sound, as accessible as anything they’ve yet produced, but without losing any of the edge. LP edition comes with gatefold LP cover with an art booklet incl. 16 Art Panels) 25.00
SEPTEMBER GIRLS - Age of Indignation LP (fortuna pop - Dublin band September Girls make a jittery art-rock built from ghostly vocals and atmospheric guitar playing. Age of Indignation is their second studio album and channels their interest in Irish politics and feminism into a wall of distortion and effects. ) 22.00

TIM HECKER - Love Streams DLP (4 AD - Brand new full-length from Tim Hecker, who here brings his flaring waves of electronics into contact with woodwinds and the Icelandic Choir Ensemble (as arranged by Johann Johannsson). Love Streams builds on previous album Virgins, and was partly recorded in the same Reykjavik studio. CD or double LP on 4AD.) 27.00

ANCST / AST - split TAPE (Berlin based black metal / hardcore crust crossover hybrid ANCST have returned for their next release. A split LP with fellow post black metal duo AST. Both bands have recorded new material which made them progress further into their own genre niche: Relentless black metal / hardcore crossover with unorthodox elements and still very traditional ones.) 5.00

ANCST / SUN WORSHIP / VOYDN / TOOTH DECAY - 4 way split TAPE (pro dubbed black cassettes packed in an offset printed cardboard fold out box. hand numbered and limited to 200 copies. noise, drone, ambient tracks by all bands) 5.00
AARGHFUCKKILL - modern warfare TAPE (d-beat hardcorepunk from lovely hamburg! after they jumped on me doing the demo, here's their new EP! comes in a slider with lyrics and/or poster on the insert.) 5.00

A DIADEM OF DEAD STARS - the mist bearer pt II CD (no sleep til - How would you construct a black metal starter pack? If you had to hand someone 5 seminal albums in the growing lexicon of black metal, where would you start? And, more importantly, where would you end? A genre of music that seemed constricted by production values and rigid guidelines has now become one of the most versatile on the planet. And it's only going to continue to expand with time. So while your starter pack might include Bathory or Darkthrone, that would only tell a fraction of what has become a rich and bountiful lineage. Modern black metal is deeper than ever, not burdened by boundaries and ideologies. It is a framework that can be molded and built upon. For A Diadem of Dead Stars, a one man project hailing from Greece spearheaded by 'The Pilgrim," it's a black canvas, waiting to have paint of all colors splashed on it. The follow up to the first part of The Mist Bearer series, Pt. II is a reminder that the history of a genre doesn't end with one wave. (sorrow eternal)) 8.00

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS - Kicking Out Jams 7" (famous - “I always wanted to have a band that would just come up with real pop songs on the spot,” explains A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS front man OLIVER ACKERMAN. “This is that minus the pop and plus the fucked up rock and roll. This is our raw, uncut, thought-of-on-the-spot A Place To Bury Strangers. The inspiration is you. You have inspired us to kick you in the ass and make you dance or at least flail your arms around until you puke. These five? tracks were created in five? different locations throughout the world in the middle of the crowd with people breathing down our necks and stepping on our feet. Sometimes someone would grab the microphone away and bark like a chicken and sometimes grab our collective ass. Here is the soul squeezed from the past years of the band’s existence on this platter.” One-time pressing packaged in two-color screen-printed jackets.) 8.00

KILLER KANE BAND - same 7" (hozac - Another lost classic and missing link between the glam rock and punk era, KILLER KANE BAND formed its embryonic state during the NEW YORK DOLLS ill-fated 1975 tour in Florida when Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan split and headed back to NYC, leaving the band in a desperate grasp for fill-in members, resulting in bass played ARTHUR KANE call up to his old friend BLACKIE GOOZEMAN, from his days growing up in the Bronx, to fill Thunders’ spot on the remaining dates. The two decided to head to Los Angeles after the tour, as the Dolls days were numbered at that point, so they enlisted guitarist ANDY JAY from the MOTOR CITY BAD BOYS and drummer JIMI IMAGE, and set out to conquer the LA club scene with their gritty Alice Cooper-styled proto-punk sound. Rubbing elbows with such netherworld luminaries as the Berlin Brats, Hollywood Stars and Ron Asheton’s New Order, Killer Kane Band didn’t last long, but made a lasting impact, launching the career of future W.A.S.P. frontman BLACKIE LAWLESS (Goozeman) in the process, as well as laying down a scorching three-track EP recorded in 1976 which we lay before you here. First pressing of 500 copies.) 8.00

MEATBODIES - valley girl 7" (famouse class - Through the toxic foliage of the American slicked back hairdo there emerges the essence of the underground weirdo. Dance! Kiss! Lick! Love! SPIT! TOUCH ME BABY! IM REAL! Suggestions on the highway spiders up the pillar. Kill the fake, MOVE what's inside you. MOVE what you got! MOVE YOUR "MEATBODY!" KEVIN BOOG, CHAD UBOVICH, PATRICK NOLAN, sometimes BOOG CHAD PAT, usually THE MEATBODIES, also known as MEATBODIES. What was ONCE a solo affair for Mr. Chad has now turned into 3! conjoining hands, conjoining rhythms. GETTING UP FOR THE TONGUES. Clapping in the distance. Make yourself a MEATBODY. Hear the noise you weren't meant to hear 'til the end of the song.) 8.00

RAKTA -tudo que e solido 7" (la vida - Brazil's RAKTA unleash two new tracks of eerie and atmospheric post punk. From the moment the songs start you will find yourself trapped in a cave of beautiful, yet haunting tunes, in most cases, people will want to seek a way out, in Rakta's case, you will never want to leave. 'Tudo Que E Solido' is an instant nugget that fits somewhere between BLOOD AND ROSES and THE DOORS. It's driven by the tom tom work and the insistent and drone like keyboard work. The track builds and builds into a dark cresendo. On the flip is 'Serpente' - a 6 minute and 15 seconds dirge that's part SIOUXIE AND THE BANSHEES' 'Lord's Prayer' and part 'Ballet Bag' demo era RUBELLA BALLET. The record comes housed in a beautifully put together booklet sleeve wraparound with printed inner sleeves with art by guitarrist Laura Del Vecchio Lança.) 6.50

THE RESIDENTS - Satisfaction 7" (superio - "The Residents' 1976 version of The Stones' 'Satisfaction' is nearly everything the better-known version by Devo from a year later is not: loose, belligerent, violent and truly fucked-up. A real stick in the eye to everything conventionally tasteful in bicentennial America. Delightfully painful to listen to thanks to Philip Snakefinger Lithman's completely unhinged lead guitar and mystery Resident member's menacing vocal, this is a timeless piece of plastic." – Brad Laner This reissue comes with original sleeve design. Limited edition purple vinyl.) 10.00

DAS BIERBEBEN - schwarze spinne 10" (shitkatapult - “The wall is high, the ditch is deep” Just at the right moment, Bierbeben is finally back. But no! We’re supposed to say “Das Bierbeben”. Of course. But we have really been living for a long time in a world abandoned by predicates. It is a world of opinions, mostly of the sort that can be bought like (day-old) bread. The world hasn’t even noticed. And fighting against this bread are guilds that feel betrayed by seared dough. Such heavy thoughts on a day (like any other) when we actually close ourselves off inside and eat the shit anyway!!! On days like this, the Hamburg/Berlin-based act Das Bierbeben launches another new single – no, an EP, with the title: ‘Schwarze Spinne’. Back to the old roots, strong, clear, and good. And very, very new. The artists apparently (in the name of the people) only caved in after much begging and pleading from the Berlin-based (back then) trend label Shitkatapult. It’s not true. There is only one reason for this music: and that is us. That’s how it is. After three albums and a triple sabbatical, Das Bierbeben is back with four tracks: shaped by truth, chiseled from insight, demanded by sense, and right on the mark. But not this punk.) 11.00

Six of these ten tracks have never seen the light of day and currently only one of these tracks is in print (and just barely). Alicja also has gone all Paul McCartney on us because Alicja is doing 100% of the instruments, all the production and the recording herself. Alicja does a superb job in every hat she is wearing for Rats including of course the songwriting..."—Tom Smith AKA Timebomb Tom. AWALOM GEBREMARIAM - desdes DLP (awesome tapes - At the age of 28, Awalom Gebremariam arrived in the United States, following a years-long journey from Eritrea. He’d made it to a refugee camp in Ethiopia several years ago and eventually attained asylum status for passage to America. But before he left his hometown, Eritrea’s capital Asmara, he made his first and only recording so far, Desdes. Awalom completed Desdes in 2007, not long before he departed Eritrea. Because Awalom left after the recording he never received any money for cassette and CD sales. But he also didn’t get to find out how much of an impact the songs have had locally. His songs appear to focus on love, but Awalom isn’t speaking about romantic love per se. Much of the music Awalom heard growing up was intertwined with Eritrea’s difficult and contentious split from Ethiopia. He spent years waiting for the chance to escape economic and political turmoil at home. Now 29 and living in North Carolina, Awalom works in a restaurant and plans to bring his music to Eritrean communities across North America as well as newer listeners with whom his powerful sounds and remarkable journey will deeply resonate.) 25.00

CHARLES BRADLEY - changes DLP (lim.) (Limited Edition 2xLP Set incl. bonus instrumental LP by Menahan Street Band.Charles Bradley, the Screaming Eagle of Soul, began his incredible journey from being down-and-out to soul singing sensation with his debut album No Time For Dreaming in 2011. Appearances at Glastonbury and on Later...With Jools Holland have only seen his stock rise higher. Changes is his third album and is named after the Black Sabbath track he covers with an emotional intensity that only Charles Bradley can.) 32.00

THE COATHANGERS - nosebleed weekend LP (suicide - When The Coathangers started up in 2006, their aspirations were humble. “I think all bands in their early twenties start for fun,” says guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel when talking about their early years of cheeky no-wave and irreverent garage rock. But Julia and her bandmates Meredith Franco (bass/vocals) and Stephanie Luke (drums/vocals) were serious about their craft, and that combination of modest outside expectations and absolute dedication to their music made for exhilarating live shows and contagious records. Ten years later, The Coathangers are still going strong, and while their palette has expanded over the years to touch upon hip-shakin’ classic rock, soulful country ballads, and golden oldies pop, their primary attack strategy still relies heavily on the jagged hooks and boisterous choruses of their formative years. Their fifth album Nosebleed Weekend retains all the devil-may-care magnetism and serrated instrumentation of their debut, but it flourishes with a decade’s worth of songwriting discipline and chemistry.) 23.00

CFM - Still Life Of Citrus And Slime LP (in the red - CFM is Charles Francis Moothart. He has been making records for the past decade, playing various instruments in various bands—bass in The Epsilons, drums in The Moonhearts, and guitar in The Ty Segall Band and, most recently, Fuzz. Still Life of Citrus and Slime is Moothart’s first solo effort and it’s a great one. Moothart says, “Still Life of Citrus and Slime—the idea of creating something outside of the comfort zone. Blending basic elements of necessity, release and escape. An attempt to fuse reality with the elusions of the possible. The music represents an elevation beyond the barriers of linear motion and self-doubt. It is similar to looking in a mirror and realizing that time trails itself constantly by just a millisecond. You cannot kill time, and you cannot exist on both sides of the reflex. Yet, to bridge the gap is to eliminate instinct and output in their purest forms.“This record is a portrait of a person navigating the mechanics of two distinct machines. The first—the brain. The second—the Tascam 388. Eight tracks and a quarter-inch path to maneuver to the summation. The songs simmer from rare to well done. No matter the cut, the meat is fresh and still vibrating with life.) 17.00

COBALT - Slow Forever DLP (prfound lore - Since first collaborating with Profound Lore Records on their landmark 2007 release Eater of Birds, Colorado’s Cobalt have become recognized as one of the most singular contemporary American bands. Their 2009 album, Gin, is a pillar of extreme music, a milestone of progressive apocalyptic wasteland metal that took the scene by storm and landed on every “Best of the Year” list that matters. Nearly seven years since the release of Gin, Cobalt unleashes its long-awaited followup and one of the most anticipated metal releases of 2016. Slow Forever picks up right where its predecessor left off, as multi-instrumentalist / mastermind Erik Wunder returns triumphant after a period of personal turbulence, tragedy and contemplation, and new vocalist Charlie Fell (ex-Lord Mantis) brings a new level of savagery and violence to the group’s sound. An epic double-album clocking in at 86 minutes, Slow Forever is destined to leave its impact on the metal scene as the defining album of 2016. ) 32.00

CRUCIAMENTUM - Charnel Passages LP (profound lore - Having only released a demo, split and EP since forming in 2007, UK band Cruciamentum wields a reputation as one of the most prominent acts in today’s death metal scene alongside counterparts Dead Congregation and Grave Miasma (with whom Cruciamentum share two members). Despite their limited output, however, the band is quite active on the live front, having done several European and US tours, played many exclusive shows, and appeared at notable festivals such as Hell’s Pleasure and Killtown in Europe and Maryland Deathfest, Chaos in Tejas, Rites of Darkness (twice) and Martyrdoom in the US. Following a brief hiatus, Cruciamentum has been resurrected to finally deliver their debut full-length. Their mightiest work yet, Charnel Passages has been deemed one of the most anticipated metal albums of the year. It is true death metal majesty in every sense of the word, unleashing dark atmosphere, pummeling brutality and skillful playing, all rendered with clear warm, natural-sounding production. Charnel Passages will make its impact on the death metal scene unlike any album released this year.) 22.00

DAN MELCHIOR - Plays The Greys LP (ever - DAN MELCHIOR is artist as perpetual motion machine. We could say “shark,” but Dan doesn’t sniff for blood in the water. Instead, he is inviting you to his private lake; his solace relies on his relentless creativity. Whether painting, writing, collaging or recording, Dan offers nothing less than words, images and sounds transmitted directly from his subconscious, but filtered through the rigorous process of a true artist. Dan’s latest offering is a superb collection of songs and sonic vignettes that dips down deep into life’s trenches. Here, where light has to fight to be noticed, misery, monotony and melancholy mingle and bleed into one another. Accordingly, Dan doesn’t play the blues, he plays the greys. Plays The Greys is a patchwork album, but don’t let that imply carelessness. Each odd juxtaposition serves a purpose and illuminates its surroundings like a torch in the night. Dan Melchior has indeed made a blues album, one fit for 2016, and beyond.) 18.00

DREAMTIME - sun LP (capatacha - Hailing from Brisbane Australia’s underground DIY scene is the premier psychedelic outfit, DREAMTIME. On their second LP Sun, they add elements of Indian ragas and Tibetan mantras to the Turkish-style ‘70s Psych, Kraut and ‘60s garage they are known for. Following quickly on the heels of last year’s self-titled debut, Sun more than lives up to its predecessor’s promise. Sun was originally released on vinyl in Australia in 2013 and the inventory was quickly depleted, leaving nothing for listeners outside of Oz. This eagerly awaited reissue will address that deficit. The amazing lithographs of flora and fauna that enhance the visual experience of this album were made by Californian artist MEG ADAMSON. Pressed on heavyweight purple/yellow swirled vinyl.) 17.00

DREAMTIME - same LP (capatcha - The premier psychedelic outfit DREAMTIME hails from Brisbane, Australia’s underground DIY scene. In fact Dreamtime’s debut LP takes listeners on a long, strange trip to mind-expanding places. Sounds evolve abruptly, moving from skull crushing fuzz to extended tonal mediations in the blink of a third eye. Plain and simple, this album is for fans of heavy psychedelic rock. Dreamtime’s self-titled debut album was originally released on vinyl in Australia in 2011, but the small pressing prevented it from gaining momentum outside the outback. Dreamtime have toured recently with Bardo Pond, Moon Duo, Kikagaku Moyo, Boris, Earth, Earthless, and King Gizzard. Last year (?) they played the prestigious Austin Psych Fest. From what we gather, there will gas in the tank for years to come. When you feast your eyes on the Dreamtime packaging, know that occult illustrator HENRY BENNETT had his mind’s eye wide open when he drew. Pressed on heavyweight pink vinyl.) 17.00

ENISUM - Arpitanian Lands DLP (Arpitanian Lands is an album dedicated to the Enisum native lands originally named “Terre Arpitane”. Lyrics and themes are mainly describing the inner nature of those ancient lands : animals, woods, rivers and mountains. Arpitanian lands is an evocative album with powerful deep meditative and ambient parts. There is a sense that Enisum has an ineffable control over his plethora of techniques and ideas. A shining gem in a mire of half-hearted records, ‘Arpitanian Lands” grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the final creak. Of course this second Enisum album is again dedicated to all cascadian and post black metal lovers out there....) 19.00

GNAW THEIR TONGUES / ACTUARY - split LP (black - Presented on this release is a pitch black transatlantic pairing from ACTUARY and GNAW THEIR TONGUES. Actuary maybe the lesser-known of the two having spent the last few years lurking around the noise sub-underground of Los Angeles. Exhibiting a dense, psychedelic analogue harsh noise sound, sure to please any purist. MORIES of Gnaw Their Tongues, out of the quaint Dutch countryside of all places, has been hitting hard lately with a lot of high profile releases and live appearances, taking what is left of the black metal form and ripping it to shreds. Think Xenakis armed with a palette of Darkthrone here. A terror filled hellish din. Full color (barely) LP sleeves with black internal flood printing, and two-sided full-color insert and black inner sleeves. Limited to 300 copies.) 21.00

JOHN CARPENTER - lost themes ii LP (sacred bones - The musical world of Lost Themes II is also a wider one than that of its predecessor. More electric and acoustic guitar help flesh out the songs, still driven by Carpenter's trademark minimal synth. This manifests itself brilliantly in songs like lead single "Distant Dream," which hitches a familiar Carpenterian beat to an expressive drum performance and rides it to a thrilling conclusion. The eerie "Angel’s Asylum" lets an ethereal synth line command the first three-quarters of the song, before turning over the melody to an acoustic guitar, and "Virtual Survivor" delivers a blast of the sci-fi menace that characterized his great scores for films like Assault on Precinct 13 and They Live. Lost Themes II delivers eleven compelling new tracks for which fans can continue to score the movies in their minds.) 21.00

JOHN FAHEY - The Great San Bernardino Birthday Party LP (orange) (Originally released in 1966. JOHN FAHEY's never recorded an album that was more thoroughly of its moment. From the groovy flute and twangy sitar accompaniment to the backwards guitar, this Birthday Party is a charmingly trippy '60s time capsule. But it isn't a two dimensional one. The album gains immense depth from the tension between his sweeping, fingerpicked melodies and discordant string-battery. It's the audible battle between yearned for rose colored luminescence and ankle blistering hellhound darkness that enables this record to transcend its hippie dreaminess.) 25.00

KEVIN MORBY - singing saw LP (dead oceans - Singing Saw is a record written simply and realized orchestrally. In it, Kevin Morby faces the reality that true beauty – deep and earned – demands a whole-world balance that includes our darker sides. It is a record of duality, one that marks another stage of growth for this young, gifted songwriter with a kind face and a complicated mind. In the Autumn of 2014, Kevin Morby moved to the small Los Angeles neighborhood of Mount Washington. The move would shape Singing Saw, Morby's first album for new label Dead Oceans. Previous tenants at Morby's new home happened to leave an upright piano behind, with a few mysterious pieces of sheet music and an introductory book of common chords stacked on top. Thankful to finally be in one place for an extended spell, Morby, a beginner at the piano, immediately sat at the new instrument and began composing the songs that would form Singing Saw. Alongside, he began taking long walks through the winding hills and side streets of the neighborhood each night, glimpsing views of both the skyline's sweeping lights and the dark, dried out underbrush of the LA flora. The duality of the city itself began to shape a set of lyrical ideas that he would refine with the sparse accompaniment of piano and acoustic guitar.) 20.00

KEVIN MORBY - singing saw LP (colored vinyl version) 21.00

KRANO - Requiescat In Plavem LP (maple death - Requiescat In Plavem is the solo debut of Krano, reportedly recorded up a mountain and apparently not to be followed up: since getting it to tape in 2012, the man has left the scene. The sound is alt-country by way of Italy, atmospheric and sung in the Veneto dialect. This LP release is on Maple Death Records, complete with liner notes and accompanying download.) 18.00

MATTHEW BOURNE - Moogmemory LP + CD (“Moog is a regal breed of synthesizers that are slightly untamable, which is why we (musicians) love them. Always on the edge of boiling over; taming one’s Minimoog was like riding a wild mustang, and bringing it to heel. When the polyphonic Moog Memorymoog first appeared in 1982, it was like having a team of six mustangs pulling a stage coach, its power was thrilling, and everybody had better get off the road to let it through... “Its name was derived from the Apollo-era onboard computer memory needed to save patches—once one had labored with its eighteen oscillators, modulation possibilities, and the gorgeous ‘Mooginess’ that lives within its filter circuits. The sheer amount of electronics under the hood of a Memorymoog made it literally pump out hot air; making her prone to pit stops and custom updates as the years went by. “I first met Matthew Bourne, a prodigious improvising pianist, who was fascinating to watch as he took that conventional instrument ‘off road’ in an emotional sweat. Post-gig, and still wild-eyed, he made a beeline for me, having heard that I also owned a Memorymoog. Matt was keen to compare notes, and to discuss the fact that he was having the Lintronics Advanced Memorymoog (LAMM) conversion done to his (this is the Memorymoog equivalent of open heart surgery, which replaces 1,300 components over eight weeks of bench time, costing as much as a new machine). I immediately thought that Matt was insane. Some years later, moogmemory is Matt’s paean to this living, breathing machine. No other instruments are used on the album, and its capabilities are drawn out by this extremely empathetic musician: beautiful, brooding landscapes of thick impasto to translucent sunbursts; Dr Bob would be proud!” —Graham Massey (808 State), November 2015) 20.00

NEIL MICHAEL HAGERTY & THE HOWLING HEX - denver LP (Neil Michael Hagerty has played with Royal Trux and Pussy Galore, but is now returning to his group The Howling Hex. Denver is a guitar-heavy garagey record where the band let the energy fly free: lots of fun. Neil Michael Hagerty leads The Howling Hex back out into the sunshine for the first time since ‘The Best Of The Howling Hex’ back in 2013. Since then they have refocused on the immediate pleasures found within the writing and playing of a single song. This direction, explored in a pair of limited- edition singles released over the past two years, reaches a populist zenith on the new album, ‘Denver’, in which an entire community and geographic region are tapped for their energy, the celebratory pulses of which feed the new music of Neil Michael Hagerty & The Howling Hex.) 18.00

NURSE WITH WOUND - Soliloquy For Lilith 4LP BOX (dirter - Originally recorded and released in 1988, Nurse With Wound's ambient opus was years ahead of its time, a ground-breaking set of atmospheric sound patterns designed for ritual ceremonies. Hailed as a masterpiece on release, it soon became a firm favourite of NWW fans and topped the world ambient chart for over three months! Originally a limited-edition three-album set housed in a handsome 12-inch gold and black foil embossed box, this new edition features 2 extra sides with 40 minutes of previously unreleased music from the original sessions.) 75.00

ORDEN MUNDIAL - obediencia debida LP (la vida - Hailing from Mallorca ORDEN MUNDIAL plays unadulterated distorted hardcore punk which is equally influenced by WRETCHED/ CRUCIFIX or UNITED MUTATION/ MECHT MENSCH. Their guitar sound is unhinged with an insane tone over a relentless drums/bass and a vocalist which manages to get his point across firmly. Their message is clearly anti-authoritarian with most lyrics on the album questioning dogma and painting a bleak picture of our lifes. An urgent record for urgent times. The album is pressed in 180 gsm vinyl and comes housed on a 350gsm reverse board jacket designed from the band. Includes a 60x30 black and white insert with lyrics and art.) 13.00

PJ HARVEY - the hope six demolition project LP (island - The Hope Six Demolition Project draws from several journeys undertaken by Harvey, who spent time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period. “When I’m writing a song I visualise the entire scene. I can see the colours, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture. Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with”, says Harvey. The album was recorded last year in residency at London’s Somerset House. The exhibition, entitled ‘Recording in Progress’ saw Harvey, her band, producers Flood and John Parish, and engineers working within a purpose-built recording studio behind one-way glass, observed throughout by public audiences.) 22.00

PONY TIME - Rumours 2: The Rumours Are True LP (s-s - Luke Beetham and Stacy Peck of Pony Time: are they or aren’t they? The question on everyone’s mind will finally be answered on the group’s latest record Rumours 2: The Rumours Are True. Yes, it’s true. The Seattle two-piece has a new hit album recorded at Earwig Studio in the same style of Fleetwood Mac’s classic, replacing the copious amounts of cocaine with Gatorade and the tumultuous love affairs with trips to Arby’s. Their fourth full-length, Rumours 2 combines Beetham’s crunchy, catchy, hum-into-your-hairbrush bass tones and emotive howl with Peck’s powerful drum beats to create eleven all-out ragers that thrash around as wildly on the record as they do at their sweaty, energetic live shows. Pony Time takes the best parts of garage rock and leaves behind the bonehead bro attitude, for a sound that transcends the genre with pure, heart-swelling energy and the kind of magical chemistry that only exists between bandmates who are friends in real life—in other words, they zero in on Troggs-like hooks, Wounded Lion pop-sense, and Beat Happening’s sense of whimsy. ) 18.00

SAM BEAM & JESCA HOOP - love letter for fire LP (sub pop - Love Letter for Fire is a collaboration between Sam Beam (aka Iron and Wine) and singer-songwriter Jesca Hoop. The thirteen-track album features the singles “Every Songbird Says” and “Valley Clouds,” and was written throughout 2014. Love Letter for Fire features Beam and Hoop on vocals and guitar along with Robert Burger (keys), Eyvind Kang (violin, viola), Glenn Kotche (drums, percussion), Sebastian Steinberg (bass) and Edward Rankin-Parker (cello). The album also features a cover photo by Sam Beam. As Iron and Wine, Sam Beam recorded for Sub Pop from 2002-2007, releasing a number of highly-acclaimed albums, singles, and EP’s, including The Creek Drank The Cradle (2002), Our Endless Numbered Days (2004), Woman King (2005) and The Shepherd’s Dog (2007). He went on to record for Warner Brothers, Nonesuch, and 4AD. Recent releases include a covers album with Ben Bridwell from Band of Horses, and the two-volume Archive Series, which features material that preceded Sam’s Sub Pop-era recordings. Jesca Hoop is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. She is an incredible live performer, known for her wonderfully-eclectic take on folk, rock, and electronic music. 18.00

SHOOTING GUNS - Spectral Laundromat LP (capatcha - Hailing from Saskatoon in the heart of the Canadian prairies, SHOOTING GUNS work to fortify the heavy end of the psychedelic spectrum. Haunting the foggy moor between pulse-riding kraut-rock and Sabbath-styled doom riffage, these primal cuts go straight for the kill. These dudes have impressed critics with their unholy instrumental slaying. Spectral Laundromat collects four tracks of raw AF, pilsner-fuelled jams pulled from a suitcase of recordings that bridge the gap between Born to Deal in Magic and 2013’s Brotherhood of the Ram. These cuts capture Shooting Guns dialled in, with your eardrums in their sights. Pressed on heavyweight toxic yellow vinyl.) 17.00

SPACIN`- Total Freedom LP (richie - Long-overdue long-form platter from Philadelphia’s Spacin’, the low-key torchbearers of both John Sinclair’s bold program and the fuzzy truth that less is often more (much more) as demonstrated by Lou’s time with Morrison & Tucker & Cale. On Total Freedom, guitarist & vocalist Jason Killinger blazes the path, lead guitarist Paul Sukeena & bassist Sean Hamilton vamp on economical electric chugs while drummer Eva Killinger reprises in her role as thee undisputed master of basement motorik. As a handsomely illustrated insert attests, the whole thing is punctuated by flourishes from some of most celebrated talents of this town’s percolating stew. Blast it soon or remain condemned to a billion years probation.) 16.00

TANCRED - Out Of The Garden LP (polyvinyl - Out of the Garden is a mission statement that underscores the “power” in power-pop and is punctuated by lyrics as razor-sharp as the hooks. Written over a two-year period during a break from touring, the album’s emphasis on re-defining feminine expectations was shaped by primary songwriter JESS ABBOTT's experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town. “I learned how to speak up when I needed to and how to truly be myself without reservation,” Abbott recalls. “I felt afraid walking home at night, and after a couple of months I just got sick of it and started getting into self-defense and self-empowerment as a means of coping. Finding my own strength changed everything.” After writing and tracking every song in her apartment, Abbott (also of beloved Minneapolis trio NOW, NOW) enlisted KEVIN MEDINA and TERRENCE VITALI to add drums and bass to her demos. The band then traveled to LA to record with OFF! bassist STEVEN MCDONALD and That Dog vocalist/guitarist ANNA WARONKER. Abbott’s fearlessness to discuss personal topics is referenced in the album’s title, an allusion to exiting Eden and leaving behind all the restrictive cultural norms ingrained in the Biblical “paradise”: tradition, purity, holiness, binary gender, heterosexuality, and the idea that anything is forbidden (especially for women). LP pressed on 180-gram clear teal vinyl.) 17.00

TONY CONRAD WITH FAUST - Outside The Dream Syndicate LP (superior viaduct - Violinist, composer and filmmaker Tony Conrad started his career in New York in the early 1960s. As a member of the Theater of Eternal Music (a.k.a. the Dream Syndicate) alongside John Cale, La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Angus MacLise, he participated in now-legendary and often legendarily loud drone performances with many pieces having no beginning and no end. During a fateful trip to Germany in 1972, Conrad met with avant-rock visionaries Faust and made the very first record to bear his name. Outside The Dream Syndicate, originally released in Europe only in 1973, is a stunning debut. Two side-long tracks—“The Side Of Man And Womankind” and “The Side Of The Machine”—show just how far Conrad had moved beyond his minimalist peers. Werner Diermaier’s repetitive drum beat and Jean-Hervé Peron’s stripped-down bassline conjure a tense, ascetic groove, while Conrad’s seamless violin, initially so controlled, reveals a surprising adaptability. The music shifts almost on a subliminal level, pushing and pulling to the drone’s internal pulse. It is hard to imagine Conrad’s trajectory from downtown Manhattan to a farmhouse in the German countryside that ultimately resulted in Outside The Dream Syndicate, yet no other record captures—so completely and instantly—the intersection of avant-garde and rock forms. Outside The Dream Syndicate remains ahead of and bracingly outside of its time. This first-time vinyl reissue and long out-of-print CD release have been carefully been carefully mastered from the original master tapes and include liner notes by musician Jim O’Rourke and author Branden W. Joseph.) 25.00

TRADITIONAL FOOLS - fools gold LP (in the red - The Traditional Fools were David Fox, Andrew Luttrell and Ty Segall. They splashed onto the underground music scene around 2006 with a no-frills, lo-fi, fun, sloppy brand of budget garage-surf-punk sadly absent from music at the time. The trio released one cassette, one full-length album, a single and then knocked it on the head. They occasionally still get together for the odd “reunion” show (they never technically broke up) but will only play suitable venues like Permanent Records in Eagle Rock or Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach.Fools Gold collects the tracks from their 7-inch single along with thirteen previously unreleased recordings that have been languishing in their garage for years. Taken together, this is a barn-burner for those who can appreciate trash rock at its finest—soaked in reverb, feedback and cheap beer. Cover versions of The Damned, Love, Redd Kross, The Mummies and Gary Glitter stand shoulder to shoulder with the band’s original jams. The Traditional Fools were a party band and this album is a rock ’n’ roll party! “With speed, volume, great riffs, and a sloppy delivery, they breathe punk rock life into surf.” —Pitchfork “Like Link Wray and Dick Dale on steroids, effortlessly marrying sun-soaked surf rock with the dirtier sounds of bands like the Dead Boys.” —Consequence of Sound ) 17.00

WET BLANKETS - Rise Of Wet Blankets LP (agitated - NOW AVAILABLE!!! Wet Blankets are from Australia. Rise Of Wet Blankets is the first 12” from these Geelong whackers, packin’ 11 bangers into 18 minutes. Wet Blankets don’t write long songs, don’t get played on JJJ (UK residents, read, XFM), don’t have a permanent guitarist on this LP, in fact, Wet Blankets don’t even have a front cover on this LP (hand stamped cardboard to protect the record!). Wet Blankets write songs about real world problems like homeless people, stealing from Coles (UK residents, read Tescos) and being late for school. The band came together round August of 2013, when 14-year-old Zane Gardner started slammin’ chords and rippin’ solos on his brother’s guitar. By the years end, a two track 7” was recorded in the bedroom and released in February ’14 on Italian label Goodbye Boozy. A couple of months later, Rise Of Wet Blankets was born. The record was recorded on the industrial side of West Geelong with top bloke Mark Doman on his reel-to-reel 8 track one Saturday last year, spitting out influences like the Reatards, Swell Maps, Ramones and Dead Kennedy’s to name a few. Guitarists Zak & Jake (of Hierophants fame) take turns shredding over the top of each track to give it some extra life, but what it really sounds like is a fifteen-year-old kid yellin’ his guts out about bogans stealing carrots, crummy school teachers and eating overcooked steak for breakfast. Limited quantity available.) 15.00

WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS - Call Me Burroughs LP (superior viaduct - Originally released in 1965 by The English Bookshop in Paris and later by ESP-Disk’ in New York, Call Me Burroughs marks not only the recorded debut of William Burroughs, but also for many the first encounter with his inimitable voice. While Burroughs has had pervasive influence on counterculture in the past 50 years—from the Beats to punk rock and even hip hop—no other figure today is so widely considered the epitome of cool. Call Me Burroughs features the author reading from Naked Lunch and Nova Express, two of his best-known works that utilize the cut-up method developed by Burroughs and artist Brion Gysin. An eerie, deadpan drawl guides the listener through sci-fi innerscapes, narcotic nightmares, reports from the edge of the apocalypse. Phantasmagoric passages echo real experiences roaming the streets of Mexico, the West Village, Tangiers. Bradley the Buyer and other shadowy agents haunt our ears as Burroughs turns the page and pauses purposefully. “Anything put out up till now is like pulling a figure out of the air—Enemy installations shattered—Personnel decimated—Board Books taken—Electric waves of resistance sweeping through mind screens of the earth—The message of Total Resistance on short wave of the world” This first-time vinyl reissue is recommended for fans of Hunter S. Thompson, Patti Smith and Throbbing Gristle.) 25.00

WOLFPACK - LP BOXSET (southern lord - Southern Lord will be bringing back the furious early era of WOLFBRIGADE, the band then known as WOLFPACK, in a trilogy of reissues this April. The series will encompass the savage Swedish act's first three LPs -- A New Dawn Fades, Lycanthro Punk, and Allday Hell -- as well as a boxset including all three LPs and the remaining two EPs released before their name change. This marks twenty years since the release of their first two records; Bloodstained Dreams and A New Dawn Fades. WOLFBRIGADE was one of the main factors in the renaissance of d-beat driven hardcore punk that ruled the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with a legion of bands and labels forming a globally recognized network of crushing momentum, siren-like leads and earnest anger sourced from political dissatisfaction and the need to build from the ground up a DIY system. WOLFBRIGADE's music stood at the forefront, in no small part down to their instantly identifiable brand of destructive riffing, riddled with chaos and ire, and with a fatally catchy tendency to structure tracks in a manner that kept the listener captive, slammed between a constant buffeting of high-speed verses and snappy choruses. Add to that their bare-bones intensity, underwritten by the storming d-beat drumming. The first three albums cemented their direct blasting approach and remain longstanding favorites, before their transformation at the turn of the millennium brought in darker tones and alternate directions. Southern Lord will be running with the WOLFPACK to return to print A New Dawn Fades (1996), Lycanthro Punk (1998) and Allday Hell (1999), all of which will be available in LP format, or together in a special box set that also comes with the bonus 7"s Bloodstained Dreams (1996) and Hellhound Warpig (1997)) 80.00

WOODS - City Sun Eater In The River Of Light LP (woodsist - "Woods have always been experts at distilling life epiphanies into compact chunks of psychedelic folk that exists just outside of any sort of tangible time or place. Maybe those epiphanies were buried under cassette manipulation or drum-and-drone freakouts, or maybe they were cloaked in Jeremy Earl’s lilting falsetto, but over the course of an impressive eight albums, Woods refined and drilled down their sound into City Sun Eater in the River of Light, their ninth LP and second recorded in a proper studio. It’s a dense record of rippling guitar, lush horns, and seductive, bustling anxiety about the state of the world. It’s still the Woods you recognize, only now they’re dabbling in zonked out Ethiopian jazz, pulling influence from the low key simmer of Brown Rice, and tapping into the weird dichotomy of making a home in a claustrophobic city that feels full of possibility even as it closes in on you. City Sun Eater in the River of Light is concise, powerful, anxious—barreling headlong into an uncertain, constantly shifting new world." -Sam Hockley-Smith) 18.00

WHITNEY K – goodnight TAPE (maple death - Time is not a friend when trouble comes rolling in. Except this time you_re driving around Vancouver, Canada with Whitney K and everything is becoming intoxicating by the second, he wants to waste your minutes, get comfortable and help you find a new illusion sometimes called romance. Whitney K is Konnor Whitney a young man from Vancouver, who has spent time in Whitehorse, Yukon, Montreal, Burnaby and Los Angeles. Goodnight is his first album for Maple Death Records and fittingly is his most coherent effort, an intimate journey into everyday life, borderline depression and the simple things that keep turning those 24 hours around: read, drink, get around and work just enough to stay afloat. Recorded completely at home on a 4 track machine empathetically named “moth insurance” Goodnight has all the qualities of a timeless recording, a warm ball of charm hurling down a freeway filled with late night Harry Nilsson stories (Goodnight), the raw fierce spirit of Karen Dalton, the chu-chu train thunder of John Cale_s Velvet Underground (Swans, Sympathy) and the ragged primitive noise punk blues of Royal Trux and early Beck a là One Foot In The Grave era (Running Up That Hill). Once they would have simply called it outsider folk, tying Whitney K, to a generation of ramblin_ troubadours living life on the freakier side of American folk and walking in Michael Hurley_s shoes. What sets Whitney apart is his straightforward, introspective lyrical style that combines folklore and realism to instantly transform the mundane into extraordinary, creating seven stories that draw you in from the get-go. Goodnight was mixed by former Jackie O_ Motherfucker member Joshua Stevenson (Nü Sensae, Destroyer, Steve Hauschildt, White Lung) and places Whitney K in the fervent Vancouver music community amongst friends and peers Cindy Lee & Gretchen Snakes.) 7.00

THE BODY & FULL OF HELL - One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache CD (Since their inception in 1999, massively prolific Arkansas band The Body has refined an uncategorized and unmatched sound. The duo writes and acts as one—a deafening wail against a failing species. Full of Hell was formed in 2009 in Ocean City, Maryland. With a similar ethos, the band is prolific and relentless, ever challenging themselves, channeling influences from across the spectrum of extreme music into a nihilistic wall of oppressive sound. Both acts are unstoppable tour machines, and in 2015 joined forces for a massive North American campaign. Recorded amidst the chaos at Machines With Magnets in Providence, Rhode Island, One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache is the debut collaborative work by the two likeminded artists.) 15.00

ANDY STOTT - too many voices DLP (modern love - Too Many Voices is the fourth album from Andy Stott, a follow-up to 2014's Faith in Strangers (LOVE 098CD). It was recorded from 2014-2016 and sees a diverse spectrum of influences bleed into nine tracks that are as searching as they are memorable. The album draws inspiration from the fourth-world pop of Japan's Yellow Magic Orchestra as much as it does Triton-fueled grime made 25 years later. Somewhere between these two points there's an oddly aligned vision of the future that seeps through the pores of each of the tracks. It's a vision of the future as it was once imagined; artificial, strange, and immaculate. Full of possibilities. The album opens with the harmonized, deteriorating pads of "Waiting For You" and arcs through to the synthetic chamber pop of the closing title-track, referencing Sylvian and Sakamoto's "Bamboo Houses" (1982) as much as it does the ethereal landscapes of This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance. In between, the climate and palette constantly shift, taking in the midnight pop of "Butterflies"; the humid, breathless house of "First Night"; and the endlessly cascading "Forgotten." Longtime vocal contributor Alison Skidmore features on half the tracks, sometimes augmented by the same simulated materials as on the dystopian breakdown of "Selfish," and at others surrounded by beautiful synth washes, such as on the mercurial "Over" or the dreamy, neon-lit "New Romantic." It's all far removed from the digital synthesis and the abstracted intricacies that define much of the current electronic landscape. The same cybernetic palette is here implanted into more human form; sometimes cold, but more often thrumming with life. Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy.) 26.00

BABYFATHER - "BBF" Hosted By DJ Escrow DLP (hyperdub - Dean Blunt x Arca x Mica Levi x made-up Idris Elba quotes x Hyperdub: it’s a lot... Fronted by that image and opening with the most unsettling, unrelenting mantra “this makes me proud to be british”, set to harp, leisure centre noise and bleeping mobiles; Dean Blunt’s got us by the gullet with his debut LP as Babyfather. Essentially BBF - Hosted by DJ Escrow is a definitive UK hip hop album of the decade so far; a shadow-play of paranoid & surreal atmospheres, ambiguous juxtapositions, upfront infidelity and playful/dreadful intentions that perhaps best reflect street-view observations of the knackered, profane, pagan and pointedly archaic in contrast to supposedly progressive national values and the schizoid political and artistic double-speak of the “elite”. We haven’t a clue who DJ Escrow is - quite possibly Blunt’s Quasimoto-style sped-up alter-ego, maybe his boy from home - but he’s crucial to the album; like some pop-up avatar or liminal interpreter reporting back from the zones, culminating in a passionate monologue calling for unity that’s actually undermined by the fact his voice is accelerated to cartoonish levels - perhaps as many view the situation anyway. Peel back that shiny nike lacquer of FX tho, and you’re faced with a deepening identity crisis dealt with in the best blend of irreverence and well-meaning intent that’s really messing our heads right now.To be honest we’re no wiser at this point than we were before hearing the album, but we definitely felt something strange in there that’s going to linger.) 23.00
BLOOD CEREMONY - lord of misrule LP (Taking its title from this fascinating slice of religious history, Blood Ceremony’s fourth album evokes pagan rites and the bizarre mystical underbelly of rural Britain. Embracing the psychedelic and progressive in their indelible songcraft, guitarist Sean Kennedy, bassist Lucas Gadke, drummer Michael Carrillo and triple threat vocalist/flautist/organist Alia O’Brien have created what Kennedy calls “a very English album,” despite the band’s very Canadian heritage. Recorded to analogue tape with producer Liam Watson at Toe Rag Studios in London, Lord Of Misrule possesses a timeless quality within the rock epoch: It could stand alongside a Shocking Blue or Deep Purple record as easily as it will take its place among 2016’s finest albums. Lord Of Misrule conjures a lush atmosphere in which the pastoral horror of The Wicker Manand the Scottish ballad of Tam Lin—as viewed through the lens flare of Ava Gardner’s witchy turn in 1970’s The Devil’s Widow—are alchemized into songs of seduction and mortality. “There’s no defining concept running through the album, unless one can imagine a lord of misrule offering each song as a different entertainment,” Kennedy says. “The lyrics tend to deal, in different measure, with obsession, love and death.” Case in point: “Flower Phantoms,” which takes its title from a 1926 novel by Ronald Fraser. “This song is a bit of an anomaly for us,” Kennedy offers. “Alia wrote a dark, ’60s-inspired pop song, and I contributed the lyrics—which are quite dark. The book is about a young woman who escapes her dull life and develops an erotic attachment to various hothouse flowers in Kew Gardens. The lyrics emphasize the idea that his type of escape often leads toward death, with each path shrouded—figuratively—in hemlock leaves.”) 18.00
CHURCH OF MISERY - and then there were none ... LP (rise above - For the last two decades, Church Of Misery have sawed off only the finest in uncompromising doom. The revered Japanese masters are lifelong practitioners of the genre, honoring and extrapolating upon the Sabbathian legacy from which all detuned life springs forth. Church Of Misery’s sixth and latest album, And Then There Were None, is another blood-soaked trip through homicidal hell, with songs inspired by killers both infamous and obscure. But while the murderous inspiration for the tunes remains the same, the cast of characters is almost completely new. In 2014, Church Of Misery bassist and mastermind Tatsu Mikami was forced to assemble a new lineup for the band’s follow-up to 2013’s Thy Kingdom Scum. His chosen few reside on American soil: Blood Farmers guitarist Dave “Depraved” Szulkin, Earthride drummer Eric Little (ex-Internal Void) and Repulsion frontman (and former Cathedral bassist) Scott Carlson on vocals. “All the musicians involved in this album are undoubtedly the best in this scene,” Tatsu enthuses. “So you will enjoy listening to all play tastefully.” Carlson wrote all the lyrics for And Then There Were None, which also marks the first time he’s done vocals for a full-length album since Repulsion’s genre-inventing classic,Horrified. “I was afraid to listen to it for a while because I haven't recorded a full album of vocals in almost 30 years,” he says. “Once Tatsu had mixed everything I listened back and was able to enjoy it. The riffs are so strong on this record that even my 50 year-old vocal chords couldn't bring it down! I'm very pleased to be a part of this and I can't wait for Church of Misery fans to hear it!”) 18.00
CULT OF LUNA & JULIE CHRISTMAS - mariner DLP (indie - With their mind-melting eighth epos, Cult Of Luna & Julie Christmas bring you to the outer rim of the ever expanding boundaries of the cosmos, where the rules of man are not applicable and the cold, dark nothing envelops the harsh realities of the universe Since their beginnings in 1998, Cult Of Luna has released seven albums, been awarded the top rock/metal award at the Swedish National Radio Awards and cemented their status as one of the true progressors of the metal genre, known to most metal aficionados. In 2013, the Swedes teamed up with Indie Recordings for the release of perhaps their most successful work to date in the shape of “Vertikal I” and "Vertikal II". _These cohesive pieces of work received worldwide appraisal and only pillared Cult Of Luna to even greater heights. For their eight effort, the post-metal pioneers join forces with the talented Julie Christmas from Brooklyn, bringing an even larger depth to Cult Of Lunas sound. Her haunting voice has fronted vital bands such as Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice, and is one of significance in the underground sludge and post-metal scene. Furthermore, she has released two solo albums and features on tracks by bands like Mouth of the Architect and String of Consciousness. Her prowess as a vocalist is powerfully on display on “Mariner”._At the end of Vertikal, we stood in the cold harshness of the mechanical city and looked up onto the stars. We lost ourselves in the awe of their grace and thought that “maybe the answer is to be found above". The ship was leaking and by to look of it, our home was dying. No room for fear when a greater call demands your full attention. So, we left... Onward, forward. Like the old seafarers, we explored the vastness of space. Not bound by physical laws we pass the speed of light and chase the expansion of space until we reach its limit._ And then, we continued on and disappeared. This is our story. - Cult Of Luna) 26.00

DREAM DEATH - Dissemination LP (rise above - Somewhere in the darkest depths of Pittsburgh, Dream Death have risen from their self-imposed grave. After making their full-length debut in 1987 with the groundbreaking doom/death/thrash masterstroke Journey Into Mystery, an album that somehow bridged the groaning gaps between Celtic Frost, Slayer and Saint Vitus while going on to influence many a notable death metal and death/doom faction, the vastly underappreciated band pulled their own plug in ’89 and formed the more traditional doom outfit Penance. The latter’s 1992 album The Road Less Travelled was one of the earliest Rise Above releases, while Dream Death began what would prove to be a 22-year hibernation. In 2011, vocalist/guitarist Brian Lawrence, drummer Mike Smail (formerly of both Pentagram and Cathedral), bassist Richard Freund and guitarist Terry Weston regrouped and eventually stormed the studio for Dream Death’s 2013 comeback album, Somnium Excessum. The band’s third and latest, Dissemination, marks the return of The Road Less Travelled lineup to Rise Above, this time in their resurgent Dream Death incarnation. Forged in the dank recesses of Lawrence’s basement, Dissemination is the apogee of a creative process that recaptured and reinforced the singular spirit of Dream Death’s late ’80s triumphs. “While I'm proud of the material on Somnium, I think there was some experimentation there that could have been reigned in a bit,” Lawrence offers. “The tracks on Dissemination are much more focused and delivered with intent.”) 18.00

DYSNEA BOYS - forgot how to read LP (take it back - Lead singer Jason Honea from the San Francisco Bay Area was the former front man of California skate rock legends Social Unrest. His unique vocal style is instantly recognizable and makes the Dysnea Boys sound true to their musical roots. Bass player C.C. Voltage (formerly of the Spitfires/Black Halos/Loyalties) and Chris Frey (formerly of Radio Berlin/Book of Lists/Sludge) are both former Vancouverites who met in Berlin to collaborate on a new project with Honea. Drummer Tom Fanore (formerly of Sorry My Sox), rounds out the line-up. The band plays classic 80s skate punk that will surely please fans of Social Unrest, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Agent Orange, and Adolescents.) 12.00

JAMES TATUM - Contemporary Jazz Mass LP (jazzman - A truly stunning gem of independent label spiritual jazz, reissued for the first time on Jazzman Records. James Tatum’s stunning, spiritualised Contemporary Jazz Mass is one of the only true jazz masses ever released. Inspired by Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts, Tatum’s masterwork was recorded on its first ever performance at St Cecilia Church in Detroit, and released on his own private label in 1974. Professional music educator and jazz composer Tatum had been working as a teacher in Detroit, and in the long aftermath of the 1967 riots he had started to instruct local children music in St Cecilia’s. The Church commissioned the mass in 1972, and Tatum put together an ensemble of singers from within the church, backed by his own trio and local jazz musicians. Looking toward the great sacred works of Ellington, but with lyrics drawn straight from liturgy, the Contemporary Jazz Mass is a unique work of sanctified vocal jazz – nourishment for the spirit and soul, brought back to you by Jazzman Records!) 28.00

KANE IKIN - modern pressure LP (type - With previous releases on 12K, Kesh Recordings, and This Thing Records and Tapes, as well as being in groups Coup d'état and Solo Andata - Melbourne based experimental producer Kane Ikin makes the natural step over to Type for his latest album. Deep, explorative and rhythmic. For fans of Loscil, Thomas Köner, Deaf Center. So basically, Type… If like Type.. You might not have come across Melbourne’s Kane Ikin before, but he’s far from a newcomer. A member of experimental duo Solo Andata, Ikin also released material on Taylor Deupree’s influential 12k imprint, working with a variety of different sounds and elements over the last decade. Modern Pressure is a milestone for Ikin, written at a trying time that was the producer’s hardest financially but most creative musically. Selling equipment to pay the rent, Ikin wrote track after track in quick succession to hone his skills, using the process as both a form of escapism and reflection. The resulting album is a mirror of this struggle, a collision of stomach-churning bass and searing percussion that overwhelms your senses, staying with you long after the music has subsided. Ikin manages to harness a variety of influences, folding the sound of early 80s industrial tapes and no wave with the relentless pulse of house and techno, the intense low-end of hardcore and the eerie mood of John Carpenter’s most menacing soundtracks. It’s an album with a defined narrative that looks to the past without ever losing sight of the future. Dark, shimmering and textured, Modern Pressure is an album for our era - damaged, but not without hope.) 18.00
NIGHT BIRDS - Mutiny At Muscle Beach LP (In 2009, Night Birds resuscitated the surf-inspired, '80s hardcore sound and has been cranking it to a new level ever since. "Mutiny At Muscle Beach," the band's third full-length and first on Fat, is an unrepentantly raw blast of punk rock that evokes the spirit of Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Germs, D.I. and Circle Jerks. The 12 tracks are further developed with Night Birds' integration of modern influences, a referential aesthetic, and a healthy dose of passionate innovation. Just like Night Birds' live show, this album is an unbridled onslaught of throwback-meets-modern hardcore that never stops to take a breath. Now available on vinyl and cassette. Vinyl version includes digital download.) 15.00

SKELETONS - am i home LP (altin village - Skeletons, still »one of the few contemporary bands who can legitimately be called ›original‹« (XLR8R) in 2016, present their ninth studio album and their premiere on Altin Village & Mine. Skeletons is one of the names of the uctuating ensemble of musicians around composer and lmmaker Matthew Mehlan; on »Am I Home?« accompanied by long-time Skeletons collaborator Jason McMahon as well as Greg Fox (Liturgy, Zs, Guardian Alien) and Mike Pride, Justin Frye (PC Worship), Sam Kulik, Sam Sowyrda (Cloud Becomes Your Hand), Nathaniel Morgan and Caley Monahan-Ward (Extra Life, Dead Western), among others. »Am I Home?« thus marks the felicitous encounter between some of the best instrumentalist of the independent music cosmos with one of its consistently most interesting forward thinkers. This musical summit shows in the extraordinary joy of playing and the technical quality displayed throughout the seven songs — most of all, however, it registers in the density and consistency with regards to the coherence of the performance and space of »Am I Home?«. This is one of the striking qualities of this, in every way: remarkable album. With all of its displayed pro ciency, the music is a deeply human a air; in a way which can be claimed by very few albums. The question posed by »Am I Home?« nds itself answered on the album. It is answered, however, in the form of a question — the »home« that the music inquires about is the music itself, is its quest. This eminent, honest openness that equally shows in the lyrics and the vocal delivery by Mehlan — which, by the way, is on the same extraordinary level — , does not, however, make a point of digression or lose itself in the accompanying virtuosity, but always nds its way back to itself. The result may be, in a sense, post rock — but anyone embarking on the journey that »Am I Home?« o ers will only chuckle at this designation. At the same time it is free jazz, it is pop, it is chamber music; grandiose, experimental, at any moment deeply embedded into the space of the album. The connections produced by »Am I Home?« thus are not in the form of genre or likenesses (even though Mehlan’s recent relocation to his native Chicago may lend itself to assuming a certain proximity to projects of Jim O’Rourke’s, particularly Gastr del Sol), but instead in a relation to the world, to the »Uumans« that the moniker of Mehlan’s most recent solo work addresses. »Am I Home?« is the document of a singular musical voice that has reached a maturity which, even in the remarkable oeuvre of Skeletons, marks a milestone.) 17.00

SOVEREIGN - Deceptum LP (sell your soul- 3-piece black metal from Italy. Their debut album comes on limited clear heavyweight vinyl or black heavyweight vinyl in a fancy gatefold cover. FFO: Celeste, Hexis) 16.00
SPECTRES - utopia LP (SPECTRES are a post-punk band from Vancouver. "utopia" is their 3rd full-length. Things have changed for the Vancouver post-punk band. They are exploring other edges of the era. There is a much more new-wave mood on the recordings and the guitar tones come out of the shadows and cast brighter chords on the chorus. The singer's voice has really improved since the last album. The album sounds great. No more lo-fi re-verb, all the instruments are in crisp earshot. Vinyl includes a digital download card.) 12.00

ULVER - ATGCLVLSSCAP DLP (prophecy - House of Mythology proudly presents the new Ulver album, with over 80 minutes worth of material. WITH THE DEAD – same LP (rise above - Supergroup is such an erroneous term – images of bored playboys pissing on their legacy spring to mind – but the members of With The Dead have a history of creating criminally good records as long as your arm. They've all served hard time in the subterranean worlds of Doom and the heaviest forms of Metal and have now reconvened to surpass previous projects. They're back – and this time the aim is To maim. With The Dead were formed by the founding rhythm section of occultist Doom overloads Electric Wizard: guitarist/bassist Tim Bagshaw and drummer Mark Greening, a pair once notorious for the sheer brute heaviness of their bowel-shaking sound and early extra-curricular activities that involved excess, injury and low-level criminality (arrests for the theft of a crucifix from a church roof and drunkenly robbing an off-licence to name but two). Both have also played together in Ramesses. Completing the triangle is frontman Lee Dorrian, co-founder of Doom pioneers Cathedral, former frontman with grindcore legends Napalm Death and owner of Rise Above Records, the UK’s finest independent purveyors of all sounds heavy and underground, whose stable of bands include Ghost, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Lucifer, Blood Ceremony and Witchcraft. Having been in business since 1988, Rise Above is also one of the most enduring.) 18.00
WODE - s/t LP (The self titled debut full-length from Manchester three-piece WODE will be released on April 8th, 2016. Prior to this LP, the band's only output was a 2011 demo cassette. This sole recording, showcasing WODE's singular and thrilling approach to black metal and the quality and thoughtfulness poured into every track, earned the group stagetime along heavyweights like Liturgy, Tombs, Black Anvil, and Bast. Six tracks of apocalyptic black metal, WODE's newest record unleashes five years of outstanding potential, finding the band on deadly form, wielding enough surprises to suggest that its work in service to the counter-cosmos is far from done. The Hall of Famer's debut LP "Bleach" is covered in full, start to finish, by a diverse range of independent artists including: Still secret! Appropriately reflecting Nirvana's rawest studio album alongside a full-circle nod to Robotic Empire's roots, this is arguably the darkest, heaviest release in the tribute series. A tasteful re-envision of these classic songs sees all 13 "Bleach" tracks run through the bands' creative engines, putting an intense new perspective on these 25+ year old songs. ) 25.00

V/A - Wake Up You! Vol. 1 BOOK + CD (The Western world was in the throes of peace, love, and flower power as Nigeria descended into Civil War in 1967. Wake Up You! tells the story of this time, pays homage to these now-forgotten musicians and their struggle, and brings to light the funk and psychedelic fury they created as they wrested free of the ravages of the late 1960s and created thrilling, original Nigerian rock music throughout the 1970s. CHRISTI - cry / get off my mind 7" (Debut single from CHRISTI - a most excellent pairing of two addictive, hook-laden punk cuts from these Richmond ladies. CHRISTI draw from the powerful melodic approach of early punk groups like Protex and The Undertones, pairing that sound with the soulful haunt of 60’s favorites like the Shangri-Las. The result – a smooth, yet rugged and memorable single – a real “double A-side” if you will. There’s a certain finesse to these songs that few modern groups possess – be it the strong vocal hooks, well-penned guitar lines, or the pounding rhythm section – whatever “IT” may be, CHRISTI have that in spades. ) 7.00

LOCK - the cycle 7" (iron lung - America's favorite new sensation, LOCK, hailing from Los Angeles, CA plays a muscular style of hardcore with ferocious intensity. If you heard the demo from last year and dug it, this ep will surely blow your head all the way off your body. Members of Cønditiøn, Doses and Fury. For fans of American punk music. ) 8.00

PRIVATE ROOM - life com 7" (iron lung - The first release for PRIVATE ROOM. It's the new WALLS band. Better songs, worse attitude. Strong. A 2 song single to hold you until the LP drops later this year. ) 8.00

SGURD - same 7" (adagio830 - finally repressed. SGURD is a new band based between Berlin and Italy, featuring members of L’Amico Di Martucci, La Piovra, Smart Cops and Ohuzaru. Think early Agnostic Front rehearsing with the equipment of Void in a practice space in Boston. First press is limited to 300 on black vinyl. Artwork by the almighty Alexander Heir.) 5.00

SUPER UNISON – same 7“ (Fronted by Megan of Punch, Super Unison slow things down a bit, adding elements of bands like Sleater Kinney and Unwound to a Bay Area hardcore sound and in a short time have already toured with Coliseum and Culture Abuse. 7" includes digital download.) 6.50

THOU / BARGHEST - split 10" (THOU side includes the unedited version of "The Mystery of Contradictions." BARGHEST side has a song from the new line-up. Epic stuff. ) 16.00

ABSOLUTE POWER – same LP (youth attack - On their highly-anticipated debut ABSOLUTE POWER drops the hammer with 16 songs of unbridled East Coast U.S. Hardcore. In a tornado of anthemic riffs and tempo changes they set the stage for an all-out tear down of authority led by vocalist Chris O'Coin's insane performance. Through themes of security, violence, and voyeurism the band strips away the bullshit to reveal a hideous raw sound that burns with aggression. Recorded by Ian Jacyszyn in NYC and mixed and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air with artwork by renown illustrator and ex-CHARLES BRONSON guitarist, Mike Sutfin. This is music from time-tested YA alumni (featuring members from FAILURES, SUBURBANITE & AEROSOLS) that delivers beyond all conceivable standards. ABSOLUTE POWER stands ready to rule.) 18.00

ALBERT AYLER – my name is albert ayler LP (Originally released in 1964, My Name Is Albert Ayler, is the debut album from legendary free-jazz saxophonist Albert Ayler. Recorded in Copenhagen with a Scandinavian rhythm section this album sets the stage for the sheer brilliance that was to come. Although the backing band plays fairly straight ahead bop and feels out of place at times, it doesn't detract from the program as a whole, as Ayler's singular sound shines through. This is especially true on the absolutely stunning version of "Summertime". An essential piece of the Albert Ayler puzzle, one of the most unique jazz musicians of the 20th century.) 20.00

BOSSK - Audio Noir LP (deathwish - Bossk is an atmospheric, post-everything band from Ashford, Kent, England. Over the course of a decade Bossk has blurred the lines between the post-metal and post-rock subgenres, earning cult like status in the underground music scene. "Audio Noir" is a truly transcendent aural experience. Vinyl version includes digital download.) 15.00

CASIOTONE FOR THE PAINFULLY ALONE- In Cambridge LP (orindal - In Cambridge was recorded on April 28, 2010 at the Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge, MA, at the tail end of the only Casiotone for the Painfully Alone tour to feature a six-piece band (featuring members of Magical Beautiful & The Dead Science). Drawing heavily from Casiotone for the Painfully Alone's two most beloved albums, Etiquette & Vs. Children, In Cambridge brings fourteen classic songs to life with pianos, organs, horns, guitars, live drums & percussion. In Cambridge is an awesome document of a short-lived live incarnation of Owen Ashworth's often solo, electronic, lo-fi pop songwriting project – featuring the fullest, most bombastic arrangements of these songs that were ever recorded.) 18.00
CAVERN OF ANTI MATTER - void beats / invocation trex 3LP (Cavern of Anti-Matter is a new group led by Tim Gane of Stereolab! void beats / invocation trex has the classic gorgeous motorik vibe that Stereolabalumni do so well, sucking you into its world. Guest appearances from Bradford Cox of Deerhunter and Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3: quite a line-up eh?"Cavern Of Anti-Matter are spectrum addicts, setting up tiny rhythmic cells and expanding on them in certain ways, splitting the melody and stretching out. The melodic movement is much slower due to the lack of words. At the moment, the Cavern sound is more what I want to do." – Tim Gane “Repaints the neon-lit underpasses of Kraftwerk and Neu!, while irregular, perverted, wavering synths recalls and elaborates on DAF and forgotten 80s electropop” –The Guardian Tim Gane is the leader of Stereolab (a band beloved by everyone from Pharrell Williams to Blur). He started his musical career as a purveyor of harsh noise in the early 1980s under the alias Unkommuniti releasing self-financed cassettes on Black Dwarf Wreckordings (recently anthologised by Vinyl On Demand). Tim was a key member of McCarthy from 1985-1990. In 2007 he composed his first film soundtrack, La Vie D’Artiste, alongside longtime musical collaborator Sean O’Hagan (The High Llamas), and has recently contributed keyboards to the latest Deerhunter album, Fading Frontier.) 24.00
CULT OF LUNA - VERTIKAL I & II 3xLP BOX (indie – After many years of intense touring the band had decided to take a break from live shows until a proper new album was ready. _In 2011 the band undertook intense writing sessions and began to record demos._The foundations of the first tracks were recorded in Umeå and an album slowly took form._The recording process was longer and more scattered than before and in 2012 the band eventually got together for a longer, final session in Umeå, at Tonteknik Recording. The result was ‘Vertikal’. _‘Vertikal’ marked a much-anticipated return for the band after five years spent cultivating the ideas and directing the influences that have helped form a concept for the album. Distilled throughout are themes of machinery, repetition and clear, linear structures honed to the visual imagery of Fritz Lang’s classic expressionist science-fiction film ‘Metropolis’. _The music broods, builds and boils as you may expect from Cult of Luna, but never over-complicates itself or veers from its intentions; it is arguably their finest and most cohesive piece of work to date. After releasing “Vertikal” in January 2013 and many months of intense touring in 2013 the band now shows a new, even more futuristic outlook with “Vertikal II”.) 35.00
CREVASSE - s/t LP (Four friends from the netherlands and germany who knew each other from their previous bands like Finisterre, Landverraad, Lawine and Leechfeast met up to creat a new ferocious project.
After their demo this is their first output on vinyl. Expect six loud, fast and angry songs that somehow hard to place in the right box. If you like Dbeat and chaotic fast hardcore and you are fed up with daily life, patriarchy and the world as a whole, you should definetly check this out.) 11.00

DEATH INDEX – same LP (detahwish - Death Index is a new project of Carson Cox (Merchandise, Neon Blud, Church Whip) and Marco Rapisarda (La Piovra, Sgurd, Archaic). Roaring out of the gate with a feedback-driven gallop, the album brings to mind the swagger of The Birthday Party and others. Simple synth lines and manic guitars swirl heavily throughout, conjuring the experimental spirit of legends Suicide, while Carson's infectious vocal croon serves as a melodious anchor through a multitude of unpredictable twists and turns. Now available on colored vinyl. Vinyl version includes digital download.) 15.00

DREAMDECAY - N V N V N V LP (iron lung – back in szock - A lunging, murky noise rock master stroke from this Seattle trio (well, really a quartet since this recording) who is constantly evolving and refining their craft into something truly massive and unique. Feel free to open your life to the interesting and embrace this twisted vision of northwest heaviness. Don't sleep on this band or you will kick yourself later. We might kick you later too. They are certainly one of the most powerful live bands around and if you've seen them you know we don't lie. If you bought the tour test press version of this on the east coast then you double know we don't lie. DREAMDECAY will be doing a west coast tour with USELESS CHILDREN later this this year. Get ready.) 16.00

FLOORPUNCH - Fast Times At The Jersey Shore LP ("Fast Times At The Jersey Shore" is the only LP from New Jersey hardcore legends Floorpunch and was released in 1998 on Equal Vision Records. They were at the forefront of the late-1990s straight edge revival along with bands like In My Eyes and Ten Yard Fight, and were influenced by the late-'80s Revelation Records scene. This record has been out of print on vinyl for years with original copies being highly sought after.) 16.00

FLOORPUNCH - Twin Killing LP (This LP collects the "Division One Champs" 7" and "Goal Line Stand" demo from New Jersey straight edgers Floorpunch. The LP was originally released in 1997 and has been out of print ever since.) 16.00

GLOOM SLEEPER - a void LP (Yes - GLOOM SLEEPER are very late to the post-punk party, but they don't particularly sound like the contemporary and earlier bands of the genre. Nothing from this release sounds dated or trite. GLOOM SLEEPER's style extends from post-punk to new wave, from gothic atmosphere builders to upbeat guitar pop. The band used the recording session to create a textured sonic art that married a breath taking understanding of atmosphere (without loosing its punky edge) with a sense of emotional fury. The music soars where it should and drifts when the listener needs a break from the intensity. The layered, jangly guitar releases liquid notes, the dedicated bass player pumps out rhythms, the fairly powerful drum section bites and the somewhat gothic styled vocals mixed into the songs take everything to a higher level. These guys from Bielefeld, Germany are creating their music based on the sound made popular by British bands like THE SOUND and ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN or THE WIPERS from the other side of the pond. At the same time, the influence of today's THE ESTRANGED or TERRIBLE FEELINGS is obvious. The result is a unique sound that is somehow beyond mere words – A VOID feels entirely cohesive and unified. The inventive arrangements and intricate playing can't take the catchiness out of these 10 songs: Limited colored (semitransparent turquoise) vinyl comes with a heavy printed innersleeve and includes a digital download card. A VOID will leave you re-playing to excess!) 11.00

GREYHOUSE - dives to the deep end DLP (simba - The mid-nineties were an interesting time in the world of hardcore. Bands were experimenting, pushing the boundaries of what was post hardcore or indie-rock, and still punk. GREYHOUSE ignored the constraints of these different genres, choosing to write songs that represented their thoughts and emotions—the way music is supposed to. Whilst many formulaic and generic bands conformed nicely into one of the genres the scene had splintered into, GREYHOUSE found their own sound.
Taking influences from many, but sounding like none, they represent this era of hardcore in a way that no other does. Forever a band playing basements, not releasing records, and never touring, they are the best kept secret of that time. • 700 pressed on grey vinyl. • FOR FANS OF FUGAZI, SOULSIDE, GIRLS AGAINST BOYS, BORN AGAINST and JAWBOX,) 25.00

HUMANS THE SIZE OF MICROPHONES - human crop circles LP (HTSOM, although an obscure noughties-era UK outfit that didn't get out of the South coast area much, were utterly amazing. A crashing, bashing, chaotic agglomeration of old-skool Ebullition styled emo, their live shows were legendary, and not just because they sometimes wore massive afro wigs or the bassist used an old sweatshirt for a strap. Drummer John recorded this at his own studio, where various luminaries such as Electric Wizard, No, Facel Vega, Hunting Lodge and Field Boss have also recorded. HTSOM were in fact slated to do a split with Electric Wizard at one point.) 11.00

JEAN SCHWARZ - Erda / Suite N LP (French composer and ethnomusiclogist born in Lille, France in 1939. Member of the Laboratory of Ethnomusicology at Musée de l'Homme 1965-99. Member of the Groupes de recherches musicales (GRM) from 1969-99. Erda (1972)_This piece illustrates my early research carried out in a professional composition studio. After studying every available tools and creating variably hybrid connections between them, I chose to compose several short sequences, each being the expression of a research based on a sonic manipulation and exploring a well defined sound hue. Besides, my background as a percussionist and a jazzman encouraged me to conduct a rhythmical study in each of these sequences. Suite N (1982)_Commissioned by the Direction de la Musique and the Ina GRM._Composed in the Ina GRM’s numerical composition studio with the assistance of Benedict Maillard and Yann Geslin. In a composition studio, musical research is never very far removed from madness. The first step is the initial work on the sound picked up by the microphone and the varieties of delirium that result from it : exaggerated amplification, inversion, transformation. Synthesizers and their crazy possibilities com next. The third step is the computer, one of the purest products of logic. All the same, the musician approaches the robot warily : he prefers his own models to formal and mathematical models, and he uses the computer like an instrument. Anyway that seems to be the choice of the computer group in charge of studio 123 at the G R M ; and we may congratulate ourselves that this is the case.) 17.00
JESU / SUN KIL MOON - split DLP (caldo verde - Mark kozelek and Justin Broadrick will release their debut collaboration Jesu/Sun Kil Moon on January 22 through Caldo Verde Records/Rough Trade.__The album is 79 minutes and includes guests Rachel Goswell, Low, Isaac Brock, Will Oldham and others. The album features contributors from Mimi Parker and Alan Sparhawk from Low, Rachel Goswell from Slowdive, Will Oldham and Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse.) 27.00
JULIE BYRNE- Rooms With Walls and Windows LP (orindal - Rooms With Walls and Windows is the first album by Seattle-by-way-of-Chicago-by-way-of-Buffalo singer, songwriter & guitarist Julie Byrne. Blending psychedelic & traditional folk elements, Julie Byrne creates a highly personal & quietly mystical world that echoes the early work of Leonard Cohen & Vashti Bunyan.Rooms With Walls and Windows' twelve tracks were collected from two limited edition cassette releases, recorded between 2011 & 2012 by Jake Acosta in Chicago, IL. Each song was recorded live, with Julie accompanying herself on fingerpicked acoustic guitar or keyboard. Rooms With Walls & Windows was lovingly remastered for vinyl by Owen Ashworth & Matthew Barnhart. "The songs of Julie Byrne are hushed and mysterious. Close-miked within the natural reverb of windowless rooms, utilising fingerpicked nylon-stringed guitar and Byrne's rich sequestered voice, they unfold from bare folk simplicity to abstracted tales of home life and longing that conjure up a simultaneous feeling of warm cabin intimacy and a deep interior sadness." - MOJO Magazine) 18.00
KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD - Nonagon Infinity LP (heavenly - "Nonagon infinity opens the door," sings Stu Mackenzie, frontman of Australian psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It turns out, though, that once the door's open, it never closes. That's because the Melbourne septet has ingeniously crafted what may be the world's first infinitely looping LP. Each of the nine, complex, blistering tracks on 'Nonagon Infinity' seamlessly flows into the next, with the final song linking straight back into the top of the opener like a sonic mobius strip. But far from a simple conceptual experiment, the album is both an exhilarating shot of adrenaline and a remarkable feat of craftsmanship, the result of painstaking planning and an eye for detail years in the making. ) 20.00

LITOVSK - s/t LP (Hailing from the coastal town Brest in the far north-western corner of France LITOVSK deliver a fulminant and outstanding debut album. Eleven songs of dark and gloomy Postpunk/Wave. You could say, you've heard it before and yes, you proabably have: Some of the songs were taken from their 2014 Demo Tape. Rumbling and driving basslines, straight drumming topped by partly wavey guitar riffs: simple, clean and honest while retaining a good portion of frenetic power and energy. Think of THE ESTRANGED, NEW FLESH or RED DONGS. A Band to reckon with: LITOVSK is defintely one of the best Postpunk coming from Europe these days. On this records they manage to give an extra vibe to the last wave and created eleven hymns to dance and sing along with.) 11.00
MATT 'MV' VALENTINE - blazing grace LP (time lag - it can take a lot for a single album to stand out from a discography as epic as MV's, but by the time you're given this one a single spin it becomes very clear that a new apex has been reached. this long in the works solo outing somehow merges nearly every one of the finest elements of past releases into a perfectly executed singular vision. there's an intensely personal, exposed element to the song writing here, increasingly hinted at in the recent past but never so purely focused. likewise the music itself has a honed edge thats both unharnessed yet precise, drifting just enough, but never too far. a newborn musical trajectory wrapped in MV's most loving & elaborate 'spectrasound' production to date, creating a sonic pallet that simply ripples with nuance, tone, and a seemingly bottomless depth of detail. all together, a start-to-finish trip that's instantly memorable & hummable, subtly intimate yet cosmically blasted. restrained yet fully rocking, with that unmistakable burnt, ragged edge. blazing grace indeed… distinctly a solo vibe, but without any shortage of help on board. guests include : ERIKA ELDER, P.G. SIX, MICK FLOWER, SPANISH WOLFMAN, JEREMY EARL, J. MASCIS, MEG BAIRD, PETE NOLAN, MUSKOX, CARSON ARNOLD, and RONGOOSE, all adding to the decidedly rich, earthy, and futuristic sound. endless guitars of every texture, lush mellotron, vibrating harmonies, star-dust synth, hazed rhythms, eastern drones, and far more, all fluidly entwined… packaged in a beautiful full color laminated 60s style heavy tip-on cover, with large insert. edition of 500 copies. *these records are SEALED (a time-lag first!) but happy to ship un-sealed with vinyl out of cover if requested...) 20.00
MAXINE FUNKE - felt LP (time lag - new vinyl edition of this amazing & instantly out of print album, originally released in NZ as a tiny 100 copy edition in 2012. while maxine's earlier LACE album unfolds as a more externalized & psychedelic experience, here everything focuses inwards with an utterly beautiful, lulling, tidal tranquility. overflowing with warmth & humble magic, like watching dust dance in a beam of sunlight through an open window. a kind of intimate microcosmic observation of the everyday, stretching the tiniest joys & subtlest quirks of life into something truly poetic and timeless. the songwriting is deep & revelatory, yet totally raw & unforced. fully in the "now" but also completely part of the infinite, like it's been pulled directly from the vague spaces between time & place themselves… stillness in motion… a sparse 4-track home-fi recording, with a gauzy analog mist ever present & the sounds of the environment gently creeping in. sublimely wonderful stuff here, with plenty of that unique new zealand magic. direct, pure & unforgettable, in the most lovely way… packaged in a totally hand assembled fold-out art paper cover with screen printed text & pasted artwork, nicely matching the LACE covers. edition of 300 copies.) 25.00
MAXINE FUNKE - lace LP (time lag - first ever vinyl edition of this album, originally released in NZ as a tiny cdr edition on ALASTAIR GALBRAITH's 'next best way' label in 2008, four years before the release of FELT. overall a more polarized and pleasantly tumultuous listen compared with the starkly beautiful FELT, but revealing just as much subtle grace. playing out as though occasionally whipped by a salty wind, with gusts of psychedelic noise rising here & there to engulf these fragile poetic songs, sending them infinitely outward. a more externalized & expansive listening experience then the inward stillness of FELT, and a perfect mirrored pair to the later. these songs will beam deep into your unconscious before you've even realized you remembered them. the sound here is decidedly 4-track home-fi, with a gauzy analog mist ever present & the sounds of the environment gently creeping in. a largely solo affair, but with considerable & highly distinctive contributions from ALASTAIR GALBRAITH, adding an electrified & disorienting edge. truly wonderful stuff here, with plenty of that unique new zealand magic. raw, pure, and completely unforgettable… packaged in a totally hand assembled fold-out art paper cover with screen printed text & pasted artwork, nicely matching the FELT covers. edition of 300 copie) 25.00

To the extent that music, especially that which is wordless, can describe life, Rainbow serves as a window into the past four years of Stillman’s own: a time of birth, death, love, and learning, and through these things, a new willingness to look the world in the eye. The album is structured around dedications: to his wife, Anna; to his late daughter Ruth, and his second-born daughter Romilly; to the landscape of his adopted home in East Kent; and to his blue station wagon, Warren. After two recent projects with his ensemble The Archaic Future Players (Station Wagon Interior Perspective; Leap of Death), Rainbow represents a return to the loner working methods of 2011’s Machine Song, with Stillman building up intricate arrangements from multi-tracked recordings of himself on all instruments. Rainbow also marks the return of Stillman’s tenor saxophone, a sound not heard in such a prominent role in his music since his 2006 debut, Robert Stillman’s Horses. With these trusted methods and tools, Stillman explores new stylistic territory, reconciling influences as disparate as the Brazilian psychedelia of Milton Nascimento with the uninhibited poetics of Ornette Coleman, the “Social Music” volume of Harry Smith’sFolkways anthology with the early electronic Klangstudie of Herbert Eimert. Stillman’s singing voice is also heard for the first time, in a recording made during a walk with his daughter through the field described in the song’s lyrics.) 18.00
THE SAVAGE YOUNG TATERBUG - Shadow of Marlboro Man LP (1 Sided Silkscreen Picture Disc 12" - It took too long, its a little too short to satisfy the thirst, but maybe its not so bad to leave a person wanting more, regardless its finally here The Shadow of Marlboro Man by Charles Free The Savage Young Taterbug. A mythology created by fact and fiction surrounded by love, hate, and all things in between hovers around the burnt out scrappy charismatic aura of Charles Free. A soul shinned by a life beaten against itself, always searching for new magic in the futility and self-destruction of Americas great black top oblivion. All that living, myth, and aura is distilled to perfection in these five songs. With a little help from some key friends Charles has managed to create his masterpiece of the thus far, maybe never again, hoping for more, because this short release is that damn good. Some of you might not get it but for those that do and for those that have followed the journey prior the waiting has been worth it. All the dirt, fuzz, and noise has been rendered into the atmosphere that gives these songs that something special. A clarity is now evident, songs now stand out, the poetry now speaks, and the Marlboro Man has casts his shadow.) 16.00
SELF DEFENSE FAMILY - Superior LP (run for a cover - On the new four-song EP, "Superior," Self Defense Family presents some of its darkest material to date. Themed around the movement to make the Upper Peninsula the 51st state, this is cold winds over permafrost. This is Christian Death meets Death In June meets Death meets actual loss of life. It's Killing Joke in their Iceland apocalypse phase. If you could mainline "bummer," this would be it. Captured by Taylor Young at The Pit for maximum gloom. 12"ep includes digital download and an etched B-side.) 15.00
SLOW WORRIES - s/t LP (adagio830 - Slow Worries are slow burners...a year in the making they are ready to share their debut EP but it is bursting with pent up energy. The foursome recorded the record themselves on weekends in their practice space with a friend and the diy spirit creeps through the recordings. Musically the songs reference a lot of 90s indie and post-hardcore, think Slant 6/Helium/Treepeople/Fugazi. Lyrically Slow Worries tend to go by the 'the personal is political' credo. Dividing their time between other bands & careers this band is testament to their shared history, friendship and mutual love for classic 90's underground bands. Urgent, catchy and just plainbeautiful.
300 copies pressed on black vinyl. ) 10.00
TENNISCOATS - music exists disc 1 LP (The first part of a four-part vinyl edition of Tenniscoats' masterpieceMusic Exists, a work of intimate, wonderful, psychedelic folk music. Includes double-sided fold-out insert. Tenniscoats have devoted followers all over the world, but their releases have always been hard to find outside of Japan. Except for their album Tokinouta (2011), which saw a very limited run on vinyl, and the seminal Two Sunsets, their 2009 collaboration with The Pastels (and a small handful of 7"s), there were never any vinyl releases, and the CDs were hard to get for anyone who doesn't speak or read Japanese. So this release is a chance to dive deep into the beautiful, unique world of the Tenniscoats and their magnum opus Music Exists. Tenniscoats are a duo that has enjoyed a long career in the music scene of their home country of Japan since their formation in 1996. They have collaborated with unique artists from different backgrounds (Tape, The Pastels, Pastacas, Jad Fair) while maintaining their own laid-back approach and sound. Their songs are built primarily from guitar and vocals with lyrical themes focusing on everyday life. It could be their expansion on simplicity that has captivated music lovers of all ages throughout their existence. Music Exists previously saw a limited release on the Tenniscoats' own Majikick label in 2015. "We started recording around January of 2013 with just the two of us in our 10 tatami-room in Tokyo we were using as a private studio. Arrangements were produced without computers by overdubbing on an analog console with mixing assistance provided by Saya. As we sent selected songs to be mastered by Yasushi Utsunomia, we were able to see the tracks grown into a full length album." Tenniscoats wrote and recorded the album themselves using an analog console, a microphone, and what few instruments they had. As the project developed, they were surprised to find that they had amassed several albums' worth of material, showcasing their unique combination of melodies and unexaggerated arrangements. Co-released by the Germany-based Alien Transistor label and the Tokyo-based Afterhours magazine and label.) 17.00

WRONG - same LP (relapse - Miami's high-energy noise rock quartet WRONG (featuring ex-members of Torche, Kylesa and Capsule) unveil their self-titled full-length debut, a raucous and modern take on 90's grunge and alternative metal. After streamrolling onto the scene in 2014 with their promising debut EP and unrelenting live show, WRONG now deliver eleven riff-driven, powerhouse songs replete with battering grooves, dissonant melodies and cathartic vocals. WRONG play noise rock for a new millennium, and this is one of the most infectious and captivating heavy debuts in years.) 18.00

THE DAMNED - neat neat neat COFFEE MUG (nice white coffee mug w/ black print packed in a cardboard box) 8.00

ANNALIBERA - loveil TAPE (Annalibera is a project from Des Moines Iowa fronted by Anna Gebhardt a classically trained vocalist and pianist who grew up in rural Nebraska. Manifested prior as a full band and now being explored as a solo project Annalibera is a distinct new voice in the Midwestern music landscape. With loveil Anna has stretched her music into contemplative soundscapes, using noisy atmospherics to contrast the soaring melodic qualities of her strong and beautiful voice. The haunted intimacy and lonely honesty of loveil feels unique and fresh to these well-worn ears. Meeting Anna through a mutual friend was a bit of a revelation in how much commonality was present between Annas current musical path and Night-Peoples origins and evolution, something that makes it extra exciting and nice to be working with her. Special thanks to the Warm Gospel label for letting us re-release this wonderful music. Expect more great things from Annalibera in the near future. ) 7.00

BLOSSUMING MUMS - Dithering Mornings TAPE (night people - Blossoming Mums is a recent project created by long time Night-People alumni and friend Robert Robinson who has been holding it down in Western Massachusetts for many years now with his excellent band Sore Eros. Blossoming Mums is a collaboration between Robert and Amanda Freeman of the Baby Barnyard project. The duo creates music that is obviously part of the Sore Eros aesthetic but stretches out in a different direction to be more ambient, drifting, and hazy in its minimalist psychedelic pop sensibilities and is very reflective of an early morning or late evening Western Mass country landscape. Blossoming Mums let the spaces and drawn out portions of sounds speak just as much as the rich deep melodies they create. Great well recorded polished dreamy music for summer or fall chilling out.) 7.00

CEMETERY - same TAPE (voice - Reissue of long gone demo of thise Chicago-based goth-punk band!! Dont miss out!) 6.00

CRAZY SPIRIT - 2014 demo TAPE (Released in 2014 to New York's Alright fest demo by insane NYC punks Crazy Spirit! Raw and nasty hardcore punk that sounds pretty distinctive!) 6.00

CREEM - s/t TAPE (voice - TAPE VERSION of the LP - This release marks the first 12" release from premier NYHC act Creem. The band jumps light years ahead of the recording session that spawned a demo cassette and 7" single and creates a piece of music that is far and away its best material. Six originals and a cover of Boston/UK-influenced hardcore in the vein of Negative FX and DYS or more recent bands like Violent Minds or 86 Mentality.) 6.00
DAISY CHAINS - above board TAPE (night people - Daisy Chains is a Minneapolis trio comprised of Elizabeth Bambery, Walker Neudorff, and Allison Gunderson and contains members of long running local touring acts Miami Dolphins, and Solid Attitude. Daisy Chains minimalist post punk leanings intersect slow country drawl and rock and roll swagger in interesting ways to create something unique that also nods to greats such as Dead Moon, Beat Happening, and Opal. Bamberys vocals take center stage with a gentle warble that provides an intimacy that works very well coupled with lyrical topics often focused on troubled love and loss. This cassette is a great introduction to a promising new Minneapolis band that is winning over local crowds and press alike and has a bright future ahead of them. ) 7.00
DEADHUNT - demo TAPE (voice - ne of the first new releases for 2016. 4 track demo tape from Portlad punk band! Including members of Ripper, these guys are killing! Furious hardcore sounding in Burning Spirit vein put through Swedish HC with amazing guitar metal solos!! Sometimes reminds me of World Burn to Death and again, Ripper. This is kinda benefit release for PDX based Rust and Machine Records, as I'm sending more copies to Nick Kaught to help him to launch his label again, after that horrible fire they experienced. He released this tape back then so this is reissue!) 6.00
FREE MUSIC - Kool Toad / Great Music TAPE (Free Music/Kool Toad is William Statler who grew up in the Twin Cities and kicked it in a few bands before transplanting to call Seattle home. Some mutual friends and Twin Cities connections along with William sending us a demo in the mail started the process towards working together and this release taking shape. The demo we got from William was one of those exclamation points that rarely turns up in the mail and instantly impressed. Free Music is eclectic but focused musically, riding a bit of an outsider thread and mutating strains of techno, acid house, and various synth pop strains into something totally unique upbeat and pop music memorable in the best ways. This release is meticulously crafted with utmost variety and consideration towards detail but is generated largely from improvisational methods. Beyond being a friend and artist we are working with Williams music is some of the best being made in the contemporary context and we are excited for what hes cooking up for the near future.) 7.00
GERM CLASS - s/t TAPE (night people - Germ Class is a collaboration between the mysterious German Army who has worked with Night-People in the past and Dunes the LA based dreamy pop trio with prior releases on Post Present Medium. The collaboration rests a bit closer to Germany Armys past work then Dunes but its a collaboration that is very much a sum of its parts in outcome and keeps with a focused but experimental approach overall. Loose drum patterns form the base for drifting vocals pages that balance between the industrial grit and darkness of German Army and the more melodic ethereal qualities of Dunes work. Overall the music sounds a bit like the less harsh aspects of Throbbing Gristles catalog meeting up with the more experimental sides of early Cocteau Twins. An interesting listen throughout that fits nicely into the eclectic nature of the Night-People catalog. ) 7.00
HANK WOOD & THE HAMMERHEADS - STAY HOME REISSUE TAPE (Secong full lenth LP of Hank Wood and the Hammerheads released in 2014 (Toxic State, LVEUM), heres tape version of this gem! 10 garage punk hits with pretty distinct singing of Henry. Coming with alternate covers and new cut-n-paste artwork for cassette foldout!) 6.00
HANK WOOD & THE HAMMERHEADS - FATIGUE SINGLE TAPE (Single tape including Blitz cover from NYC garage punk gang, including memebers of Crazy Spirit, Dawn of Humans and others. Originally issued as flexi 7" but long sold out now.) 6.00

HELTA SKELTA - same TAPE (Reissue tape of the first self released LP from aussie punks who are delivering 11 tracks of early punk (77-79) mixed with early US Hardcore with awesome firm garage touch. All tapes have alternate covers and stickers (red and black), also theres super limited edition of 40 tapes with handnumbered obi-strips available from the band only during their upcoming USA tour in January! To me, this is the best current australian band playing this kinda punk, no jokes!) 6.00

ROMAN NAILS - Artificial Sense TAPE (Roman Nails is the current electronic music project of Cooper Bowman of Melbourne Australia who has spent time with other projects such as Flat Fix and the Altered States Cassette Label. Cooper orbits around much of the Melbourne scene that we respect greatly from afar such as Total Control, Dick Diver, and Night-People alumni such as Fingers and Superstar. Its always hard to describe that subtle IT factor that a particular band or music project has, those little things that set it apart somehow from other similar music or that which makes the music stand out to these ears. Roman Nails has a special quality, something that is humble and mysterious. The project is based around analog electronics and rides its own vein of raw minimalism that doesnt fall into getting to blown out and focuses on retaining detail. Distinct melodies and synth sounds glide over evolving rhythms to create hypnotic compositions not overly oriented to one stylistic approach or genre tag. Another sweet surprise from Australia. ) 7.00

SAD BOYS - cry now, cry later TAPE (3 song reissue tape from NYC female-fronted punk band sounding like overfuzzed uk82/Japanese pogo-punk!!! Members of Pox, La Misma, Nomad, L.O.T.I.O.N. and others.) 6.00

STEFAN CHRISTENSEN - israel (it's more of the same) TAPE (Stefan Christensen was the lead man in long running New Haven Connecticut arty DIY punk outfit the Estrogen Highs. This solo release finds Stefan stepping into different waters but the course from Estrogen Highs to this material seems logical in that this material explores a more abstracted discordant and subtle area of the post punk paradigm. Kiwi influences such as This Kind of Punishment, the Dead C, Alastair Galbraith and the Xpressway label sound stick out along with the Mike Rep Ohio scene of weirdo rock and the general goodness of early UK DIY as prime vantage points. The influences are present but they don’t diminish this release that feels like a dialogue and a step forward not a rehashing of the past. The label received a copy of this material unexpected in the mail and the excitement was immediate concerning the scope of these recordings, the song writing, the flow of the sounds and content, the recording quality. This is a perfect release for its aesthetic and approach. ) 7.00

SUSPECT - faux empath TAPE (night peiople - Ryan Beck is Suspect an electronic musician who has former ties in Iowa City and now resides in Chicago. Suspect has a very refined sound for a new project just starting to push its music into the world. Faux Empath isn’t a bumpy ride but a smooth concourse that moves through a sonic space inhabited by an almost limitless supply of shifting sounds phasing in and out of themselves and the larger journey of a particular track. Suspect in a sonic way explores relationships between human consciousness and technology and how those things evolve together along with other minds and information pathways connected by technology. The music represents these ideas well offering a recording that continues to open up new listening experiences on repeat listens. Stay tuned for more from Ryan Beck and Suspect in the future as this is a great first effort in more exposure for an interesting project. ) 7.00

GEORGE HURCHALLA - Going Underground: American Punk 1979–1989 BOOK (An illustrated and wide-ranging survey of the underground U.S. punk scene in the 1980s
The product of decades of work and multiple self-published editions, Going Underground, written by 1980s scene veteran George Hurchalla, is the most comprehensive look yet at America’s nationwide underground punk scene. Despite the misguided mainstream press declarations that “punk died with Sid Vicious” or that “punk was reborn with Nirvana,” Hurchalla followed the DIY spirit of punk underground, where it not only survived but thrived nationally as a self-sustaining grassroots movement rooted in seedy clubs, rented fire halls, xeroxed zines, and indie record shops. Rather than dwell on well-documented suspects and trendsetters from LA, NY, and DC, Hurchalla delves deep into the underground’s underbelly to root out stories from Chicago, Philadelphia, Austin, Lawrence, Annapolis, Cincinnati, Florida, and elsewhere. Like most of the truly great books on punk that have emerged to date, Hurchalla mixes his personal experiences with the words of dozens of band members, promoters, artists, zinesters, and scenesters. This revised second edition includes new photos, zine scans, and flyer collections from around the United States.) 18.00
